I just had some roof maintenance done at my home and wanted to share that Sandra the owner made sure I was a happy customer. Her prices are reasonable, the workers professional, and the maintenance was done right away.

Got to my house quick, and were out of there quick. Very informative, easy to work with and good quality work.

The owners of General Roofing are great people. I was their neighbor for many years and got to know them well. They put a new roof on the building of my business and are very professional. I wouldn’t hesitate to hire them again if I was in need of any roofing needs.

Absolutely love this company. The owners as well as the company workers are absolutely amazing. Extremely polite, informative, clean and professional. I have been using this company for over eight years and every time the job is done extremely well and always in the time frame that they quote me. They are absolutely reasonably priced and try to work within your budget as best as they can. I use them for all my roofing needs. I would strongly recommend them to anyone looking for a good, well priced, clean and professional job. And did I mention how awesome the workers are at keeping the area clean and safe. That’s a huge plus since I have 2 kids and a dog.

We cannot say enough about the great experience we had with General Roofing. After getting several bids for a full re-roof of our home, we decided to go with General Roofing due to their years of experience and competitive pricing. We had several questions regarding the process, and the owners were patient and extremely knowledgeable. Both Chad and Sandra communicated with us promptly and professionally. We always knew what was going on during the entire process, courtesy of their check-ins. They made everything as seamless and painless as possible for us.
The crew that worked on our home was also stellar. They were quick and efficient, and the roof looks amazing. No materials were left behind, as they had meticulously cleaned the area. They were nice enough to clear out some gunk we had in our gutters while they were up there, too. In addition to all that, we happen to have two satellite dishes on our home they had to work around. They were able to disconnect and then reattach them to our home with ease. We didn't even need to have a technician come out to recalibrate the dishes, they were THAT GOOD. What more can one ask for?

Edit: Six years later and still a horrendous company with zero accountability or customer service. They replied to a six year old review with some bizarre claim about “excessive pet waste.” You guys are still a joke of a company! Owner of the company talked to me 6 years ago and agreed there was no excuse for how bad they did on this job. Not only was there no pet waste, my dog couldn’t go in the yard because of how many nails, cigarettes, plastic wrap, and other garbage they left. BEWARE, BAD COMPANY ALL AROUND!

Original review: Originally they deserved zero stars, but after weeks of them not returning our calls to find out if they were done with the roof and whether they were coming back to pick up the nails left in our yard they finally did answer, so that earned them a whole star. Aside from their actual roofing work, which seemed fine, they are a messy crew all around. We had cigarettes, knee pads, plastic wrap, pieces of shingles, and an excessive amount of nails to pickup after they left. I can understand some mess considering they did most of the roof in the dark and in between days of snowfall, but I would have expected them to come back in the daytime to do a once over of our yard and attempt to leave things as they found them.

My husband and I have put over $40,000 of upgrades and repairs into our house since we moved in 2.5 years ago. With all the companies we have dealt with, General Roofing was by far the best experience. John managed the entire roof replacement and he treated our house like it was a palace and not the small 40 year-old home that it is. His attention to detail and pride in his product was very refreshing. All of the crew members were very kind and they walked us through every step and updated us daily by a phone call and pictures (we we unable to come home to meet them at the end of each work day to see the product in person). Sandra and John both understand a budget and found a way to give us an awesome quality product that fit our price range. We cannot wait to hire them for more projects. Yes! They do more than just roofs!

The owners are honest, hardworking, family people. They do quality work and the timelines are great. You're getting the owner out on the job, not a superintendent jumping from company to company. I would endorse the work they do.

We hired General Roofing Company April 2016 to replace our roof. The crew was very understanding and friendly. Minimal amounts of debris in our yard which was cleaned up after each shift. Total work time was exact to estimate leaving a great looking roof and no mess behind. Both yard and gutters were cleaned before finishing and the owner verified that I was satisfied as well! Very happy with the work done!

I called Earhart before they seemed like they did not know what they they were doing. I found general roofing knew what they were talking about I had many questions and they seemed very calm about things

I called and scheduled an appointment for a roof repair two days ago. They said they'd call when they would be on their way, I haven't heard from them since. Next.

Update: They finally called me today. While they were helpful in trying to get a crew out to my house today since they had slipped up, I asked for a later show time to adjust for my work schedule on short notice. The gentlemen on the phone was talking to someone else in the background and he seemed annoyed to have to work his schedule to accommodate this issue. With a $400 minimum in Eagle River and knowing that my roof would be treated like an inconvenience to them I opted to find another company. Perhaps this is an isolated incident and they do great work, but this one was not for me.

I hired General Roofing in October, 2012 to repair my residential roof and paid a 50% deposit. They committed to get it done by mid-November but slipped the job week after week until Christmas week when it was snowing hard. They said they could probably do it but acknowledged it wasn't the best conditions. We agreed to hold off until March and I would be their priority. March passed, April, May, June, all with numerous excuses as to why they couldn't get to the job. Finally got to it the last couple days of July and finished in August, 2013. They'll give you a good quote, but don't believe it, they will get plenty of extra out of you. Once they have your deposit, there's no sense of urgency to meet your needs and live up to their proposed schedule. There are plenty of other roofing contractors in Anchorage; move on to the next!
