I just discovered this company a few days ago. My AC contractor sent them to fix some roof damage that happened during my new AC installation. I figured the AC company wouldn't send anyone but the best, and I was right. America sent 3 young men who arrived on time, worked smoothly as a team, and did a remarkable job. Even better, they were pleasant, courteous, and made me feel like a valued customer. I asked for a business card and will recommend them to anyone who asks. They'll be my first call if I ever need roof work!
America Roofing (AR) was the roofing contractor for our community. At 2 years and 5 weeks, we had a large rain. Many houses in the community suffered damage. America came out to look at the houses and repaired many of them.
When they saw that I had rooftop solar, they said, "Solar caused the leak." I asked for evidence of this. They provided none. They couldn't provide any evidence as the leak was not related to the PV and was nowhere near the PV installation. In fact, when I first called AR about the issue, James, upon finding that my roof had solar, said immediately, "Your warranty is void." AR claimed that any solar installation voids the warranty. This is not true. A bad installation with faults, of course, will void the warranty. This was not the case with my house.
I directed the AR roofers to where the leak originated. They looked at that area, chatted, then ignored that area and took pictures of other areas having nothing to do with the leak. "Look! We have pictures!"
My insurance company's roofer with 10 years experience confirmed, "Yes, what you suggested really is the source of the leak." That was what AR intentionally ignored. Three different licensed roofing contractors found the leak area within 2 minutes. They pointed out the cause of the leak - substandard installation and provided images, images that AR somehow missed.
When asked why the roofers ignored the damaged area and photographed the rest of the roof that had no no damage, Eddie Chavez from KHovnanian builders said, "I have no idea why the roofers didn't include pictures of the damage." He then told me to follow up with my insurance company, trying to wash his hands quickly of responsibility.
AR appears to be more interested in big subdivision contracts. When presented with evidence of shoddy work, they deflect and deny. They could choose honesty and responsibility, but...
My experience has been echoed by others in our community and is backed by emails and images.
To be fair, my house WAS 5 weeks past the warranty. But why is the warranty only 2 years in a place where rains occur infrequently?
KHovnanian publicity touts the quality of their homes. While all homes will have some issues and while building a home is difficult, standing behind your product with integrity is not difficult.
This occurred in Scottsdale. Good luck if you choose to hire AR or go with KHovnanian.
I personally have contracted with America Roofing Co, twice, over the last four years, for two different homes requiring new roofs. Zero regrets. They are affordable, offer good value with their material offerings, carry respectable warranty terms, and they employ a staff, top-to-bottom, who are dependable, customer-focused, and display solid written and verbal communication. Their established process is systematic and organized, starting from the initial bid all the way through final inspection & invoicing. What stands out the most to me though, in working with America Roofing two times now, is simply their clear concern for customer satisfaction. Cannot emphasize that enough. I really appreciate that for both homes, when I unexpectedly encountered very unique circumstances compromising the integrity of the roofing performance, they proactively worked with me toward very creative solutions. They went above and beyond in my view when they could have just stayed the course. I will always remember that. I am choosing to write this review for the mere fact that I want to recognize them for their dependable and quality-minded approach that I personally experienced with them when I required new roofs to be installed. They passed both times with flying colors in making me a satisfied customer.
