No complaints! Five stars!
CFaC made promises and they kept them all. Service from consultation to maintenance and repair to installation of an insert, was professional, courteous, and timely. They answered all our questions about our existing fireplace and took the time to help us select what fireplace insert was right for our home. The original fireplace hadn't been used in decades so winter holidays in this old house haven't been this cozy in a long time. Thanks, CFaC.

Unfortunately 0 stars is not an option, call these guys if you want thousands of dollars worth of unnecessary work done.

Had a house listed for sale that had a Duravent Triple wall chimney system professionally installed.

The house inspection was done and passed, VA Appraiser inspected and passed, all things were about to close but the potential first time home buyer wanted the peace of mind to have it inspected by a ‘professional’.

These guys came out and tried to claim the chimney system was installed ‘upside down’, seriously? The triple wall is supposed to be inside the house?

This obviously was as an egregious attempt at drumming up business and affecting repairs that are not needed.

Needless to say the deal was scuttled and the potential first time home buyers are out thousands of $$ on the appraisals and inspections they had paid for.

I advised them to take legal action to try to recoup their losses.

Oh, and by the way… Swims & Sweeps came out and cleaned, inspected, and certified it safe for $300.

Edit: in response to the owners comment. I was never offered anything under 5k I have the emails to prove it. Also if you were aware he had clients it is your responsibility as a owner to reach out to those clients and inform them of a delay. Also the fix that i received from another company is permanent so that still doesn't explain the fact that you are still 3 to 5k overpriced. So nice try. Have a great day!

Very over priced. They act like they listen to your concerns but in their responses you can quickly tell they could care less. They wanted 7k to complete the job which was out of my budget. Tried messaging them about a payment plan but they stopped responding so I went with another company that was able to complete the job the next day for only 2.5k a considerable difference for the same work.
Most definitely need to work on your pricing, communication and your listening skills

Very pleased with the fireplace inserts and the installation. The installers were very professional and efficient and tidy. Stayed on task and were able to complete a job scheduled for two days in one day. Will definitely be using Certified Fireplace and Chimney for the upgrade on our other fireplace.

These are the BEST people to take care of your wood burning appliances! Peyton and Reed were here today and were so knowledgeable and conscientious and considerate. They really know what they are doing. They took their time and were very diligent in their work. I have done business with this company for 7 years, and I am extremely pleased with them. CFAC was a great company to work with. We recently purchased our home here in Topeka, and we didn't exactly know what the condition of the fireplace was. They were able to fit us into their schedule quickly, which was awesome. Everyone we worked with was very professional and courteous. From phone conversations scheduling the service to the technician coming to our house to compete the job.

Reed came out to inspect both our fireplaces. After inspecting them he determined that they needed to be cleaned and gave them both a good cleaning. He emailed me a report on the fireplaces and chimney while he was still here which included several pictures and explanation of what he found along with recommendations for a few repairs. He did such an excellent job covering our rugs and mantle, you can’t even tell that he was here! We were worried about the condition of our chimney and now we have peace of mind.

They are very helpful and more than happy to answer questions or even come out and show you what you are doing wrong when you are a first time fireplace insert user.

CFAC is a local company, very familiar with the area and all of the state and local codes. Reed came out within a week of making the appointment and did a complete and thorough inspection. He gave me an honest assessment what needed to be addressed if I wanted to use my fireplace as well as what could wait a few years. At no time did he push upgrades and services, but I definitely plan to convert my current wood-burning fireplace to an electric one with Certified Fireplace and Chimney.

I have had two woodstoves installed by these experts. On one of them, they skillfully ran the chimney through the ceiling to the next foot via a beautiful grate, then out the roof. This cleaver way allows us to heat two stories. And they clean them every year. Very highly recommend!

The fireplace is beautiful and works well. But it is not completely done. Waiting on correct size of hearthstone to be installed. The workers were great. They had to deal with a extreme weather conditions and the dust from cutting the stone and finishing the sheet rock. Even with the barrier wall that was put in place there was an overwhelming amount of dust that went everywhere in the house. They did all they could to contain it. I have spend a great deal of time cleaning up everything the dust fell on to. Basically top to bottom of all furniture and surfaces. Still in the process of cleaning. Changed thr furnace filter that was completely full.

Reed came to our home to do assessment of our non-working gas fireplace after having just purchased our home. He was knowledgeable, informative and made sure we understood. He was respectful to not only us but to our home while inspecting fireplace, logs, flue and wearing shoes covers everyone he entered house. The was no need for another quote. We were so impressed and made our decision that visit for our new fireplace. Highly recommend CFAC
UPDATE: On 1/24/24, Kyle and Tim came and removed old gas fireplace and installed the new one. About 6 hrs, start to finish, including adding the tubes to flue. Were careful to make sure they took care in their setting up ands clean-up. Highly recommend. LOVE LOVE our new fireplace.

If I could give no stars I would!! The technician that was sent out was clueless. He spent 2 hours here and was not confident in his findings. We are getting a second opinion because he said that it's a valve issue and that they'd need to replace it all, costing $1301. I have him on our security cameras even looking all confused spending 75% of the time making call after call. I called to voice my concerns and the owner or manager really showed little to no concern. The day after I spoke with him we noticed that the technician clearly thought it was soot in our gas fireplace that has fake wood in it and proceeded to scratch off the black paint inside of the fireplace thinking it needed cleaned. He never once said anything about it while he was here.We are furious that this is how our fireplace was left. Don't use this company.

Horrible!! Never recommend. Came to our house and had to pay $250 to service, fix, etc but nothing was done. No service completed, told we had wasp nests but it’s another $150 to clean those out. They had no idea why it wasn’t working. 7 days later sent us an invoice for $2800 if we wanted to fix it, even though they didn’t know what was wrong with it. Swims and sweeps came out today, 1 hr later our fire place is working, wasp nest cleaned out and only paid $175. Wish we would have started there. Certified fireplace is obviously not certified to fix anything

Do NOT use CFAC!! Call Swims and Sweeps instead!! We have a propane fed fireplace that hadn't been used for over ten years and called CFAC come out to try and fix it. The technician was here for nearly two hours and accomplished nothing. He wouldn't even clean the flume that had an old mud dabbers nest in it. Their technician was not competent whatsoever. They said we needed a new part that would cost $2800 along with the labor. The "inspection" cost me $250 and they left with nothing accomplished.
I called Swims and Sweeps here locally and their charge was &175 and they got it fixed along with cleaning the flume. They said the line to the pilot orifice was clogged and all they had to do was clean it out. Our fireplace works great thanks to Swims and Sweeps. Do NOT use CFAP!!

I need to have my fireplace inspected for my foster care license. Sam from Certified Fireplace and Chimney came out to my house and was able to inspect the fire place and I had it cleaned as well. We got our wood burning stove from CFAC and they installed it. We were worried it wasn’t going to be done before our family thanksgiving but they got it all in and ready to go before thanksgiving even on short notice. It’s so warm and cozy and really brings the whole home together. It has helped tremendously on reducing our propane usage over the winter. I love it!

In a Serendipitous Moment of Spontaneity, during a quick stop by McDonald’s, the sign on Certified Fireplace and Chimney drew me in! My husband and I had just recently discussed how we needed to find someone to inspect our chimney and fireplaces. Don’t mess around… Get these guys. We had a chimney rebuild bid out by four companies. 2 said it was impossible.. 1 said it could be done but it would take 4 crews and $50,000. These guys came in.. knew what they were doing… and had us up and running in 3 days… for half the price

In February 2022, our fireplace had a flue fire which rendered it unsafe to use.

The remedy for this issue included the removal of the old fireplace and flue. A new high efficiency wood burning fireplace, gas log lighter, and flue system were installed. Ryan, Sam, Tony, and Kiel were part of the renovation crew. I became one of the team because we had to work together to complete the work. It was an enormous job!

I now have an absolutely gorgeous fireplace!

I called Sam for a routine cleaning for our fireplace, when doing the cleaning Sam found a major problem concerning our fireplace. The insurance company called another company out to get their opinion, unfortunately that company did not find any problems. Sam was adamant and he proved to the insurance company and their engineer that there was damage to the fireplace that needed fixed.I am so thankful we called Sam first, our house could have easily caught on fire, and I may not be here to write this review. Thank you Sam and your wonderful crew!

UPDATED 28 Feb 2024: Reed, their technician was able to quickly determine and solve a particular issue we had with our unit. From initial contact to resolution was well under 24 hours. Very happy with both the staff and their performance!

INSTALLATION: Both Tony and Kiel were fantastic - they are exceptionally skilled designers, artisans and craftsmen and we are incredibly pleased with the work they produced. Sam, the owner of Certified Fireplace & Chimney, worked with us directly on every aspect of the project and followed the progress through to completion - he even helped heft the unit into position!

These guys are the real deal - fair, knowledgeable, amiable and creative. We highly endorse and recommend them for any fireplace or wood stove project you may be considering.

I only have the best to say about Certified Fireplace and Chimney. I am a Manhattan resident and they took spectacular care of me. We had chimney damage from general aging and tornado winds The fireplace was unusable and not up to code while also being absolutely dated looking. Basically - everything needed fixing and updating.

Sam came by to take a look at the damage and quote for chimney fixing, fireplace upgrading, and fireplace remodeling. He understood my design ideas which just consisted of a bunch of adjectives: simple, clean, and minimalist and he really brought my vision to life. I put my full trust in him because everything he showed me, I was 100% on board with. He was very flexible with doing gas/wood - in the end we decided to stay wood burning.

Sam communicated with us about all delays for materials, and once everything arrived to their desired quality - we booked a time. The workers consisted of Tony and Kiel and they did an outstanding job. Besides their professionalism, they were incredibly respectful, hardworking, and kind. They communicated with me and answered any questions I had. They were truly artists in their craft and I am grateful they were the ones taking care of the remodel! Thank you!

Sam and Taryn were very helpful and informative. Both were respectful of my home inside and out. Sam showed me on his camera the issues that needed to be addressed, and showed me that inside the chimney was in great condition. This company is definitely customer service oriented. Whenever I had a question or concern or needed more information, I got an immediate response. Reed was very patient and thorough in his assessment of what needed to be done. I had a gas fireplace taken out and electric insert put in. The installers Sean and Aleck we’re excellent. I had a small problem after the installation and they came out without any question and fixed it. I highly recommend this company.

We had a gas fireplace insert with a basic mantle. But we wanted to convert it to a wood burning fireplace, with stone framing it in. Certified Fireplace & Chimney did a great job bringing our vision to life. They were in & out within 3-4 days. They pay great attention to detail & they were very protective of our hard wood floors. The senior technician, Sam B., went above and beyond to meet with my home insurance adjuster to explain the nature of flu fires and the necessity to replace my fireplace when my insurance company initially attempted to deny the claim. The work crew promptly arrived as planned and efficiently worked to remove the old fireplace and install a new unit. The crew was courteous and ensured the work space was sealed and thoroughly cleaned when the work was completed. The office administrators always promptly responded to any questions with courtesy and integrity. Comminucation with the office was seamless thanks to utilizing text, phone calls, and emails when submitting receipts for insurance claims. The Dec. 15 high wind event across Kansas (Topeka area included) blew the rain cap off our chimney. The rain cap had one corner bent, but was otherwise undamaged. I had installed the cap myself 20 years ago, but
now, being in my early 70s (and not fond of climbing up on the roof) I was looking for a chimney repair person. We live a few miles northeast
of Topeka, so when I found "Certified Fireplace and Chimney" in north Topeka, I called them. I made an appointment with Sam for the 25th of January. He showed up, on time, at 915am (when the temperature was in the middle teens) and had the rain cap back on the chimney in 10-15 minutes. I was ready to pay him when he came to door, but he said
"no charge, it was an easy fix". Anyway, if I ever need a chimney repair in the future, I will be calling "Certified Fireplace and Chimney"!

I am beyond thrilled with our new fireplace doors!! Ryan, Sam, Reed, Carly and all the other workers [sorry - don't have your names] went over the top to fabricate and install gorgeous doors that blend seamlessly into our MCM home. Ryan and Reed, especially, worked tirelessly to make sure that every detail was perfect - not simple given the complexity of the fireplace. I could not be happier with their work and with how my fireplace looks. They protected the work area carefully and cleaned up thoroughly each day and at the end of the job. I recommend them without reservation!!

I highly recommend Certified Fireplace and Chimney! I had an outdated 1998 large brick fireplace with a non-functioning insert. I was ready for a working fireplace AND a major facelift to the room. Sam came out for a consultation and then helped with different mock-ups of tile, mantel, and media material until I was satisfied. I was then promptly booked for my remodel! Ryan, Sean, Reed, and RJ were professional, courteous, timely and tidy. Great care was taken to cover my furniture and protect my flooring, and every night all materials were cleaned up and put away. The demo and remodel was completed in 3 days, as promised. I am in love with my new fireplace. It screams 2021 and not 1998! It is gorgeous!

RJ & Shawn did a great job with installing our refurbished wood burning insert. We needed a chimney liner installed and modifications to our existing firebox. They were professional and did a great job protecting our home and cleaning up afterwards. We look forward to many years of reliable heat from this unit.

These folks were so great to work with! They explained everything clearly so that I could understand what was needed, and even took plenty of pictures so that I could see what was being done. We added a gas-lit wood burning fireplace where there was none to our rural farmhouse. Certified Fireplace and Chimney surveyed our home, heard what we wanted, and worked with us to get the stone we were looking for and design something that delivered what we wanted. They showed up on time and went from no fireplace or chimney to finished project in two weeks. I couldn't imagine the job could be done that quickly!

The work was exceptional. They did a great job. Very detail oriented, professional, and high quality. Couldn't say enough about how great this turned out. And it looks like it's been in our 80 year old renovated home forever--which was the goal. No we are looking forward to winter to be able to really enjoy it!

Our old fireplace was 20 years old and not working .
Ryan inspected and found the old unit could not be repaired, no parts available.
Ryan showed my wife and me what was available in today's market .
We feel in love with a some options he showed us.
Found out later, in the tear out of the old unit that it was not installed
properly and was actually very unsafe, it could have started a fire.
We love our new fire place.
Ryan worked with us and was very helped with giving us options, materials and design ideas for the fire place.
Having the new fireplace , we now have a new look and have added new life to our great room.

We love our refinished fireplace and insert. Ryan is very knowledgable, creative, and professional. He helped us with design elements that were perfect for us when we were a bit vague about what we wanted. He showed us a dangerous feature of the old fireplace, when he inspected it, and has made the remodel safe for wood burning. We are confident in his expertise, workmanship, his company. We wish they would have done more to confine the dust to the work area, but we highly recommend Certified Fireplace and Chimney.

Everyone working at Certified Fireplace and Chimney were amazing! Carly was always quick to respond to any questions that I had and Ryan was very informative at the time of my fireplace assessment. We had to reschedule due to the severe ice storm but it was comforting knowing that they put their employees safety as a priority!
