They replaced some siding on our house and did a fine job. They came when they were supposed to and cleaned up afterwards.

Nate was quick to respond and very detail oriented when it came to helping my wife and I remodel our bathroom basement! He is clearly an expert when it comes to the remodeling world and was the perfect help when it came to answering my wife and I's questions and meeting our needs. We absolutely would recommend the guys at Big Step Construction!

Big Step helped us with a full kitchen remodel last spring. All of the employees were kind and wonderful to work with! We are incredibly pleased with the work Big Step Construction completed in converting a large, unused, and unfinished area into a welcoming student lounge complete with a kitchenette. Strong communication throughout the process. When my needs changed mid- stream, the Big Step crew made that easy, and followed up well. The final project was scheduled (and completed) quickly, and I was impressed with each of the workers professionalism and respect for my house beyond just the job area. Big Step was great to work with! They brought my vision of my office to life and it turned out perfect! Even with some obstacles we worked through them with ease and in the end I’m so happy with the results!

I hired Big Step to remodel a 5 x 8 bathroom. Mark was the Project Manager and he was wonderful to work with, very polite and professional. I can’t say enough great things about Mark, he was the best part about the job. The remodel started off well with the demo but when it came time for install, a lot of things went wrong. A shower rod was installed upside down. Door robe hook was installed too low on the door, so the robe hit the floor. The medicine cabinet was installed too high on the wall. This had to be lowered and reinstalled which caused a crack internally. The vanity light was not planned properly so it had to be moved leaving a hole in the new wall. An exhaust fan was installed and didn’t work. The room was painted in the wrong finish, eggshell not semigloss. There was damaged drywall left below the new outlet. The new drywall had to be patched and repaired from all the issues. The plumbing under the sink was installed wrong so water was leaking for a few days. The P-Trap was installed without a seal and the other connections weren’t tight causing water leaks. The new vanity has water damage and I had to urgently fix the leaking pipes myself. There were also other problems with defective materials. Some of the contractors were very messy and didn’t clean up when they were finished. Paint spots were left all over on my parkay wood flooring. It’s expected to have problems during a remodel but the project became a patch and repair job to correct all the mistakes that were made. The result of their work showed poor planning, poor execution, and incompetence. Mark did a good job at getting everything corrected in the end, but the overall experience with Big Step was very stressful and disappointing. I would not use or recommend their services.

As with all home improvement projects, issues will come up. What separates out a great contractor is how they communicate through them and resolve them. Big Step outperformed overall on the project, communication through issues, and overall communication through the project.
Would recommend and hire again.

It's been just about a year since our kitchen remodel was in it's beginning with Big Step Construction. As I look at the album of photos from the process, I am reminded of how hard they worked to make my vision come true. Even when my choices seemed a bit unusual, they helped me fit them in and really make it a space that we can use well and love. Joe was extremely patient as I planned layout and colors, and has a great sense of humor. He also was there to reassure me when the timeline became stretched and the stress built up. Mike and Mark were fantastic at demo and framing as we moved a wall and reconfigured the layout. I especially appreciated their care in clean up and willingness to answer my questions. I know most workers prefer to not be pestered while they work, and they always made a few minutes to help me understand what was happening so that I could be confident in each step. Big Step also chose well with the electricians and drywall company. Both were SO much fun to have around as they worked. It was amazing to see how much they could get done in a day.
I'm very pleased with the way everything turned out. I would not hesitate to hire them again for a home remodeling project. We are going to enjoy our kitchen for decades!

Nate was very helpful, made great recommendations. The crews for our project were always very respectful, they kept things quiet and cleaned up after themselves. I would highly recommend downloading the Builder trend app so that you can keep track of plans, schedule timeliness and payments.

Well built efficient 800 sq.ft bungalow! Custom shower for elderly in-laws is amazing. The kitchen is a great space! The team, led by Mark, was very accommodating and thoughtful. Had some great sub contractors as well.

Even though i didn't choose y'all to do my remodel Nate is amazing. it was nothing that Nate didn't or did do and on paper the estimates were close. Sometimes you just have a gut feeling, thank you! Cindy Obenchain

EDIT: We have now finished out latest project with Big Step: a master closet/master bath renovation. It turned out amazing! Our closet has so much storage and space to move around, and our bathroom is a calm, beautiful space that I actually enjoy being in. Nate helped me address my biggest issue (lack of storage space) while also helping us create some inventive solutions for our laundry needs. Todd the Tile Guy might be the best in the business - his work is outstanding, and he pays attention to even the smallest details. We want to thank the entire crew at Big Step for all their time and work on this project. It turned out better than I could ever have dreamed!

I contacted Big Step in my effort to find a company willing to help me with a pantry and mudroom/laundry room update. Nate was amazing to work with, and helped me bring my vision to life - turning two boring spaces into beautiful, usable spaces. He was always available to problem solve, talk through the project, and answer questions.
I also want to give a big thank you and shout out to Cole, who took on so many challenges with this project! He is such a nice, polite worker; he was not deterred by any challenges and helped put the finishing touches on the space.

They did a great job on multiple projects for us. Sam was responsive to texts and questions and they were prompt on the job. Always cleaned up and asked if we were satisfied. I completely recommend them for any type of project.

We had a great experience with Big Step Construction! Nate managed our basement remodel and approached the project as if it were his own home. They did a great job mapping out a floor plan that worked well with all of our needs and our budget. We broke this into two projects, as we plan to add the bathroom in later, but Nate made sure that we did all that we could now to avoid extra work (and mess) when we are ready to tackle the bathroom. Nate did a great job checking in and maintaining communication with us, fielding our questions throughout the project. We are extremely satisfied with our home and impressed with how well they managed to stay on schedule! I have already recommended them to a few of my friends and customers.

We had Big Step Construction start our primary bathroom remodel in mid-July. We worked with Nate as our construction manager and he talked us through how the process would go. Nate and Big Step used a number of subcontractors that we absolutely loved and formed relationships with. Our 2 1/2 year granddaughter looked forward to greeting them each day and created her own nicknames for some of them. Our bathroom turned out absolutely beautiful. We couldn't be happier with the finished product and the professionalism that went into making our bathroom look as good as possible.

We had an excellent experience with Big Step. Nate Johnson, the project manager, arranged the project from start to finish - eight week days. The project was to demo old beams and chandeliers in an attic room ceiling. The site prep crew, demo guys, electricians, dry wall workers, painters, electricians again, and cleaners all arrived on time and did excellent work. We love the finished renovated room. Exactly what we wanted. 5 stars ranking. Nate Johnson is excellent. I would recommend Big Step to anyone

I recently reached out to Big Step for bids on apartment remodels, and I was promptly contacted by Nate. He provided thorough and detailed responses to all of my inquiries and took the initiative to meet with my maintenance technician to assess the units and establish a clear scope of work. Nate's transparency and proactive approach, including asking numerous questions to ensure alignment, have been impressive. He also took the time to understand our concerns with our previous contractor and clearly explained Big Step’s processes, which gave us confidence in their approach. I am looking forward to working with Big Step as our new contractor for all of our properties. Based on their excellent communication and transparency so far, I highly recommend them. I will provide an updated review after we’ve completed a few projects together.

The Big Step Construction crew replaced two windows in our home in August 2024. They were the sweetest hearts, skilled, professional, and did a fabulous job. I would hire them and recommend them without reservation!

It's been just a bit over two months since our kitchen remodel by Big Step Construction finished. I had been warned before we began that remodels can be stressful. I can honestly say that I think working with Big Step cut that stress down to a minimum. There were glitches and delays like there are for any project, but I was reassured that it was all going to work out well.
My kitchen choices were a nod to the vintage/retro, and Joe rolled with them all as we worked out the details. He listened to me and made sure that any product used would be something that would serve our family well. We ended up choosing custom built cabinets and granite, and both are just beautiful.
Mike and Mark were respectful, hardworking, and patient with me as I asked a million questions. Each other worker who came in really did his best to give me confidence in my plan and make me feel part of the process. I feel like I'm not giving a clear picture of just how wonderful it has been to see my dream come true because of their excellence. I had a hard time finding a contractor willing to come to where we live, and I think that it was just God giving me a chance to work with the best.

I was very pleased with my new walk in shower. All those who worked on it were very professional, did a superior job. They cleaned up every day, worked quietly and checked as they went if I was pleased. I greatly recommend them to any one who might need their services.

I love my new railing. Mark and Mike started the project with the demo and fixed my microwave to set perfectly. The Alex and Austin stepped in to build the railing. It’s beautiful. Nate assisted and made sure the end product met their standards. I would recommend.

Big Step gave us a very reasonable quote, and came in and did the work when they said they were going to. They were friendly, and I trusted them in my home. I would recommend them to everyone. We had Big Step work to replace a small water heater in our business. They were professional, prompt, and friendly, getting us hot water again in a very timely fashion. I'm grateful for their work, and I'm confident that I'll use their services the next time the need arises.

Professional knowledge company who did an amazing job with updating my living room and kitchen. New floors, paint, countertops, backsplash, new sink, lighting, painted cupboards with new hardware. It feels like I have a new house and couldn’t be happier.

I haven’t worked side/by-side on any projects with Big Step, but we do share some customers. I’m very impressed with their commitment to the customer and the quality of their product. They covered the cost of replacing lights that the customer was having issues with! I recommend including them on your list of contractors to get a quote from!

We recently hired Big Step to help with a home improvement project. We specifically wanted a company to help with the demolition work. They were very efficient at completing the work, and have been great at resolving any issues that came up after the project. They have been very responsive and friendly. We would definitely recommend them and plan to use them again for future projects.

Big Step completed a remodel for me, including adding egress windows and finishing the basement, kitchen, bathrooms, flooring, paint, trim, windows, and doors. Little issues came up, as they do with any project of this size, but Big Step always stepped up to the plate.
