Shout out to window installers, Clay, Tommy and Bryan for doing a fantastic job installing new windows in my home. They were friendly, professional and experienced. They even fixed the mistakes the original window installers made. Also a big shout out to Emma for getting this all set up and always having a friendly and bubbly personality. Thank you Hartnagel Building Supply.

Great community asset. If they don't have what you need, they'll get it or send you to someone who has it

10/10 Highly recommend. Employee owned hardware store. Everyone is great to deal with. Super helpful staff! Very comfortable atmosphere. Had everything I needed for a DIY project. Will shop here again!

I can't say enough good things about the staff. As a single mom on a budget, I can't afford to hire out repairs on my house. I fix it all myself. The folks here have helped me with: multiple plumbing repairs, building bookshelves, hanging drywall, building raised flower bed boxes, and building a fence (plus many other small projects). They've been a place for encouraging support and knowledge every step of the way.

Valerie helped with a very complicated and important paint choice and she was so patient and helpful. She understood how important the color was and helped match our contrast color.

What a welcome difference from Home Depot. Staff are happy and well trained. They volunteer to help, and what they’re doing. The store is a good drive away for me, but worth it.

Great store. Friendly helpful people. Little different stock than their other store. UPDATE, went there today and the person at the counter who helped me was not friendly. He acted like I was keeping him from his break or something. Next time I go I'm going to try to avoid him. Reducing the rating because of this.

Second update, went there today and was helped by a very nice woman. She was super nice. I intentionally didn't talk to the person who was so rude twice now so I ask her to help me. She made the shopping trip quite nice. I hope she is there next time.
I don't know the rude employees name but if I discover it I'll let her know.

These folks are outstanding!! Needed 6 x 6 x 10 posts for a porch support. Needed 4 of them and the kid came out with 4 or 5 on a fork lift. When I told him what they were for and that they would be exposed, he said, "I have one good one but I really don't want to sell you any of these others do to what you are using them for." Is that great or what and then he gave me a slip to take to there other store across town. Now thats the kind of help I need and appreciate!! Not only that, I did a price check on some other boards and they were close enough to the big box store price that I will buying local. Thanks guys!!

Was very disappointed today, shopped here for years when I owned my own home. I went in with three items on my list. No greetings, no one said can I help you. The employee I finally asked to help me has a mask on when first approached and then took it off to help me. He mumbled and didn’t look at me when he spoke, then kept coming to close to me, ugh I looked around counted ten employees 5 completely maskless. I walked out.

I have always loved Hartnagels but today I go in I need a screw for a 300lb wood stove that is in the back of my truck that I need very bad the guy behind the counter refused to help me find the right screw.. (You need to go somewhere that knows the size you need) I put the stove right on the end of my tailgate within arms reach... Thurman's was more than glad to walk out to my truck and help me.. SHAME SHAME HARTNAGELS it's all about customer service. Now I'm heartbroken I've always like the service In the past but I guess no more small town store here...

As a contractor I'm constantly at hartenagel and they are always eager to help and knowledgeable about products on hand. They also have some of the best prices in Sequim and Port Angeles even comparable if not better than Home Depot

I know they share the same parent company, but I've been spoiled by teh absolutely superior customer service at Angeles Millwork. I rarely have good experiences at this location and the yard seems to always be in a state of disorganization. I hate having to get out of my truck to find people to help me.

Hartnagles and Angeles Millworks are both locally owned. Ivery had an account with them since 1989.
Fantastic employees who are courteous and helpful. Good selection of quality building materials. I'd give them my business every time rather than go to a big box store.

Great small town store. Everyone is always helpful from paint to roofing, or whatever your housing needs are. This is my favorite supply store on this side of the Peninsula.

Pricing questions
1. What is the average roof replacement cost for a residential home?
+-

The average roof replacement cost for a residential home typically ranges from $7,000 to $15,000, depending on factors such as roof size, chosen materials, roof pitch, and labor rates in your area. Premium materials or complex designs may increase the price.

3. What factors affect the overall roof repair cost?
+-

Several factors influence roof repair cost, including the extent of the damage, roof accessibility, material type, labor costs, and whether it’s a general repair or an emergency fix. Minor repairs can start around $150–$400, while major repairs may exceed $1,500.

4. What is the typical roof leak repair cost, and how is it calculated?

Service questions
1. Should I stay home during roof replacement?
+-

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
