We’re new homeowners and knew we needed roof work done but we’re unsure of the nuances of a slate roof. We had a couple people come out and give us estimates and they were all EXTREMELY high. When I asked these pervious companies about what can wait I was told “We can’t tell you that” and “That’s your decision”. I’m no roofer so I’m unsure of what’s a priority. Ben Canoles was recommended to me from a friend who had used him. He came out within days (I had to wait about 2 weeks for the other people) and did a thorough inspection of our roof. He broke down EVERYTHING that needed to be done and why. He also explained some things about our specific type of slate that we didn’t realize. He sent over an estimate within days (got one 10 days after the previous companies came out). When I asked him what is priority, what can wait, and how can we cut costs he gave great suggestions and was honest about what needed to be done. I trust his professional opinion and his crew. When it came to getting the work done they were on time, cleaned up after themselves, were respectful and kind. Ben checked in with us basically everyday on what was going on and when the work would be completed. The crew always closed the gates for our dogs which is much appreciated and cleaned up after themselves everyday. We will definitely have them as our forever roofers and to do our annual check up. I could not have asked for a better experience than I had with Ben Canoles and his team. Ben worked tirelessly to find just the right material to use to replace our clay tile roof. Top notch roof installation, great carpentry, and excellent communication. Owner Ben Canoles explained how and why an odd overhanging part of our roof needed to be rebuilt, with photos so we could understand. He built it back stronger using some innovations in materials and carpentry. It was a pleasure to work with Ben and his entire crew, who left our place spotless.
