My advice to you is to have a good licensed person check if your house is leaking too. We made a big mistake going with supporting a young local company without the knowledge and experience they claim to have. The estimate is excessive and the work poor, very poor.
Just because something “looks” good does not mean it’s functional. They sided our house, now around our windows is leaking and they don’t want to do the job right to stop the leaking! They claim they have satisfied their obligation, but they truly don’t know how to do many things properly. We have already had qualified people inspect their job and they are lacking in many areas. Things the average person, without construction knowledge would likely not notice or know until their house has been leaking a few years and things have mold/rot now visible to an untrained eye. Their excuse is always something like they have always done it this way, or this is how we were taught. Well, it’s not right!
They put siding over rotted wood. They left crooked sills next to sills they did straight. The new soffit has dirt caked in it, they left dirt smeared on all the soffits with a lot of pencil marks after their final clean up, that is not ok. Siding and corners were cut short, they tried to hide it with caulk. Almost all of our drip edge was destroyed and most was replaced but it no longer is what it was, and we had just gotten a new roof. The aluminum wrap on either side of our porch were different sizes, we had to complain to get them to make them the same size. Our front wall of our house would have leaked if we had no construction knowledge. We had them replace the step flashing they went over. The caulking around doors/windows has been attempted like 3 or 4 times, they kept leaving gaps around windows/doors for water to get in and we have to go check to see if it’s actually done this time. Why should we have to do that? My window sills now have large water stains. They used cheap house wrap that does not keep water out when it gets behind siding as water does do that. The good house wrap repels the water and lets the water flow out so you don’t get rot/mold. They used a strip of Tyvek tape around windows, LOL, which is another reason my windows are leaking because they should have been properly wrapped and/or window tape. The light holes in the soffit were funny, not one was even round and had to be redone because they did not fit lights, too big, and one they just cut all the way from the edge leaving a large split in the soffit! We had to complain and had them replace as well. A plethora of other smaller damage from day 1 that we did not make them replace-we paid for all of it except one thing.
The warranty they claim they will honor, but they won’t even complete my job correctly or stop my house from leaking! When they come back to inspect it, will they deny it was their fault because they simply don’t know any better? Like they are doing now. In reality, several important things I asked for did not get done (though it was discussed, quoted and/or agreed they could and would do it, but he forgot) but the bill is the same. They left my job to go do another job before my job was even done! That excuse was great! Well they had to get to the next job you know.
I have plenty of pics to show if they can be uploaded. These are a few pics of what they were happy with and we have been and are still complaining trying to get our job finished correctly.
