Aloha Kia Hilo, HI , Jeff B, Finance Manager, refuse to take responsible for car registration address error and registered my car with my mainland address instead of Hawai’i. Expected me to go to DMV 1.5 hr 1-way and pay $5 fee to correct address error on their side. This would mean taking a day off work to deal with an error dealership made as it would be 4+ hr day of my travel time . Big Island has limited locations for DMV and only 2 Kia dealership .
When I asked them to fix, he blamed me instead. Customer is not a priority after purchase and encouraged to give 100% satisfaction survey within 30 days. After that they know we can’t edit survey, so I’m SOL. So if you have complaints you can file on Kia customer service, which I did. After purchasing their high$$$ end price Kia vehicle 2025, this is how I was treated. Not the best Aloha to welcome new residents customers to island. I overlooked other sale and financing issues for my Aloha mindful intentions, but this error was a minor thing they can accommodate but refused to take accountabilities. I rarely wrote reviews but want to caution others.
Martin was WONDERFUL! 5 min before close I came in with a flat tire. They fixed me up quick, were respectful, and they did it all with a smile. Service dept 10/10 stars !
As a veteran, integrity and transparency are values I hold in the highest regard—both personally and in the businesses I choose to support. Unfortunately, my experience with Aloha Kia Hilo has been deeply disappointing and frustrating on multiple levels.
After purchasing a vehicle from them, I experienced a complete transmission failure just 2.5 months later. There is absolutely no reason a transmission should fail that quickly, especially when you’re told the vehicle is in good condition. This speaks to a serious lack of transparency regarding the actual state of the vehicles they are selling.
What made the situation even worse was the poor communication between the service and sales managers when trying to use my extended warranty. I spent countless hours waiting for calls to be returned, and in many cases, those calls never came. As a customer, especially one who relies on my vehicle for work and to support my family living in a remote location, this lack of urgency and follow-through was incredibly frustrating.
A simple courtesy like clear timelines for when the work will begin and be completed would go a long way. But even that was not provided.
I do not recommend Aloha Kia Hilo. If you value honest communication and need a reliable vehicle with proper support behind it especially as someone with responsibilities and people depending on you—look elsewhere.
Update: As of today, the General Manager of Aloha Kia Hilo has still not responded to me directly regarding the serious issues with my vehicle (only on here have I gotten a response, which is a copy and paste response.) Despite multiple attempts to reach out, and the fact that his team is well aware of the situation, I continue to be met with unprofessionalism and blatant disrespect and excuses. When we call for updates or ask to speak with Phil, we are often met with rude behavior and in several instances like today, the staff has
actually hung up the phone on us.
It’s become clear to me that any negative reviews left for this dealership are likely filtered through to the GM, who may do some surface-level damage control, but does not take meaningful steps to resolve the actual problems. The staff pretends to be handling the issue or communicating internally, but it’s all for show. In reality, they are wasting your time and hoping you’ll just give up.
My original review still stands. Aloha Kia Hilo lacks transparency, accountability, and basic respect for their customers. I have no faith that their behavior will change, this appears to be how they’re used to doing business. If integrity and reliable service matter to you, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere.
