We recently had work performed by Dr. Energy Saver back in February of this year. Our house was built in 1976 and we were experiencing ice forming and melting around the perimeter of the living room. We Called Dr. Energy Saver to come out to perform their energy audit. (Which is Free). Tim Darling was our representative. He was easy to talk to and was very knowledgeable. He quickly identified our problem as one of improper air flow throughout the walls and attic due to lack of sealing and proper insulation that would follow today’s standards. Using no gimmicks and not being pushy, Tim went through our house for about an hour and a half, attic to crawl space using nothing but a thermal imager and laser pointers to point out all of our problem areas and the means to fix them. He prepared us a quote full of PDF’s with visual aids to help fully explain the work involved. He quoted us 2 days to get the work done and it was completed on schedule. The crew was very courteous and knew what they were doing. The job site cleanup was immaculate. Since the work was performed, we saw immediate results! No more ice in the ceilings and our furnace ran about half the time as it used to. The crawl space which is the coolest space in the house used to be an icebox. Now it is comfortable to go into. So far this year, we have yet felt the need to turn on our air conditioner. The house is now much cooler in the summer and warmer in the Winter. We would highly recommend Dr. Energy Saver for any insulating or energy efficiency needs.

I discovered Dr. Energy Saver on the Internet in the summer of 2018 when I was researching remedies for ice dam formation. The video presentation I found was clear and concise. I response to my call, a very professional evaluator (Tim D.) showed up and appraised my situation. Apart from giving me a thorough and understandable explanation for my problem, he informed me that my existing insulation contained asbestos and would have to be removed before the necessary improvements to prevent another ice dam.

This led to another search for an environmental contractor to remove the asbestos. Fortunately, Tim had acquainted me with a trust fund which was set up to help ameliorate the costs of asbestos abatement, and which eventually reimbursed me about $4,000.

Once the abatement was complete, the Dr. Energy Saver crew (supervised by Tim, Ray and Sue) completed the air-sealing and installation of new cellulose insulation in a single day in December 2018. There was an immediate noticeable improvement in the warmth of the house: the wood floors were not so cold! I have not looked for changes in my gas bill yet, but I am content that the house is much more energy-efficient.

There was one minor glitch in the process. After the new insulation was installed, I observed a persistent small area of snow melt on the roof that could potentially cause an ice dam. After I reported this to Tim, he came out to the house and analyzed the problem. There was a subtle leak of warm air from one of the walls adjacent to the shower enclosure in the bathroom. Tim took charge and arranged for his crew to tweak the air sealing in this area. I think they may have done an “over-kill” job, as it looks like there is no way for air to pass into the attic.

This just in: the latest information about natural gas consumption indicates a decrease of about 30% over last year’s consumption with roughly the same average daily temperature.

Our contact person, Tim, was excellent from start to finish. He provided a thorough assessment and explained all of the results to me before giving me a detailed proposal with a rationale for each item. The installation proceeded as promised, the prices were great, and we are delighted with the results.

We had the work done to our knee wall attics in the late fall of 2018. Our upstairs had historically been colder than the main level and we had to use space heaters in order to keep the rooms warm. During the 2018-19 winter we experienced extremely low temperatures outside for a couple of days when the polar vortex came through the area. The rooms stayed warm and we didn't need to use the space heaters at all. It was an unexpected test but the insulation proved successful and we are very satisfied.

What a Joke. I hired them for an energy audit for $250... the guy came to my house and did not have the needed equipment to do the proper testing. He walked around my house, with no specific feedback and then said he would reschedule but never heard anything in theist 3 weeks. My guess is he did not se enough things they could upset and charge me for.

They came out and gave us a free inspection and estimate. When we decided to get the work done they worked they came out immediately and started work a week after that. They worked with financing and the job was done quickly and efficiently. All of the workers were very nice and cleaned up when they were done. The office staff also kept in contact to keep up informed on the process. Highly recommend, worth the cost!
