Our experience with Cowan Roofing was Positive. They looked closely at what needed to be fixed and came up with a fair estimate. When it was time for the repair the workers showed up on time and worked hard to get the job completed. Everyone I talked to with this company was nice from the office staff to the guys on the roof. I was given the impression they liked what they did and who they worked for! I think that says a lot!

We had water spots on our ceiling and in 2023 we had one guy come and patch the roof. Great, but wasn't the problem. 2025, we've had lots of rain and again water spots in our ceiling after we've repaired everything. We called, explained the situation and they sent another gentleman, their "best guy", he couldn't find a leak, said the roof looked fine, but here's a $20,000 estimate for a brand new roof. Today a server thunderstorm and guess what, leaking! My husband went up in the attic and was able to find the leak along a seam without any training. We will be calling some other companies now.

We had a leak in our master bedroom where water would drip on our bed. I called 2 other roofing companies to repair my leak, they come out and repair and not even 6 months later, my roof starts dripping again. Fast forward this week and finally had to call another company, so i decided to go with Cowen roofing to see what they’re about. Ok so this awesome dude Harrison shows up and lets me explain and show him everything. He evens goes in my attic to hunt down this leak. Needless to say, we have had some serious rainy nights and this guy Harrison nailed it perfectly. I couldn’t have asked for a better job. Very professional. I will definitely be using them if i ever get a roof.

I had a great experience with Cowan Roofing. Their price and the warranty they offer the work were both very good. The sales guy was thorough with his explanations, but never badgered me or gave me the "hard sell".

When job day came, my project supervisor, Ryan, was friendly and helpful and kept me informed every step of the way. The crew was efficient and professional. They got the job done quickly and did great with the cleanup.

Hopefully I'm good on my roofing needs for the next few decades, but if for some reason I do need another roof, I would definitely call these guys first.

After interviewing numerous roofing companies I selected Cowan roofing. From Start to finish, they did an excellent job. Their estimator, Harrison Jenkins was not only professional but also answered all my questions and spent time suggesting alternative methods if I so chose them. Their estimates were clear and concise with everything they intended to do plus the warranty. The crew that came out to complete the work did an excellent job. They were fast, courteous and seem to know exactly what they were doing. Cleanup was great and no debris was left at all. After they were done, the supervisor inspected the job and took pictures. All of the other companies that I interviewed did not compare to this company at all. If you want to hire a company that does a great job without any hassles, Cowan is the company for you. I highly recommend them.

From beginning to end our experience with Cowan Roofing was first-rate. Their roof and gutter installation team of six was highly skilled, extremely efficient ( they completed the entire install in 1 day), and true to the original estimate. And when we discovered a hole in the house siding close to the newly installed gutter, two team members returned the next day to repair it, even though it was not part of the job. It's rare to find this level of service.

This is the second time we’ve used Cowan for our roofing needs. They put new shingles on our current home a few years ago, and just put a metal roof on our new home build. Both times, the crews were amazing. Guy Painter was the Project Supervisor for the metal roof. He and his crew were beyond efficient and worked, without stopping, each day they were there. In fact, a neighbor came over to tell us how hard these guys worked and wanted to know who was doing our roof. Guy, and his team, actually went above and beyond by helping me get a cow off of our property over to where she belonged. We were thinking the company’s new name should be COW-and-Roofing! Anyhow, great company, great supervisor, and great team! Quality work!!!

Cowan roofing is a great company to work with. Everyone from the estimator to the office folks and the crew and supervisor in the field. They were prompt each morning and worked hard to provide a top quality product which was completed in a day and a half. They use top notch products and don’t cut corners when it comes to quality workmanship.

The estimator took time with me to understand the info I had collected about our leak. He correctly assessed the problem without trying to sell up to a more expensive repair. He temporarily sealed the leak and the work was done as fast as possible in hurricane season. When a couple of water damaged sheets of plywood were discovered, the additional cost was explained and the extra work incorporated into the job. A fault in the original roofing job (20 years old) was corrected. The craftsmanship in re-flashing the chimney area and recapping the chimney impressed me. I would recommend Cowan Roofing without reservation.

We saw that they had recently replaced our neighbor's roof and decided to give them a call for an additional quote (Never get just one) and Cowan really impressed us. Their Roofing estimate was done casually without pressure, but what impressed me the most was how flexible Harrison was in being available to answer my questions and come back out to our house to speak with us while we were home. He even wrote us some additional paperwork to help our plight with insurance. Ultimately what won us over was their use of quality materials paired with a superior warranty (compared to all other quotes). Their professionalism was top notch throughout the entire process. Ultimately the roof installation went off without a hitch. And we are left satisfied with a quality product with a great warranty. I highly recommend you at least get a quote from them if you need roof work done.

The team at Cowan Roofing has been wonderful to work with from the initial estimate to the finished work. The office was very responsive to my questions and kept me in the loop as to all the details pertaining to the work as well as any necessary follow up. We have a 20 year old roof which probably could be replaced, however, they suggested the option to perform a little maintenance that may give us another 5 years or so before having to replace our roof. Cowan Roofing recently replaced our roof, and I have nothing but praise for their efforts. From initial contact to job completion, they were professional, punctual and did an excellent job. Their personnel for the inspection and estimate arrived on time (rare these days) and were the only company of the three estimates we obtained who took the trouble to look at the underside of the roof from our attic to assure that their would be no unexpected problems. My highest kudos go to the gentlemen who actually did the work. They worked hard, efficiently, and cleaned up our property of debris and nails not only upon completion, but also after the first of the two days of work. I just had Guy and his team from Cowan Roofing replace my roof and want to thank them for the efficient and thoughtful way they worked. It took only two days and when they were finished, they cleaned up all the debris and nails beautifully. At the end of the first day they picked up the debris for that day so they had a clean work area to begin the next day’s work. There was no plant damage to my landscaping and my roof is beautiful, all the bad areas were repaired so there’s no worries for the next rain storm. I have a log cabin that had leaks in various places. The Cowan rep thoroughly looked at everything, and clearly specified what was in their skill-set, and where I needed to turn to a log cabin expert. The repairs they recommended were well found, and the price for the job was quite reasonable. On the day of the job the workmen did their job efficiently.

Turns out that two solid rains and one month later, my utility room ceiling drywall collapsed from a new, and vicious, leak. Looked like Cowan didn't do their job. I called, and they sent out a roofer to look, and he showed that the log work in one spot was greatly compromised, and was part of the cabin remediation I should have attended to a while ago. The technician nervertheless went the extra mile and applied a temporary patch to the rotten log end, and did extra sealing everywhere in the region.

The company is local, personable, and a solid part of the community. Proud to have them as neighbors and as my go-to roof guys.

Excellent job on the roof of our newly purchased house. They were able to get to us quickly, as l it was starting to leak. It's a large roof with lot of skylights that needed to be replaced. The new skylights are great. Very nice to work with.

Cowan Roofing did great job bailing us out of a tough spot. Our builder (of which whom I will not mention) never built our roof "to code" and we didn't find out about it until our roof began leaking water in the garage due to a bad rain storm. In some areas, the builder put shingle directly on plywood and there was no water and ice shield at all. We checked the reviews of several companies before choosing Cowan and they definitely didn't disappoint. Cowan's staff showed up early, greeted us, and explained the details of the job and finished exactly when they said they would. For about 6-7 hours of work, the job looks amazing, confirming the accuracy of previous reviews. It is not often that contractors and companies keep their work and deliver excellent service, but for your roofing needs, Cowan should be your first call.

From the start with Michael, to the tear off and install, and the final walk around, your company was very very professional and friendly. All of my questions/concerns were answered completely and accurately prior to and during installation. We called due to a leaking gutter outside a kitchen window; Wesley came out to give an estimate fairly quickly and provided an estimate the same afternoon. We were scheduled within a short time and two young men came out and quickly made the repair. We were given an arrival window and Daniel called about 20 minutes prior to their arrival which was appreciated. The entire process was quick, easy, and professional as far as scheduling and having the work completed and I would highly recommend the company to anyone.

The one negative thing I would say is that I noticed Daniel was smoking as he was working; I saw him come down the ladder with a cigarette. This time it was not an issue, but we have a child in the household that is extremely sensitive to smoke so if the windows had been open and the smoke drifted in this could have been a serious issue. I would still hire the company again, but I don't think smoking on the job is professional and it should be something that is considered.

My roof was replaced last week. Dealing with Cowan Roofing was easy. Wesley came out and gave information about replacing the roof and the condition. Contacted him again about adding skylights. Gave the go ahead for the replacement, with complete confidence that it would be done correctly. The crew that did the work were excellent. Dealt with Mollie and Guy during replacement. The quality of materials and items added to the job were excellent. A 50 year warranty on materials. 25 year on workmanship. The fact that Cowan is a GAF Maser Elite Contractor. I had a roof, skylight, and gutter replacement due to damage from a storm as well as from age. Mr. Cowan and his staff were the ultimate professionals during every step of the process from coordination of certain details with my insurance company through installation. Their product is high quality, and the installation process was seamless. They cleaned up and hauled off the waste including every old nail. I am older and this was my first claim but it was painless thanks to the professionalism and effectiveness of their approach. Their work and their service absolutely cannot be beat. I highly recommend them for any roofing or gutter needs anyone may have. They make it happen.

we had some very old gutter guards replaced. Cowan had been recommended by a friend in Madison, several years ago, so they were our first call. They came out quickly and gave us an estimate, and the work was scheduled much more quickly than we expected. When the crew arrived, they were professional, informative, and even quiet. The work was completed in a few hours. Before they left, they told me that some shingles had been damaged in the course of getting the old gutter guards detached, and said they would be back to fix the roof as soon as they could get the matching shingles. We are elderly and would not have gone up and looked at the roof, and were impressed by their straightforwardness. They did come back quickly and repaired the roof. We will have to replace the roof in a few years and will of course call Cowan.

Cowan Roofing is the best roofing vendor that I've hired in over 30 years living in the central VA region. They did an excellent job repairing my roof, and when it came time for a replacement they provided a highly detailed estimate that specified all parts of the work and related costs. This company is highly trustworthy, communicates promptly and courteously, and can be replied upon to do an excellent job on fixing or replacing your roof.

Cowan installed my roof on my home i am building and the service and communication was outstanding from the office staff to the site manager and the installers. They arrived at the same time every day and worked very efficiently to complete the installation in 3 days. Exceptional company to work with i highly recommend them. After installing my new roof I needed to have gutters installed and called them out for a quote which was excellent and the installation and workmanship is outstanding.

I moved to Virginia from California two years ago and purchased a 60-year-old house. The Realtor was dishonest, her friend the inspector was incompetent, and her friend the contractor should not be licensed. So many "professionals" have been here for repairs and renovations, and COWAN ROOFING is the ONLY one I can wholeheartedly recommend. Nathan Cowan showed up exactly when promised, gave honest information, a fair price, and top-quality installation of a new roof, which brings many compliments. The unfortunate installers had to work in sweltering midsummer heat and humidity, yet never a slowdown or complaint. SUPERB workmanship in every regard, including cleanup.

If not available, owner Nathan promptly returns phone calls. I ADORE THIS COMPANY. Recently, I observed water dripping into the living room through the attic, phoned Nathan Cowan, and within a week he had two experts out here to seal the rotted chimney top.
