I recently hired Jose and his team to build a 20x16 deck around my above ground pool, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. The entire project took about two weeks, which I felt was very fast especially considering the high quality of work they delivered.

From the beginning, Jose was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and communicative. He guided me through the entire process from the initial estimate to pulling permits and through every phase of the build. He was in constant contact, sharing updates and even offering new ideas based on his experience, which to me shows his dedication and passion for his work.

The work done was top-notch. The deck looks amazing and is built like a tank. Jose’s pricing was also very fair. I got quotes from four different contractors, and not only was Jose’s price the best, but his customer service was like nothing else. It’s hard to find great contractors that actually care and he definitely cares about customer service and quality of work.

One thing that really stood out to me was when I mentioned possibly doing some landscaping around the pool. Without being asked, Jose went above and beyond by building a small paver square for my filter and pump setup! Just one example of the kind of thoughtfulness and professionalism he brings to the job.

I contacted Jose in 2021 to look at the in-law apartment in our home that was straight out of that 70's show. I got a quote from him and met two other contractors. We were not in a position financially to commit so we tabled the idea. Fast forward to this past summer and I reached out and did my due diligence getting another two quotes from other contractors. Both times he was the most professional, most reasonable, transparent and frankly did not look overwhelmed with the project. We ended up signing the contract and he started right away. Full demo, gut and rebuild. Jose takes total pride in his work. He asks the customer's opinion but was totally willing to just make a few design calls that I fully trusted him on (he is the professional). Don't be fooled but the small crew of guys as they hustle and clearly have been trained well. At the end of the day the space was picked up and organized. He was communicative and prompt. Honestly I was so nervous... The movie Money Pit was my only frame of reference for a remodel and this was nothing like that lol. If I had the money I would have him do all the other work that needs to be done in our home. I trust him implicitly! He is also just a really nice guy, they all were. I recommend them 100%

I was extremely happy with Jose and his team's renovation work in my home.  I was never worried about them in the house while I was not home They are true professionals, in my opinion. They were very easygoing and always available to answer my questions and thinking about the project. My husband and I absolutely love the two new decks and rails for our front steps completed by Jose and his Team!! We had a total makeover starting with tearing down the old wood decks (which was beginning to fall apart) and replacing them with Trex Decking. In addition, we added rails to our front door steps.

I started my deck process with Lowe’s and had a terrible experience that resulted in no deck after 10 months.

Working with County Home Improvements was a breath of fresh air. Jose was knowledgeable and professional. He went out of his way to make this process was as quick and smooth as possible.

We were given a beautiful deck with dust touches that make it feel like an extension of our home, rather than just a deck!! I highly recommend him and will be using him for all projects going forward.

Poor communication and not responsive. I filled out the form on his website for a quote and stated I was in Torrington. Jose emailed and asked for my full address. I provided it (including my town Torrington). He replied “sorry we don’t travel to Norwalk.” I emailed two more times clarifying Torrington not Norwalk but Jose never responded after that. I said Torrington a total of four times in our brief communication.

Jose and team were incredibly responsive and professional. They recently completed our bathroom remodel and we our thrilled with the results. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a contractor!

Jose and his Team rebuilt a 16x19 deck with matching Primary Suite balcony. The team was on-site every day as planned. Rain and shine. Worksite was cleaned nightly. Jose promoted outside scope design discussion and offered change suggestions for improved aesthetics along the way. Every add-on/Change Request was accommodated and budget transparent throughout. The Team was amazing at the other little details. Every Trex board was plum (not just where the spacers are positioned). The white wrapping lines were seamless! There wasn't one single thing this Type-A Construction Project Manager found displeasing. Jose was even great with the Zoning Departments in Town.

Amazing work done at a reasonable price. Jose and his crew went above and beyond on replacing my 32 year old deck with a new Trex deck. We bought our house in September 2020 and had been looking for a deck contractor since. Jose was AMAZING. Very affordable compared to a bunch of other quotes we got and let me tell you, he and his guys worked their tails off. The first day was in the teens, next few days it rained. Didn’t matter, they showed up, were digging out massive boulders to make piers and not letting anything stop them. Jose also took care of permits and it passed with ease. The guys even took their shoes off to come into the house when they had to use the restroom! Very respectful and we are very happy with the job they did.

Jose and crew came out and tore down our old deck and had the beautiful new one up and all done along with some new gates to keep the dogs in the yard within 4 days. They did a fabulous job, on time and professionally. All the crew were super nice and friendly. Our house is an old historic house and they designed it so it incorporated some of the original elements. Would highly recommend them for any job.

Jose and his team recently rebuilt our front porch and stairs. They did a fantastic job. From the start of the process until the end, Jose was honest and upfront in his communications with us. The team puts craftsmanship and care into the work they do. I would highly recommend them and will definitely hire them again should we have the need.

I contacted Jose from County Home improvements for repair of my 16'x25' backyard deck which was in considerable disrepair. He scheduled a prompt in-person quote and also had recommendations in terms of both design and appeared to have a good knowledge of building code. He provided both a written estimate as well as a copy of his insurance binder. The work was completed on time and I was extremely happy with the results. We use natural pressure treated wood. After demoing the existing deck obvious areas of rot were found which required more work than anticipated but even though this discovery increase the cost of the project he was very fair in negotiating the additional work and provided a new written estimate afterwards. The whole process was extremely professional and the product is excellent. Our total cost was $11,000. As a sub note, he also had some very nice suggestions for better design of the stairs and railing which i think looks better than the original layout. I wholeheartedly recommend this contractor.

I am very pleased with the bathroom renovation that was done. Jose and Jason were professional and courteous. They worked with attention to detail making sure the job was done right.

Our detached garage was crushed by a tree during a storm, County Home Improvement removed the rubble and built us a new garage/car port. They were competitively priced, patient while we had to deal with the insurance company, no pressure or unrealistic promises like we heard from some of the other people who submitted quotes. The process was very simple, County handled everything, answered all of our questions, pulled permits, etc. Aside from building us a great garage, they were very professional, gave us updates, showed up on time. They worked in some of the lousiest weather, rainy, cold, snowy, but no complaining, always showed up and got the job done. It really was a pleasure to work with them, so much so that we have asked them for a quote to update our kitchen. We would highly recommend County Home Improvements.

Update: I successfully sued this company and CT Home Improvement Guarantee Fund paid me back for the amount this business owed me to pay for another contractor to pass the inspection. I hope his insurance premium went up because it is not fair the state to pay for his unfinished business.

I contacted the business owner, Jose Ramos, in the end of Feb, 2020 to rebuild the back stairway per request of the building department. Mr. Ramos started and finished the job in the beginning of March. He asked me to pay additional $3000 for the second floor deck, which was never requested by the building department. He said the deck needed to be fixed so the construction could pass the inspection. However, the inspector never mentioned anything about the deck in our 4-5 conversations. The permit was never issued in April. I called the building department and was told that Ramos never replied the email to submit blueprint. He finally submitted the hand drawing plan in May but got rejected by the inspector being lack of details of measurements. At this point, he refused to continue the job stating he was done with the work despite he never passed the inspection. He refused to return my calls and text messages. I had to drive to his residence to speak to him. He agreed to finish the plan and pass the inspection. His plan was finally accepted in May, but he failed the inspection in June. He went to vacation in July but failed the inspection the second time in the middle of August. He told me he would make corrections according to the inspector after he finished another job in September. He delayed me for another 6 weeks to tell me he won't continue this job on Oct 1. Now it is already 7 months passed after he took my money for the project. The tenants I am evicting has stayed free in the house this entire time. Ramos took my money and he should deliver quality of work to pass inspection as he promised when I signed the contract with him. He made mistake on riser measurements. This contractor took 7 months to not be able to fix a job another contractor finished in a week. Please wait for my attorney's letter.

Can't say enough good things about this team. On time, efficient, clean, and reliable. Went above and beyond with our deck repair while staying within our budget. We had a last minute change, he made a few calls and made it happen. Would not hesitate to use again!!!

Edit* to the response...the frustration lies with the fact that we were told it's something you could do. The fact is you came out to measure and then after a over a week of not responding you told us you were too busy. That tells us you prioritized higher paying jobs which is your right as a business owner. That being said if you were that busy prior to measuring why not just tell us from the begining? Instead you have us wait with a hole in our foundation. Your work is great which is why I left the original comments, but, the way you handled this project left us stuck and feeling as though our project just wasn't worth your time.

My family had a pool contractor abandon our project, which included plans for a 16 x 12 composite deck. Jose was very responsive with examining the site and providing a very reasonable quote. He was able to secure materials when others did not make the effort and completed the project in only four business days. Jose and his team worked incredibly hard and were impeccable with the installation. Jose did not compromise any step of the process and made sure footings, framing, decking and railings were all flawless. Jose is the rare contractor who operates with integrity and transparency. Do not hesitate to contact Jose and his team for any project.

Where do I begin to express my extreme satisfaction with the job Jose and his team did with assembling my shed. I did not realize that the platform I had installed previously was so uneven nothing could be mounted on it let alone a large shed. Jose took the time and effort to level the platform so my shed would sit properly. He also built me a beautiful wooden foundation of which was extra work on his part. You can see that Jose enjoys what he does. He and his team went above and beyond professional, courteous and respectful. I cannot say enough great things about someone who truly takes pride in his work and completes a job as if he were doing it for a family member. His attention to detail is unremarkable and his belief in being punctual is refreshing. These great qualities are apparent in his team members as well. I cannot wait for them to complete my next project. I only wish there were more than 5 stars to reward Jose and his team. I would definitely without any hesitation recommend Jose and his team for any job, big or small. Once you do, just sit back and enjoy the ride. I did.

Our basement flooded on New Year’s Eve!!! Not a great way to start the year! We panicked! We called Servpro and our journey began.....
My husband began asking around for a contractor. We had many come by for estimates. I have three young kids.. Moms you know how terrifying the thought of strangers in and out of your house all day is.. I was a mess.... I stayed upstairs eaves dropping for most of them. I was worried... no one felt right... then we came across Jose and his team... good reviews .... but I don’t always trust reviews... so we meet...
Jose came in discussed our options helped us redesign and gave us a quote...okay fine that’s protocol... what wasn’t protocol to me was the way he knew I was afraid of having people in the house. The way he showed me pictures of houses his team had completed. (Which where gorgeous) the way he calmed me . Explaining all his crew where background checked and trusted. Didn’t hurt some pictures where from his pastors house but I digress. Still mom radar always on.
Work begins I am uncomfortable. I am not used to people in the house . I have three kids I feel like my house is a mess(it was). Our stuff is displaced from the basement all over the house! The crew begins. I meet the guys they immediately make me feel at ease! . fast forward three weeks (all other estimates said at least 6 weeks) and I was not only in love with my basement but they where finished and I was going to miss them!!!
The entire work time they where respectful hardworking and overall kind! Hard to find these days... my basement is no doubt the best room in my house now. So if you are looking for a review on the work this is your team! If you are a mom who is scared to death of strangers in your house with your kids then this definitely is your team! Having that piece of mind after the first few days was priceless!

We just had a complete deck rebuild and we couldnt be happier, what an enjoyable experience overall! Jose is very responsive, we had our quote the same day. The project started on time and was finished on time. Its very clear they are passionate about what they do and the quality of their work and attention to detail is amazing! My hot water heater blew and flooded my basement on New Years Day. My entire basement needed to be gutted and remodeled. I called and got 5 different quotes from contractors. There was NO question I was going with Jose and County Home Improvements. He came with great reviews, he knew his craft and was 100% dedicated to give us what we wanted. I have a wife and 3 small kids and we were very careful about choosing someone that we felt we could trust in our house during the remodeling process. Again, no question that we could trust Jose. This is a mailbox assembly and post mounting job. Jose and his partner, Mike, did very good job to restore our broken mailbox and post.

We had a complete bath remodel, second bath re tile & basement did demo and installed new walls. Excellent craftsmanship, neat and tidy during the renovation.
