Melvin and his team did an amazing job! We would highly recommend them for any job you may have!! They replaced our huge bay window in the front, our dining room window and the ceiling in a bedroom! Clark Contractors does an outstanding job very professionally. They do decks, roofing, windows and all sorts of general contracting. The work they did for us was better than any contractor I’ve ever worked with. They are smart, creative, reliable, friendly, great communicators and dedicated. As you know, this isn’t easy to be all these things and many contractors do not live up to all these standards. However, Clark Contractors has it all! 100% recommend Clark contractors to anyone who has a project to be done and done right! Have hired many contractors over the years and it is so hard to find the combination of fair pricing, superior workmanship and honesty. Melvin and Carlos are a hidden gem. I was hesitant to write a review and create competition with everyone else to get my projects done. Obviously I plan to hire them again!
We gave them a small kitchen refresh project that they priced competitively. My wife and I are completely satisfied with everything they did, but where the exceptional part comes in is the amount of time they took working with us to make sure the design was right. Like most projects things change and they were happy to change things on the fly and it didn’t bother them one bit. They gave us a great feeling the entire time that at the end of the day they just wanted to make sure we loved it, and we do. Carlos is a perfectionist and was adjusting things we didn’t even discuss because it didn’t flow correctly. Seriously how many people you find in this field that would do that, very far and few if you are lucky. They were always on the job site never just dropped off workers and left which I love, ensuring a quality finish. If you have a project, I would not hesitate to have them come and estimate it out. You will get a good sense of comfort the moment you speak with Melvin and deal with Carlos. I am so confident in them I can’t wait to start my full bathroom remodel in the spring. I honestly can go on and on about how great things went, but I think by now you get the point, pick up the phone and call them if you have that project done and have not found the right people. They are the right people.

Melvin and his team were hired during a difficult closing process. Long and short, we as the seller needed to replace a deck in order to meet code requirements (previous owners seemed to have DIY'd it). The deck needed to be replaced in less than two weeks from the point of us seeking a contractor.

Melvin and his team replaced the deck in a matter of 2 full days, from start to finish. They were well ahead of schedule, delivered quality work, were a pleasure to deal with, and were very tidy with their clean up. Not to mention, on his own accord, Melvin volunteered to meet with the inspector to make sure his team's work met the requirements and was personally able to address any lingering matters.

If we weren't moving out of state, Melvin would be our go-to for all general contracting work. His team provides a level of professionalism that you don't typically see in the SMB construction industry.

Melvin, Carlos and their team replaced my 19 year old leaky water heater. Their team arrived around 4pm, worked painstakingly in a tiny area until 9:30pm. Although they had already done a whole day’s work at another job, Carlos still worked conscientiously and took care to do the job right. They were honest, very professional, left the area clean afterward. What set Clark Contractors apart from the rest is Melvin has his customer’s interest in mind. He price shopped different vendors to get better price and warranty for us. Their price was the most competitive.

We are very pleased with the work they did. We needed new gutters and they came as promised and worked fast. Their service was amazing and the team was really honest and friendly and answered every question we had. We definitely recommend them and will use them again in the future.

Clark Contractors build a bungalow from a part of a roten garage in the backyard and fixed four basement windows. They gave us advice on how they would complete the project while they listened to what we wanted to come to 100% calibration. The workers came early to work under extreme heat and the pricing was incredibly fair for what we asked.

Had Clark builders at the house to add solar powered exhaust fans. Very knowledgeable with the installation. Quick and clean. I highly recommend them!

Melvin and his crew exceeded my expectations. They came for a day of odds and ends work for a house I've lived in for a year (long enough to find the real issues ;-) ). They didn't just do what I wanted, they solved problems I didn't know I had. They had a tick list for the day, and added to it, came early, stayed late, got the job done. He asks for a fair rate and I'm happy to pay it because he overdelivers. He has a smile on his face all day long, he clearly loves what he does. The team works clean, SMART, they get the job done RIGHT. Everything you'd want in a construction partner. I look forward to many more projects together. Great guy, fantastic work. My husband and I hired Melvin to add a master bath to our home. There was only a room to work with - all the plumbing was on the other side of the house. He did a beautiful job transforming the space into a great bathroom. We added many projects along the way - all new wiring throughout the house, insulation, Sheetrock, hardwired smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, painting throughout… every step of the way Melvin was wonderful to work with and so was his crew. Hardworking, diligent , and reasonably-priced. Melvin is also incredibly responsive - he quickly responds to my texts or picks up my calls promptly. He is always friendly and patient, even in stressful situations. Melvin is just a really good guy, and so is his brother - we consider them both friends now and will continue to hire them for our home projects. Next up - painting the outside!

Clark Contracting was referred to me by some Montclair residents for whom he renovated baths. I’m a realtor and my seller client needed a quick bath renovation. At the same time, I needed one myself! The priority was my client who was preparing for sale. Melvin prepped my bath while he was in the midst of renovating my clients. Both baths came out great! I
Had a small bath and it was a bit of a challenge. It came out great as did my clients… whose was done fast enough to make it to the market as planned! I have since referred Clark Contracting to other clients who had a variety of work done and were similarly pleased. Melvin’s crew was great too!
