Convertible Top Guys

I bought a tan Haartz Stayfast canvas top with optional rear glass for my 1991 Honda Beat. It arrived on the early side of their delivery estimate, and the top is of good quality. It has been installed for a few months now, and I am very pleased. Be aware that my unit did not come with installation instructions, but I did figure it out. No pre-drilled or punched holes for mounting, but during installation it became clear that was intentional and necessary to get a custom fit. I will use them again.

My first review was a knee jerk reaction.. after rethinking the whole thing and having a civil conversation with the owner I an satisfied with the customer service. I do recommend CTG's for parts and advice.

Long story short, I order from from large suppliers so I can bank on their professionalism and experience. This company gave me poor information to identify a top, resulting in me confirming an order for the wrong top. I worked 20 extra hours installing it, and figured I could call them and work something out with them in terms of compensation as we both share the blame for the order.
Kevin, the company owner, refused to work with me or even throw me a bone. I don't believe he even apologized, instead he blamed me for requesting a Robbins top and said its my fault since I didn't do research (isn't that why we order from these companies...to save us from doing finite research?)
My order before this one was missing KEY pieces for completion that I had to order elsewhere. Kevin is stressed over the state of the company resulting in him eventually hanging up on me during our recent conversation.
Steer clear of this sinking ship, no sense in ordering here since you need to do your own research on everything anyways.

Horrible horrible company. Rude customer service. Allowed me to order a top for a customer when it wasn't in stock and they wouldn't have it for at least three and a half months. No email no call. Thank God the customer understands that there are people like this out there and didn't blame me.

Put simply this is not a service shop but a parts manufacturer and dealer. You cannot show up and expect to have your order fulfilled. Use the website and if picking up use the (check/money order) selection and wait for a confirmation call to tell you your order is ready. Bought the top in advance for a project, pulled it out of the box a year later and the fitment is not even close. We were told that 30 days after sale the top cannot be returned, so here I am writing this review. How you can have a "warranty for five years against defects in workmanship" and a 30 day return policy is beyond me.

I spoke with these guys about a project that I was working on. And though it was for a specific make or model automobile, they were friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful.

You should check them out for all your convertible top needs. They Do Not install tops but have every part imaginable for almost every rag top ever built.

I thought I was buying a package with everything needed to install the convertible top on my car. I ordered the Hartz Cloth Top by Kee, it is excellent looking but had incorrect markings for the Window side quarter Tack Strip locations. The instructions they sent were not for my car So I had to improvise a lot because it had no info about the most important points of where to start for proper finished fitment, only basic info on the obvious. When I asked their tech support how to determine how much to stretch the top at the front, they did not know. The Glue they included to hold the tack strip in the rear Bow was Vinly glue and would not work, went to Industrial finishes for the correct Glue. The Staples they sent for the Staple gun were the wrong size, got the right ones at my local Hardware store, could have bought the gun there too and would have matched. Happy with the results but I spent three weeks getting it on right. I would rate them lower stars but am very happy with the Hartz Cloth and Glass window. - Warning - I think you need to know more than these guys will tell you to install a convertible top correctly.

Put top on and too tight. Gap on both sides where material doesn't cover by small rear windows. Can't open roof as it's so tight i can only get it to latch on the front by loosening off rear nuts. Ridiculous . Waste of time and money. Should of bought from California company. I think the top was wrong one for a 06 sebring. Top probably for newer 08 and on model.

Top kit came promptly and it fit well with no wrinkles but it is very low quality . The stitching is poor. And the binding is weavy. The frame pads were universal and way too wide and I had to re make the rear pads to be usable . And they didn't match the inside top material. Looks horrible . The d.o.t stamp on window was so low it is 2/3 hidden in the belt line. Which is a legal issue . I saved 35 dollars or so . But it cost me about 2 hrs labor. This company is definitely geared tords diy ers .Who don't know what a quality top should be .Not thrilled!!!

I purchased a top from the "Convertible Top Guys"and had it installed by a professional but it will not fold down properly. I contacted the convertible top guys twice before I got a response. they asked for more info and I have never received another communication. I cannot open my convertible top and enjoy my car.

The new top for my RX7 looks great. The instructions they sent made the job 100% easier. Wonderful customer service and great products.
