Went to see the house they are building us. Allen Guinn was so nice to escort us, answer all our questions and show us a model our son and daughter in law are interested in. All employees working were so nice and friendly! Craftmanship seems to be above what we expected. Thank you Nationwide! Excited to move into our home in a few more months!

May 2025, a tile cracked during transition and the gentleman just left after replacing it. They were quick to call us and send this nice mannered young man the next day! Wouldn’t hesitate to buy from this company again.

Purchased a Nationwide home through Custom Smart Homes about 6 years ago and to date we're still having to hire contractors to fix things that were bad from the manufacturer ( and some that the builder refused to do)! The latest was the roofing, it just started coming undone because the roofers at the plant had no idea as to properly installing shingles. Some had only 1 nail, some 3, but almost every nail was driven deep into the shingle!!! There were many more roof problems, bottom line is I am having the whole roof replaced AT MY EXPENSE OF $14,300.00!!
Also had a contractor install two additional support beams in the crawlspace due to bad floor deflection! O! The siding blows off at least twice a year!!!

STAY AWAY FROM CUSTOM SMART HOMES and anyone selling NATIONWIDE HOMES!!!!

We came a day early but so grateful they worked us in. We helped unload and everyone was very considerate and respectful. I have to sing their praises because it's very rare that everyone in a company we deliver to are nice and respectful of drivers time. Awesome place.

If you want to build a house that is going to fall apart before you move in Nationwide is the Manufacturer to go with. I could go on for days with my review but I’ll let the pictures do the talking for the most part. I will say this though, Nationwide is terrible as well as the upper management such as the warranty claims representative Sean O’Leary and his direct manager. They are impossible to get a hold of and never do what they say they are going to do. Most of the issues in the images were fixed but not properly and when I brought it to the attention of the warranty rep he said “repairs were already made” so it’s my problem now and that it’s normal for doors not to stay shut unless they are dead bolted and the caulk is supposed to be peeling away from the tile in my shower which was leaking before we moved in which nationwide knew about and purposely ignored. So bottom line is if you want your house building process to be more of a headache Nationwide is the company to pick for the process. In the images below you will see crack in the drywall from windows and doors not being properly installed. There is duct tape and screws through the duct tape holding together my exhaust vent for my kitchen, siding is warped in the entire back of the house, they damaged the roof that I paid another company to install because we wanted metal, crown molding and trim separating from the walls and so much more.

All staff members at the Martinsville, VA showroom were extremely helpful and provided a comprehensive tour of 3 model homes. We browsed the showroom which contained a display of flooring, tile, and cabinet options. Great selection and nice model homes. Will provide another review if we purchase.

The lady I talked with was regarding a job application. She seemed to try to be helpful, but I couldn't help feel like she was just trying to get me off the phone as quick as she could. She had gotten to my job application and done everything on her side fairly quick and told me she would be in touch if something opened up.

No customer service. They will not znswer or return my calls. I'm moved into my home. The subfloor in my masterbedroom stinks. The smell is soaked into the osb subfloor. There dealer I bought threw pulled the catpet up and they sealed the wood with an odor primer. It did not work. Now the room stinks and you can't walk inthere because the floor spinteres so bad and the smell will get on your fe3or socks. Now the factory is telling them they authorize them to replace the insulation underneath the house..... it's not a smell coming up the cracks of the floor it's in the wood. You touch the wood and your hand stinks. I was told by the once person soo answered the phone that I need to speak with Dean Steel but he will not answer or retirn my calls. Maybe someone could let him know to call me. Btw I didn't just buy a small doublewide. Our house was $252,000. That might not be a lot of money to some but to me that's a lot. Or atleast enough for my bedroom not to stink.

4. What is the typical roof leak repair cost, and how is it calculated?

Service questions
1. Should I stay home during roof replacement?
+-

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
