We absolutely love our Unity home! Building a home is such an enormous undertaking and we were frankly overwhelmed by the process. Fortunately we found Unity Homes! The quality, design and energy efficiency are superb. We are thrilled with our home and with the way Unity helped us with decisions along the way - and how they continue to stay connected and continue to support us whenever we reach out to them. Our neighbors, family and friends are also always telling us how much they love our house. We know we made the right choice!

We flat out love our Unity Zum home, and always have. In the four years we've lived in it, we've had minimal problems that have been easy to fix. We always enjoy being there.

The team at Unity Homes provided fantastic support and guidance during the entire process of designing and building our house. Their design team was able to create a space for us that is beautiful, functional, and energy efficient. The guys on the crew that came to do the house “raising” were really incredible, highly skilled, and wonderful to work with. Our project manager Derek was attentive and supportive even in the midst of labor shortages and lumber shortages and an assortment of other obstacles we faced building a house in the height of Covid. The nine foot ceilings and expansive windows create a sense of openness and feeling truly integrated into the natural landscape around us. We highly recommend Unity if you are looking for energy efficiency, beautiful design work, high quality materials, and a great support staff to guide you through the process.

Innovative design and strategic thinking all the way through the process. They worked with us closely to modify a design to meet our need for a smaller footprint to one of their existing designs we liked (the Zum) and it's amazing. A special shout out to Tedd Benson and Bill Holtz for their ingenuity and creative thinking. Every aspect was considered to make sure it would continue to be a tight envelope and energy efficient.

Rachel was incredible (and patient) helping us design our kitchen and select all finishes. Unity's materials are top-notch as are the awesome team that constructed our home so quickly and efficiently. A big shout out and thank you goes to Hans, Tommy, Sean, and Albert - our fantastic building team. And like all construction projects - clear and honest communication are imperative for the success of a project and happy clients with no budget surprises – kudos to Mark and Beth in that regard.

Our Project Manager, Beth, has been and continues to be stellar – always patient, knowledgeable, informative, and kept us on top of all aspects of net-zero and pre-fab intricacies. She has gone above and beyond and we are forever grateful.

We'd give Unity ten stars if possible. We highly recommend working with Unity Homes...period.

Our experience with Unity was outstanding, from start to finish. It exceeded our expectations; both of the product, a beautiful, energy efficient home, and the process of creating it. The people we worked with at every stage of development were knowledgeable and incredibly helpful. We were given cost estimates and presented with options to stay within our budget. The result is a welcoming and comfortable home that we love. The quality of the materials used is impressive and we are grateful to have a home that is so efficient in this age of deepening environmental concerns. We can honestly say we enjoyed the process of creating our home and meeting so many wonderful people committed to sustainability.

We can't say enough good things about the people at Unity Homes. We are extremely pleased with our home. Unity made the 'Zum' design work on a very challenging lot. I would highly recommend them!

My husband and I would love to build a Unity home but after speaking with Alison about pricing and getting the run around from her and her making us feel like we were clueless and idiots we chose to walk away from building with this company.
We only really wanted to know why if we had a foundation instead of a slab why it had a price tag of $70000.00 that is correct $70000.00 more. She would not give us the reasons as to why it was going to cost so much other than they outsourced the work and it only would have 8" of thickness and had to have timber frames for the columns. There is nothing special about the foundation that would warrant this kind of pricing to be so extreme!
Also when we questioned the pricing Alison politely stated that they did not want to do business with us !!!!
I wonder if the President knows that he lost a prospective buyer of his product because of the way she treats certain customers who ask important questions????

We started planning to build our retirement home with the Unity team probably in 2016. The planning process was thorough and competently handled.. We had decided on the "Tempo package"-- to be our own GC for the sitework and finish work for the project--- but when we got off-track on the sitework, the Unity guys stepped in to give us the help we needed, albeit fee-for-service. They constructed the shell for our home in November, 2017, and after a year we had managed the finish work ourselves and moved in. Throughout the entire building process, our project manager was attentive and readily available. We can and do recommend Unity Building Technologies to anyone and everyone. It was a pleasurable experience.

My wife and I had an excellent experience building a Tradd with Unity Homes this past year.  We opted for the shell only package and worked with a local GC to accomplish the site and finishing work.  We visited the main office several times, saw the timber shop, and toured the factory during the process and were impressed at every stop along the way.  Both Project Managers we worked with had great communication and good attention to detail, and Unity's estimated timelines for design, manufacturing, and installation were true to life for our project.  The install crew was personable and hardworking and it is obvious the pride the Unity team takes in their work.
Our finished home is airy, efficient, comfortable and everything we were hoping it would be.  The building science and timber frame were the notable selling points for me, while my wife most appreciates the light-filled open concept and focus on functional design.  If you are building a new construction home and prioritizing quality and efficiency, you would be wise to consider Unity Homes for your project.

I'm a homeowner builder with a background in building energy efficient homes. After years of developing a piece of property on our own, my wife and I decided that we were not going to build our home. We first designed a passive house home ourselves and quickly discovered it was going to be out of our budget. That's when we started looking at prefabricated panelized net zero homes.

We spoke to all the northeast players, but it became clear almost immediately that Unity was going to win our business based on three things.

1. Customer service. They were the only company with fast, thoughtful, empathetic responses. This pattern continued with everyone we dealt with, over hundreds of emails, dozens of phone calls, all the way to the build crew.

2. Value. They were the lowest bid. Not because they had the cheapest product, but because they are clever about balancing the efficiency of the home with cost, and have their process down to a science.

3. Product and process. Unity is a real company that puts its money where its mouth is. They have 2 incredible facilities. Factories, actually, with all the high tech automation equipment you never knew existed. This production process really shines when you watch them assemble your home inside of a week where every piece is a perfect fit.

They won the business of a highly opinioned, detail oriented, emotional do it yourselfer and did nothing but put my mind at ease and impress the whole way through.

My husband and I built a Unity home - we completed it and moved in last month. I have never been inside a home that is as comfortable and efficient and lovely as our new home - we absolutely love it. Equally important, the entire Unity team was professional, responsive, and went above and beyond to resolve any issues that came up along the way. Our local builder was also impressed with the high quality of the "shell" fabricated and erected by Unity. Thanks to Unity Homes for an incredibly transparent process, a highly knowledgable and skilled team, and for making our dream come true.

Unity Homes provided me with all the support, inspiration and dedication that I needed to build a small Nano cottage, serving as my own General Contractor. I purchased the "shell package", and the Unity team members were professional, knowledgable, and competent in providing me with answers to my questions and information that I needed to complete my project. I can’t overstate my satisfaction with our Unity home. I’ve heard that saying “build a house, lose a spouse,” but Unity provides just the right amount of parameters and choices, so that we got exactly what worked for us without being overwhelmed by the process. We were inspired by friends of ours who built a Bensonwood home (Bensonwood and Unity are sister companies) and raved about their team and Bensonwood’s dedication to leaving as small a footprint as possible – every aspect of the building process as well as the home itself, and this is our experience with Unity as well. Finally, they took the time to meet with us afterwards to see what they could improve upon (not much!).

[Edit, 6/3/18] I visited a Unity Homes open house today. The home was handed over to the owners last January and was based on the Xyla platform. It appeared well-built, was very nicely finished and had the tell-tale signs of being highly energy efficient. The Unity Homes staff were very approachable and eager to answer questions. I think I spent 10-15 minutes talking with a member of the sales team, and close to 1/2 hour with the project manager. They DID apologize personally for the experience my mother had. So far, so good. I think Unity Homes has returned to being one of the top few builders my parents are considering.

[Original Post] Today my 78 year old mother called Unity Homes and was treated very poorly. She is sharp, but not very internet savvy, so I am writing in her stead. She is visiting western Massachusetts from the West coast, and intends to move to the Pioneer Valley area within a few months. She drove several hours out of her way to visit Unity homes. When she got to Walpole NH, just a couple of miles down the road from Unity Homes, she gave them a call. She hoped, at most, to meet someone in person, express her interest in Unity's services, and maybe pick up some information.
The call was answered by a woman who appeared to be dead-set against providing any of the above. Not only was my mother's brief drop-in unwelcome, but there wasn't anyone who could talk to her over the phone, either. Nor could anyone call her back any time in the next few days, while she was still in the area. Perhaps a salesman could get back to her in about a week, but it sounded like he would be doing her a great favor in responding. Was any printed information available? Everything my mother needed to know, she was told, could be found on the Unity Homes website. No printed brochures were available...not even a business card.

I work in healthcare. If my organization receives anything less than a five star rating, we are concerned, and find out why. Any less than four, and we bend over backwards to resolve the issue. If I were to provide the type of customer service which Unity Homes gave my mother today, I would be fired.
