I had the pleasure of working with them on a project on our property using their design-build services. Everything seemed to fit together, from the initial sketch to the last paint job. Not having to manage different designers and contractors was a relief. The procedure was far more effective than I believed.

Our guest house project was completed to a high standard by the crew. They provided assistance with everything from planning to permits, but we weren't sure where to begin. Now that it's fully functional, my in-laws enjoy spending time there. The additional square footage has really changed the game.

I never imagined that I would be working on a whole-house renovation during a pandemic, but these people made it doable. The way they adjusted to unforeseen delays and still produced a good result was what I valued most. It feels like a brand-new room now.

In order to accommodate my parents when they come to visit, I had an ADU constructed in my backyard. Although it took a while to complete, the quality and attention to detail were truly remarkable. I valued the team's communication skills because they kept me informed at every stage.

We recently finished remodeling our kitchen, and we are pleased with the results. The team paid attention to the information that was important to us and showed consideration for our personal space. To be honest, the finished product looks like it was taken from a design magazine. Overall, the process was very easy.

We had karma build our new home in fort Washington. Took 4 months permitting and 8 months to complete. They seem to be very busy but they were able to accommodate me.

Extremely Disappointed – Proceed with Caution

I had high hopes when I hired Karma Group to install a stamped concrete patio. The project cost me $13,500, and I’ve been dealing with issues ever since.

The concrete color is completely off from what was agreed upon. The stamping is uneven, and in some areas, it looks like they left their kneeling pads imprinted in the surface. There's even a hazardous ramp that has caused people to trip. When the concrete cracked just weeks later, they came back and cut out a section with a circular saw, leaving jagged lines and patchwork that looks awful.

They also cut my downspouts during installation and left them hanging. Several professionals who have seen the work have called it one of the worst jobs they’ve encountered. The company even admitted the concrete supplier they used was not ideal.

What I received was far from what was promised:
* The color is completely off.
* The quality of the concrete work is terrible.
* There’s a hazardous ramp that guests have tripped on.
* The stamping was done unevenly, with different intensities throughout.
* The kneeling pads used during stamping left permanent impressions in the concrete.
* Three weeks later, they came back and used a circular saw to cut out a cracked section, then filled it with more concrete—leaving behind jagged, mismatched lines.
* Even worse, the installer cut my downspouts, leaving them hanging.

What’s worse, I’ve spent over a year and a half getting the runaround with no resolution. I was originally planning to have them do more work, but I’m glad I didn’t. I’m now considering legal action.

Save yourself the stress—do your research and think twice before hiring this company.

Started a major construction job of adding a bathroom and an outer room with many specific built INS has required in the original contract. The contract was broken over and over again and failure to have anyone manage the job. There was very rarely anybody on-site to what watch, very poor workers who did very low quality work. They put an entire hvac system into my new addition, and no heat came in. It's freezing cold and now I have to hire another company to correct all the mistakes they made.They put a heated floor in my bathroom, which I paid extra for and it never function, and now I'm having to have the entire floor pulled up. The correct wiring put in etc. The entire job took months and months longer than it was supposed to, and they finally never were able to finish it. The company he didn't seem to have enough money to complete any of its tasks, or they just didn't care. Never in my opinion, use karma. As a construction company, awful awful experience

Karma has been a nightmare. It has taken over a year for them to finish my simple project--deck installation & powder room installation. 3 project managers have quit, leaving our backyard a mess. Their craftmaship is poor at best. Run away from this company as fast as you can. Jordan never returns phone calls. Mariya never shows up when she's scheduled. Dennis attempts to solve problems but never follows through. I could only imagine that the positive reviews of this company are fraud. If I could give a zero, I would.

Karma roofs did a great job of roofing my house. Jeff was very efficient and prompt to respond to any and all questions and/or concerns. I highly recommend going with Karma.

Work was nicely and professionally done. Went over initial budget but that was on us since we changed our minds and wanted more expensive kitchen cabinets which led to delays in getting the cabinets, installing countertop, etc. Jordan and his team were flexible (which we really appreciated) and very quickly installed them. Will def call them again

Great company finished my deck and new addition in maryland. Took a little longer then we thought but it was well done and that's all that matters.

The worst experience I could imagine with a construction company. DO NOT HIRE, even if their quotes start out lower than the competition- it's just not worth it. From start to finish, the project took an insane amount of time- starting from March 2023 with the original quote to January 2024 for something that we were originally told would take only a couple of weeks. A lot of the delays were because the project manager was unresponsive or because the wrong materials were delivered. This happened twice- and then we had to wait weeks for the wrong materials to be picked up from our house, and then even longer for the right materials to arrive. The lack of communication was completely unacceptable- multiple times people showed up to our house and we had no idea work would be done that day. No one would take responsibility for any of the problems we had throughout this project. The work itself was (eventually) done by subcontractors instead of Karma employees and they were great, but ultimately the experience was so unnecessarily stressful and unprofessional that I cannot believe that the 5 star reviews for this company are written by real customers. We had a truly terrible experience with Karma and I strongly urge anyone reading this review to hire someone (anyone) else.

They were awesome in renovating my house, after water damage! Redid the floors, ceilings, and closet, magnificent ♥️ job, I now live in a brand new house , hopefully I will not have to go through that again, but they are for sure, my go to construction company, they are awesome

Overall construction was OK.

Management was a nightmare and the project was about a month delayed. They never tell you when people are going to be in your house. Our overall privacy was gone for three months. They just walk in whenever they want, it was extremely frustrating.

When working with Jordan and Craig, get everything in writing. They were very misleading and there were lots of mistakes.

Craig didn’t seem to know what he was doing. Which is fine, but he had an ego and constantly talked down to me.

When asked to remedy the mistakes, they give you snarky manipulative responses, as if you’re stupid. They were so rude.

Peggy in accounting constantly over charged us. Double charged for materials we already paid for, and added materials that weren’t even used on the job. When asked to remedy the mistakes, they denied any fault and basically said pay up. The sub contractors buy whatever they want, and they just send you the bill. Extremely frustrating.

Buyer beware, I would not recommend at all.

Karma Construction Group repaired my very old and dilapidated carport and brought it back to it's original glory. I was so pleased with their quality of work, craftsmanship and overall professionalism. Jordan put together a great team of skilled, respectful and kind workers with Elias at the helm leading the crew, masterfully. Everyone involved with the project went above and beyond my expectations. I would highly recommend this company.

Where do I start? My husband and I wanted to renovate our kitchen without really putting too much thought into exactly what we wanted. So happy I chose this contractor for remodeling my kitchen and bath. I had Craig as my project manager. He did a phenomenal job organizing multiple home repairs in a timely professional manner. All repairs were done excellently and the clean up was superb. All contractors were respectful and reliable. I had a concrete driveway, a new roof, bathtub with beautiful tiles, a double wall oven put in to existing cabinets etc.
I love the fact that Craig communicated with me and my family members so that we understood details of everything throughout the whole process. No surprises!

They do amazing foundation and masonry work, used them for underpinning and for new home construction. We did a job in manassas and Washington DC.

Craig, Nadira, and Miguel did a fantastic job remodeling our kitchen and bathroom. Especially in the current times with labor shortages and supply chain issues, the KCG team completed our project quickly and efficiently! The best part was that they were able to complete 80% of the work while we were out of town during the December holidays. They kept us updated daily with pictures that showed us the progress. In total, we were able to complete the project in 4 weeks. I would highly recommend KCG for any significant home improvement project you are looking to take on! Agree with other posts about unrealistic estimates. KCG estimate was five times more than other contractors for the identical work order. Frustrating people to deal with as well. On several interactions the KCG rep would listen to and agree with my requests, only to ignore them and attempt to do something superfluous to increase cost. I parted ways with them quickly.

I’m pretty sure the positive reviews are fabricated. I’m not sure where these estimate numbers come from, but it sure isn’t reality. I would recommend having them come out and give an estimate so you can laugh and waste their time because it will be done to you. Example. I have a 20 sqft bathroom with 7 ft ceilings. They gave an estimate of $5,000 for replacing sink with a pedestal, replacing the toilet, and new tile. A toilet-$100, a sink $150, and 2 cases of tile-$70, where does $5,000 come from? Let me reiterate, A 20SQFT BATHROOM, do you know how small that it is, mind you this price doesn’t include materials just labor. Quick math- this company would charge me $250 a sq foot, that’s more than the value of the house. That’s just one estimate, I have many more! But I think you can see the rip-off in this one example. STAY AWAY! If you use them I promise you will be completely overcharged and they will laugh at you for being todays idiot.

I live overseas and was looking for a company to renovate my home In the Washington DC area. I was concerned about designing a full bathroom renovation remotely but Karma construction made it easy and the final product exceeded my expectations. karma has has a team of highly experienced design and construction professionals who work with you to ensure high quality, on time completion and within budget. I received great advice on design and functionality which greatly improved the final product. The team worked with me remotely using zoom calls for design and product selections, posted daily update throughout the construction process on their user friendly on line system (also provided ease of payment) I felt completely updated at every step. The team was super easy (and fun) to work with and I enjoyed the process. The total experienced exceed all expectations and I would definitely engage Karma again for our next renovation. We used Karma to renovate an existing sunroom which was an addition on the exterior of the home. They demoed a brick wall with windows and removed the door that led into the room making it flow as a natural extension of the home, fully insulating and wiring to code. This also involved raising the floor to be on level with floor in the home and rebuilding the steps to the back yard. Craig came out to do the proposal and was great to work with, we went back and forth a couple time discussing options and he was always ready to answer any questions and rework the quote. Once we signed the contract the project started on time and was completed on schedule, it was about a 2 1/2 week project and the crew did a great job. All design touches were discussed beforehand and there was nothing that was left unaccounted for so when they were done that was it. Would use Karma again for any remodel or addition.

When I realized I needed extensive repairs and renovations of my office I had in mind to get competitive bids before deciding on a contractor. But after my 1st meeting with Karma I was impressed with their responsiveness and design ideas and decided to go with them. Their bid came in very reasonable and they started right away. Thanks to the project manager, Craig Pinto, there was never a break in their work schedule and they got me back open and operating surprisingly quick. They have a great team of workers who delivered quality with attention to detail and responsiveness to my many changes and industry needs. Happy that I chose Karma Construction! I initially contacted Karma for a few projects: Paint and install custom front and storm door, back porch storm, custom fence, and shed. Firstly, everyone from the office made sure that all of the administrative tasks were handled and made easy: Invoicing, payment, and scheduling.
Even though it was a relatively small job, I connected with the owner Jordan, and managers Brad and Phil. They wanted to make sure that all the details were covered and my questions answered.
Craig, my project manager, who's customer service is stellar and has excellent communication skills, checked in with me at all times (phone/text and in-person). He made regular site visits; he knows how to lead his team and paid attention to all the details to make sure that the project was a success!
Nafta, Leo, Darwin, and Ron executed the work like pros. They exceeded my expectations. They were great at the worksite: knowledgeable, focused, efficient, action-oriented, and skillful. When they left the worksite, they left it clean and orderly.
Lastly, my experience with KHD across the organization was fantastic! They do what is agreed upon. They utilize technology at the office to make the client experience modern and efficient. They are professionals, accommodating, accountable, trustworthy, and, most importantly, did excellent work!
My only regret is, after a nightmare experience with another contractor, I wish I contacted them sooner. I would highly recommend KHD, and I am looking forward to working with them all on my next project!

Karma redid my siding and my entire flat roof. We have a huge townhome in Washington DC which was very hard to get to. Our other roofer did not do a good job and Karma was able to fix a lot of coping mistakes. They are truly great! Also helped with my insurance adjustment for the painting and drywall, they were very communicative. Would recommend as general contractors.

I just had a kitchen, bathroom, and roof replaced at my home in Dupont Circle. I was stunned with the results, the roof took 3 days to replace the slate and flat portion of it. The kitchen and bathroom took about 6 weeks, but its because we wanted custom cabinets and nice countertops. They did a great job in making it open concept and providing a great warranty. Thanks again, we will be getting the entire basement buildout and redone as well for my man cave!

Do not hire. Not only did the project magically go way over the estimate but three weeks over schedule. We did not get the flooring we wanted but settled for what a specialist had to come in to do for repair.

And the kicker - the promised reimbursements for hotel costs while the project kept us out of our home were never reimbursed. Instead we've been fighting for the past six months.

Hands down one of the worst contracting experiences we've ever had.

I’m giving one star because I couldn’t figure out how to write a review with zero. I hired Karma to do a kitchen remodel last November. It is now July 24 and this job is still not completed as contracted. This project has been a nightmare every step of the way, largely because Karma has totally failed to do what they said they would do and on top of that has made incredibly poor choices re subcontractors and vendors. The designer they hired for my project had zero actual design knowledge, education, training or expertise. Her self-stated qualification per her website was that she helped her friends decorate their homes. She couldn’t even measure correctly and 35k in custom cabinets had to be remade causing a 6 week delay. Worse yet? Karma actually wanted me to change my design so they wouldn’t have to eat her mistake. The so-called project manager they put on my project had no construction experience, didn’t even show up when he was supposed to, could not follow simple and clearly stated requests/instructions and made a series of stupid and careless mistakes that resulted in delays, cost overruns and a 4x redo of the floor to get it right. And Karma expected me to pay for this! Their workers were sloppy, careless, damaged furniture, walls and fixtures in my house while working unsupervised. Karma purchased 40k in the specialized professional appliances that I picked from a nonservicing vendor who used contract installers who had no clue how to install any of these items. Said installers destroyed the toe piece to a 9k induction range, damaged the sensor in the main zone and then failed to test the range before leaving. They left nails (nails?) stuck behind the freezer baskets of the Subzero refrigerator and stray uninstalled parts in the dishwasher and drawer microwave. Best yet? I paid for the appliances 5 weeks before the install date. Install date arrived, no appliances. Why? Karma didn’t pay the vendor. Net result = 10 day install delay. The so-called carpenters Karma hired to install the cupboards and panels for the built in appliances couldn’t figure out what panel or door went where and destroyed so many elements by cutting them up for trim that there were yet more delays for replacement pieces to be built. The custom concrete island had to be resealed and reinstalled because the same workers banged it up when replacing the floor baseboards around it. I could go on but I think I’ve made this all pretty clear. This was the worst, most stressful and gut-wrenching 125k I’ve ever spent in my life. I went into this thrilled beyond belief to be able to have the kitchen of my dreams. Karma robbed me of every ounce of the joy I should have been able to take in this and that is even worse than the total lack of value they gave me for dollars spent. Overall I consider choosing Karma to be in the top 5 biggest mistakes I’ve ever made in my life and the most egregious waste of money I have ever engaged in. My opinion? Call Case. I should have.

Karma recently came for an estimate to repair and replace our copper metal roof. They also did a solar consultation. We ended up doing both, and the roof looks great! Nice 7 year warranty and they are certified with a some nice Vendors. The solar is going through permitting and we excited to get it installed. We are thinking of working with them for our deck and patio as well. Will update the review of anything changes!

Karma helped me with my roof when we had leaks in last months storm. There was lots of interior damage to my floors and walls and they were able to take care of it all. New flat roof and trim work looks great. One of the better ones in the DMV area.

I spoke too soon. I originally gave this company 5 stars for replacing my carport roof. Now it's 4 years later and it leaks terribly. I had someone come out who pointed out all the things that were wrong. Says the whole thing must be replaced. I emailed the company several days ago and they have not responded.

Horrible. If you are thinking of using this company please look to another. We called out a contractor to our house which required a simple estimate. We were told 4-5 business days for an email estimate. 3 months later after numerous phone calls to the company and main contractor we have gotten no response. Complete disregard for their costumers. Needless to say we moved on to more professional and reliable company. Please pass them on this if considering.

KHD did a major two-story front addition remodel/rebuild and we couldn't be happier! The whole team was a pleasure to work with and they will meet you where you are (whether you want to be hands off with your project or in the thick of it). They are fairly busy, so our project sometimes lost some momentum prior to the actual build, but we are equally to blame for long lags in our replies to their emails. Once the build started, the project proceeded more quickly, smoothly, and professionally than any other project we have done with anyone else! We have been thrilled with the end result-- KHD is committed to attention to detail, precision and quality. But above this, our project manager Adam was our advocate and partner in all things. He deserves kudos as he advised us all along the project and as change orders happened (which are bound to happen with any job of this size) he really advocated for us and got us the best result possible. Everyone we came across had a genuine passion and pride in their work. And when things weren't up to Adam's high standards (which was rare because the whole team is highly skilled), he would make them do it again until it was perfect. We have really appreciated Adam's and KHD's honesty, quality, and workmanship. We will definitely use them again for any project large or small. This is the only construction company we trust!

I have worked with Karma on a number of projects. I could not be more impressed. This is a company that truly lives up to their name. They treat their clients to first rate service and results, good Karma all around. I have seen their award winning designs for various bathrooms and kitchens around the DC area, and they are fantastic! Karma Home Designs is truly and all around general contractor and remodeling service. They have the specialists and tradesman for any type of job, whether it be an out door living space and a new deck, that addition and finished basement you have always wanted, or a whole home build or remodel. Karma has everyman for the job. The best part about working with Karma is that they are actually located right in DC! Kris, one of the owners has been doing construction in DC for over 20 years, the management at Karma has over 50 years combined. They are true professionals who pride themselves on treating their customer fairly and giving them the results they deserve. it has been a pleasure working with them on several projects and I would recommend them to anyone who is looking for great design, quality products, and unbeatable price and value.

I recently bought a home in Alexandria, VA using a 203k loan. Originally, I went with a contractor that was recommended by my realtor, and he BAILED on me!! My realtor's referral left me high and dry, in the middle of the loan process, which put the purchase of my home in jeopardy. Then, after thorough searching, I found Karma - and they came in and saved the day- saved my new home! They picked up right where the previous contractor left off, with the lender's paperwork, and began renovating shortly after my 203k loan closed.

Jordan and his team were/are extremely professional, have great communication skills (flexible communication via email, phone, text, and in-person), and are extremely trustworthy. I even left on vacation (for 2 weeks) while they continued the renovation process - and the work continued without a misstep.

The materials used and finishes were wonderful - better than I ever expected. Karma completed a full kitchen remodel (complete with new appliances, quartz counter-tops, and lighting), converted a hall closet into a laundry closet (the old washer/dryer were in the kitchen), installed beautiful wood flooring throughout the house, and installed a new stair case (to match the new flooring). All completed on time and within a reasonable budget!

The renovation process went so smoothly. There were a few hiccups, but Jordan and his team were so prompt and attentive which made for a virtually stress-free process. I am not an easy customer - I have very high expectations. Karma, by far, exceeded my expectations. In a strange way I am grateful that the previous contractor quit... it ended up being good karma for me.

I had the pleasure of working with Karma Home Designs recently, and I have to say, that it was a great experience. They were extremely professional, dedicated and knowledgeable about every question that I had. Not to mention, I never had to worry about any lack of response. Any question I had would immediately be answered, even after what I would consider to be "office hours." We wanted to redo our kitchen in Northern Virginia and get some other bathroom and basement home renovations done and they have made this process incredibly easy for me. I've hired Karma Home Designs twice for plumbing repairs. They have affordable prices that can't be matched with quality workmanship. They are now my go to guys for house repairs and renovations. It's hard to find honest reputable contractors these days and Karma is above the rest. Hire them and you won't be disappointed.

These guys came and did my kitchen remodel. They totally killed it! They were very professional and even gave me some freebies, the places we got tile from was gorgeous!! Great contractor in the DC area. Will be calling them sooner for my bathroom!

Karma Home Designs came out and did an estimate for my Day Care, they were very professional and very well priced. They took their time during the consultation and we went over designs for the new kitchen and bathrooms, as well as fixing the roof and windows. These guys do high quality work and are local in DC. Totally recommend.
