Everyone at Energy Select has been great to work with. The quality of the materials seem to be very high, as well as the service people in the field. The panels are working great, already have no electric bill. Hard to beat that. Thanks to everyone that worked on my project. Would definitely recommend.

Faulty install and didn't honor warranty for repair. Energy Select installed street/parking lights in my community and they begin to fail shortly after install. They had installed an aftermarket part on the lights that caused water intrusion and shorted the lights. After months of no-shows to "inspect the issue" we had our electrician do replacements at our own expense. They also wanted to charge us labor to do repairs on work they did wrong in the first place.

After deciding to install a solar system on my house, I was very pleased to come across Energy Select. Right out of the gate I had a great experience, as my sales advisor Karen provided a much more detailed explanation of the system her company was offering compared to the other companies I had sought out quotes from. After deciding to go with Energy Select, Karen and Destiny did a great job at keeping me in the loop on the progress of the project. Lastly, I’d like to also praise the crew who installed my panels, as they moved swiftly and left the property as clean as it was at their arrival. While it is currently winter, which is not an ideal time for solar power generation, I have been extremely pleased with the output of my system, which has resulted in a very significant reduction of my power bill. Overall, I would highly recommend Energy Select to anyone interested in going Solar.

I just went PTO on my solar and I can say this is the most seamless experience I have had with vendors. Karen was so nice and patiently walked me through the entire process. I would say without mixing words Karen is a star and the best customer relations staff I have ever worked with. The company is very reliable, the kept to their words on all the phases until the final installation. The kept me informed throughout the process. The installation team was excellent and up to speed. Generally I will recommend energy select for all your solar needs.

Energy Select was recommended by several friends. My husband and I have had excellent experiences with Energy Select. All of the staff we have dealt with have rendered exceptional service. I'd like to note particularly Karen Gable, who has led us through the whole process professionally and personably; Carlos, our lead installer, answered all of our questions about installation; Rahon, who assisted Carlos was also helpful. Carlos showed excellent technical and managerial skills in working with and training Rahon. Destiny was always helpful over the phone. Every person from Energy Select has been terrific. The young man who turned our system on on Friday December 13 was especially helpful and took time to load the Enphase app on my phone. I'm sorry I don't remember his name.

I had a wonderful experience with this company. They kept me regularly informed about the process and answered all of my questions quickly and completely. All of the crews were professional, respectful of my property and friendly. The electrician stated that his standard was that he treats the customer's property and system as if it's his own. I was really pleased with the quality and aesthetics of everyone's work. The company did all of the interfacing with the county and state for the permits. I would recommend Energy Select to everyone.

We contacted Energy Select because we had heard good things about them from a friend who had a system installed. The installation process went very smoothly, and the system is so far working flawlessly, with no need for us to do anything except follow our energy production progress on the app.

Though it's very early days, we're quite happy with the system so far.

We recently had solar with battery backup installed for our home with Energy Select. It is fantastic to have this company as a local resource to help design, install and maintain the system. The teams are knowledgeable, friendly and willing to go the extra mile - we really appreciate having this company developing the talent to install and maintain these systems locally versus going with larger national chains, that seem to be hit or miss for the long term. They were very competitive on pricing and were able to get us up an running in only 5 or so months!

Energy Select did a GREAT JOB! during my solar project. Karen, Zach and the entire crew were amazing during the process. I had two projects in one which required a very detailed project design and ran from my house to the backyard pergola rooftop. This system required battery backup as well and over 70 panels. The engineering had to be on point for snow loads and high winds and the installation teams ran into some challenges but they worked through them and accomplished their goals . My solar project took over 10 months from the start of the project in October 2023 to PTO August 2024, this was due to all the permits and other county regulations as well as PEPCO. I would definitely recommend Energy Select for your solar needs! Thanks Again!!

A terrible experience.
We had this installed 2-3years ago. We had to call relentlessly for them to follow up and finish the work. One of the inverters was installed incorrectly. They chose to give the referral fee to one of their own employees We were told we were getting a rebate from the state which we did, but then a year later there’s a payment required. I was not told about that required the full rebate of approximately $12,000 to be repaid. our sales person was inexperienced.
Not a cost saving option. We created electricity that covered the bill, but did not cover the payments on the loan. Be warned, with the small print.
I left for this long to comment as I did not want to jeopardize any issues or service that may require from them. We’ve since sold the property.

My experience with Energy Select was excellent from start to finish.

Karen (sales) was engaging and answered all my question and concerns and provided multiple quotes for different configurations/options at my request.

The installation crew (Carlos and 2 others) were professional and polite and did quality work. They corrected a minor workmanship issue I had noticed quickly, properly, and without complaint. The electrician did a great job on the installation as well. He was precise with the new panel installation inside my finished basement, that I didn't have to do any drywall work or painting after he was done!

Makayla (customer interface during the process) answered all of my emails in a timely manner. I also received responses from the engineers/project managers in a timely manner. (Usually within the day).

The installed system is a grid tied system with Enphase IQ8+ microinverters for each panel, and an Enphase IQ5 Combinder box with integrated Enphase IQ Gateway.

The company has a documented process with a project tracking web portal and short process explanation videos as the project progresses.

The company handles as much as the permit and permission to operate paperwork as they can. The company will also set you up with an SREC broker, if you don't want to find your own broker, or sell your SRECs on the market yourself.

I think the only things they missed covering with me before contract signing was that they weren't installing consumption metering (production metering is installed), and that "solar backup" (micro grid forming without batteries when the main grid goes down) was a possible option.

I liked how they explained the pricing up front, especially how much I would get back in taxes. Everyone I met was really helpful and nice. They coordinated with me every step of the way. When SMECO came to inspect the guy even paid a compliment on the quality of the work.

She was nice and knows her job. I love her interaction in the feild og renewable energy. I can recommend her to over 1000 people if i have the opportunity.

First and foremost we had the very good fortune to have been referred to this outstanding local company by someone who had purchased one of their solar systems. Working with an established local company that sells and installs solar systems is the is the golden rule when shopping for your system. From our first encounter with EnergySelect's sales representative, Karen Gables, thru to the final inspection with the county inspector for electrical with Nick and all the employees and members of the installation team of ENERGY SELECT we never had a bad or disappointing experience. Every person working on designing and installing our system was first rate. They did what they said what they were going to do and when they planned to do it. We never had to spend hours on the phone trying to get them to fulfill their commitments to us. The ENPHASE system is first class and performs up to our expectations. I give this company 10 stars across the board. A very first class operation and product.

This is both a people and tech friendly company. They make sure the people are well informed and cared for and they have tech savvy superior to none. We looked at three solar companies. We are glad we picked Energy Select. It has been an awesome experience!

I was lucky to find this team. I have an owned rooftop solar system in Annapolis (acquired with the house), and found it difficult to find a company willing and able to service a system that wasn't actually built by them or under a lease agreement. Energy Select will do this. Although based an hour away, Energy Select includes Annapolis in its service territory, and they had a pre-existing relationship with the builder of my system, so access to the monitoring system was no problem. Energy Select resolved not only the big recent problem with my system (dead inverter) but a number of long-standing panel issues. In particular, we found their service to be outstanding. Our tech was Nick Cameron, and we highly recommend him -- great on communication and unflaggingly polite.

Gregg walked me through the process, step by step. I had a ton of questions and he took the time to answer them all in detail, that I could understand. He also looked over some of the other quotes that I received to let me know how they compared to his products. Needless to say, Gregg has won my business and continues to support my home project to the fullest.

After being told that I could not get solar on my home and getting it installed has been a lengthy process. Karen Gable and her team did and outstanding job aiding us through the solar installation process. Karen was always avaliable and very attentive to our needs. I can’t tell you how much getting even a hint of the timetable means to a customer.

I signed a contract for a solar energy system for the house in July 2023. It was important to me that I be kept informed of each aspect of the installation. I was not disappointed. The staff from Energy Select kept me informed, even sending documents explaining each of the components that would go into the installation. Karen Gable acted as my interface with Energy Select. Zach, our site manager, studied my home situation, planning the installation. He even supplied drone pictures of the roof, showing me how the installation layout would look. Christian managed the installation. The crew completed the installation as scheduled in spite of my incessant questions. Mike and his assistant completed the wiring. Zach inspected the installation and found a couple of changes that needed to be made before County and SMECO inspection could occur. The changes were handled in quick order. Will handled the inspection process which went without a hitch. Tamika kept me updated with her “Monday morning updates” as to where we were in teach step of the process.
The system has been on for about 2 months as a Net Metering configuration. My weekly “Time of Use” reports from SMECO show, even on the shortest day of the year, the system actually delivered power to the grid. On partly to mildly cloudy days the system meets our consumption. Thus, the design requirements have been met. I would highly recommend Energy Select if you are considering such an installation on your property.

Karen's customer service & direction has been top notch. She leaves no stone unturned in getting the information that you need. Most months we are charged by our power company just the distribution fee due to having the solar panels installed by Energy Select. I have nothing but pleasant things to say about the process & company overall!

Had multiple companies quotes. This company had better quality materials and for less. Karen was great explaining the process and calling regularly to make sure everything was good. Zach was also awesome. I had a problem where I didn’t like where box was and they came out the next day and fixed it.

Can't say enough good things about Gregg and his team with Energy Select. I've done a couple projects with them and they have always been up front, on time, and very informative about the process. I'd highly recommend them to anyone, even if you're looking at doing something in the long term. It doesn't matter if it's an instant project or something you're just collecting information on, they will treat you the same.

Energy Select did a great job installing new insulation in my crawl space and sealing the joints in my attic. They completed it all in one day and worked with me on some confusing instructions. I am already seeing a difference in my comfort level and electric bills.

Energy Select did an outstanding job of walking ua through the various ways that my wife and I could save money by not just having a solar panel system installed in our home, but we also weatherized our home, updated out heating and cooling systems, and hot water heater as part of the project. We experienced immediate savings and are definitely wondering what took us so long to work with Energy Select. I highly recommend their services.

If you are considering Solar, this is THE WAY to go. I'm not even exaggerating. It all started for me with being broached by another solar panel company that goes around knocking on peoples door trying to sell them on a system. It peaked my interest and I started doing some serious homework and looking at other options to make sure I was getting the best deal. That's what brought me to Energy Select and it was the best thing to happen to me in my "going solar" decision. Karen provided amazing customer service and my wife and I felt like she was truly interested in helping us out and selling us the right product. The panels are made in the U.S., which was a HUGE plus for us and their install team was considerate, personable, and professional. Once our system came online, it only took a couple months (because we started in the winter) before we eliminated our electric bill. Going solar is a great decision but a huge part of that is going with the right company. This is the right company.

Electrician Mike and assistant Billy laid it all out so as to minimize interference with planned siding install later. My install was officially finished last week. I must say I am very much satisfied with the company and those of it who interacted with me during the install. Karen made sure to let me know all the options, details and specifics when I was first getting started. She was available and quick to answer any questions that came up along the journey. The crew worked efficiently and as trained professionals. The crew was also informative about their progress over the course of the install and able to address any concerns or questions I had. It was also nice to know the different phases of the install and where I was at, what will be happening in that phase, what comes next and when.

I live in a typical Cobb Island cottage, built one room at a time starting in 1927! We have always had high electric bills but when I retired I contacted SMECO for the energy use inspection. That inspection was free and I received an estimate of the cost to redo /add insulation to my attic and crawl space from Energy Select. Energy Select works with SMECO so there are rebates built in before you even start, which saved me over half the cost.
The actual installation took 2 days, in the terrible heat we had this summer. The crew did the attic in one day and the crawl space the next. They were never in the way, very polite and answered all of my many, many questions . They cleaned up everything, even some things that were found in the oldest part of the attic.
I cannot recommend this company highly enough. I am completely pleased with the process and the work that was done.

I had some very specific design requests in an effort to reduce the aesthetic impact to my house and the engineering and installation teams rose to the challenge. Any questions were promptly resolved by the Customer Representative Tamika Duncan. The companies process for keeping the customer informed during each phase of the solar project was excellent. Recently purchased a solar energy system for the house (75% offset). From start to finish the entire process was enjoyable with all the staff from Energy Select, Karen who gave me a myriad of options and answered all my questions to help me make a well researched investment that I know will pay off in years to come.

Zach who helped with the engineering and provided options for install locations with minimal impact to the home or its appearance. Will who assisted with the post install inspections and permitting process was available and worked around our schedules to make sure we got the certification to operate, as well as explained the process and expectations.

The install crew was very professional and gave an explanation of what they would be doing and placed the supplies in a way to not impact our day to day. Tamika with operations was helpful with updates on the multiple stages of the project as well as any questions I had during the process.

Again, the entire staff at this company was phenomenal with their professionalism and experience they provided during the process. System has only been on a few days and it's exciting to see how well it works even with the cloudy weather.

I have used ES twice in the last year. The first time they changed the lights out in my church located in Waldorf. They got in early and worked through the day to complete the job. Flawless work and results. Like night and day in my sanctuary. Really a clean look and our members appreciate the natural look.
The next job they did recently was in my candle shop in Waldorf. The lighting was horrible and very outdated. the crew got in and being a smaller job, I think it was no more than 4 hours to completion. My retail space looks bright and wonderful.
For both of these jobs, the techs were Shaun, William and Kolby. Great attitudes, knowledgeable and willing to do what is necessary to make the customer experience great.

I hired Energy Select to do my install at my townhome which was a difficult install. They helped me obtain financing, took care of all of the install including changes that needed to be made, lined up the rebates and SREC credits, full stop shop! They use quality panels and batteries at reasonable prices.

They support the SMECO home energy program which is designed to encourage people to upgrade their old electric heating and air-conditioning systems and to properly insulate homes. To do this, SMECO provides matching grants for most projects. This is not income limited, so everybody should check this program out. They offer home owners a free energy efficiency assessment and if you choose to implement a recommendation such as adding insulation, (which qualifies for a matching-type grant) they re-perform the energy test and you can actually measure the improvement.

I added insulation and immediately saw a small but real reduction in AC usage. The guys who did the installation were super. They were neat, polite and worked energetically for about 6 hours to get the job done. I had anticipated disruption during this process, and was very impressed at how they worked without intruding on me or activities in my home.

Also, these folks can provide solar energy alternatives and they know all of the ins and outs of the government programs that provide additional grants/support.

Am I impressed with these folks? You bet! Super glad I called them. And no, I have no connection with them.

This program was so awesome I truly don't have the words to express I am a single mother with a disabled child could not afford this without their help job well done.

The Energy Select rep who I worked with explained the work to be done and the reasons it was recommended. He always answered phone calls and e-mails, promptly responded to my questions, and was pleasant to work with. The team who did the installation worked diligently, we’re thorough, and took pride in their efforts. We are very satisfied with the overall experience.

Pleased overall! Took nearly 7 months from day we decided to “go for it” to finish install. Glad we got it with the 26% fed tax credit-the tax credit is gunna take us 2 years to get fully back. Our system is estimated to cover approx 92% of our energy use, winter will be harder than summer. Karen has been great at communicating and getting answers! Shaun had been a god send at managing it all, my instal team (Christians team) we’re awesome! Always on time, answered my questions gave me a heads up on the expectations of the day, and Zachary coming in as QA at the end was awesome! Easy to contact! Call/email/text. Which is ideal. I know they are swamped now especially with SMECO’s rates going up so props for balancing it all. Local company and people, worth the investment!! Thanks guys!

I am so disheartened to have to write this review. The people at Energy Select are very nice folks but they just missed the mark on this one. I signed the contract to have my solar panels installed in the Waldorf, MD area during February 2022. Five moths later, My inspection has failed with the county twice and I am awaiting a new reinspection date. The first time was because Energy Select failed to have staff on site with the proper paperwork for the inspector to review. The second failed inspection was due to incorrect solar certification documentation.

Energy Select has failed to communicate with me on several occasions to coordinate work/inspections. I have rearranged my schedule to be at my home only for them to NOT show up. No matter how nice they are and quick to offer their apologies this is a major inconvenience. Did I mention, I am still waiting on a reinspection date! I am sure solar power would be great if I could ever get on the grid. Their performance during install makes me skittish if I ever have to call them for a problem once the system is up and running. What would that timeline/service look like?

I want to especially give two thumbs down to Shawn Hamm, Director of Operations!!! The problem with most companies is sales is the only department performing above par. Shawn continues to give details that are misleading. The nerve of him to be upset because I am frustrated after 2 failed inspections, no access to my energy dashboard portal, poor communication from Energy Select, missed appts, no delivery dates for missed delivery dates of materials promised over two weeks ago & the list goes on. He could learn a few things from a stellar customer service course. I guess they figure I am between a rock and a hard place because the panels are up, now I will have to wait on them to complete the job.

The program is great and the installers were nothing short of professional, the entire process was explained in great detail and the execution was flawless. Highly recommend all to reach out and see where they can save on their electricity output especially during these times.

Let me begin with the system works, repairs were completed in a timely manner. My problem was issues with communication before, and during the install.

I approved the system box on the side of the house in one location and it was changed without talking to me. It was changed for a reason, but communication would have been appropriate as I had to approve the location in the first place.

Then I was lied to about the 26% energy rebate; it is a tax credit and not a rebate. You will only get your rebate back if you pay that much in taxes. Otherwise you will slowly get your money back. Each year you still have credit remaining you can apply that to the next years taxes.

I enjoy my system, and love in the summer I have a surplus of electricity. I just wish I went and added more panels, as I now have a better understanding of the solar system setup.

Energy Select was an overall great experience for installing solar at our home. Not only did they walk us through the inspection, permitting, and installation process, but they also helped submit paperwork for the state grant and solar energy credit brokerage. That went above and beyond what we could get from other solar companies. Energy Select would update me regularly on the status of my system installation and checked up on me after the system was turned on.

06/26/2025 update:

One of the best decisions I have made. The system is working great. Recent warm month bills have been in the negative balance and I still get an SREC deposit every month (used to be quarterly). Buy solar, don't lease.

The decision to go with a local company was the right move. I vetted out both Energy Select and a large national company. Took us a year to decide and shortly after activation we have our first $0 bill from SMECO and have accumulated 5+ SRECS! Thank you Karen Gable and team.

Energy Select has been very informative about my new system to this point. They have a process update for each milestone with a video. Kudos to Karen Gable my energy advisor, makes me feel as if she works just for me.

The complete experience from beginning to end was completely seamless. Marci came out to our shop for the initial audit and from the time the paperwork was signed to completion was only about 3 weeks. I would highly recommend Energy Select.

Marci and the Energy Select Team were awesome! They helped us design a solar system that met the needs of our farm and family and helped make a dream of ours a reality.

Mike and Adrian did a great job installing our EV charger. They arrived on time and started right away and was able to finish a possible 2-day job in a day. Shoutout to Shaun and Toni as well for assisting and to their director Steve for personally making sure the whole process is seamless.
