Seven years ago, my wife and I had Black Platinum install solar panels on our roof and we couldn't have been more pleased with their work, so when we needed help with an existing EV charger and what we thought would be a necessary upgrade of our electrical panel, we called them again. Jose came out to our house, looked at our existing equipment, and rather amazingly told us that we didn't need to do anything -- that we already had the necessary electrical capacity to charge up our car. What I thought would be a few thousand dollar rewiring job ended up costing us nothing. My wife and I can't thank Jose and Black Platinum enough. They are simply great.

Black Platinum Solar & Electric did an outstanding job installing Enphase solar and battery system. It was a distinct advantage that they are certified both for electrical contracting and solar installation, so there was no need to have subcontractors for the entire project. They upgraded our electrical system from 200 to 400 Amp service and replaced all of our breaker boxes which were necessary to install the solar and battery system that we specified. Black Platinum was not satisfied until everything was working perfectly. We are very happy with the performance of the system and our ability to go off grid entirely when needed without any interruption of any appliance in our house including our air conditioning heat pumps. I highly recommend Black Platinum and Enphase equipment. We evaluated many providers before choosing Black Platinum, and we were glad we did.

Their workmanship was excellent, their crew knowledgeable, experienced, and efficient, and the entire company is service-oriented. What a great company. Our install was a bit unique since it sat on top of unique shipping container home. I built a tilted steel structure above my flat roof for Black Platinum to attach their panels. Our roof is 16" of polystyrene and foam and I wanted no penetrations thru the foam.
The panels were installed on the substructure and nothing of the install touched the foam. There were no accidental penetrations made.
APS and the county gave approval and my system was turned on December 30th of 2022.
We've had zero issues and the first full year our settle up with APS was $0.07 which we promptly paid!
With this year's heat we're heading towards an APS bill of an estimated $50.
We're still pleased and two of our friends have used Black Platinum for their installation.
With the heat and APS rate increases I'm contemplating adding 3-4 additional panels.

Black Platinum did a great job for me!! They upgraded and extended my existing solor system by adding batteries, controllers, load-shedding boxes and other features to my existing solar panel. They did a great job of understanding what I had already installed and (IMPORTANT) they fixed some things from the original installation which only partially worked. I am VERY HAPPY with their work.

We had black platinum solor install a solar system on our home in Vistancia four years ago. They were great to work with, prompt, professional and the system has performed perfectly. I would not hesitate to use them again.

When the system install was completed, the APS inspector told me upon completion of his inspection that this was the first time he had ever seen a solar install that he didn't have to make any adjustments to. That said it all...I knew I had made the right choice. I can't recommend them highly enough.

We've had our system for about 3 years now. In that time, we had one issue with a panel. They came out within a week to test the panel. They discovered the panel itself had an issue and replaced it next day. Sometimes my system will stop communicating to the app, not a system issue, my wifi gets wonky at times. If I don't reset it in 48 hours, I get a little reminder from them. Our system is good, the pricing was fair, but really, the service and education is why we went with them. Very satisfied customer. I used Black Platinum to install my Lectron V-Pro WiFi app EV charger. They were great! Jose and Brian(sp?) spent a lot of time to do it right. My first charger didn’t work. They worked with the company to attempt to get it functioning . It turned out to be a defective unit. When the replacement arrived they came back and made sure it worked. I was very impressed with their work and how friendly they were. I have them in my contact for any future electrical work.

I won't ever be able to express my gratitude to this company and to Darien. After our hold Solar Company Erus went bankrupt, we were left with an incomplete project. Our loan officer connected us with a different company who semi got us to permission to operate. However, a solar panel was not functioning. They wanted to charge us a sustainable about of money to fix this solar panel (which i had the replacement for and it was under warranty). I called Darien and within minutes, he called me back. He was out that week to fix our solar panel. No hassle, no reschedules, no demanding a large sum to help. This company has been a dream to work with.

After noticing my solar input being cut in half, I attempted to reach out to the original installer from 2 years ago only to find they're out of business. So, I google a company near me with good reviews. The reviews don't lie, within 30 min Black Platinum was able to access my system and diagnose it was probably a connector or breaker and would be a quick fix. Sure enough, after 15 minutes on my roof everything was back up and producing.

Black Platinum Solar & Electric installed an EV Charger. Jose was great throughout the entire process. The estimate process was simple and Black Platinum installed it for what they said they would. I live in Payson. My solar system stopped working. My solar company is out of business. My heart was sinking - what do I do? Our usual electrician had heard good things about John Black. Not hoping for much, I called John. He did not close me for a several hundred an hour plus travel time appointment. He helped me fix my issue over the phone...for nothing. I was a victim ready to be taken. John chose to help me instead. Right out of the box, Black Platinum Solar gets five stars from me. I would give them more if I could. I suspect Black will be the answer to more folks than just me in this crazy, fluid world of solar.

What a wondaful experience. This is my first Google review ever and I felt John and Jose deserved the recognition for the job they did for me and my wife. Both were polite, friendly, prompt, accommodating, and just plan easy to chat with. Jose work ethic and desire for both quality work and customer satisfaction was 100% apparent. When my EV charger came in and didn't have the proper plug I thought it would have, John, and Jose found a way to come out within a couple says to fix my dilemma and get the charger installed and working. Jose even styed extra to make sure that I got the app working and our Mustang Mach E was charging before he left. I cannot say enough wonderful things about Black Platinum. We originally spoke to several solar companies. John at Black Platinum was by far the best product and the best install. Pricing was very competitive, and they explained every step of the contract and install. Wiring for the solar is run in the attic and through the walls, so no ugly conduit on the exterior. The crews arrived on time were extremely professional and courteous. John was instrumental in rectifying a few old permit issues with the city, that impacted permitting on the solar. All in all, a GREAT experience.

13 years ago I had solar installed at my house. They did an outstanding job but have since gone out of business . I reached out to many other solar installers for help with a warranty repair. We used Black Platinum after reviewing a bunch of different solar companies. All the big companies were just a flood of marketing fluff and big talk about capacity.
John and Black Platinum were the only company just to be straight up. No marketing fluff, just the facts. John and his team were professional, easy to reach and did a great job.
While the process took a super long time because of APS and the city, we finally got it going this week and between the app and APS it’s clear we didn’t need 40+ panels like some vendors recommended. Even with some cloudy days out production has been excellent.
Also worth noting the panels come with a really great service warranty of 25 years with parts and labor included.
If you’re going to go solar avoid all the companies that have fancy marketing and stick with the locals who might not be the cheapest but are certainly the best.

This company did an amazing job with my solar installation, from the first call to the time srp installed the meters. In fact the srp tech commented on how professional and clean the installation was. Highly recommend!

Black Platinum Solar and Electric recently completed the installation of a 26 PV panel system (no batteries). From the very first contact they were very informative and up front about all the intricacies of planning, permits, approvals and installation.
First Planning: David used the household electrical usage over the last year to size a system that would be acceptable to APS and a reasonable payback time. He provided three system configurations from which to choose. Next he brought up two very important considerations: The roof condition and bird block. Roof condition is important and will affect the solar installation warranty. Our roof underlayment was nearing the end-of-life with about 5 years remaining. After discussions with him and the roofing inspectors we decided to replace the underlayment. If we hadn't, in 5 or so years or any roof repairs, we would have had to remove the PV panels and rack system at a cost of $150 to $200 per panel. Bird block is automatically included in the estimate, and David did say they would remove it if we did not want it. However you'll want it. I helped a neighbor whose solar installer did not include bird block and its a messy, disgusting process to clean pigeons out.
Next Permits and Approvals: Don't let any solar installer tell you they get their city permits approved quicker than other installers. Black platinum was up front about how long each will take. However they didn't give the city or APS any reason to deny each application and though it took time for city approvals they went smoothly. This is so important when it comes time to turn the system on!
Finally Installation: One day to install PV Panels and one more for the service panel upgrade. Due to city permitting (structural and electrical) they were separate and the electrical work had to be scheduled with APS. This all went off without a hitch.
It is obvious to me that everyone at Black Platinum, from the first contact (David), the permits (Melia), scheduling (Darien), the installation crews, to the follow up after the system was turned on from the owner (John), everyone there knows their business well.

We got several estimates and recommendations and went with Black Platinum over all the others. Their communication was excellent, they showed up on time. worked hard and got the install done on time. They answered my questions and have been easy to work with and I would recommend them.

We just had a small solar array installed by Black Platinum and are very happy. Although we only wanted 11 panels we received the same top service that friends with twice as many panels received. The crew was especially professional as they completed the job in one day in spite of the temperature pushing 105 by the time they finished. Follow up has also been great. I would gladly recommend them.

I ended up doing a lot of research on solar systems in Arizona and was attracted to Black Platinum & Electric due to their being a family run business and not your "typical" solar company. They are very professional and responsive and I could tell from the start would be good to work with. There was no pushy sales talk and it was obvious they know the business.

Transparency was very important for me and Black Platinum were up front with a lot of detail and honesty in regards to pricing, what to expect and what I could get out of the system. The initial contract signing was easy, installation went well and the after install service level has been great.

Had Black Platinum Solar give me a quote for an additional 19 solar panels and a battery backup system. John Sr contacted me with a quote and we decided to use them for our install. I have to say we live in Payson so it was going to be a commute for them to do the work but I was assured it would not be an issue. From the moment we accepted the bid and signed the contract Black Platinum was nothing but professional! The design process took what seemed forever because the design team was going back and forth with APS for months. We would submit the design and it would get sent back but Black Platinum kept plowing through the process and we eventually got approved. Once that happened the crew was scheduled and they arrived on time and worked through the install for 3 days. Although we weren't able to finish but they were able to return in less than a week to get the install completed. I have to say the entire work crew was AWESOME! Everyone was courteous and Professional and I have ZERO complaints about this entire process....we have been signed off from the city of Payson and are now waiting for APS to install my meter to start using our new 30kw battery backup system!

The best solar in town and it's not even close. I got 17 other quote and was the the best one but that's not the reason I picked them.
1. The quality of solar panel and inverters. 2. The warranties of equipment 3. How long they been in business 4. Price and they were the best in all of them. From the highest to black platinum I got a 9.1 instead of 7.9, 25 year warranty instead of 20, micro inverters instead of string, lifetime monitoring instead of 5 years, and all that for 6k less. Sounds to good to be true but it's not.Every other company told me 8-12 week for total install and I got it done in 6 weeks. Christmas, new years, hoa approval, city approval, aps approval and final inspection in 6 weeks is amazing. The customer service is awesome. I could go on and on but I'll let you be the judge but atleast it's worth a call, John won't waste your time like the other companies.

Black Platinum Solar is a first rate solar company. I have waited a little over a year to review to make sure everything remained outstainding. Our installation was with LG 340 watt panels and Enphase IQ 7+ microinverters. John, the owner, took me through what I could expect during the installation, This included schedule, approval steps with the city and APS, why he sized the system the way he did and the need for a larger electric panel because we were essentially maxed out.

All of the scheduled steps were on time or even a little earlier than estimated. The installers were amazing and the physical installation ran like clockwork. All this from a 5-star company along with one of the beter prices we found from the 7 or 8 companies we researched.

Best equipment and best price from Black Platinum Solar.

John and his team installed an 18Kw system on our home in June 2018. We did our typical research and got 5 estimates from top rated solar installers. A lot of companies wanted to push leases which we felt were not in our best interest and don't make financial sense. John didn't even bring up a lease option and doesn't offer them for the same reasons. The difference which pushed us to go with Black Platinum was the quality of the equipment they use as well as John's personal attention. His price was competitive with the other companies we were considering, however, his equipment choices (LG Panels & Enphase micro inverters) were of a much higher quality than any other quote for the same price. Basically, more bang for your buck.

John worked with us throughout the entire process to ensure that we got the system that we needed. Having just moved into the home, we did not have any usage history to work with. John was patient and was able to accurately size the system based on very limited information. There was no sales pitch or any pressure from his end. He was the consummate professional and was more concerned with accuracy and honesty than making sure we went with his company.

The installation was fast and respectful. We have two young kids in the house and they were mindful to keep any areas inside clean and safe. The install took 4 days and John and his son (John) were present throughout. His crew is extremely professional, courteous and highly skilled at what they do. They have all been with John a long time and it showed. All of the wiring was run in the attic and walls so that nothing showed from the outside. His drywall repair guy was nothing short of amazing. You would never know that there was a patch except for our own lousy paint job (they used a closet so it doesn't really matter anyway). Overall, the install looks great and is functioning as designed thus far.

When APS delayed because of a panel question, John was the one who handled it and got the system live as quickly as possible. He was even going to absorb the cost of an upgraded panel if APS required it, since it was not part of his initial estimate. Luckily, he was able to avoid further delays and found a work around with APS.

We designed the system based upon the economics: ROI. Everything was on time and on budget, professionally done with direct personal attention to all details. "On time" means actually working on your roof the minute they said - not just showing up to get ready. Answering my email at 4:30 AM - sure. Refreshingly there was never a sales pitch, no up-sell, and only 1 extra - at my request. Get what you pay for: no nonsense straight forward quality installation, not marketing, layers of administration, overhead etc.

While completely unnecessary, I was on our roof often observing the work just to learn. Pride of Workmanship personifies their business. They work with finesse, these guys love their work. They have an extensive construction background, so care was taken not to mess up other elements of the building. And built to last - the old fashion way, earning their reputation every day on each job. There are many technical details in a solar installation from assuring roof penetrations are waterproof to the specs of the micro-circuitry and automated trouble shooting. In our case the software found issues with APS electric servicing the neighborhood and they got APS to fix it. With their reputation and connections they obtained the latest technology prior to anyone else. Their objective is to give you the best trouble free solar installation with the minimum disruption to your life, and delivering more than promised. On a Friday afternoon John finished the paperwork and submitted City inspection approval to APS and by the next Wednesday morning our system was up and live. I’m told this was a record for APS, but it wouldn’t have happened if Black Platinum wasn’t totally on top of all the details. There is considerable permitting and inspections in this process, and substantial (under appreciated) value in getting this done right and expeditiously.

The Enphase micro-inverter system they use provide realtime internet monitoring of each solar panel as well as your whole system, shown as it is actually configured on your roof, with energy production and consumption over time so you alway know every day, month and year how your system is performing. So far we are producing more than we are consuming. For telling testimonials look for those reviews a year or later after installation. I’ll post one in a year to verify the ROI calculations.

John and his crew were the most honest and trustworthy contractors I have worked with and they do things right. His crew has been with him for several years and the owner, John was there throughout the entire install.

I had kicked around the idea of solar for about two years, but every sales guy I talked to was just that, a salesman. None of them felt genuine and every one of them made me feel like I was somehow going to get screwed in the end. One talked to me about leasing, which I just can't even comprehend the value aspect of that. After I stopped looking for several months, I talked with a neighbor who recently had solar installed. Compared to other neighbor's with solar, his looked the most aesthetically appeasing. He had nothing but praise for Black Platinum. He gave me Black Platinums contact info and I contacted John shortly after. John discussed his company, the way he works, and gave me a ballpark estimate of the costs and amount of electricity I could produce. Over the next couple of days, he sent me several quotes for different sized systems. I then sat on it for a couple of weeks while I explored the value proposition. Not once did I feel pressured by him as I did my own research. Once I figured out my funding, I had already known Black Platinum was the easy decision for me.

Although I signed the contract with Black Platinum in late summer/early fall, I wanted to hold off the project until the end of the year so I could recoup some of my cash outlay in only a couple of months with the tax rebate. I've heard stories about APS taking forever approving the connection agreement, but he assured me it was probable that it would be done by the end of the year. He had a good relationship with APS.

They started with the rail mounts at the end of November and the LG panels and Enphase microinverters mid -December. The project was completed on time and approved by APS by the end of the month, exactly as we expected. No anxiety on my part whatsoever.

Now I work close to he and my wife was home majority of the time during the install and I can't give enough praise about the crew and John. John always kept open communication with me via text/phone/email so I always knew the status of what was happening and the progress. Each one of his employees was easy going and fun to talk to. I felt comfortable providing them access to my garage while we were not there. John even slightly changed the design because he felt one section would be an eyesore while in the pool. Their install was clean and professional. Conduit to the breakers was run through the wall rather than outside. Microinverters are on each individual panel rather than one or two giant boxes mounted next to the breaker panel. It just looks professional. I watched another neighbor behind me go through an install with cheap looking panels installed by what looked like a bunch of high schoolers who walked all over the panels, conduit running down the outside of the wall... Total crap job. I could see footprints on their solar panels for months.

At the end, all broken roof tiles were replaced, the patch job on the drywall was perfectly matched, and we are generating electricity as expected. The app is pretty cool which shows my production and consumption, something which I am told is new from Enphase. I have nothing but good feelings about my experience with Black Platinum. I wish all contractors provided the same level of care and professionalism and managed my expectations as well as John and Black Platinum. It was truly a pleasure.
