A big shoutout to FLax construction for the awesome job they did when my basement flooded. I'm a senior citizen and didn't know where to begin the cleanup process. Day one Kelly Floetke came and took pictures that were needed for the insurance claim.
The following day after the plumbing company opened the drain, Kelly, Joey Brooks and a 4 person crew were here to start the clean up process. The 4 workers, James, Isaiah, Trevor, and Miriam were here for 8 hours. During that time they were very respectful and polite and continued to update me on the progress. What could have been a very very stressful situation was a little easier because of these four.
Fans and dehumidifiers were in and that brought end to the first day. James made arrangements before leaving regarding coming back the next 2 days for a recheck on the drying process. I even got a special James rendition of Happy Birthday to me. lol
Long story short, I would recommend this company 100%

Mark and his team did a superb job replacing our flooring and bathroom vanity following water damage in our laundry/bathroom as well as our kitchen and office. Their attention to detail and making sure we were happy with the repairs was very much appreciated!

Joey came out to assess the damage the next day and assigned a project manager right away to get the process of fixing damage started. The project manager Brandon was great. He kept me updated throughout the process and made sure all repairs done as expected. Their carpenter James was fanominal he came up with a simple but functional shelving replacement design that worked perfect for my space and needs. Nick and Ryan came the next day and built the shelving unit in just a few hours. I highly recommend f.lax for any and all restoration needs. Brandon Mazzacco and his crew did an amazing job renovating our bathroom and building us a banister for our stairs! The carpenter James is an expert and pays great attention to detail. T the painter is so good at drywall and paint. We are so happy they did our job.

If I could give them more than 5 stars, I would. F Lax initially was hired by my insurance company when a storm put a tree branch in my roof. Rick was great being my initial contact, helping me navigate the process dealing with insurance, and taking very comprehensive photos to get the best coverage possible. James was great doing the emergency water remediation to ensure the damage was addressed immediately so it wouldn't get worse. Brandon was great helping me with the process of getting the repairs done and facilitating everything to make sure it was all done correctly and to my liking, as well as Ryan was great doing the work in my home and giving me advice on repairs. They were wonderful to work with improving my home, and making an unpleasant event like unexpected storm damage to my home, so much easier to deal with. Highly recommended.

The two men James and Nick were courteous, friendly and did a fantastic job. They listened to my concerns and followed up about these concerns. It’s hard to find workers that do their jobs and friendly on top of it. Their project manager Brandon was also on top of things. Whenever I called and left a message he called me back within a short length of time. If he couldn’t call for a few hours, he would text me and let me know when he would be able to call. Nowadays, people just leave you hanging. Brandon was also very courteous, friendly and prompt. I have nothing but good things to say about James, Nick and Brandon. I hope these gentlemen will be made aware that I appreciated their work. The job these gentlemen were working at was the remodeling of my bathroom. It was completely gutted and they worked from there. The tile work was done by James and he did a fantastic job. On completion I had a walk in shower and the entire bathroom looked great. I couldn’t be more happier.

I had a significant amount of water damage at my condo. Allen jawad came out to assess the damage and quote the job. The repairs are now almost complete. Back in June of this year we had an electrical fire due to a power surge. The first contractor was incompetent to deal with the insurance claim. After a month and a half without any communication from (bc) we had to fire them. Hired F lax to complete the claim. Mr Jawad personally came out and got the ball rolling immediately. Him and his team did a great job! Allen treated US like family. With his knowledge and expertise in the field is the go to company. Thanks again team F lax.

I had a kitchen fire in my new home. The smoke traveled through the whole house, and we had to move out for months for restoration. It was a disruptive, unfamiliar and upsetting day to day process, for months to get my home cleaned, restored and beautiful again. Luckily for me my insurance company appointed a team to restore my house, called F. Lax Construction lead by Allen Jawad. They came in so professionally, with great expertise and really exceeded my expectations with a beautiful end product. They facilitated permits, inspections, sub-contractors, and provided highly skilled and talented in house trades. They also worked side by side with the cabinet shop of my choice to build me an upscale gourmet kitchen. Allen Jawad's other company X-cel Restoration, worked simultaneously with F. Lax Construction to clean restore, replace, and dispose of my personal property. They also handled the total loss inventory and listed thousands of items in an organized manner so that I could price things to get myself reimbursed. They brought my personal items back to my home upon completion of repairs in an organized and systematic manner. This was an overwhelming experience, made bearable by Allen and his staff's expertise and professionalism. They provided me with a beautiful end product. I would highly recommend F. Lax construction for anything you need in your home.

I recently had a kitchen fire with smoke and ash that damaged my whole house. I let my insurance company know I wanted to have to deal with as few people as possible. I have used F.LAX over several years now. They restored our house after a tree caused extensive damage. Recently I had a new problem (not related to the tree). The interior painters were extraordinary.
The recent problem was a section of wall over a window had developed wood rot caused by water draining off the roof next to a wall.
F.LAX and I reviewed the problem together. Following this meeting I received a detailed estimate. F.LAX personal removed the rotting area, replaced the trim, added waterproofing, and added a water diverter to prevent the problem from returning.
I would call F.LAX with any home restoration problem I may have in the future.

I had an overall very positive experience working with F Lax, who did repairs and some additional work on my house after a tree fell on my property. James was always very responsive and helpful, and made sure I got exactly what I wanted. The crews were great - super considerate and kind. They ensured as little disruption as possible as they were working, and cleaned up the worksite to be spotless every evening when they were done for the day. The work was done in a timely manner, and I was always kept up-to-date with what was going on. I'd definitely recommend!

Hired for an insurance covered siding replacement on my house after some storm damage. They sent 2 subcontractors. 1 did siding all of the time, the other exclusively did bathroom remodels. The siding guy was working under the bathroom guys license. half way thru the job the siding guy quit. I was told my options were to let the non siding guy finish, or wait until after the winter to get a different crew. As soon as he started working alone nothing but problems. I have attached several pictures of the terrible quality. The owner then came and offered us 10% back to just be done with it and not fix anything. They had gotten the insurance company to send us a check for "work done" with insane charges that were added/changed from our contract. We felt we had no other options and were only threatened by the company when we called to ask questions. Terrible company. Dont use.

My first of two experiences with F Lax Construction occurred after a flood in my laundry room caused enough damage to require restoration. Being recently widowed, I was utterly overwhelmed. Allen Jawad, the owner of
F. Lax, came to assess the damage and took the stress away. Every detail of the restoration was coordinated and executed smoothly and in a timely way, with minor inconvenience to me. His patience and calm demeanor made a difference. He was accommodating throughout the process.

When another water problem occurred and damaged the finish of my wood floor, I didn't hesitate to request F Lax to complete the necessary repairs. The job necessitated packing up and storing all the furnishings on the first floor to sand and refinish 2200 sq. ft. of the wood floor and a staircase, then paint the wood trim. When finished, my furnishings were returned and placed in their original spots. It was a big job, but every interaction I had with the crews assigned to the project was positive and made any times of stress more manageable. Allen's project manager, Mark, was terrific. His integrity and genuine desire to provide the customer with a job well-done were evident in all his actions. He was there every step to listen and resolve any ‘bumps' along the way. His professional knowledge, attention to detail, follow-through and supervision of the job, and respect for the customer and their home make him an asset to the company.

I've been using F Lax services for 2 years now for various projects at my apartment building. A few years ago I had a fire that destroyed two of my units. The final repairs and renovation resulted in basic units looking like near luxury apartments. The quality of work, expertise, professionalism, attention to detail, the willingness to collaborate and adjust and flex according to my needs was immeasurable. Notwithstanding one of the worst trade and material shortage of our time, Allen and his team came through and finished our basement renovation, roof replacement and exterior repairs within budget. Very efficient and great work. Several plumbers came and went with no results. F lax construction came in and got hands dirty until they found and fixed problems. Joe was especially helpful in getting work done fast. I highly recommend.

They use subcontractors and sent a bafoon to my house do to a replacement roof on my house. The bafoon they call the supervisor let the huge roofing truck on my side lot and got stuck because the ground was so soft it was moving under the bafoon but he thought it was all good. That's the short version. Get someone else if you can.

They've done multiple jobs for me and my extended family over the years. Basement leaks and flood remediation, mold containment and remediation, remodeling including various flooring (LVP, ceramic tile, waxed VCT, pergo), plumbing, carpentry, cabinetry, drywall, painting, exterior door installation and more. Dependable, honest, trustworthy, thorough, detail-oriented company. Their crews come on time, are hard- working, and do excellent work with top-notch craftsmanship. They worked closely with our insurance companies for everyone's benefit. In particular, for my most recent job, I commend Rob S. (Estimator/biller) Steve M. (Project Manager), Don (carpenter/general) and Ryan (painter) for jobs well done. There were occasional minor mis-communication snags, but they were resolved quickly and professionally. Additionally, every recommendation Rob or Steve gave me for outside companies for unrelated jobs turned out to be top-notch (Great Dane HVAC, Fortress Roofing, Amistee Air Duct Cleaning, Signature Services driveway concrete.) F. Lax probably won't be your cheapest quote, but they're competitive and reasonable and worth it. I hope I don't need more work done anytime soon, but if I do, they've got my business! Kudos!

We had what I considered a disaster when the upstairs pipes broke in the shower wall. Water poured in through the kitchen ceiling on the main floor. I contacted this company immediately, and they started same day! They did an excellent ,timely and very clean job! Loved them and would highly recommend!

Had an issue with the kitchen ceiling retaining water that needed to be fixed and restored. F Lax Construction was very professional, fast and did the job right. No issues and they did everything.

In February 2019 I had a devastating house fire, likely requiring a complete remodel from the studs up. F. Lax was recommended to me by my insurance adjustor and I decided to give Allen a call about being the contractor for my rebuild. I knew Allen and his F. Lax team were the people I wanted to replace my first home back to the pre-fire condition. They were in constant contact with me in regards to the estimation process, dealing with insurance, and a timeline of events. Even the demolition employees were super friendly. Anyhow, the quality of work and service provided was phenomenal, especially during such a tough time in my life. Thanks Allen & Company at F. Lax!

The whole team has been working on the house since the beginning. Had a few set backs due to DTE energy not liking the location of the house. F.lax went ahead a moved the whole house over 10ft to get approval from DTE to finish the house. Now its towards the end of the build and everything is above and beyond what i wanted. Cant wait to be moved in.

F lax responded quick to a leaking pipe at my parents’ house. Rob walked us through the process start to finish. He was very patient with explaining things as there was a bit of a language barrier. Very glad our insurance company recommended them, our home was back to normal in no time!

Before our house caught fire I had never heard of FLax construction before I came across them because they worked with my insurance before and I was recommended them. It was the best decision of our lives to work with Flax construction as our contractors. Andrew and Steve worked well together, were always professional, and always made sure I understood what was going on. They even took the time to sit down with me and explain any questions I had regarding my claim, even when that wasn’t their job they exceeded in every aspect. The shape our house was in after our fire was heartbreaking and being an older house there were more than just the fire issues that needed to be dealt with. Not only was every issue dealt with almost immediately but it was done correctly too. And if there were issues I had I never felt like I was in the way or interrupting. Even after the claim was closed and all the work was done if there were any questions I was still treated as an ongoing customer. It was a long journey but the outcome of their work is absolutely remarkable. My family couldn't more happy to have our home back and to have worked with them. My experience with F. Lax Consruction has been great. F. Lax Construction employees, Kyle, Mark, Brian and Daryll are courteous, respectful and highly proficient in the execution of their reconstruction duties. With each time scheduled time for repairs, they were on time, cleaned as they went and always leaving the area neat and clean. Our project manager Eric was extremely accessible, helpful and was responsive with each inquiry. Rob our estimator was very informative, knowledgeable and professional. In the future, we would definitely use this company and would recommend to others due to the quality workmanship, professionalism and timeliness.

Came to my house for a recent pipe break. The estimator was very knowledgeable and helped me a ton. The team that was assigned to fix my home was amazing. They cleaned up everyday and treated my house with respect.

I experienced a major sewer backup in my finished basement during an unseasonably heavy rainfall in 2014. Two feet of blackwater entered via the pipes. Most of my city ended up under foul water. My local insurance agent with a national company recommended X-Cel Restoration/F. Lax Restoration. I used them again in 2017 during another heavy rain incident that caused sewer backups in my city.

Getting in touch with X-Cel/F. Lax was not difficult. They immediately dispatched a team with dehumidifiers and fans to begin the mitigation process. After that point, however, the homeowner must take an active approach to contacting team members, their estimator, mitigation manager, and remediation manager.

The mitigation team kept in touch on the first day or two. They promised to return and complete work they didn't have tools for, and check progress of drying on the second day. Confirming they would return, I stayed home from work and they never showed up until evening -- after I called the mitigation manager and main line. Even then it wasn't more than a courtesy check. A gentleman on the team came alone, unable to do the necessary work because he needed a larger team. The equipment was left over a weekend again due to lack of someone calling to pick it up, and one of the pieces started to burn and smolder. Calls to the main line weren't picked up and the best I could do was shut it off.

Work crews are capable and prompt. They completed drywalling and painting, mud work, and flooring well the first time. However, there was a serious delay between the mitigation completion and the restoration work. Our mitigation manager did not help close the loop with F. Lax in 2014 or 2017; we had to do that ourselves. Assignments rely on you being proactive. The flooding damage in August was not completed until October, holding up our carpet installation. We had to complain to the team manager for shoddy paintwork that showed obvious brushstrokes and transition phases from the undamaged drywall to the newly installed stuff.

Fortunately the team manager was great in getting the work fixed: he came out personally to complete the painting. The flooring and paint jobs were very good otherwise, and held up well. The problem is the glacial rates of time and the absolute necessity a homeowner advocate for themselves. If you're prepared to push back and demand times, text teams to find out where they are, and try to keep a flexible schedule, this is not a bad company to work with.

Insurance payments were easy enough.

My insurance carrier sent this company in response to wind/tree damage to my home. The responded quickly, and were happy to have the job. They removed the tree and sealed the damaged areas on day one. After that, nothing happens. Deadlines come and go, they only communicate when you initiate the communication, and you cannot get them to show up and do the work. It took them 12 weeks to roof my house. I'm now 16 weeks out and cannot get them to show up and do the remaining work. The siding & chimney repair still have not been done. They measured and ordered the wrong size replacement window, so I'm still waiting for them to install the correct size window. Simply a disaster to deal with.

I had the pleasure of dealing with this company before closing on a house in early December 2014. Right before closing the pipes burst and flooded the whole house causing extensive damage.

The seller made the mistake of hiring this company to do the restoration. They didn't even start demo work till after the new year, nearly a month after they were selected to do the job.

Since I had to communicate with them through the seller it's hard to tell exactly what was going on, but I fully believe the contractor was actively lying to the seller and those lies were forwarded on to me.

The original estimate was 30 days of work, we didn't close till mid-April. When we finally did close, we discovered that the work was not even finished. They hadn't finished repairing the water heater, and they failed inspection due to switching hot/cold on the faucet. Neither were serious issues, but they also were not disclosed to me at closing which was infuriating.and fraudulent. They took several days after closing to correct the issues as well.

Once we were in most of the work done wasn't too bad of quality, but one of the counter tops in the kitchen was damaged by the contractor or one of his subs and then left.

After the nightmare I had to deal with with this contractor I would seriously suggest shopping somewhere else.

This company did $3000 worth of plumbing work on a house I was buying and within first time fully using the bath tub it leaked and ruined ceiling that they also were paid to fixed. Scott claim they don't warrenty the work if you aren't the one who paid them regardless if you have all paperwork. Stay away!!! Scam you out of your money and do poor...poor work and refuse to make it right.

They did an insurance repair for me 4 years ago (roof cave from snow) and they were very helpful then. They know how to work with the insurance companies to get the best settlement. We were very happy with that work but also....when we had a leak 4 years later they replaced the whole roof at their cost - which I was very happy about. They stand by their work, have great subcontractors, and do a great job. What else can you ask for......5 stars!!
