I've held back on posting this for as long as I've could. We wanted to leave something higher but this has gone on long enough without anyone taking responsibility. We closed on our house 2 months ago and the quality of the house itself is good.
Upon the starting of the process, we were told that there would be monthly meetings with the construction manager to get updates on how things were going - I assume also to get an idea on when things needed to start getting done for the financing of it. There was never one meeting. We made our peace with it though.
The biggest issue from our side of it is the lack of any type of landscaping. Moving into a newly-built house, most would either expect something for a yard either when you move in, or close there after. In fact,, we were told by the construction manager on the day of closing that our yard would be completed either that week or the following.. Again, 2 months later and rock, dirt, and clay. We cannot make our peace with this. We got tired of waiting enough to get a hold of outside contractors to do the work so we could just get it done and figure out the financial aspect of it (as it is included with the price of the house) afterwards.
One day out of the blue, they came and leveled the property. We though - "without any type of heads up, at least they did it. Hopefully the seed, straw, and sod won't take another 8 weeks". Thankfully we didn't have to pay the contractor that was supposed to come literally the day after they came.
It's 2021, and the housing market has exploded as well as new construction housing. That said, we were told that we were number 38 to have our yard finished. 38!!! And yet, "they aren't behind"? There are literally families that have been moved into their houses since December here that do not have a yard. We understand that there are many projects going on all at the same time, and that weather plays a part in the ability to work on the grounds. However, hearing the same old song and dance wore out a long time ago.
The last thing that I hope the company gets after reading this is please have the crews do a bit of a better job cleaning the roads after they're done for the day. The crews themselves work hard and we see it everyday. Kudos to them as they literally move from one house to the next. However, both vehicles have had nails in tires within the span of 1 week. We both knew that nothing would be done about it as soon (from the point of view from the builders/CMS) as both instances took place. Spending $400 on 2 tires in 1 week is something nobody would enjoy.
That said, if you looking for a good quality HOUSE, then this isn't a bad company. However, we expected a little more than what we got (in a variety of ways) at the end of the day.
