Recommended Reviews
We hired Beyond Next Level Roofing company based on the owner’s (Chris Kuhn) confident promises and his constant boasting about 5-star reviews. He told us it would be a 2-day job with 4–6 workers. In reality, it took 13 days, and most of the time there were only 1 or 2 workers, sometimes just one. While the workers were polite and respectful, the project was a disorganized mess from start to finish.
Communication was poor and unreliable:
* He told us multiple times they'd be on-site at 6am, only to have no one show up. We'd then get a last-minute text saying they decided to start later or take the day off.
* We were constantly cleaning up nails and debris ourselves, despite being promised that the company would handle daily cleanup—especially important because we have a dog. Even after the job was completed, we’ve still found an abundance of nails around our yard.
Other serious issues included:
* No tarps or protective plastic were laid down during the tear-off.
* We had to repeatedly point out mistakes and unfinished work, including fascia hung too high and improperly nailed roofing sheets (spotted by our painter).
* He underquoted the material needs, even though we warned him up front that other companies estimated 32–35 squares. He quoted 27—but it ended up being nearly 38, which cost us significantly more than his original bid.
* He backed into our maple tree twice, breaking it in half the second time.
* He “forgot” we paid a deposit, then tried to collect it again at the end and added questionable charges for "consumables."
* He claimed the job was complete, but we had to give him a laundry list of unfinished items that still needed attention.
Despite all these issues, the owner continually reminded us what a “great deal” we were getting and bragged about his perfect reviews. Frankly, our experience couldn’t have been more different.
We do not recommend this company. The lack of professionalism, poor planning, extra costs, and ongoing cleanup have made this one of the most frustrating contractor experiences we’ve ever had.
Mid-January, I got a phone call from the owner (Chris) asking if I'd like a good deal on my carport. I told him I needed the very top part of the front painted where I couldn't reach. He told me his guys could spray it - no problem. I told him if they were going to use a sprayer, they NEEDED to mask and dropcloth around that side of the house. I even left work to meet them face to face before they started to point at the house and emphasize where they NEEDED TO MASK AND COVER.
They did not mask anything. EVERYTHING was coated in white paint overspray - my vinyl siding, on and IN my heat pump, the asphalt, the plants in my garden... it looked like it had snowed. Additionally, they had chucked fiberglass panels into my expensive garden compost, trampled things, left cigarette butts, food trash, and hardware all over the lawn. The roof panels (which were also sprayed) were left on the ground for weeks and I was left without a roof on my carport. Items I had been storing were rained on continuously during that time and many things were damaged or destoyed.
In the meantime, Chris promised to clean up all the paint. I stressed that the guys were NOT to use abrasives. Of course, they went ahead and did it anyway. The most damage was done to my heat pump cover, which was stripped and scratched. They insisted they didn't do it, but left the evidence - a can of Comet - on the ground right next to it.
When the roof finally went up, the material quality was so poor - broke and snapped everywhere - that Chris had to come replace the whole roof a second time. The second round looks better, but the guy he hired to come finish it dented it terribly and it leaks from the length of the ridgeline and random holes he apparently made.
Fast forward to July. Thankfully, Chris hasn't completely abandoned me here, but it's STILL NOT DONE. I paid $4900 to find myself in this position. The roof still leaks, there is still paint on the asphalt, siding, etc, my heatpump cover still hasn't been addressed, and the worst part is Chris will no call / no show about 85% of the time. He'll go for days or weeks, show up for a few hours, then he's MIA for another indeterminate amount of time. I don't know if my place will ever be wrapped up because he's too busy taking new jobs and new clients.
I had Chris do my roof previously when he was with a different company and it was done well and done quickly. That is the ONLY reason I agreed to have him and his crew come do my carport in January. I had absolutely no idea I'd end up in this position. Just be warned that if there is an issue, it will not be promptly resolved. I've organized my evidence and contacted a lawyer. I would just much rather he finish what he started. I figure the least I can do at this point is warn others.
