Exceptional One Services

I've got to know Exceptional One by accident. Was caught in a difficult situation when the repair was more than I could chew. I feel blessed that Dan took the job, worked with me on each detail, on pricing, on schedule and everything else.

Exceptional One is THE place to go for me - they helped me our many time. Believe I am getting fair price, exceptional quality, and honest opinions. Very satisfied with everything done by code - never ever have had a problem with inspections.

If I have an idea or knowledge for the project - I know I will be heard, work will be adjusted, and I will be satisfied regardless how big is the job.

Exceptional One did a great job for us. Two actually! We had kitchen work done in early 2024 (Corian countertops, marble backsplash, ceiling cleaned/painted, light fixtures) and it looks great. We then had them back for additional work in the kitchen in November to update cabinet end panels, island side panels, toe kick and trim to match existing cabinet doors. The quality of the work is top notch. I wish I could remember the names of all the workers to thank them individually. Dan - send our thanks to your team!

EOS made substantial improvements to two of my bathrooms this year. Everyone I dealt with was very capable and nice to work with. They were careful and thorough and they made sure the jobs were done to my satisfaction. And they didn’t let my cat out of the house!

We were in a hurry to get a drain fixed in one of our bathrooms. Dan and his crew came in, saw what needed to be done, and did the work expertly.

Dan and Team (Jim, Trey, & Victor) worked with me to replace an exterior basement door, rework the bulkhead, waterproof, and install woodwork (trim). This was not an easy project! It took his team about 2 days to complete. They were very professional, pleasant, and extremely thorough with the work. The finished project looks great and there are no longer water leaks.

I plan to use this team for all my projects in the future and recommended them highly.

We would highly recommend Exceptional One for all your home renovations. We actually contacted them a year ago to get our first quote for a master bath redo. This gave us an idea of the overall cost. After looking at several other options and saving, we kept coming back to Exceptional One. Dan made an impression with his smile, honesty and easy going demeanor. There was no pressure, just honest conversation. When we finally made a decision, I contacted them again and picked up where we left off. Just be prepared for the price to increase when you wait a year...darn inflation!
We were doing a full master bath redo, hall bath update and some mold remediation and facelift for the basement bath. All three bathrooms had some degree of water/mold damage and each was assessed and a solution was presented before moving forward with each project. Along the way we also had them put new can lights in our daughter's bedroom and a new light sensor switch in our laundry room. Oh, and since we had some money left at the end, we also had them purchase and install a new storm door.
We love our master bath redo. No more tiny shower and a bath we don't use. We now have more than enough storage in the bathroom instead of having to use our closet for towels. Another great feature are the built-in pullout laundry baskets and the medicine cabinets with staggered shelves. Highly recommend!
We look forward to having Exceptional One complete several more projects that we're saving for in the future! We can't recommend them enough for all your home projects!
Side note: Their team went above and beyond while installing a small bar for shaving in our shower. It was a great learning experience for all of us!!!!

Exceptional One Services took our front porch and steps from a disaster to point of pride and safety. The porch had crackered from front to the doors. There was no railing so it was getting dangerous for us to use the front door. After renovation, we use the front door all the time. Neighbors have stopped to compliment us on the transformation.
The work was done in a timely manner. The crew cleaned up after themselves every day. They offered suggestions, painting the column to match the new railing was one.
The porch and stairs are far beyond our expectations!

Exceptional One Services had been working on my neighbor's home. Each workday the property was kept clean. They made sure the property was secured. They worked as a team which was refreshing to see.

I saw the owner Dan and asked if they did smaller jobs and he said they did. Later that week I called the office to schedule a time for Dan to come out to work on an estimate. Everyone I spoke with in the office was and is professional, nice, and knowledgeable.

When Dan arrived to do the project estimate I had issues sticking to my top projects. To Dan's credit, he was very patient with me while I changed topics multiple times. I finally settled on work in the basement. Dare I say 1970's paneling!

Monday they arrived on time and ready to begin. Dan did a walkthrough with me and the team. And they got right to work. Throughout the day the team was continually busy and communicated well with each other. As debris accumulated it was removed so as not to be a hazard in the work area.

I knew there were small areas where water had gotten in. What I didn't expect was the discovery of huge amounts of mold. Dan, the team, and I gathered to adjust the work for the mold. This involved removing the tack, furring strips and drywall from the finished area of the basement. Everyone proceeded with
caution and never missed a single thing. They always finished the work day leaving a clean worksite, with everything completed and on schedule.

If you have projects but haven't hired a company to complete them know that Exceptional One Services is the perfect model of how companies should work.

UPDATE: After the mold removal we waited to see if other areas of the basement was leaking. Once those areas were identified I had Exceptional 1 return to waterproof the entire basement. I also had them replace my front entry door that thought it was Swiss cheese. My new front door "slaps" air away from the house so no more cold air is getting in. The new door closes with a perfect seal. Dare I say the seal of confidence and great workmanship. That's what Exceptional 1 has provided each step of the way for each of the projects at my home.

I’ve worked with Exceptional One for more than 10 years and they are my go-to team for anything and everything related to projects for my home. Our neighbor introduced us to Dan after we needed emergency support, and from the first day, the Exceptional One team was outstanding in their timeliness and quality of work. Dan is incredibly knowledgeable, easy, and fun to work with, and they helped us every step of the way. Great care and attention to detail in this job, all walls were covered. Lofted ceilings and taped seams are repaired and painted like new again. Capped crawl space cracks sealed at perimeter and poured wall cracks. Extremely satisfied. No concerns with radon. Great crew. On time. Cost appropriate. Exceptional One installed the hood vent in my kitchen. They were responsive and came on time. The work was done professionally and without any issues. Had work done that involved ceiling and drywall reno. The work came out great. Also everyone involved from the office(Abbie, Heidl) to the work crew(Victor) were considerate and accommodating. They are good people I trust to do work in my home.

Dan and his crew are absolutely amazing! I had a roof leak that ruined my office. I had a very hard time with the company that was supposed to do the remodel and ended up calling Dan. Not only did he come right out, but he got the quote done extremely fast and had my house back to normal quickly. Him and his office kept in constant contact and went above and beyond when it came to dealing with my insurance company. I would recommend him and his company to anyone needing a remodel or repair!

Dan and his team were contacted about a project that needed to be addressed prior to us selling our home. The bathroom exhaust fans needed to be vented through the roof. Lonnie and Jim were here in quick order to handle the situation with efficiency and professionalism. They were on time, extremely knowledgeable about the necessary repair and cleaned up on completion. It was a delight to have them work in our home and we highly recommend Exceptional One Services. We had our roof replaced on our home and had four skylights removed and permanently sealed. We had Exceptional One do the inside work on framing, insulating, and installing drywall, and painting the ceiling area for each skylight in our Kitchen-eating area and Great Room. The finished work is FANTASTIC! There is no sign that skylights were ever in the ceiling! The workmanship on this job is EXCELLENT! The preparation work and clean-up for this for job was OUTSTANDING! Exceptional One was by far the most clear and consistent with their communication. They took pictures to detail and document all their work. Exceptional 1 Services is the company we call for all our house repairs, remodels, and updates. Their name truly reflects their business. They are “exceptional” at what they do and are the only “1” you need to engage. They take care of everything. Dan Messer is not only knowledgeable and experienced; he’s delightful to work with. His personality and smile are priceless. His office staff and construction crew is “top notch”. Dan comes to your home, listens to what you want, provides options, makes recommendations, answers your questions and gives you time to make decisions. He steps you through the entire process, coordinates the work, and continually keeps a dialogue with you throughout the work. Ten years ago they replaced our deck, remodeled our living room, kitchen, dining room, and hallway bath. Since then, they've painted our shutters, fixed sagging siding, replaced electrical components, installed a ceiling fan and hung a big screen TV. This year they’ve replaced our roof and gutters, refreshed the paint from the last remodel including two bedrooms. 2 years ago, Exceptional One Services transformed my 1960s ranch into a modern house with an open concept kitchen/living room and two remodeled baths. They made my house accessible for a person with physical disabilities with creative solutions that integrated form and function. From the start, communication was clear, timely, and professional. The contract was detailed and they kept on schedule. As with any older home, there were a few minor “surprises” but did not interfere with the project. All crew members took great care in their work and treated the renovation with excellent detail, cleanliness, and pride-- just like they would their own home.

Recently, I hired them to paint the house exterior and build a backyard patio. Both are beautiful!

Exceptional One competed many interior renovation projects in our home just before we purchased it: bathrooms, kitchen, landscape, hard scape, roof, etc. The quality and design is top notch. A few weeks after moving in there were severe thunderstorms and we noticed the next day we had we drywall in the garage ceiling and wall. Within a couple days he had the roofing contractor out who found it was a collection of debris at a pinch point in the roof design between gables causing pooling and seepage. He cleaned it all out and let me know 1-2 per year I’ll need to just make sure it’s cleaned out to be sure it doesn’t happen again. 2 days after that we had Victor out where he cut out any area that got damp, explained the process, showed me everything along the way, made sure to replace the drywall, mud and paint. It looks brand new and I couldn’t be happier. Dan even is following up with me on a couple of boulders for the hard scape that he committed to delivering to the previous home owner and will do so for me. They stand by their work and their word. I’ll be sure to use them for the last remaining bathrooms we need remodeled.

ExceptionalOne lives up to its name. Great work done by honest, reliable people is truly exceptional, especially these days. Dan and his team have just completed the last of multiple complex repair and renovation projects (roof replacement including 22 skylights, entire brick wall with window replacements, garage floor cement repair, stucco repair with complete exterior repainting), all well planned and well executed, with good communication and follow-up. The James Webb telescope pointed in this direction would undoubtedly find many more than just 5 stars!

Our lower level of our home flooded in February 2022. We hired Exceptional One to help us get our lives back. To give you a little background I’m pregnant due in august and all of our kids bedrooms are on the lower level. Let me tell you how this company will go above and beyond to help you. Dan has been absolutely outstanding with everything he did. The men he has are prompt, professional, and hard workers. They got the job done quickly and beautifully. Dan even went the extra mile to help with issues with the mitigation company and the insurance company. This man is your advocate when you need him. My husband and I could not be any more grateful for all they have done for us! We will be using Exceptional One for all construction in the future without a question!

We had Exceptional One do a big renovation at our house 3 years ago. Recently we needed some touch ups due to normal wear, so just a small job. I was super impressed with the whole process. They made me feel like my small job was their number one priority. That is super rare these days! First Dan and Scott came and checked out the work needed. They had some great suggestions on preventive maintenance we could do in the future. Then Victor and his son came and did the repairs. They are so professional and super friendly and the results were fantastic. It looks as perfect as the day it was originally done. You cannot tell that any patch work was done at all. And in typical Exceptional One style, they went beyond the list that I prepared and corrected things that I missed. I am sitting here looking at it now and could not be happier. These guys are so great. If I could give 6 stars I would.

A good portion of our home needed to be rebuilt after a natural disaster -- Dan and his team were amazing to work with. Very responsive, and detail-oriented. Exceptional One review July 2019

Our home is in Dublin near the Scioto river and has wood siding and wood-framed windows. It is now a little over 30 years old. Many of the windows no longer functioned and the seals had failed. We began our search for a company who would/could do repairs and replacements in the Summer of 2018. Several reputable window companies came out to look and were unable to help us. The windows are high off the ground on a sloping lot and the original window manufacturer was out of business. While we had a good number of windows that needed to be replaced we were also keeping many so a cohesive uniform look was important. We were given Dan Messer’s name by a specialist contractor and invited him out to look at our window situation. Dan made a very thorough inspection of our windows and spent time talking with us and explaining procedures.
We were a bit startled to receive a bid to prepare a bid but we realized preparing the bid would be a great deal of detailed work which would be done by the actual carpenters, and also removing and boarding up the windows to replace is work, so we agreed. Not only did we need to replace about ten windows but ten others needed repair. It took months to find a window company that could make the exact window profile we needed but they were found. We received a detailed estimate for the work and Dan reviewed it all with us. Scaffolding would be involved and we made the decision to have Dan/Exceptional One bid on siding repair and replacement then staining to be done at the same time. This would turn out to be a large and expensive project but we truly felt Dan had the experience and skills to do all the work well. We met more of his team and our confidence increased. Adam, the overall project manager was in frequent contact, kept us informed and asked checked in about how things were going. Abbie in the office did a great job with the contracts and updating us on info and changes to the schedule. Jim the Carpenter is skilled and a fine problem solver-he was able to use the wood and glass from a window being replaced to fix another to save us money. Ever, the construction manager, was also very good at his job. We had different crews at the house for different aspects of the projects but everyone stayed busy and the work progressed well. The workers were considerate and respectful and we also felt they were trustworthy. Very important as they were in and out of our home on a daily basis for several weeks. There were a couple of times where they discovered there was more work than they expected – our chimney and siding around sliding balcony doors, but they photographed the disrepair and again prepared additional estimates and sought our approval before moving ahead with additional work. We are very satisfied with the quality of the work and how it was done. We have asked Exceptional One to bid on a new project – expanding and screening in our balcony.

These folks are great. They don't B.S. you about cost or timetables, and work tirelessly to complete projects quickly, with impeccable attention to detail. I find a lot of contractors to be shady, but this company will put you at ease. If you are looking for a reputable contractor for your home or business I suggest you call them up.
