Yellowstone Lumber

Great small hardware store. Not the largest selection of tools and parts, but adequate for most projects. Prices are fairly comparable to the big box stores. Lumber has been less expensive at Yellowstone than at the other stores in the area. The only reason I give them 4 stars instead of 5 is the smaller range of options.

Today We had the pleasure to deal with Ethan, what a great kid. He was willing to go walk around in the lumber yard and a how me what you had in a rain storm with put complaining one once. Was more than helpful on assisting me in trying to find what I was looking for without knowing for sure myself. So I'm giving you a five star based upon the actions of this fine young man. As a business owner myself it is hard to find quality individuals that you can count on to give quality service and to represent your company. In Ethan I Believe you have found just that.

Great variety of tools and hardware. Don't need to drive to a big box when you can get most things right in Rigby.

prices may be a little higher than home depot but better service members who actually know what they are talking about

If I could give this company zero stars I would. They are a complete joke to work with. They are extremely incompetent, continually sending inaccurate lumber material, destroyed plywood, and billing incorrectly. They would deliver one item and bill for 4 items. We would tell them NOT to deliver something and later that day a delivery guy would show up. There is no customer service or willingness to discuss anything. Unless you enjoy throwing money away, I would highly recommend using ANY other company for your building needs, even if you had to travel

I always try to support local businesses but this one is a hard one to support. Their process for buying lumber takes way too long. Every time I've bought lumber I'm always waiting 10-30 minutes on employees to provide purchased lumber. So now my go to lumber source is Home depot or Lowes, where I can pick out my lumber and simply purchase it and leave.

We brought back materials we didn’t use on a home building project. They didn’t give us credit on a front door and stain we bought. They took it on consignment and they didn’t keep records. They never gave us our door or stain back. I found them to be disorganized and in great need of order in keeping track if Customer returns. I didn’t feel like we were taken care of by this company.

Great customer service. The girl that helped me was awesome. I was so lost and she walked me over to the screw aisle and made sure I got the right item. The guys in lumber loaded my van and were really nice.

Getting lumber is awesome. Pull in they load and you are on your way. Inside customer service less impressive. Good place though. Have a pretty good selection of items.

This place has lots of good stuff. However it's hard to find people to point you in the right direction. My personal experience has been that when trying to find an employee for assistance they appear to disappear or pick up a phone right when you get to their desk... The people in the lumber yard are quick and helpful.

Overall I was having a great experience in the store. I was looking at buying some lumber and a gentleman came over to check on us right as we had made our decision. I asked him if once I paid if I could pick the pieces and his response was absolutely out of line “NO! You get what you get this is only grade 3”... it took me back. I would have had no problem with him saying no if he had been more diplomatic about it. He could have said “Unfortunately we can’t pick through the pieces, this is a low grade material and you get what you get”. I would have been fine with that and would have still made the purchase and been happy to do so. Instead I came home wrote this review and a letter. This was all for a project that I was excited about. I will be happy to pay more somewhere else that actually cares about the people who come through the door.

I came here to get some 2x4's instead of going to Lowes because is was closer. Well that is the only "Pro" this place had. 1st their lumber is far inferior to what Lowes offers, even when I purchased #1's, I told the attendant that I needed straight boards without cracks or bark. Usually I would not be so picky, but these were not being used for studding, but for a project where the appearance of the wood was critical. He loaded them while I had to go BACK and PAY again because the checker not only charged me for #2's, he also charged me for the wrong amount. I felt like I was bothering them with a simple request for good wood. When I returned I found that the 3 boards that had been loaded were poor quality and not very straight, and had cracks and chapping on them. I asked if there were better boards available and the response was "not much better than this..." I said are you sure you loaded #1's? Yes, and these are much better than #2's. Well for the price I paid per board I should have received plained, kiln dried, oak heartwood. You couldn't deliver on the most basic lumber need. So I will drive farther, and spend less and get better wood with better customer service from now on.

Every time I go in they are more than willing to help. If I can't find it they point me to the item. I find most of the time their lumber is cheaper than driving to Home Depot or Lowe's. Depending on what you are returning, they are great about taking un-used items back.

We went to Yellowstone lumber for some tongue and groove we put on our ceiling. They were much less expensive than any where else we checked. We even had them ship it to our home 2 hours away, they price was still lower. We always check here when we are making large construction purchases.

Update 1 year later: New state new construction project in northern Utah. Excellent customer service! There are lots of construction companies where we live, but we have had another great experience with Yellowstone. Ty (the estimator) gets back to us with in a day or two with any estimate we request. If something is holding it up he let's us know and gets it as soon as possible. Even though the delivery cost is a bit more due to the distance we have gone with Yellowstone for the majority of the materials for our new house due to competitive pricing and awesome customer service. Thank you Yellowstone!

It seems like a family owned and operated kind of place. There were quite helpful. The lumber prices are a little higher than Home depot.

The employees are nice enough, just don't know their own inventory well. Asked for multiple items over multiple weeks, and maybe 80% of the time they couldn't even tell me if they had it in the store, which I would find on my own eventually. If you are looking for someone more qualified than the average American, and need some questions answered or advice for any project, this store is not for you. They will underwhelm you with a smile on their face at least. =)

P.S. Great lumber though =D
