Basswood Roofing “nailed it.”

We were very happy with the job. The crew worked hard and were done with the whole thing in 1 day. Our only concern was the fact that we found 11 nails and 2 large staples on our driveway where our cars could have easily run over them. (Luckily we didn't.)

Basswood Roofing was a pleasure to do business with, from Nick coming out for the roof inspection, the quality of the roof itself, to the workers who came to install. Everyone from Basswood was professional. And the crew was so respectful of the property by protecting the home during the old roof removal and the cleanup process was so thorough you couldn't even tell there was work done on the house, everything was spotless. Where do I even start with what a great experience I had with Nick and Basswood Roofing. My job was extensive, total roof tear down, garage flat roof redone, total siding tear down on a 1940's house, he knew there would be surprises and was up front about everything. He was INCREDIBLY responsive, more than any contractor I've ever worked with, through the entire length of the project. If I called, he answered and handled my questions, same with text, he checked in to make sure I was happy with the job, again, incredible customer service. I went from initial contact to quote in my hands in less than 48 hours. He walked me through my options of financing, I signed everything and we were on our way. The roof was done by his crew in 4.5 hours on a 92 degree day. His crew foreman talked to me through the entire thing, answered whatever questions I had and gave me updates. Everything was cleaned up and hauled away like they had never been there. Then, the siding was tackled, and this is where I met Steve. Steve and his guys handled all of the siding tear off, the carpentry to fix all the rotted wood around the windows (16 in total) and all the metal wrapping I had which was a lot. Steve was just as responsive on the job site as Nick, giving me updates, asking how I wanted certain things handled, walking me through all of the problem areas I had and how they can be fixed, actually listening to me when I described the issues I had and showed me why I was having them, and how they were going to fix them. Obviously this took some time to get the house completely done, but they were done quicker than I expected and the house looked GORGEOUS. People have already stopped and commented, and drive slow past looking at the new gem in the neighborhood. When I did my walk around, I found 3 small issues that I texted Nick about, they were back out to fix it within 48 hours, walked me through to ensure I was satisfied before even cleaning up to leave, even if it was a quick 30 minute fix. So, here I am, with a house I don't even recognize from the outside, and glad I found Nick and his crew. I will absolutely be using them again. My first time contracting with Basswood. Got new gutters installed on a very old farm house. The gutters look great and the crew was very meticulous in that they took care not to disturb the landscaping and picked up after themselves. Through the entire process Nick was very responsive and detailed in communicating the next steps. Hope to use Basswood on other projects soon.

We highly recommend Basswood Roofing! After our roof started leaking we called Basswood on a Monday morning and Mike came out to inspect the leak and roof that afternoon. He was very helpful and professional. Before leaving he walked me through two different options with clear, fair pricing. We ultimately decided to get our whole roof replaced. They delivered materials that Friday afternoon and replaced our whole roof that Sunday! We were really impressed at the urgency, professionalism, and clear communication throughout the whole process and ultimately we love our new roof! Thank you!!!

Less than 1 month after install, the roof has already survived multiple storms: 10" of snow, a tornado passing down the street (literally!), half inch hail, and torrential rain. The roof appears to be holding up despite all the storms and still looks great too. After trying to find a roof contractor for almost a year, we came across Basswood. Salesperson, Mike, was friendly and answered all of our questions. We selected roof colors at the store in Walworth. Honestly, I wish Mike could have brought the samples out to the property, but matching the color to the house worked out anyway. Since we contracted with Basswood in winter, we had to wait for a warm day for install. Nick, the owner, and Mike offered several dates and we finally landed on one that would work after just a couple weeks. The roof crew was pleasant and did a fairly thorough job keeping landscaping, A/C and other things covered, as well as cleaning up afterward. Other reviewers gave high marks about clean up and I would say: pretty good, but not exactly to my fastidious standards. There were roofing nails still on the roof and some scraps of material here and there in the yard. More importantly, I think, right after work began on the roof, there was a call for 10" of snow. So, the crew definitely was hustling to finish the job and perhaps they couldn't be as particular about clean up. The roof was completed before the snow, which was a great relief. Unfortunately, the gutters were not yet installed and I had to create stop-gap solutions at the base of the downspouts to keep the melting snow from going directly down toward the foundation. However, the gutter crew came right after the snow melted. That crew bent up a metal piece near where the roof joins a wall. They also left one gutter extension about 2 feet short. However, we reached out to Nick/Mike, when we discovered each, and the gutter crew promptly came back out twice to fix the issues. That is excellent customer service. In the past, our old gutters would become overloaded and rainwater would spill down the house. Basswood's 6" gutters seem to be catching water from the downpours and directing it where it needs to be. And, like I said, the roof has already withstood almost a foot of snow, tornado force winds, hail, and downpours. Consequently, we definitely recommend Basswood for any roof/gutter projects.

It’s so hard to find a contractor these days that is on time and professional. I am so lucky a friend recommended Nick and his company Basswood. They are not your typical company. They make you feel like family! He was out to do an estimate that worked around our crazy schedule the day I discovered my roof damage.
