I think it's a real good product and not too bad to assemble.Sure it's a challenge and time consuming, it took 2 days but it was only myself and my fiancé and we are both in our late 60s! Its a 30 x12 but because the the weight of the tarp(it's pretty thick stuff) it was a real challenge getting it over the frame but we got it.It was delivered to us in Oct 2024 to Northern Ontario and it survived the winter just fine and we had a pile of snow this winter, with freezing rain and every thing else.
Prior to ordering, I was told by Claire Thompson the tent I wanted was in stock and the timeline would be 1 week to pack and 5-8 days for shipping and delivery.
At $7100 (incl tax and delivery), this was $4200 more than ShelterLogic, but half the delivery time as it was already made, so I ordered.
Responses to the timeline queries after the second week after order were met with “we’ll email you tracking when it ships” and did not improve.
5 weeks after ordering, the correct cover finally arrived, but attached to a customer from Ontario’s metal framework (I’m in BC)! The 2 tents are completely different, so I had to repackage and secure onto the pallet and wait for our pallets to be exchanged cross-country.
After another 3 weeks of overpromises and under-deliveries from manager Ian Kilfoil, I finally had all the correct parts to my tent in hand. 2 months after my original order date and four times as long as the original timeline. I had to delay an incoming wood order - and my whole project - as I needed the tent to be in position first.
Ian claimed to want to make my experience right. 4 weeks ago. Unsurprisingly, I never heard back from him.
Cover-Tech owner Jason Cox leads by example, as he’s never responded to any email or owned his company communication and order fulfillment failures. For this price, I expected better.
Mistakes happen. But, not once proactively communicating with your customer (blown timeline / wrong product shipped / re-blown timeline) or making amends is inexcusable.
My attitude with reviews has always been that there will be fake highs and cranky lows and the truth is probably somewhere in the middle. BUT. In this company’s case, please read the negative reviews here and if you see a pattern over the years, decide/plan accordingly. Unless you have a very long timeline and no expectations of communication or competence, I have to recommend looking elsewhere.
Update from the Whitewater Region, Ontario: After a mega snow winter, it’s still as good as the day it was built! Not an easy environment for anything with a weak construction or materials—this was a great test, and kudos to Cover-Tech Inc!
Let's start at the beginning. The online quote process was easy, and Ian provided great follow-up to secure the details of the order. As promised, after a few weeks, I received notice that it was ready for shipping at a very reasonable fee for 1,100 km. There were no issues with delivery. The challenge began with the installation instructions. Cover-Tech, you make a great product, and the quality is evident, but the instructions need some improvement to save time during installation. A simple list of required tools at the beginning, along with more detailed instructions and tips, would be helpful, as these become evident after completing an installation. Although I haven't tested it yet, I would buy again because the quality and service are excellent. With the experience gained, future installations would be faster, as the learning curve is steep without all the necessary details
