I purchased a new wood-stove from first response after hearing great reviews from my neighbors. Alison was personable and knowledgeable on all of their products and was a huge help in finding the right stove. Mark was very professional, he was able to answer all of my questions in detail about the install. He took his time with removing the old wood stove to protect the finish of the hearth. Overall I’m very happy with my experience and will continue to use this company for my fireplace needs.

William Kryssing and Franklin Sternberg responded to assist me with an old gas fireplace. The unit hadn't been used in years due to getting gas service with our steep driveway. It had bats that had made a nest deep into pipes that exit the fireplace. They meticulously cleaned and vacuumed all of the debris out of the entire fireplace and pipes exiting the home. They repainted and scrubbed the old metal walls that had fallen on hard times. They also cleaned and evaluated each component and made sure the fireplace was secured from anything entering that area again. When the gas company responds, they are going to meet with them and test and secure all fireplace gas components for safety. Former first responder owned and operated means a lot too! I can't thank this company enough for brining my family peace of mind as we reignite our fireplace. This company provides real time updates on service times and dates. We had a positive experience with First Response Chimney Stove and Fireplace in Front Royal, Virginia. Our chimney needed to be replaced, but we also decided to replace our woodstove with a more efficient model. Their showroom had many different types of woodstoves, and the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. We selected a Hearthstone Green Mountain 60 woodstove. It fits perfectly in our space and was installed in just a few hours. The installation team arrived on time, explained the project and showed us the unique features of the stove. We are happy to recommend First Response's services to others looking for chimney repairs or a woodstove upgrade.

This place is a joke. I had them come out and do an inspection. They said everything was wrong. The firebox was never built correct. Yeah i dont think so. How could it be built wrong when the house is not that old. I knew i should have listened to the poor comment because they are were right. Now if your reading this review and have read the other reviews. We all know the owner will come on here and bash us for giving an honest and truthful review. They seem to always get mad when someone call them out on there lieing. And over chargeing. If they could get a zero star it would.

The world is full of craziness and selfishness these days. Just when you think there’s no hope for humanity this company show us there is hope. Out of the kindness of their hearts they came out on their own time and replaced the old broken wood stove insert and made a beautiful open fireplace for my 80 year old Mom who is battling stage 4 cancer and lost the love her life a month ago. These guys are hero’s and were professional, friendly, respectful and just overall amazing people. Thank you for restoring my faith in humankind. Highly recommend they definitely deserve more than 5 stars.

Mark, Brandon, and John came out today to install our wood stove into an existing fireplace. Appreciated that they arrived when they said they would. They did a great job getting the stove into position which was no easy feat given how solid it is. Even took the time to go over how it works at the end. New Stoll fireplace glass doors and screen we’re just installed. They look great and appear to function correctly. I compared their price on same exact unit to the fireplace shop in Hamilton VA, and First Response was far less expensive! Always shop around. So glad I found them in Front Royal. Nice people too.

I hired First Response Chimney to reline 2 chimney flues with stainless steel liners. The team around Mark, John and Lee designed a solution that worked with the existing chimney cap. I am very pleased with the outcome. Both flues are drawing nicely. No corners were cut. The team cleaned up nicely after themselves. Mark who lead the onsite team was polite and professional and went the extra mile to ensure the success of the project. Highly recommended !

First Response did a terrific job converting our gas fireplace to a Wood burning fireplace. They were prompt and professional throughout the entire process. I first started dealing with William last fall to have a 2nd opinion of the results of my fireplaces being looked at to determine the best path forward.

The first meeting with William, I was very impressed with his knowledge of the issues and my options going forward. William was also very quick at responding to any questions I brought up along the way to purchasing the fireplace (FP) insert that I had decided to go with. The decision after much research and questioning of features/etc. was to go with the Hearthstone Clydesdale due to it efficiency, size, use of soapstone, and overall looks with a very large viewing window.

I had the team of Mark and Jason do the initial installation of the FP insert and even though they discovered that the manufacturer shorted sending a necessary piece for the front frame installation, they had me up and running before they left. The missing part was ordered and just needed to come in and be installed.

Unfortunately it took about 3 weeks (no fault of First Response) to get the part in and a technician scheduled to come and install it. Shane was the technician who came out to do the installation of the missing part and the front frame unit and did an excellent job of it as well as helping with too much cold air making its way into the house from the FP.

Overall the entire experience has been tremendous and I would highly recommend doing business with First Response Chimney Stove and Fireplace. I look forward to dealing with them for many years to come.

Our chimney was is severely bad shape. We thought I might be completely lost. All the damage over time from not being properly made well before 1980 left it in rough shape.

My new chimney speaks for itself. It is stunning! This "black" brick they recommended blends in perfectly with our home. Also, I am a gardener and I was particularly concerned about my landscape but these guys were neat and thoughtful. Great job!

Unexpected delays, but so worth the wait! They transformed an ugly, poorly placed fireplace into a focal point. And it can heat the whole house to boot.
Everyone was extremely courteous. I especially liked the “on our way” text with a picture of the technician.

Brandon arrived without the tools to do a proper job. He seemed to have no knowledge of why he was sent here. His expert opinion after the cleaning was that I would need a new chimney to be built after tearing down the current structure. After the cleaning, a significant amount of soot extended from the furnace out the door. He left his broom after he realized it did not suck the black up only pushed it around. A three hundred twenty-nine dollar lesson learned. If you have any information that would give me better opinions of your company, please share.

We had been so frustrated by a non-venting, propane firebox for years. We stopped in to First Response on a whim. Went home and thought about it, called and had William give us an estimate. Long story short, one of the best decisions we have made regarding our home. It has made the space so cozy.

We were in the market for a new stove for our basement. Driving by the store I thought it was a new pizza place, I’m glad I went in. Three days later, we ordered our pellet stove and it was delivered on the delivery date. Very pleased with the crew and the showroom. Would recommend if you are looking for a new stove.

Brendan Devine came out to inspect my chimney and two old wood burning stoves that came with the house I bought this summer. I resisted burning wood until the inspection.
Brendan was very knowledgeable, explained everything and answered all my questions. During the camera inspection there where visible defects in the clay liner which would need to be repaired if I decided to convert it back to a fireplace. I had a new roof, 6 skylights, and a new section of soffit installed by First Response Chimney Sweeps. Quotes were fair and communication was great throughout the process. Work was completed in a timely manner and the crew took every step to ensure all nails, old roofing material, and packaging was cleaned up and hauled away.

I received a pellet stove as a gift from a family member. I previously used Willie’s company to do chimney work at a rental property, which turned out beautifully. We decided to have his guys do our pellet stove install. The installers were friendly, efficient, tidy, and knowledgeable about their task. They had to do quite a bit of back and forth from outside to inside, but at no point could you tell we had foot traffic in our house. SO CLEAN! They did a super clean install and returned a few days later on site when we had questions about the functionality of the stove. I highly recommend this company for maintenance, installation, new build work, and refurb work. Great team, great communication and service.

first response was knowledgeable and professional. they fixed our chimney and replaced our fireplace. they made sure that everything was done right. communication was good. they worked with our insurance company to get our damaged chimney fixed. i would definitely recommend them.

Technicians from first response were very patient and professional with all our questions. UPDATE: a couple weeks after installation we had issues with the pilot. We called and received prompt service the same day and Lee came out and did some trouble shooting and was able to resolve our issue quickly and efficiently. I highly recommend First Response not only for installation but service needs as well.

A chimney fire required the installation of a liner which was no easy task as our chimney is nearly 40ft high. Shingles stained as a result of the fire were also replaced as were several rows of bricks that were damaged at the chimney’s top.

We also purchased a new wood stove which they installed, all to our complete satisfaction.

They even cut $500 from the total cost of the project when the roofers found that the roof sheathing did not need replaced!

I highly recommended First Chimney and thank them for a job well done.

Been a loyal First Response Chimney Sweeps customer for a couple years. Used them at my previous home for yearly sweep and purchased chase cover. Recently moved to a new home and called upon them again to inspect my wood stoves.
