Ace hardware is a great place and very helpful but the lady at the counter needs an attitude adjustment. They were giving away free flags for Memorial Day and I kindly asked if I could buy a second one and she was so ugly! All she had to do was say no nicely. Wow hope I don’t encounter her again .

The employees at this store are SUPER helpful! I have been to this store about a dozen times and as soon as you walk in the door, you are greeted and asked if you need help. If you're looking for something specific, rather than telling you where it is, they walk you over to the exact location of the item you're looking for and they find it for you. During one trip, I needed a new water shut off valve in a weird size (for iron pipe) and the employee took his time helping me figure out exactly what I needed. Apparently 1/2" copper and 1/2" iron are not the same size.

As one can read in the majority of the reviews; the staff here are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The store is well stocked and has the essentials. What makes this local hardware store so great is the commitment to the community and to the customers that walk through the doors.

Great local owned small business. The people that work here are knowledgeable and very helpful. It is great to be able to stop in a small hardware store and grab what I need instead of having to run all the way into Harrisonburg to go to Lowe's or home Depot. This place saves me a lot of time when I need that random nut or bolt or if something has sprung a leak and I need to fix it. Highly recommend supporting our locally owned small businesses.

It's a friendly place to find hardware locally without going to a big chain store. The customer service is outstanding. They are ready to help you with anything you need and explain how to fix what you're working on. Typically the advice is spot on.

It's nice having a small hardware store close by to home. They offer a lot of different items, but unfortunately, they usually don't have many extras of a single item that you may be looking for.

For example, faucets. They have many options for faucets, but maybe just one box, for any particular item, on the shelf.

Another positive is their prices, which are competitive with Lowe's or Home Depot, so you don't feel like you have to use your gas to drive into Harrisonburg to get something you can get here at Dean Home Center.

Friendly staff! Place is put together nicely, isles are clean, shelves are stocked. The staff are always friendly and when they see you looking they offer their assistance! 4 stars because renting equipment can take some time because it always seems like nobody is at the counter. It's a great store, I like going their when I need special items.

Dean's home center in Elkton Va went above and beyond to help me. The service center was fantastic. I dropped off a Sthil weed trimmer for preventive maintenance. I was told it would be the following week before they could get to it but They had my trimmer serviced in 2 days and called me to tell me it was ready."That is great service" I will continue to use this store and recommend it to family and friends.Very happy and satisfied with this store and the service I received.

Tried to find a specific battery and all the other stores had to order it, but Dean Home had one in stock at just about the same price as the other stores.

Service questions

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
