Buyer beware!! Avoid!!

Nothing good has come from working with JOT.
JOT was hired to paint the interior of my house. not only was the job never completed however the work they did was botched at best. I was charged for a primer and two coats of paint, when only one was provided and you can clearly see the undercoat color of the current paint.
Jot was hired for a full replacement of their new TPO roof. Again, another botched job to where I’ve had multiple leaks in different parts of my house. The owner Tim does not reply. If you paid JOT consider your money gone.

Very responsive at first. But there were some minor communication issues that the company resolved. Tim personally called me and rectified all the issues and completed the task. He went above and beyond. Thank you.

Used for fence and trek deck install. Very unreliable, but quick with excuses. The worst part is the sub-standard work that will need to be repaired by a new contractor. More specifically, warped gate and warped deck (their response—that shouldn’t happen) but after a year of trying to get them to fix multiple problems, I’ve concluded they aren’t going to fix it. Avoid.

I would never use this company for any services ever. I paid for them to replace a flat roof and repair damages caused by the water infiltration including patching where water may enter in the future and patching/replacing sheetrock and painting that was done. I also paid for them to notch, punch, and hang doors.

Jenny (owner’s wife) submitted a quote after Tim (owner), outlined the work and the materials in August, I paid a deposit and work began in September. The issues immediately started.

Tim walks the site for the quote but is rarely if ever found on site to review materials or quality of work. They quoted me for materials that I paid for, and used INFERIOR and CHEAPER materials. After I confronted Tim, he lied about the materials, I had to remind him that my boyfriend in fact was an architect and knew that the material in the pictures (I asked for status pictures at EOD) where not what was quoted. He never rectified this issue.

My boyfriend and I had to walk the roof and have the workers fix quite a few issues that were scoped out and discussed as a part of the work including a CLEARLY distressed chimney that would have allowed for water penetration upon ANY rain. The roofers had to come back 3 times for the issues to be resolved. Tim? Once.

The work inside of the house? Still not done. There are gashes in doors, My ceiling? covered in gray primer for THREE months and counting. Door frames? Split, cracked, and not fixed. I have called. I have attempted to reschedule. I have sent emails. Texted pictures and STILL have not heard back from them. Tim’s preferred way of working is to have you the customer GC and quality check the work – because he is not able to or willing to do so. In fact, he attempted to blame me for not correcting the work in real time, as if I am the foreman. You’re better off getting a bunch of “handy men” and throwing them in a room to do the work because that is effectively what Tim does.

They will promise you the moon, and at the end of it you will have wished you never even asked them for the quote.

I hired JOT to do a door replacement and the first day of instillation they never showed up. No call no show nothing ! I spoke With Tim and he apologized for not showing up and promised they would be out the next day to do the install and showed up late. On top of showing up late his “worker” never showed up to assist with the instillation so the work was never completed. I cancelled they’re project due to the negligence and inexperience of Tim and this bogus construction company. It was easier having Home Depot install the door! I would not recommend this company to family or friends! STAY AWAY!

Update 4/5/2024
Bought an entire new flat roof from them to fix leaking issues and it’s never stopped leaking. They don’t come when they say they will and they created new issues that have never been fixed. A huge waste of money. Believe the bad reviews.

Had an excellent experience with JOT Home Repairs. I used them to seal our flat roof and install a new gutter. Tim was great at communicating exactly what was needed and did not try to convince me of doing unnecessary work. His wife Jenn was very quick to respond as well to any questions and both made sure that the work was done to my satisfaction. They were also fairly priced which is not always a given in the area. I would definitely use them again!

I can't say enough great things about Tim and his company. Not only is Tim (the owner) very responsive, but he also ensures that the work his men perform is top notch. We had our home exteriorly painted and our roof repaired. Tim was there every step of the process and his crew was a pleasure to deal with. You can tell they have great passion for what they do. Tim's wife Jennifer is also a pleasure to work with. Every estimate they sent was reasonable and best of all, we were able to pay with credit card! That was a true bonus to us. I would call upon JOT Home Repairs again in a heartbeat. Thank you Tim and Jenn! Until next time!

Tim the co-owner promised the job, remodeling our master bathroom, would take no more than three weeks to complete. That was more than two months ago, and it is still not complete. They had to fire their lead guy on this job half-way through the project because he was always late, and twice did not even show up. They also hire contractors for parts of the jobs. Now we are still waiting on the folks to install the shower glass door (at least another two weeks), originally they ordered the wrong kind because they apparently forgot where the toilet is located! Truly a disappointing experience.

Service questions
1. Should I stay home during roof replacement?

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
