We had a bad storm last week and a big limb fell and it the roof. It pit a dent on a shingle and caused a leak in my shop. I called Karal at Allan Roofing because they replaced our roof many years ago and came out and fixed a skylight leak a few years back and no charge. We had a contractor put a roof over our deck and a few years later wind had raised up a few shingles on the end. I called Allen Roofing and Karal came right out. I told him I should have not called him because he didn't do that roof, but he fixed it any way and did it for free. Now today Chris showed up, looked it over and within 30 minutes or less had it fixed with a thin piece of metal he tapped under the shingle. I asked the cost and he said, "How about $50 to help out with the fuel expense.?" It is a 45 mile drive with a truck. We visited awhile and he left. I would not call anyone else for roofing except Allen Roofing. Its always been great service.

I live in a rental and our roof was leaking at the ends due to a California gutter system. Allen showed up one day and literally set up the ladder and was up there for about 2 min before coming down and leaving with a bill. So I went up and all he did was throw some sloppy patch seal on the corner and left. It continued to leak the next rain fall. I called landlord and once again Allen came back and absolutely did the same thing with just more goop. Continued to leak after 2 expensive bills. What a joke. What he should have done is suggested a new roof or done it right by cutting out corners and re torching . Guess what I'm a roofer myself and this was absolutely ridiculous to try and pull.

Carl came to my house personally to inspect my roof and after a storm to advise on a piece of flashing which came off a skylight. He was always very responsive and knowledge. His crew came out to repair the flashing and were equally professional and kind. I would not hesitate to use them again

Beware! Karl Allen came and gave me a verbal estimate (very pricey). I shook his hand and thanked him for coming by. End of conversation. Three weeks later he shows up at my door to tell me he's ready to start work and that he'd already pulled a permit!

I politely explained that I was going with a different contractor. He repeated that he'd already paid for a permit and when asked why he thought we had an agreement his reply was that we'd shaken hands. I explained that all the other companies I'd requested estimates from had emailed me an estimate as well as details regarding materials etc... Then for a third time he told me he'd already paid for a permit, implying I should reimburse him. I couldn't quite figure out if he was that confused, or if it was a deliberate scam attempt.

Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
