My wife and I are BIG fans of F&S! They totally exceeded our expectations and built a fine-looking garage with office space below. Thier attention to detail from the start of the project to the end never wavered. Jason and Mitch helped us pick the best location on our property for the project. Mitch and his crew of Eli, Aaron and Nehemiah are hardworking and take pride in what they do. We recommend you consider F&S for your build or remodel. You won't be disappointed!

Note--the following was posted after a 5-day wait for a response to my inquiry about a bill. The bill was adjusted, but we weren't contacted with either an apology or explanation. Good work, poor communication. ((Very disappointed. 4 years ago, they built a screened-in porch for us. Quality job, except for the screen door, which was poor quality. Now--a squirrel tore a hole in the screen. I called to arrange a repair. No response for over a week, so I called again. I was assured someone would call back. Several weeks later, I got a call to come do the repair. I wasn't available just then, so they called back in a few days saying they could come almost immediately. The repair crew was unable to quote a price, but didn't expect it to be high. The repair took between 30-45 minutes at most. We were billed for THREE hours. I called to question it; I was told that they charged for transit time AND time to pick up materials. They already had the screen when they called, and their facility is less than 1/2 hour from us. I was told that "Jesse" would review the charge and call me back. Four days later, he has not called. They were happy to have our business originally, and did a good job, but follow-up service has been very disappointing.)) Rating was changed from 1 star to 4 after the adjustment.

Did not use but based on how their driver acted following me down the road this morning, I have been left with a very bad impression. Riding my bumper, cutting me off, weaving in and out of traffic recklessly, speeding…
If this is how the employees act while driving a company vehicle KNOWING they are representing their workplace, I don’t want to know what level of work they consider acceptable.
Get your drivers under control and let them know their actions behind the wheel translates into business or lack thereof for you.

We tried since 2019 to have some projects done in our older home. Ran into Patti at the Salem Home Show in April and they started when they said and managed to make things work in a home with uneven floors and not squared rooms!

I can’t say enough good about the home repairs that F&S have done for me. They completed everything in a timely manner. The staff were all very helpful to explain options and to answer all of my questions. I have definite plans to use this company in the near future for more work at my home.

We recently had our kitchen renovated and our screen porch made into a sun room. 2 years ago F&S also renovated our bathrooms. F&S provided a quality product complete with professional, skilled and friendly personnel. They were responsive to any concern or question and always kept us informed and up to date. Jessie, the Design Consultant, was spot on and Patti, the Job Superintendent, (who we specifically requested after working with her previously) was exceptional. We give F&S our highest recommendation.

F&S built a new 3 car garage for us. From the early design stage with Alicia to project management and completion with Mitch, our experience could not have been better. They gave us great and thoughtful advice, started and finished on schedule, materials arrived when planned, communication was excellent and team members were very professional. We were always kept informed if there were changes to planned work. We have worked with many contractors, and we could not provide a higher recommendation.

Bathroom remodel contract stated 15 WEEKDAYS and began on May 31st. As of August 10th, our bathroom is still not complete.
The first problem began with the tile. The subcontractor installed the tile and bullnose, which had extremely visible lippage due to uneven tiles and the corners where the bullnose was supposed to meet were gaps filled with grout. F&S agreed that it should be removed and laid again. F&S had already installed our vanity and toilet during this time frame so they only removed the tile in the open area of the bathroom, not under the vanity or around the toilet. Tile was laid a second time, same issues with lippage and no correction to the bullnose. F&S agreed that it was not acceptable and was going to send the same guy back to fix it. We refused to let the same guy return as we had already spent 2 weeks just on the floor with the same unacceptable results. We waited another week for a different subcontractor. F&S removed the double sink vanity and toilet, which sat in our bedroom for a week, and removed all of the tile and bullnose. They sent Brandon, who did an amazing job laying the tile on the floor and around the bathtub. F&S credited our bill $1,000 for the inconvenience.
Other issues resulted from things being done out of order. The vanity, light fixtures, and outlets (which are black) were installed before the drywall was finished. The electrician told me he should not be installing the outlets and lights until the drywall was completed and shared his concern with our project manager but was told to install them anyway. Just like the electrician said would happen, the drywall dust got all over and in them.
The baseboard was installed after the vanity was already in place so there is baseboard missing behind half of our double sink vanity.
We wanted to reuse the wood trim we had around the window. When they hung it back up, it was not centered around the window, which left visible nail holes below the window. After we mentioned it, they came out and put putty over the holes, they never fixed the trim. We requested that they come back again and actually hang it correctly, which they finally did.
The huge issue we are dealing with now is the shower surround, which was installed by Star City Plumbing. We found a fire retardant pad and foam strip in our garage that was not installed with the surround. Plumbers putty was also put around the floor drain, which has cracked, and the wrong screws were used. We contacted F&S about the issues.
We were told that the plumber never installs the pad or foam and has never had any issues with the way he installed the surround. F&S said they stand behind their subcontractor's work and it did not need to be corrected because it was installed per industry standards. We sent F&S an email from Delta stating that the pad and foam were required and not to use plumbers putty or drywall screws. The 10 year Delta warranty was voided because it was not insalled per manufacturers instructions. We asked for a credit to our bill with the plan of hiring someone else to correct the shower surround and hang the shower door. F&S said they would write us a letter saying they would guarantee the shower for 10 years. They credited our final bill for $500 and an additional $150 to install the shower door ourselves.
When we began installing the door, we discovered there were no boards placed behind the surround where the door attaches. We called F&S on Aug 10th and were given suggestions on how it could be fixed without removing the surround, like using spray foam. We refused all of the bandaids he suggested.
F&S then said they would remove the surround and correct the issues.
I said to F&S several times that I'm over this project and I just want my house back. I am a stay at home mom with an infant and a toddler and had contractors in and out for weeks.
We would not recommend this company due to constant issues and the inability to complete a simple remodel in a reasonable amount of time.

F&S did a great job tearing down an existing deck carefully so I could repurpose most of the boards. New construction consisted of screen in porch and an additional extension deck with provisions for a gas fire pit. Everything about the project was stress free, starting with the quotation and planning stage to final construction. Everyone in the process was very professional and addressed/resolved any issues as they came up in a timely manner . I would recommend F&S to anyone regarding any home improvement projects.

Due to shoddy construction that was done 20 years ago, my sunroom sunk about 3 inches. F&S jacked it up, installed proper footing and the everything lined back up. The windows were all aligned, the door now works and all I had to do was some minor sparkling and pain inning and the room looks as good as new.
Thank you F&S, especially Jesse, the foreman

We were so impressed with the kind, compassionate customer service and quality work the F&S team provided to our home! We needed a support beam placed in our kitchen to replace 2 awkwardly placed pillars. They were so clean and organized. They even have their own financing company which is also very good. We have small children and the workers were so considerate and friendly to us. I am so grateful we chose to have our work done with them. We will definitely call them for future projects!!

The "2 Josh's" came to our house and worked on our sunroom for 2 weeks. They were ALWAYS on time, worked diligently and did an exceptional job. Jesse (the contractor) and Jason (sales rep/designer) were professional, responsive, and informative. F & S stood head and shoulders above every other company we interviewed and have worked with. (And believe me, we have interviewed a LOT of other companies) They are not the cheapest option out there, but there is a good reason for that. Their work is of the highest quality, their communication is consistent, and their customer service is top notch. I will DEFINATELY recommend them and use them again.

I used F&S for a bathroom renovation in March 2022. Easiest reno I've ever done!! Will use them again and again! Texted me daily updates and photos, asked questions throughout the process to make sure they were meeting my design needs, provided helpful suggestions during the process. Finished on-time, on-budget. Professional and thorough team doing high-quality work. I feel grateful to have found them!

I recently had my kitchen remodeled by F&S. My Project Manager, Patti, was TOP NOTCH!!! Definitely ask for her if you are doing a Kitchen or Bathroom remodel. She was always available to answer any questions I had. She addressed any concerns or issues right away. Her crew was great and easy to work with. We had a couple of hiccups towards the end of the remodel and Patti was on top of it. Extremely happy with my Kitchen!

F&S installed a sunroom for us in 2004. They did an outstanding job then and the sunroom has maintained in good repair. We had one leak this winter and F&S serviced and cleaned the entire sunroom for us yesterday. Paul and Josh were great and did an outstanding job. Sunroom looks like new! Gail in the office has been very responsive and kept us informed when scheduling changes were needed. I highly recommend F&S if you are considering a sunroom.

I was behind one of the vans this morning, while it was snowing, in morning traffic, when their van in the left lane decided to throw a couple of Coke bottles out the window- at highway speed. You know who you are, and could have got someone injured or worse.

I hired F&S Building Innovations for my kitchen renovation at Smith Mountain Lake. I hired them because I wanted a family owned local business with great reviews. They did not disappoint. Alicia, Jessie and Deep were extremely responsive to all my emails and texts. They were an absolute joy to work with in terms of responsiveness, professionalism, attention to detail, providing solutions and keeping me informed about progress and budget. Our house is a log cabin which created special issues to work around for electrical, back splash, lighting etc. Alicia and Jessie were a great resource for design and ideas and Deep made sure it happened. My kitchen is finished and I love it - it's a game changer! I would highly recommend F&S for any construction needs.

The customer care of a Four Seasons Sun Room is good. After talking with Mr. Lee, Jesse, and Paul we figured out the the source of my sun room leaks and I was able to make repairs. I really appreciate their patience with me and the support they rendered for my Four Seasons Sun Room.

F&S built a sunroom for us about 7 years ago. We obtained quotes from couple different local contractors. We chose F&S because we liked the vinyl option Four Seasons had at the time. We did not consider the service aspect when making the original decision and that was a mistake.

We've tried to get them to help with some leak issues and exterior caulking. We cannot get a phone call returned or a quotation from F&S. I spoke with a person that was supposed to call me back but I have not heard from him. I left another voice mail but again have not heard back from him.

Unfortunately, no other contractors will help with the Four Seasons sunroom. There are no other dealers in the Roanoke area. I highly recommend if you're considering a sunroom to evaluate the service after the fact as much as you're evaluating the up front installation.

F&S just completed some work on our deck. They were professional, courteous, friendly, and always kept us informed about where things were. We appreciated them so much we've already placed a call to begin talking about a couple of smaller jobs.

My mom used F&S several years ago for an addition on her master bedroom. Extremely pleased with the estimate, the work, the staff and most importantly quality and clean up. Currently she is having F&S update her windows with more efficient products. A few weeks ago she fell in the bathroom. I contacted F&S and asked to talk about installing a safety rail for her. I was absolutely amazed at the quick response in getting over there and installing railings for her. She’s happy and a lot safer now. I would strongly recommend F&S because of their dedicated employees, quality of work, and professionalism. If you want it done right the first time and with a professional outcome, you absolutely must call F&S.

1. What is the average roof replacement cost for a residential home?
+-

The average roof replacement cost for a residential home typically ranges from $7,000 to $15,000, depending on factors such as roof size, chosen materials, roof pitch, and labor rates in your area. Premium materials or complex designs may increase the price.

Service questions
1. Should I stay home during roof replacement?

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
