They now only sell in quantity. For example: 6”x6” PT post buy 8 at a time or none, 2”x8”x12 buy 6 at a time etc. with most lumber. I need 4 post and 20, 2x8x12s etc. and they told me to go elsewhere. I’ve done business with them over the years and that just ended. Netflix, Uber, Amazon, the list is endless and now your local lumber yard are using tier pricing to upsell and over charge you on things you don’t need for their gain. No such thing as Customers anymore no appreciation while in a bubble economy. It’s a damn shame.

Right at a year ago I purchased a 12" x 12" x 12' piece of lumber. I had to pay to have the lumber cut in half so I could have 6" x 12" pieces. This piece of lumber displayed characteristics that it had been on the yard for quite some time. I explained to the representative that I planned on cutting the pieces into blocks to use as platforms for my fifth wheel trailer stabilizing system. The representative did not caution me in any way regarding doing this. So after a couple of weeks I commenced to cutting up the lumber for my blocks. Right out of the starting gate I lost 1/3 of the lumber due to the pieces completely falling apart. I called regarding this to see if I could get a partial refund. I offered to send pictures of the pieces that fell apart. After doing so I was advised that I would not be provided a partial refund, I would be given consideration on my next purchase. I was told the wood was green and I should have let it dry out. The lumber was clearly not green. Since then the remaining pieces I cut have fallen apart. I am down to my last remaining blocks. One of these remaining pieces is displaying signs of failing. I paid a pretty price for this lumber thinking it would last longer than my previous system which was screwing together 3 pieces of 12 x 12 x 12 squares together. They lasted more than 2 1/2 years. Instead this lumber failed within a year. I won't be making an additional purchase.

It's been tough getting a list finalized, these folks are very friendly but may not be accustomed to some of us being less patient than others. If you continue to initiate phone calls you should be ok, just try not to be upset if the promised call from them never comes.

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
