We got our door installed, and the baywindows work. The work was done on time, but after it was installed, we had some small repairs still to be done. Our original rep wasn't very proactive, but we were able to connect with Sam, who took ownership of the issues and quickly moved people around to get all the work done. Everything was done quickly, and he always stayed in touch to make sure all the work was done.

Great American did a wonderful job with my home project. They were punctual and did everything I contracted for in a professional manner. I would certainly recommend them for any exterior work needed.

I hired Great American Exteriors to replace the siding on my home. During their initial visit, I received a long sales pitch focused on their customer service, ethics, and BBB ratings. We signed a contract on April 18 with a clearly defined scope and fixed project cost. The scope never changed. The job was to be completed in 4 to 6 weeks, and I paid a deposit as agreed.

I received no scheduling updates and had to follow up twice. On May 29, more than five weeks later, they told me they could not complete the job for the contracted price and asked for about a third more. They admitted the pricing issue was their mistake but blamed the small size of my project, even though they had known that from the beginning.

They did return my deposit but refused to honor the signed agreement. The lack of communication, accountability, and professionalism made this a very disappointing experience. I wish I had seen the many reviews across other platforms sooner.

I was impressed with the quality of work performed in repairing the front brick of my house. They were on time and explained what was done. I would not hesitate in using Great American Exteriors for any home repair or improvement.

After meeting with several exterior contractors we decided to go with GRAMEX. We wanted a company that could do everything that we wanted done: roof, gutters, gutter guards, fascia, soffits, James Hardie siding, stone and a new front door. It was a big project and GRAMEX was up to the challenge! We worked closely with GRAMEX staff during the planning process. They provided us with several addresses of homes that they had worked on so we could see them in person. For us, this was extremely helpful. We also were able to see the materials that they would be using at their showroom in Elmhurst. This allowed us to compare and contrast the various options.

Due to the scope of the project, installation was a lengthy process. Spring weather also contributed to a couple of delays. GRAMEX. did their best to complete the work in a timely manner.

Throughout this project we had the opportunity to work with a group of dedicated professionals, from the owner, Sam to the vice president, Langston to our sales rep, Rob to our project manager, James. It was clear that their priority was that we would be fully satisfied with all the work at the end of the project. The many installers that we got to meet were also experts in their individual fields, taking the necessary time to do each phase of the project carefully and correctly. A plus of GRAMEX is that they hire all their own workers and don’t use sub-contractors. At the end of each day, the workers would clean up our property and store their equipment and materials. This allowed us access to our garage every evening.

Now that the project is done, my wife and I couldn’t be more pleased. We love how our house looks and we have received many compliments from neighbors and family members.

We fully and without reservation recommend GRAMEX! They are totally worth the time and money!

I absolutely love my new dining room window. Installation was clean quiet and professional. I had to ask if there was a screen because it is nearly invisible. Such a clear view to my backyard. The installer was a seasoned professional which inspired a great confidence on my part. I can’t wait to do the rest of the house. I highly recommend Great American Exteriors. Wonderful job.

Great American Exteriors rebuilt our backyard deck, doing a better job than the original installation. They made suggestions on materials that would last longer and need less upkeep, and upgraded the structural support. The project was completed early, on budget, and we are delighted with the results. The bid was very competitive, and all of the Gramex staff were professional and easy to deal with. We will be happy to use them again for any future construction projects.

I hired GRAMEX to install all new windows. They did a terrific job. . From the initial consult with Rob through to completion. Installers Rafal and Kacper were an amazing team, prompt and professional and their workmanship is outstanding. It has only been a few weeks, I am so happy with the windows and would definitely recommend Gramex.

Quality work was completed very quickly to replace our old cracked front stoop. Friendly workers solved small design problems on the day of the job beyond our expectations.

We are super pleased with our new door! We were happy they understood what we needed with the specific design of our house. The installation was a breeze and they did a fantastic job.

The project was done in one day. The workers pulled out my pavers, cleaned them, put them aside, took out the old sand, put in new sand, reinstalled the pavers and pressure wash them. They look like new. I'm happy with the results.

We can’t say enough good things about Great American Exteriors! One of their employees came to our door and we decided to book an appointment for some things we would have eventually wanted a quote on. Rob handled our appointment and was so knowledgeable and helpful that we decided to move forward with new railings. We could not be happier with results, the railings completely transform the look of our entryway. We will definitely be using this company again!

Just had some exterior shutter work done by Great American Exteriors. The whole process went great,from estimates to the finished project.The working crew did a great job and the finished project looks great! Installer told me to cut the foam out later. Not my job to do his job! Took foam off 36hrs later and it looks like this.. $1200 for this???? UPDATE 4/07/25 Great American Exteriors came out on a Saturday and fixed the caulk situation. Look great!

Disappointed, After accepting a quote for exterior siding and sending in a deposit, Nov 13th 2024. The field mesurment representative came, Walked and measured the home The materials were supposed to be ordered and i awaited scheduling for installation.
Jan 6, 2025. i recieved and email stating " the entire wall is rotted underneath the siding and will need to be re-sheeted with new plywood before we can do the siding project. There will be an additional cost of $3700 for the resheeting. The company originally provided a guarantee certificate with the contract stating there would be no additional changes in the price.
This while the siding was never removed, and the wall underneath the siding was never inspected. I suspect this may have been an attempt to cover an error in the contract quote.
It's dissapointing to see this tactic to cover their mistake in quoting a job with false claims.
My deposit was returned and i am now looking for a contractor.

Had Gramex install new gutters and downspouts. They came out way earlier than we expected, did a great job. And the gutters matched the house perfectly!

Very pleased with the Fiberon composite deck.
All questions were answered in a timely manner. The installers were very experienced and professional. I will definitely consider using GRAMEX again for my future exterior needs. Thank you for the awesome composite deck!!

I would highly recommend Great American Exteriors. Their communication from start to finish was fantastic. Their workers were extremely reliable, timely and took great care/pride in our project. We were extremely pleased with the outcome.

These guys had a booth at Kane County Home Show. They made an agreement to come out on a Sunday since it is my only day off. Got the text message 2 days before to remind me of the appointment. Sunday came and I waited for over an hour. Called both numbers and got voice mail. They finally texted me on Wednesday, text not a phone call to say sorry. Do you really want a company that is slow to react and impersonal.
I would not have faith in their warranty or workmanship.
They don't deserve even one star.

I was very pleased with the professionalism and courtesy that was afforded to us from the beginning to the end of our experience with Gramex.

Exceptionally aggressive marketing and sales oriented with little or mediocre construction expertise after probing with basic knowledge construction questions nobody but the owner himself. The reason they demand meeting all decision makers during an appointment is to leave no room for consideration and to pressure prospective clients to make a major decision on the spot based on emotions. This company is extremely heavy on overhead expense driven by their sales tactics that they can not afford competitive pricing even if they want to. Lastly, it comes down to trust and they do not seem to exhibit that quality.

I want to Thank Justin Peacock for the Honest help that I received from him. I was impressed of his quoting process details. Justin provided a cost of the 2 bay and 3 double hung and 1 awning windows. Some 23 years ago I had similar windows install and now they are worn and need to be replace. These New updated windows and the process that make up the material components are far outstanding then 'other' well known quantity company. I have accepted your quote and will work out install date as soon as possible..

I've had the pleasure to work with Great American Exteriors twice now can't say enough good things about them. Their sales staff is great to work with -professional, friendly know their stuff -same for their admin who double check to make sure you're satisfied and their installation crew are experts and you’ll be very comfortable to have them in your home. Garage door bent the frame and bent the connection rod. Thought I would need to replace it. Tim was at the house in under 12hrs of contacting Great American Exteriors. He was able to find the root cause of the door issues. He fixed the door so that we did not need replacement! Great team to work with!!

EDIT/UPDATE:
Shortly after our door was installed we noticed the grids pulling away from the glass and reached out to have it fixed. I emailed promptly in January and it took over a month to receive a response into February. After many more follow emails trying to get a response and answer they finally received the grids and set up time to come out in June….6 months later. The installer came out, was extremely rude and told us he couldn’t do the install and would come back tomorrow. He never showed back up and I received a call later to come out the following week. We set a time and once again didn’t show up to do the work and I had to call to follow up. I was told they were running late but missing materials that needed to be run out. Thankfully the installer that came was very nice and able to complete the job.
This has been a complete nightmare to get this resolved and awful communication. We were planning on using for our window replacement but have now changed our mind after this ordeal and looking elsewhere. While we’re happy with the initial install and look of the door it’s fallen short with quality and customer service. Apparently something they knew with the manufacturer regarding the grids but we were not informed. Our door glass also has a scratch on it which I reached out regarding but still have not received any follow up regarding it even though we were told they would let us know.
I would reconsider considering the poor communication with this company.

I hired GRAMEX to install all new windows and doors. They did a fantastic job. I wish I didn’t wait so long to do the work. My house is quieter and the temperature stays constant. My heating and air conditioning bills have dropped $100 per month. Sam and his team took great care of me.

The door provided is of great quality and very solid. Though it took awhile to get the order process completed. We are pleased with the outcome. Gramex stands by their work and completes it as promised.

Overall great experience and exceeded expectations. Sales guy Derek was great, very knowledgeable and quick with being able to provide an in person estimate and as promised they stood by the estimate amount.

New wall looks great! Tuck pointing seemed to be a breeze along with new siding. They were hard working, finished on time and aimed to please. Plus they were patient with timing as foundational work needed to be completed first.

Only negative feedback was confirmation when they would be showing up. But overall experience was far too great to impact their score. Think a bit more old school sales tactics to paper and pencil estimates.

Great American Exteriors helped us refresh our tired, 55-year old home in several ways. First, they removed an overgrown brick courtyard and replaced it with beautiful, poured and stamped concrete. Now it’s usable and much lower maintenance. Also, they repaired and wrapped our exterior soffits and beams with aluminum, preserving the aesthetic and extending the life of the home. Last, they stained our brick, which truly refreshed the tired look of the house, and provided a natural-looking finish. It’s not painted; so there is still a beautiful variation noticeable between the brick colors. And they delivered on budget and on the exact timeline they promised. Lastly, there are a few punch-list items that remain; I have full faith they will deliver with the same quality and helpful attitude they’ve provided us so far. We are very happy with our choice of partners for this huge (for us) project!

Great working with their team. Very knowledgable about historic construction restoration. Also very patient with all my questions and concerns. My 100 year old historic home now has better than new structural framing inside my 34" wide soffits. My house has unseen built in, hidden gutters. The old wood was crumbling from decades of gutter leaks. The new Douglas fir bead boards are historically accurate and were installed perfectly. My wood fascia was beautifully wrapped in aluminum that maintains the exact profile of the original painted wood sections. This was a big project spanning 140 linear ft. They also added wooden louver vents above each window. Soon to add the final coat of paint and caulking to finish it off for the next 100 years!
The only fault I'll give us that they didn't handle the demolition mess to my satisfaction. But I gladly recommend them.

Great American Exteriors brought my vision to life. Totally changed the look of my house. We are so pleased. The office staff was great to work with - good communication. And the field tradesmen were amazing. They were very thoughtful with the detailing. They were true craftsmen. And a bonus, they kept the site very clean each night too.

We loved the window for our room. It works has quited some of the street noise. We would give 5 stars however the caulk smell was a bit of a bummer. Overall great experience.

We had a great experience working with GAE to replace some of our windows. The salesman was very thorough, the pricing was fair, and the job was well done. The window installer paid extra attention to not damage any of our new landscape/flowers while installing the windows and that was very appreciated.

We had Porticos built over our front door and bay window. They look great and have improved the curb appeal of our home dramatically. The communication throughout the project was excellent. The builder Tony did excellent work and even my neighbors commented on his attention to detail. In fact two of my neighbors have contacted Great American for work on their homes. We had a phenomenal experience. Our front posts/railings were in need of replacement. They were outdated and the wood was rotted. The project started a month earlier than expected and came out spectacular. The front of our house has a completely different appearance and much better curb appeal.

I’ve hired Great American Exteriors for four projects over the years: new garage construction, roof replacement, car pad rebuild, and full house re-siding. Some of these were major efforts.
The fact that I keep going back to them says a lot about my experience.

Two things stand out, and they are most important. First: They always deliver to the original estimate. They never play the game of suddenly “discovering” complications mid-project. Their contract cost is gospel.

Second: the quality of their finished product is exceptional. The work they did on my aging house (built 1950) has given it a new life. As we close the last project, I’m already talking with them about the next. I’m not taking chances with anyone else.

If you speak with an accent they are not thrilled to work with you and the President of the company Sam Sanfilippo does not have a problem sharing this with you in a very sarcastic, weird way. Overall my 2 minutes phone call was very, very weird and told them maybe we are not a good fit which was almost celebrated at the other end. It was borderline rude. Glad that this was clarified at the beginning and did not end up hiring them and wasting any time with them except for this very, very weird phone call and experience.

Re: To the marketing manager Carlos who commented below on my review. Dear Carlos, as you already know this was a phone call with the co-owner of the company. I would love to know how exactly are you going to investigate the owner of the business for his values and conduct and what would be the outcome. If it was not very sad, it would have been very hilarius.

We had an incredible experience from the sales process, follow up, and installation of our windows. Everyone friendly and professional. We love the windows and will be having more installed by American in the near future.

Great American Exteriors have just finished replacing all the windows in our 23 year old end unit condo. They worked with my budget and allowed me to replace the windows in stages. We LOVE our new doors and we got great pricing by signing the day the sales person came in. We had been shopping around for years with competitors and they gave us the best quality for the price.

I loved the ability to give them the exact plant color for the doors so it matches our newly painted exterior.

The men who installed the doors were very friendly, clean and good with my dog.

They did a great job on replacing my old cedar siding with James Hardy board and batten. Marchin and Michael did a phenomenal job. Very neat and clean. Would highly recommend.

We hired Great American Exteriors to remove our existing driveway and replace it with a new concrete driveway. The entire experience was top notch from beginning to end, from working with Sam and Jason, as well as the concrete crew on the project. They even went above and beyond to replace some trim on our garage that was damaged from the previous driveway at no charge. Would recommend this business to anyone looking to increase the value of their home!

We had our old driveway excavated Nd a new asphalt driveway installed. The crew from Great American really worked hard, got the job done in one day, and thoroughly cleaned up after. Totally satisfied

this company basically did not want to meet with me alone for a FREE estimate if my husband is not there. after setting the appointment they decided to cancel for that reason. I asked to speak to the manager, Sam the manger give a useless explanation asked if I can pay $100 consultation fee since the appointment does not include my husband then started to list the prices on the job I was asking for like I needed to make a decision without seeing materials they offer during the consultation. Tried explaining to him that we both work and have unpredictable schedule but no use. Terrible experience, don't waste your time, he mentioned we are not sexiest but sure it sounded like they are. DO NOT USE

Wanted to share what a great experience we recently had with Gramex. Starting with Rob who came out and gave us some great input. They took off our beige vinyl siding and installed Deep Ocean Hardie Board. What a transformation of our home! Our neighbors can't believe it either. Through the process everything was very thorough with good communication. They are true professionals and I highly recommend their services. Well exceeded our expectations.
