I hired Deckman in March 2023 to build a new deck, and while the construction was completed within two months, Deckman failed to follow the proper process for obtaining a permit and scheduling the required county inspection.
For over a year and a half, I made multiple attempts to resolve this issue with Deckman, but my communications were repeatedly ignored. As a result, I was left with an unpermitted and non-compliant deck.
It was only after obtaining legal representation and sending a demand letter in January 2025 that Deckman finally completed the necessary requirements in March 2025—two years after the initial contract was signed.
While I am satisfied with the finished deck and appreciate the efforts of the on-site Project Manager, the lack of responsiveness and failure to fulfill obligations made this an unnecessarily stressful and frustrating experience.
I do not recommend Deckman at all.

Esgardo and his team had our old decking torn out and the new porch flooring installed in just one day and it looks beautiful! Very good quality work, fair pricing and really nice people. TLDR: Electrical was installed incorrectly, still doesn’t work, and despite several communications, Deckman has refused to fix the problem.

Deckman removed my old deck and built a new one. Design was great. When they began construction, however, they read the plans wrong and built the deck in the wrong direction. We had to show the team the plans, call the office and confirm with the original designer, but after a few days they fixed it and continued building. After about 3 weeks the deck was complete. Within a month of the deck being completed we noticed that the deck light wasn’t attached to the wall. The lower level sensor light never worked. We had some contractors out to do other work and asked their thoughts about the lighting that never worked. According to their expert opinion, the wiring used for the outdoor lighting was actually interior cords/wiring and it was done incorrectly. That paired with the very visible issue of the upper level deck light not being attached to the wall seemed like a good reason to have them out to fix. We called several times, emailed the emails we had. The call backs were few, messages were left and it took probably 6 months for them to commit to sending someone out. But that person would just announce when they were in the area, as if the rest of the world doesn’t work and have their own schedules. We requested that we actually schedule a time when we could be home. After 2 visits, including electrical, they called us back and decided that our request was outside of the warranty despite the fact that we contacted them about the issue many months prior.

Deckman wasn’t the cheapest, but definitely on the lower end. You get what you pay for. If you go with Deckman, like with any contractor, you’ll need to pay attention to all the details and monitor their work. But the major issues we had were post-construction and warranty. Once the job is done they were pretty much unresponsive. Also, question who they are using for electrical and ask to see their license.

Also they said I couldn’t get a white pet gate and had to settle for a black one. They wouldn’t paint it.

I want to thank you for the outcome of my deck and stairs. The workers (especially Franklin and Jessica) did a fantastic job. I am very pleased with the results. Thank you for assisting me during this process.

I worked closely with Bob Hayden, a consultant from Deckman to evaluate my deck repair. I was deeply impressed by his professionalism and attention to detail. He got back to my questions promptly. Our deck was a mess after 18 years and a couple of shady contractors "fixing" it.... Deckman came right out gave us an initial estimate and told us that there may be additional costs depending on what they found when they disassembled it. They fixed what the other contractors did and added support, then they put all the decking back down perfectly. It is solid as a rock and looks GREAT. There was a little bit extra money required but the whole job was VERY reasonable. I highly recommend them.

The end product is excellent and the price was fair, but we needed to point our several issues along the way which involved several trips. They promoted a referral credit which we finally got after multiple requests. I would definitely use them again based on the quality and price.

This company does not understand how to manage expectations. They promise everything under the sun, and then when it comes time to do the work, the crew does not show multiple times. I received many rain cancellations when it would be sunny outside. Getting ahold of anyone is a nightmare, and the "Warranty" they have, is like pulling teeth. Do yourself a favor and pay a little extra more to get it done from someone reputable. The crew were hard workers, when they showed up sporadically. To save time on a lengthy post, I would recommend, NEVER pay up front, and finance the amount, so that way you are protected from terrible customer service and project "delays." I heard so many times about the supply chain and getting supplies, you should've had every single material ready to go before the project started, it took 6.5 weeks to finish a job we were told would take 2 weeks. Our back yard looked like a mess, and we are still waiting for the gate to be fixed. I am less than pleased, and I hope this review helps get someone to reconsider dumping their money.

I cancelled the first appointment due to family emergency. The driver cancelled the second appointment due to tire issues. So I gave them another opportunity since we both cancelled once. The company called me at the exact time they were supposed to be here asking to reschedule. I said no thank you I will find another company.

We had contacted DeckMan in 2020 to get a quote on refinishing our deck. Put that project on hold for a while, but reconnected with them in January '23. Andy - the estimator/sales person provided the quote both times. He was super responsive on my numerous questions, and helped make decisions that I'm happy with. On transition to the construction team, Franklin and his crew were likewise very open to answering questions. They did a great job, and took care of some unforeseen issues in the existing condition carefully. We're thrilled with the end result.

As a home owner for several years now, this is the first renovation job that has actually been completed in the time estimated by a contractor. Barry from Deckman was very helpful in redesigning our deck layout to maximize space and was very responsive overall all. In addition, Deckman's crew was professional, timely, and most importantly communicated to us frequently as to the status of the project. The deck is of highly quality materials and looks beautiful. We hired Deck Man to resurface and restain (including replacing a small number of damaged boards) our deck. They did not prepare properly before staining, so within months, both the new and old stains were lifting, and bubbling in places. Needless to say, this has caused quite some damage to our deck.

We had our wooden deck restored with Trex. The whole process was done in a very professional manner. We received a complete estimate with multiple options. A very professional and hardworking team did the work. Work was completed on time. Very happy with the way our deck appears and the workmanship put in to finishing the project on time.

DeckMan replaced my 14 year old deck and upgraded it to trex composite. Their estimate process was very easy and friendly. The work was outstanding. They were very detailed oriented. If your looking to resurface your deck or upgrade to trex composite. I highly recommend this company.

So called owner has no communication skills, shows no urgency to deal with issues and no clue about customer service. The crew was usually an hour or more late with no notification even showing up unannounced.
Leaving trash on site, telling us there is no way to rectify issues with the project and lied about coming back to follow up after the project was "completed". A "head technician" was sent to resolve issues who was actually a contractor. The salesman completely disappeared after the contract was signed and questions about the proposal went unanswered. A call to the company goes unanswered including a representative not knowing who the owner is...

From beginning to end, we were very happy with Deckman's service. We searched around and contacted 5 different deck companies for estimates to expand and screen in our current deck. We ended up choosing Deckman as they seemed the most knowledgeable/capable as well as having the best price which never hurts. We couldn't have asked for better service from Andy who came out to give us the estimate, to scheduling w/ Mel the production manager, and finally to Cesar and crew who actually built our deck. Andy came out and inspected our 20+ year old deck and noticed some of the support posts needed to be replaced and also gave us a great idea to extend the deck which we hadn't thought of, all within our budget. Cesar and crew executed the project in about 6 working days. Our new deck extension and screened in porch was ready just in time for the long Memorial Day weekend. The family LOVES our new deck and we are spending more time outside than inside now. Thank you Deckman!

“Please note Sharon Bucholz is a professional troll. She has a long history of editing, deleting, & reposting the same negative reviews year after year for attention. If you look at her reviews here in google and yelp you will notice she has marked multiple reputable "5 star rated companies" with "1 star" and continued to troll them years after.

Background on this project
This project was completed "3 years" ago. We have sent our service crews back out "FIVE" times to help remedy the situation. Please note this deck is 28+ years old and sharon has unrealistic expectations. We even had a Sherwin Williams rep go out to inspect the deck. They concluded the deck boards are too old and need to be replaced. On our initial estimate we recommend and gave sharon multiple options including a replacement. She opted for the bare minimum repairs. We have done absolutely everything to help remedy the situation. We are very proud to say we will go above and beyond to make our customers happy”.

FIRST, I resent being called a TROLL. And yes, I have updated my Deckman review several times. And the only other review I’ve updated was for an asphalt company who resurfaced my driveway. I actually just give honest reviews of my experiences, good or bad, which is what I thought the purpose of reviewing was intended to be.
SECOND, Deckman NEVER gave me multiple options, and they NEVER suggested a replacement. The purpose of hiring them was to give my deck a “Trex” makeover as they advertised, and charged $5+K to complete. When they evaluated my 21’x25’ deck they said that only 9 boards would need replacing. Not bad I’d say, for a 28 yr old deck. That’s because I stained it every 2 yrs throughout all those years. I had them replace whatever boards they determined needed replacing, I NEVER opted for any such “bare minimum”. They replaced the boards that needed replacing, and power washed my deck all in the same day they applied the 3 coats of their “Trex” like makeover product. Once it began to peel weeks later, they sent a worker several times in attempt to remedy the poor job. It was never successful though, and they NEVER had a Sherwin Williams rep meet with me or look at my deck.
If my honest review of my personal very bad experience spares just one person from wasting money on a “Trex” makeover, it will be worth DeckMan’s name calling of me.

We hired Deckman to replace our old wood deck with Trex. They did an absolutely amazing job and exceeded our expectations with their quality and speed. One day to pull off the old flooring, benches and lattice, one day to repair/replace damaged wood, and one day to put on new Trex flooring and solid skirting around the deck to keep out raccoons and other critters. The team that came out were very polite and friendly and did a really great job! They always arrived on time, cleaned up the yard at the end of each day and were careful not to damage the landscaping. We will certainly recommend them and use them in the future!

We used Deck Man a few months ago to re-stain our 265 sq ft deck with their trex-like composite. It looks so good now— it seriously looks better than new. I couldn’t be happier!

Update: Mel reached out to us and promised to send another team (Wilson and Julio) to install the flashing and make sure everything else was fixed. They came out next day and everything is awesome. Thanks guys!

Our experience started out well. They replaced our old deck for a reasonable price. Mel helped us schedule the plan and is overall very responsive. The issues we have had are with the installation team and project manager. The demolition was supposed to start on a Friday, but they didn't come until Saturday (fine things happen). They were then supposed to start early Saturday morning bit not show up until close to noon. They took out the old deck and put in the posts. They told us they would stop by Sunday morning to do the install, but they again did not show up until close to noon and worked until 10pm. We inspected the deck later that week since we couldn't see anything at 10pm at night and noticed that they never installed flashing to protect the house from water damage and there was a piece of exposed house from the siding they did not replace. We were told to send pictures to the project manager Brandon, which we did. We set up a time for them to come back out on Saturday to fix these issues, but they never came. We have since made 4 additional appoints but they are always a no show without any communication.

UPDATE: 6/12/19
Upon reaching out to Deck Man, they successfully resolved our issues regarding the footprints. Our deck looks great!

My husband and I tried our best to give this company a benefit of a doubt. We selected Deckman for our deck restoration project and boy don't we regret it! They are reasonably priced but the quality of work is exceedingly poor/suffers. We are dissatisfied with the the services received and the outcome of the project. The crew members left embedded footprints in the paint and/or coating. We reached out to Deckman in regards to the footprints and was told that they were dirt deposits. We were advised to scrub the deck with soapy water and a scrub brush. We tried everything to remove the footprints, even power washing, but to no avail.

Used them to update my current front patio rail system to white composite. Very impressed with their woksmanship. Will use them in the future to replace my decking with trex. Highly recommend these guys. Mel and the crew were hard working and honest.

I signed an agreement to have Deckman repaint my deck with an epoxy based material because they gave me the impression there was a ten year money back guarantee. Perhaps I was to naive to ask more questions about what was included in the warranty. After they finnished the job I had to schedule another visit for them to paint the lattice around the deck because that was ignored even though it was in the contact. They were also very sloppy with the paint, spilling some in my yard and painting a decent ammount of the actual house where it meets the deck including a 3 inch by 10 foot portion along one wall. The entire deck started to bubble up, paint and peel within two weeks. They have come back to the house on three different occasions but the deck still looks horrible and keeps cracking/bubbling and they have been unable to match the paint on my house with two different tries. They said because the paint on my house is old (four years old and looks great) that they cannot be expected to match it. They are also saying that they will not reimburse me for the work they did because it is only a "ten year manufacturer warranty on the coating."

Restored my deck to a very good state.. I had bought it from someone else and i had to make it better. They helped me a great deal.. And their work was very professional and they never wated my time.. They did a wonderful job.
