F&J did an awesome job repairing the flashing on our house after strong winds damaged the peak. They came out within a couple of days and had everything fixed and as good as new. Communication was easy and they showed up when they said they would and it was fixed before we knew it. The price was very reasonable and their professionalism was top notch. Thank you! I had 2 sets of French doors installed (by another company). However, one of the doors was defective and had to be reordered from the manufacturer. The set of doors that were finished did not seem right – air flow, closing. So I reached out to F&J Builders LLC to assess the situation with the new doors.
F&J Builders arrived the next day. He assessed all of the doors and diagnosed the problems which he clearly communicated to me, also with various pictures. He was professional, friendly and courteous. So I hired F&J Builders to repair, water tight the doors and replace the defective door. F&J Builders team arrived the next morning and proceeded to solve all the issues with the doors.
The next day the painting team came to sand, prime and paint the interior and exterior French doors. They look absolutely beautiful and close perfectly - thanks to F&J Builders! Excellent workmanship. Great service! I would definitely recommend F&J Builders to anyone looking for a reliable and trustworthy builder. I was impressed with their attention to detail! 5 stars

destroyed my kitchen and bath. wrong floors....vanity STILL does not fit, sticks out 2 inches. wrong faucets...wrong counter top...storm door leaking oil for months...flooring glue is still everywhere...I gave them a lot of time (months) to fix the mess and finally had to give up and make them leave...and then they sent me a bill for the entire amount even tho they fixed nothing. save your money , worst experience ever

I can't speak highly enough about F&J. Francis and Jenny are incredible to work with and we couldn't be happier with how our renovations came out.

We had F&J update an existing guest bathroom with a new tub/shower and exhaust fan, completely overhaul our master bathroom with an expanded shower, new vanity and new soaker tub. We also had them finish a section of our basement that had been set up for a bathroom but never pursued with a full bath set up.

We'd also initially planned to have them finish a section of our basement as a bedroom but as we prepared to start work, we learned our septic system needed a complete overhaul, which blew up a substantial portion of our budget.

The team and F&J worked with us to get the project into our new budget and let us take on sections of the project we felt we could tackle ourselves.

I'm sure they probably never want to do that again, because it certainly didn't make the job move faster, but they were incredibly patient with us and we're so happy with how everything came out. Can't recommend them highly enough.

We used F&J for multiple projects and they were quick, clean, knowledgeable, courteous and honest! They turned our old/uneven basement into an awesome playroom, bathroom and laundry room space -- and did it so quickly and efficiently! Hopped into action quickly to do repairs when we had fire damage on a rental property and they will be soon installing gutters for us! We'll go back to them again and again!

They finished a large basement for us -- multiple rooms and a half bath added. They were easy to work with, professional, super communicative and creative with working around old house issues. Definitely will use again!!! They were great!

I used this company twice to replace my roof and install new gutters. They quoted me the best price on the roof job so I came back to them for the gutters. Each time, they were very timely with the quote and I didn't have to wait very long to get the job done. I would highly recommend them!

Everyone we interacted with at F&J was extremely professional and accommodating. They worked with us every step of our renovations and kept open lines of communication. Not only were all of the team members professional, but they were very pleasant to work with and provide high quality finishes. We recently purchased a home in Wilmington, DE that was ready for upgrades. We spoke with F and J about demoing the current fireplace, creating a much larger firebox, and then stoning the two-story fireplace in our family room. Every person on the F and J team was a delight to work with. From the bid to when the last stone was laid, we cannot give enough high marks to this team. They were on time, on budget, and everyone on the team was professional, even becoming like part of the family. I'd highly recommend F and J for ANY home remodel. 100 stars!

Hired F&J Builders to replace our shingle roof and 2 skylights back in September, 2021. We looked at multiple companies and decided F&J was the best value when it came to the combination of price and quality of materials and service. They communicated well, sent me pictures of stripped roof and plywood replacement. Did the job quickly and came back multiple times to magnet sweep. We had one small ventilation issue to be compliant with the manufacturer’s warranty and they came out and fixed quickly and everything came in at the original estimate.

We contacted F&J Builders after seeing their name pop up again again on HGG (Hockessin Gossip Girls fb group) for some work on updating our master bathroom. Their designer came out and we talked about what I wanted done and I told her I wanted to see a few options because I was having a hard time visualizing the changes. She asked for a budget, I told her, and my estimate was low because the price of materials has gone up, inflation, etc and I understand that. I asked her for a rough number and she gave me an estimate, which I was fine with.
We go into the office to see her ideas. She only presents us with 1 idea, after I asked for a few options, and gave me a more firm estimate that was MORE THAN DOUBLE what she initially told me. She claimed this was because the estimate included all “top of the line” items. So I asked for more options and my husband wanted to see an itemized list to see why it was costing more than double. I never heard from them again.
If you’re on HGG and are seeking a “reasonable” contractor, DO NOT contact this company. They probably won’t get back to you anyway.

I finally got my roof and gutters done and I'm so glad I used F & J Builders. They did an amazing job and I'm so happy with their work. Jarrett is the best! Francis thank you for everything!

I’ve had 2 excellent experiences with F&J. The first- they completely gutted and remodeled my small city bathroom. David who gave us the quote actually listened to what I wanted and trusted that I was the decision maker (instead of asking for my husband like another contractor did). He quickly followed through with a reasonable quote and explained the process.
The workers who came to complete my work were complete professionals the whole time. They took great care to clean up after themselves every day which was important to me as I was home with 3 little kids all day. They took their time to do good quality work and to answer any questions I had along the way. The remodel took a little longer than expected but I was after quality, not quickness, and I believe F&J delivered. There was clear communication throughout the entire remodel.
My second experience is that F&J came out very quickly after a nearby house fire to make sure my roof was ok. They found no damage from the fire and didn’t try to upsell anything.
I will not hesitate to use F&J again.

I have nothing but positive things to say about F&J Builders. I hired them for a partial rebuild after my neighbor drove his car through my garage. Although there was a bit of a wait before they could do the work, I understood because that meant they were busy --- which is a good thing! The work they did was excellent. The onsite manager, Matthew, was professional, courteous, and quite wonderful to work with. I'm very happy with the finished product. From rebuilding my garage to match the original design -- to painting -- to the extra gutter guards I had installed -- highly recommend! I will hire them again with confidence.

Dealing with contractors in general is a terrible experience. They never show up on time, they are always over priced and take much longer than expected. F&J changes that experience and is a contractor you can trust with your project. They did amazing work and the best part is that I can count on them to stand by their work. After years of waiting we decided to get our Kitchen remodeled. We researched local companies and F&J Builders stood tall. We couldn't be happier with the finished product. The employees were on time, safe, professional and were more than happy to answer any questions we had during the process. If you want a high quality finish you can't go wrong with F&J.

Two posts that were rotted, were replaced like an Army Corps of engineers had installed the posts. The reason why I make that statement, there was a tweety year Wisteria Vine that was wrapped around one of the posts. The carpenter skillfully removed the old post without harming the Wisteria Vine. My parents had an identical pergola, their posts were rotted and replaced in the same skillful fashion. They too had a Wisteria Vine wrapped around one of the posts and it was not harmed in any way. The skill that was required for that project was similar to an Army Corps engineer feat. I was very impressed with such extraordinary talent. Another amazing project completed by F&J builder.

We had two 30 year old bathrooms remodeled by Francis and his team. The results are absolutely amazing. We asked a lot of questions and nothing was too much trouble. Their communication was excellent from the beginning through completion. Several days before the start we received a work schedule with dates and names. If there was a change we were informed in advance by phone, text or email. The quality of the workmanship is first class. All the guys really took pride in their work, and it shows.
We will definitely use them again for future work.

I reached out Francis and his team to fix some problems we had with a previous contractor. Francis and the entire F&J Team corrected the issues, and did a wonderful job. We called them back to do another project and they knocked it out of the park. They converted an office into a first floor laundry and office nook; and coordinated the installation of hardwood flooring on our entire first floor. F&J is currently doing a 3rd project/job by renovating our 20 year old bathrooms!! Would definitely recommend them and would use them again in a heart beat. We've had extensive amounts of work done to our home by Francis and his team. They've been fabulous! They're trustworthy, honest and respectful of your home, time and needs. They are extremely knowledgeable and hard working. We are about to undergo an entire kitchen redo with them after our experiences with them. ( we've had many builder experiences before in other homes, but this was definitely our most positive!)

Kitchens sell homes. I am very glad I had Francis and his team to help with this remodel. He went above and beyond to give us the kitchen of our dreams! Not only is he a contractor but as we found out, he is also a very good designer. His input on layout and accents was invaluable! He was great at walking us through all the little design ideas as well as connecting us with his business contacts ( which are vast). He often took the time to meet us at different vendors to discuss options and work on pricing. During the whole process his team was in our home unattended and never felt worried at all. His team of employees and contractors are very skilled and trustworthy. Their attention to detail and flexibility to changes was top notch. We are so glad we chose F&J Builders for our remodel and look forward to future projects!

I had no idea about remodeling a kitchen & bathroom. Francis helped me figure it all out. We even did my deck too! We made changes as we moved forward to make things look and work even better! Their team is very responsive to customer needs and pet friendly too!
