Ward Insulation and Concrete Lifting

I am in Northern Colorado, and I got 3 bids for my concrete lifting work, necessary because my contractor didn't pack the dirt around my foundation. I frankly went with Ward, because they were the lowest bid. They did a great job, from bid to completion. Johnny and Jared communicated clearly, arrived on time, and finished the work well and efficiently. I highly recommend them, based on my experience!

Ward insulation installed a whole house fan and provided the best care , installation and services we could have asked for. Their estimate and costs were the best around and they ordered and completed the job in just over one weeks time!!! I am so happy with the fan and work of the gentleman!! They were even kind to our dog!

We moved into an older house that had very thin insulation in the attic. Chris came out when he said he’d be there and was quick and thorough in giving us a bid. The day of the installation came and the two technicians were courteous and explained everything well and they even uncovered some issues that needed repairing and were able to do it that day. I’m very pleased with the work done and would highly recommend Ward Insulation to anyone!

I was thoroughly impressed with their professionalism and attention to detail. Some days were long and they rocked it always setting accurate expectations. And the finished product is absolutely insane.

I sold my house and prior to the closing it was discovered that my stamped concrete front porch had settled almost three inches at one corner. The contractor had not installed a foundation specified by the design firm. I called Ward and they responded the next day and provided a quote to use polymer foam to lift the pad. The engineering firm agreed with the corrective action. The Ward representative said the crew would arrive in two days. Actually, changed plans and came out the next day. The successfully returned the concrete pad to correct elevation. Amazing, no excavation, no mess, and fixed at a very reasonable price in a couple of days. The estimator and the guys that did the work were extremely polite, professional and down to earth decent people. Highly recommend! They saved my bacon!

My experience with Ward Insulation was a fantastic one. We had our crawl space and attic re-insulated. The gentleman were friendly and professional and their work was thorough . I could not be more pleased and would certainly hire them again.

I felt grateful for the solid work the fellas from Ward did in adding insulation to to my attic and crawlspace. Both the workers were professional, hard working, cheerful and friendly. I'd refer Ward to a friend looking for insulation work.

Carter and his crew lifted the cement under my garage, drive way, and front steps. They were very professional and treated me with respect, answering all my questions thoroughly. It was like working with a friend instead of a company. They did a great job in a timely manner. I would highly reccommend this company and plan on having them doing more work for me as well. Super company to work with!

12/8/20: 2 Stars: Chris has been very responsive and quite professional up to this point, and we've been happy with the service. But today was the first day that they started installing spray foam into our attic, and there was a thick cloud of some kind of fog or vapor in the house when they left. No one ever told us not to go into the house for any certain length of time, and now there is a fine layer of white dust covering everything in our upstairs. They offered to credit us for the cost of staying in a hotel tonight, but they haven't told me what the dust is or what they're going to do to clean it up or what health effects it might have on my family. I hope they will make this right.

Update 12/15/20: 4.5 Stars: After three days of making phone calls to the spray foam manufacturer and various agencies, I got a call from Carter Ward, the owner if Ward Insulation. He very sincerely apologized for the spray foam application mistake that resulted in the dust and promised to pay for industrial cleaners to come remove the dust from our home. He furthermore promised not to charge us for the insulation work his company did. Although this has been a stressful situation that took longer to resolve than I would have liked, and we’ve had to sleep at my parents’ place for nearly a week, I’m very pleased and relieved that, in the end, they made it right. I have received very good customer service from this company and have been very pleased and satisfied with their professionalism and common decency. I would definitely use them again, and I would refer any of my friends or family to them.

From the start when Chris came to give us a quote we were impressed. He carefully listened to our questions and provided understandable answers - in addition the email follow up questions were clearly and quickly responded to. The quote came in very resonable, and the workers were proffesional and complete. We couldn't be happier with the instalation of our whole house fan, attic sealing, and getting our insulation up to current code.

Worked with the office and estimator for almost two weeks setting up an appointment then received a call on the scheduled appointment day from the estimator our location was out of their service area when they advertise a location within an hour of our location. I can fully appreciate the service area policy but being made aware of the problem on the scheduled appointment day instead of our initial contact with Ward insulation is unacceptable causing a loss of 2 weeks to locate another contractor.

Did not complete the work as requested. I called and requested a quote to have a broken pad lifted, stabilized and repaired (documented on the quote). Ward send out an estimator and he explained the process and what I could expect. Where the pad is broke it would be leveled out, more foam injected to stabilize and they would caulk the crack. End product would be a flat surface with the step between the two broke part gone. Oddly enough the estimator asked if I was getting more quotes and told him yes. He told me be careful, they will tell you one thing when you are getting the quote and then then they will have adds when the job is done. Strange, this is exactly what Ward did to me, no extra costs but they did not do the job I asked for and told me it was not in the quote even thou it is specifically called out.
When the crew came out I ask how the process worked and they told me they would level the pad first and then add more foam in multiple locations on the pad to stabilize and keep it from moving in the future. Crew drilled the holes and injected the foam to lift the pad to level it out, the pad would not lift. They continued to inject foam to the point it came out some of the stone work on the wall, the pad still did not level out. They told me there may be too much weight on the pad keeping it from lifting. This was the first time I had heard this, the only issue the estimator spoke about is possible cracking. They went ahead and stabilized the rest of the pad and did the caulking. All that work appears fine but the reason I started this process was to level out the pad, that was not done.
When I contacted Carter about the issue he told me leveling was not part of the quote even thou the quote stated the customer wanted the pad leveled. When I asked him why the crew told me step one would be to level the pad he said they were just trying to exceed expectations. When I asked him why the crew was so concerned when it did not level and they took a bunch of pictures to document he just kept telling me it was not part of the quote even thou the quote has it specifically called out. I should have known this was not going to go well when they crew showed up on the wrong day because Carter did not read his email, an email he replied to with incorrect information because he did not read a one paragraph long email. Would not use this company again. I am having a second company come fix the work that Carter messed up.

Price was not what was originally written down. Did not give us the information for the rebates and the process to get them until the job was done. It was too late. Dont be surprised if it costs hundreds of dollars more when they come for payment. Very disappointed and wouldn't recommend them to anyone else.

I’m POSITIVE you can do better than Ward Insulation. Long review, but worth the read...

My issues with this company began when they blew in cellulose insulation (6/30/19) with a defective hose (company acknowledged that the hose likely had a hole in it) and literally covered every surface and item in my home with a fine dusting of cellulose. Note that they did nothing to prevent this mess, leaving a full, unopened roll of plastic downstairs in my home. They didn’t bother to cover closet doors, floors, or any other surface for that matter, and explained away the incident, saying “cellulose is just messier than fiberglass.”

For a family prone to allergies, this represented not just an enormous mess, but a health hazard. I have since spent countless hours cleaning – laundering, dusting, running fans, air filters, vacuuming over and over – and for this was compensated $150 for what Carter (president/owner of Ward) explains is a “typical” cleaning fee. There was nothing typical about this mess, and anyone who has ever had a “deep” housecleaning done in Ft. Collins knows that fees are much higher than this.

I was dissatisfied with this response – both the content and the tone (read: Too-bad-so-sad-for-you) from Ward, so I contacted Scott Suddreth, the Program Manager for the Efficiency Works program through which we had originally found Ward Insulation. I contacted him primarily to give him feedback about what I felt was an issue of service quality and poor customer service. Scott was very helpful – he carefully wrote down my feedback and indicated his intent to follow through with Ward to get their side of the story, which he did. Scott also offered to do a free Quality Assurance assessment of the work that Ward had done, and I took him up on this. Part of Scott’s job is to ensure that contractors that participate in the Efficiency Works program are compliant with program expectations.

Scott spent 3 hours at my home a few weeks ago (summer of 2019) reviewing their work, and his findings were really surprising. For one, he re-did the whole-house air sealing test – doing it properly this time and securing us an additional $300 in rebate from Ward. Additionally, he identified several areas for correction – meaning that Ward had not performed the initial work to program standards and they will need to return to correct it. These included insufficient insulation, insufficient spray foam in several locations, a fire hazard created by Ward by spraying foam over a furnace vent, and not putting weather stripping around the attic hatch and therefore not sealing it correctly. These issues would never have been identified had Scott not done a complete QA on their work.

That tells me that this company could potentially be out there every day doing work that is most likely sub-par and possibly dangerous (fire hazard, hello?) without having anyone looking out for quality. I don’t believe I’m just one outlier. Not only this, but when they wreck your home with dust, they don’t really give two clucks about it and they’re not afraid to tell you so. I have a lot of forgiveness for folks when they’re polite and when they take responsibility for their own mistakes. Ward offers a losing combination of shoddy work on top of an I-don’t-give-a-crap attitude toward its customers.

I didn't end up posting this review until now, February 20th, 2020, because of yet another discovery made today about the dangerous and shoddy work of this company. See electrician statement below:
"Labor for up to 2 on site electricans to separate fan and light
switching. Add an additional switch leg for bathroom fan to
switch box, During this process a few very unsafe open splices
were found in the attic that were installed with the bathroom
vent fan to the light kit/switchbox when the insulation was blown
in. An additional hour of labor was used to repair open splices.
Open splices were cut and reinstalled correctly in electrical
junction boxes rated for insulation."

DON'T USE THIS COMPANY.

8/17/24: UPDATE:
We asked Ward's to lift our sidewalk that had continued to sink since we started this project 4 years ago. The angles and spans of lift had to be just right for the sidewalk to drain. Additionally, there was a 2.5" lift on one end and a 1/4" lift at the opposite end, so they had to be quite precise in the tapering to avoid damage to our patio pavers. As usual, they did a phenomenal job! We are always pleased with their workmanship from estimate to completion. Would recommend them to anyone needing insulation or concrete work done. Phil and his team are the BEST!
1/6/22: Insulated 1900 sqft basement drop ceiling, sprayed foam insulation at top of concrete walls, increased overhead insulation in 2 ground level bedrooms. Their team was prompt, professional and respectful of our home. The team even knew our history of working with Ward's on multiple projects. Our home is clearly warmer so we're looking forward to lower heating bills. I wish everyone employed the kind of people Ward's does! Business would be so much easier and pleasant.

Nov, 2020: They started our concrete lifting and stabilization project 2 days after we accepted the quote, worked efficiently and cleaned up the area. They were polite and professional. Very pleased with their work! Our porch and sidewalk look great and it saved us a ton of money!

Workers showed up on time and started work right away. They drilled holes in the porch and steps, then put foam in the holes to fill voids in my house's foundation. They answered all my questions and were done with the job by noon. This was the 2nd time I had Ward Insulation out to do work at my house. The first time was a couple of years ago when they came out to upgrade the insulation in my ceilings and garage. I would use them again if the situation should arise in the future.

Work started on time as promised, minimal disruption to home owner, they completed all the paperwork for rebates, cleaned up and left no mess from job, all very professional.

Ward insulation has done my work for years. They are excellent is keeping their schedule. They know what needs to be done and are always professional. Services lines are great and knowledgeable. I recommend them to all my customers and contractors.

I just can't say enough good about these folks! They are reasonably priced and you get what you pay for! They are on time and do a great job at cleanup. Just painless to deal with. I have had them do two jobs for me one large and one small and they treated me the same each time!

Wish I got insulation sooner, huge difference with temperature upstairs. They made it super easy getting the rebate and worked super quick.

If I could rate 10 stars I would!!! Carter and the whole crew at Ward Insulation went well beyond the call of duty for a business. These guys should give classes on customer service! I needed a concrete mud jacking job done on very short notice in order to close on the sale of my home. I was frantically trying to find a company to give me an estimate on the job in time. Not only did Carter drive 40 miles to my home the day I requested the estimate, but got the job done in less than 24 hours of my phone call. It was it done fast, it was done right and it looks amazing. Great work guys!

Noticed a bunch of broken stuff once they left he did not take responsibility they broke and they never came back to fix. Don't know if they're honest about the level of insulation and the protection for which they said it would give. You should definitely go with somebody else.

Porch looks great, would recommend their product to mud jack your concrete rather than replacing it.

They were very professional and honest. They gave me an estimate and suggested I call our Gas Company to see if they could do an audit.

Ward Insulation did a good job insulating the floor in a bedroom above my garage. This room was always cold before and is much improved since they completed the job. They respected my property, were conscientious and did good work. Although this is a messy process, they cleaned up well. This job involved a rebate through the Power Company and the Office Staff handled the paperwork quickly and thoroughly. I would recommend Ward Insulation. They performed as expected, did what they said they would do and I am pleased with their professionalism.

I would highly recommend Ward Insulation!! Carter and his team were excellent!! They were professional, extremely polite and cleaned up after themselves. Carter and his team did a fantastic job lifting our concrete patio using his polyurethane lifting system. They were able to repair 4 sections that had settled approximately 2in. This repair saved us a few thousand dollars! Moreover, it was a pleasure to have his crew, Jordan and Luis working on our house. They were professional, efficient, and super polite.
