Turnstone has done an excellent job renovating my beach home. A complete exterior renovation requires dozens of decisions and inevitably involves adjustments and corrections. Turnstone was not only a pleasure to work with because of their professionalism but also because of their determination to resolve unforeseen issues and ensure customer satisfaction. Much of the credit goes to the GC (Noah) and his deputy (Ronnie) on the ground on a daily basis

Building a custom home is a bit daunting, especially when you haven’t done anything similar previously, and aren’t sure exactly what you want. The Turnstone team is top-notch; Julie, Erik, Lisa, Kat, Mike and Don were instrumental in designing and constructing my dream home. They made the project much less stressful than it would have been otherwise, and helped guide me through all of the necessary decisions.

When asked for alternate ideas on the existing design or for additional options that weren’t part of the original design, they promptly provided options and associated costs to make the decision process easier. Not only Turnstone, but many of the third-party partners also went above and beyond. (Yvonne at The Tile Market of Delaware).

Turnstone delivered a quality product and on time. If I were to ever build again, I would happily use Turnstone, again.

Turnstone was consistently enthusiastic about the project even when the dog days of the build kicked in. They were eager and willing to work with us on big picture ideas and small personal touches. We didn’t want a house just like all the others. They came through for us.

Pro’s:
The build project manager was attentive and always approachable. The build design, supply ordering and building teams worked well together. Even though it is a custom build Turnstone worked with us to maximize our ROI. They looked for options when items became too expensive and counsel us when our whims challenged our budget.

Building during the pandemic was challenging with wild fluctuations in prices and availability. The contracting and communication around those issues were fair and reasonable.

Con’s:
Fixture selection and interior design was a challenge due to some unforeseen circumstances within Turnstone team. While that wasn’t the best part of the experience, the critical job of ordering and problem solving selection headed up by Lisa Newnom was excellent.

Communication of timelines was a recurring problem. We are building in one of the country’s hottest home building areas. Access to trades people was good but demand was a constant strain on finishing. They could have managed expectations better in this area but it was a minor issue.

Overall it was an excellent experience. I would build with them again without hesitations

We recently built a home with Turnstone and could not be happier. We have built 6 homes in our lifetime, and this was by far the best experience. Harvey and the team are first class. I would recommend them without any hesitation.

Turnstone did an extensive renovation for us that involved re-doing most of the interior (new baths, new kitchen, new flooring throughout, and reconfiguring the layout to be more open), adding a new deck and screened in porch and an extension to the kitchen, among many other things. We had a very good experience. Throughout the renovation, Turnstone was responsive, helpful and easy to work with. They took care of the site (clean) and the work was done well. We are very pleased with the results.

We couldn’t be happier with our “down to the studs” whole-house renovation by Turnstone Builders. The design and finishes are just what we were looking for and the house is barely recognizable compared to before. It’s the perfect facelift that it so desperately needed. The Turnstone team was extremely helpful at every step in the process… all true professionals with a great design sense! They made multiple suggestions during the process and the final product is even better than we imagined. I can’t say enough about our project manager, Morgan. We’ve done many new builds and major renovations over the years and I can say, unequivocally, that he’s the best PM we have ever dealt with. He had great ideas on how to tweak the design in the field that only comes with years of experience, attention to detail, and a thorough and thoughtful approach. Whenever an issue in the field arose, Morgan communicated promptly, clearly, and with a set of options to move forward. And he was always on the lookout for ways to save a little money here and there. I have a great deal of trust and respect for Morgan and the Turnstone team, and I don’t hesitate at all recommending them with a full five stars.

This fall we will be celebrating 2 years in our custom home built by Turnstone Custom Home (TCH)! . We interviewed several builders when we started this journey—-and after meeting with Harvey and his staff, we knew they were a match for us.

We were amazed with Eric, the designer—-who was such a good listener that after just 3 meetings he had the drawings that we approved for our build! Also, the Selections Coordinator Lisa was on top of every detail!

We had done many home renovations over our lifetime …and communication was very important to us. Throughout the build….both in the highs and lows of building a house during a pandemic! (which we don’t recommend)—-Harvey and Morgan, our project manager, always answered our calls & texts—and met with us when requested. Yes there were frustrations and delays—-and unexpected ‘weather’ events—-but we got through them as a team.

The quality of the workmanship provided by their sub-contractors was superb—-from our floors to our HVAC system. There are things we have ‘tweaked’ since living in the house, but we continue to use many of their subcontractors. And Morgan—
continues to answer our calls and texts when we have questions! And he will problem solve with us if we are trying to add something to our build! We often say if we were starting again—-we would use TCH.

Our new custom home in Rehoboth Beach was completed by Turnstone in July 2024. We were looking for a Design/Build company who could provide us with a coordinated, one-stop solution for both the design and construction of our home. Turnstone hit the mark in all aspects! They were very receptive to our suggestions and created a beautiful custom design, delivered our home on time and on budget, with great craftsmanship.

We wanted a contemporary design and not something with a standard look. Erik’s design team worked closely with us to create a design that is very modern, yet interesting, with tremendous curb appeal. We requested several design revisions from the original conceptual design, and Erik updated the plans quickly and professionally.

Communication is paramount when building a one-of-a-kind home. Turnstone’s construction management system is the perfect tool to keep everyone aligned throughout the process. There are so many decisions to make when building a custom home, and their system kept all the communications organized and easily accessible. Daily job logs with photos kept us in the loop even when we were out of the area. We felt like we were aligned with the team throughout the process.

The entire team was outstanding to work with. Both Erik and Harvey took special ownership and visited the site even before we had a plan. They offered several valuable inputs and suggestions before we began the process. But we owe a special debt of gratitude to our project manager Mike, who is a first-class professional and was instrumental in driving the project and integrating the various moving parts. Mike also helped find solutions to all our questions and suggestions. Our selection coordinator Lisa was patient, knowledgeable and indispensable in helping us make what seemed like 1,000 choices. The kitchen and bath team provided the kitchen of our dreams. Even the accounting team, particularly Dave was accessible, accurate and very responsive to our inquiries in a timely fashion.

Designing and building a unique home is a complex but enjoyable journey. We would highly recommend Turnstone to be your partner on that journey as they stand by you all the time throughout the process.

We recently moved into our new home in Rehoboth Beach built by Turnstone Custom Homes and are so pleased with the build. We love our new house, and it was great working with the team from start to finish. Turnstone showed care and listened to our specific and unique requests. It was our dream to build a net zero energy house and Turnstone delivered! The house is super insulated, termite and fireproof using ICF (insulated concrete forms) and is almost completely powered by solar panels. Turnstone was easy to work with – allowing us to use our preferred vendors from the solar panels to the tiling. Turnstone has a strong interest and experience in building environmentally friendly and energy efficient homes. They also helped us find landscapers to develop a storm water management system with a water permeable driveway, rain garden and a cistern that collects water from the gutters to use for plant irrigation. When there was a possible issue with drainage on the lot, Turnstone worked with the community and local government to ensure that all concerns were resolved including going to town meetings and monitoring the area after storms.

From design to completion, our project team was excellent. There was good communication with Turnstone; our questions were quickly and thoroughly answered. Erik did a wonderful job designing the house layout and was creative and accommodating to our requests. Our selections manager, Lisa, was amazing and so organized, kept us on task and always offered options. Our on-site coordinator, Branden, was also great; we FaceTimed to review questions ad hoc and he was always reliable. He is an experienced professional and cared about the work. Before we moved in, the storm door was damaged by high winds, and Turnstone covered the replacement. The company is talented and resourceful. When considering a roof top deck, our PM Morgan sent up a drone to take pictures of the view to see if it was worth the effort... it was! They were flexible in quickly designing and providing a quote for this add on project.

As is inevitable with any new construction, there were a couple of hiccups in our build, but Turnstone was honest in relaying issues and tried to stay on time and on budget. The negatives were: (1) the house took longer to build than expected (some COVID related resource issues) but we didn't want to cut corners or rush the job so it was o.k., and (2) there was a bit of turnover in personnel so some communication was lost and it took some extra time to make sure we were on the same page, but the new staff are all solid.

Overall, Turnstone is a responsible, knowledgeable, resourceful and experienced custom home builder. We would recommend Turnstone to any family looking to create a new custom dream home! The company is diligent in delivering a high-quality product and the staff cares - which is the most important!

I was overall very happy with the project (total master bathroom renovation) from start to finish. I liked that Turnstone has a separate group just for kitchen and bath redesign and the team was very attentive and easy to work with. The designers walked me through every aspect of the project, personally accompanied me to pick out products, and were always willing to answer my questions and make suggestions and adjustments. The project manager was great and truly had my best interests in mind at all times. The contractors were all high quality and friendly. There were some delays when contractors were on other jobs, but this was a minor issue for the most part. When I needed a new roof towards the end of the project, I even asked Turnstone to manage it for me because I knew it would be done right, and I was pleased with the outcome.

From conception to completion our experience with Harvey’s team at Turnstone was a pleasure. We were particularly impressed with the excellent communication throughout the building process. When any issues or changes arose, the team always approached the situation with the mindset of giving us the home of our dreams. Any change orders were handled fairly. We relied upon their friendly and capable staff with selections of everything from lighting to kitchen cabinets.

If you value your sanity DO NOT hire this company! I could easily echo the negative reviews and add photos and written evidence of our experience. The management here is non existent. The COO finally took over as my site manager but he told me himself he never had time to visit the site. I felt total disrespect as a client with no schedule or construction information after my first manager quit for health reasons. The job took 3 + years for a renovation. All the telephone land lines were removed without permission. Refused to reinstall. The owner refused to come to my house to see issues. He refused to read past history on their own app. My project was over 500,000 over budget and the CFO quit. Real problems within this company. Run away and don’t consider.

I have laid it all to rest for my own health. I am currently having outside vendors to fix all problems.

We built two homes with Turnstone starting in 2020, until we fired them for breach of contract last year. We’ve been in the midst of an extensive redo of both houses (with a new contractor) with great financial burden, so I have decided to share my experience with others in hope others will do some due diligence before engaging with them. The issues are almost too egregious and numerous to note.

That said, the main issues were contracting for a custom kitchen/built-in closets and getting boxed cabinets which were installed with untenable damage, color variations throughout, and missing components.

Our custom wood siding was installed outside the manufacturer’s installation guidelines, resulting in one entire house needing to be resided with extensive modifications to the installation, necessitating the addition of 2” wood firing to attach the vertical siding. The wood refiring has changed the envelope of the house, which required removing windows, changing the internal window sills, retiling the bathroom sills, pulling out the external electrical panels and outlets to meet the new envelope, etc.

They installed four custom metal panel windows and doors, also with considerable damage; they leaked, the metal rusted from all the installation damage, wouldn’t close, etc. Most of the windows in one house weren’t flashed and our largest (and most expensive windows) were installed incorrectly. Between the siding debacle and the leaking windows, we’ve had to remove or reinstall or replace almost all the windows. (One window came in white and they actually painted it black instead of replacing it with the correct window--no kidding. )

The HVAC was installed below grade and created extensive leaking in both basements.

Finally, the patio drain required per the plans was not installed. We had to remove the patio, install/dig a large drain, and replace the patio to move the water away from the house.

I have another long list of items, but these are the main issues. Each validated by both an experienced and reputable engineer and our current contractor. To date, we have spent over $525,000 correcting the issues. This does not include things that were unfinished, only done incorrectly. We have estimated it will take another $150,000 to finish the project.

I’m in the midst of arbitration with Turnstone, so you might be asking why I am voicing this concern before things are resolved. Just today I have talked to three people who had similar experiences with Turnstone. It’s not just the workmanship that’s of concern, but the consistent way they’ve not stood their work, gas-light people who had valid concerns, and left clients with sub-par solutions. They want to blame their issues on their clients, or COVID, or vendors, but it’s become so obvious that Turnstone is shaking and jiving in hopes of avoiding the enviable responsibly that comes with living up to their promises.

My only hope is that my review offers other clients a moment ask more questions and consider all the reviews.

And pay special attention folks--notice how Turnstone responds to this feedback. Like Shana, will they tell me to go to a corner and do some introspection...or will they take their own advice?

We had a great experience with Turnstone Custom Homes building a new home for us in north Bethany Beach. This was a complicated project in many ways, with an unusual and intricate design with stair towers and rotundas, significant wetlands issues, and (if truth be told) very demanding owners. TCH was with us every step of the way. They know the home construction business thoroughly, have excellent subcontractors (a challenge on the DE shore), administer the project very well, communicate effectively, and are both highly responsive and responsible. Perhaps the most important thing we can say is that they really cared about building a home of exceptional quality and were always eager and deeply committed to the project. A new home build involves many people on the builder team, but special mention should be made first of Morgan Garms, our project manager. Morgan is a great project lead, knows construction from A to Z, is unflappable when dealing with the many inevitable issues that arise on a complicated project, repeatedly came up with practical solutions to challenges, has a keen sense of design and appearance, and is a highly interesting and decent person. The rest of the team, from TCH executives Harvey Ryan, Erin Bagnatori, and Dave Epps, to Mike Reynolds (who served as assistant PM and deserves much credit for the success of the build), to Lisa Newnon and Kat Angus in the office handling selections and design, to Branden Cottingham and Peter Rusta and Ronnie in the field making things perfect, were all terrific and very good to work with. A home construction project can be a joy or a nightmare, but it always is a journey. You should make sure you make that trip with people who not only know what they are doing but are also decent, interesting and fun. We cannot recommend TCH highly enough to be your chosen partner on your home building journey.

Turnstone Custom Homes completed a new home for us and we couldn’t be more pleased ! Their team worked with us through every detail from the design stage to the finishing touches. We love the timeless design of the home and their trade mark interior trim. Building during the Covid pandemic was challenging but Turnstone maintained their price point and schedule. We would definitely build with them again and give them a 5 star rating without hesitation.

We highly recommend Turnstone Custom Homes. We recognized the need for renovations, as well as the great potential, when we purchased our home. Living here full time for a year helped to identify issues, focus on our short term and long term goals and envision the age-friendly home that would allow us to age in place until our final days. We selected Turnstone after Harvey and his team visited the property and are grateful that we did. They understood our vision and goals. The project was complex with three components: 1) renovation of the first floor living area and master bath, 2) replacement and expansion of the deck, including installing a new hot tub, upgrading the front porch and other exterior areas, and 3) converting an existing pole barn into livable space. As the project unfolded, the need and/or desire for additional work became clear. Each modification to the original plans, including options and cost, were carefully reviewed with our project manager, Morgan. When stressors appeared, as they will with a major renovation, Morgan was always there with his calm demeanor and reassurance. We were confident knowing Christian, our supervisor, was on-site, especially when we were away. Designing the new kitchen, great room and pantry was a critical component. While a change in staff occurred after our initial design meetings, it was a godsend, as we had the opportunity to work with Haley and onsite supervisor Peter. Choosing selections can be confusing, but Lisa is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful in assisting, as the task can become overwhelming. We are grateful to our friends at Turnstone who have become part of our family...Harvey, Morgan, Christian, Lisa, Haley, Peter… as well as the subcontractors and the workers, who worked tirelessly to make our vision for an age-friendly home a reality.

Overall we had an excellent experience with Turnstone during our teardown and new build in from August 2022 to May 2023.

We originally met Harvey and team during an open house weekend where they were showcasing some of their homes being built in Rehoboth. We knew then we wanted to work with Turnstone even before we had purchased a property for the build. Fast forward a year and after purchasing a property - we reached back out Harvey to formally discuss/plan for the new build. While the backlog for starting the build was approximately a year to get started, this was ok with us which gave us time to design the home and waiting a year after purchase of the property also avoided having to pay an additional tax.

Turnstone has an excellent in house architect, Eric. Eric quickly took the inspiration photos and floorplans we shared with him and came up with a design we fell in love with. Budgeting of the design was completed and within our budget which allowed the build to move forward.

Project manager Morgan and site superintendent Mike took really good care of us during the build process. We were always informed and developed good communication with both. As with any construction project there were a few unforeseen issues during construction - but Mike and Morgan came up with thoughtful solutions to overcome these challenges (i.e. range hood make up air). I can't thank Mike and Morgan enough for their professional manor in dealing with town officials and the one unfriendly neighbor.

Haley was a huge help with the kitchen design and Lisa did an amazing job keeping track of all of the different finishes, assisting with selections of such things as garage doors and fireplaces and was a huge help in keeping track of owner supplied materials - thank you so much!

We are thrilled with our new home and the best part is the build ended up coming in UNDER BUDGET!

We used Turnstone for a major renovation, which included adding an elevator and gutting and expanding our kitchen. Virtually every room in the house was impacted requiring our moving out for 4 months. The quality of construction was top notch. The Turnstone team was extremely creative, responsive and solution driven. They pushed to complete the job in 4 months., even though they were skeptical that they would be able to meet our deadline of Memorial Day weekend. While I was prepping guest bedrooms for our holiday weekend guest, the house was swimming with painters and appliance installers and carpenters. The project Manager took vacation right before memorial day, so the company president Harvey, spent several hours a day over seeing our job! We were very pleased with Turnstone Custom Homes and would highly recommend them to anyone! Such an amazing crew.

I cannot say enough nice things about Turnstone. We had a very unique situation in that my father contracted with them to build an addition on a house in the Rehoboth Beach Country Club and he passed away before construction could complete. The company worked closely with my brother and I to ensure work continued and complete my Dad's vision. The work they did turned out absolutely beautiful and they made sure everything was completed. Also, the communication throughout the project from the entire team was consistent and timely. Our foreman was fabulous, detail oriented and pushed to ensure work completed on time. If you are looking to remodel, add an addition or need any home work done you will have a wonderful, professional experience with Turnstone.

We love our Turnstone Custom home! We had a building lot in Rehoboth and planned on building a house there. One day, we were driving on Route 1 and saw the sign for TCH and we are really glad we did! This was our first custom home and TCH made us feel comfortable throughout the process from our first meeting with Harvey, who was terrific and patient in explaining the whole process. We had some general ideas about what we wanted and Erik, the Designer, put together a fantastic design that we tweaked together. We had some issues with the County and with the HOA and TCH helped us navigate through all of that, including some design changes that Erik had to make. TCH uses an online construction portal, which is very user-friendly and after learning how to use it, made communications really easy. We don’t live in Delaware and seeing the regular construction updates and photos was really exciting! (When we asked TCH how often we needed to be there in person, they said we don’t really need to come regularly; the portal will provide the updates we need. But, of course, we came regularly and were so excited to see all the progress.) Our main point of contact once construction began was Morgan, the Project Manager, who even did our electrical walk-through in a windy, winter snowstorm, the likes of which I don’t think Rehoboth has ever seen. Morgan was fantastic throughout, was easily accessible through the portal and through text messages, and was calm, comforting, and patient when we needed it! What was very impressive was that Morgan pointed things out to us that needed attention that we didn’t even notice. Like with every project, there were post-construction punch list items and warranty issues, but Morgan and the team have been responsive and diligent in working through those. Building a new home from scratch was a challenge where we had to pick out every single item in the house, but working with Lisa, the Selections Coordinator, made things so much easier. We found a light fixture we wanted in Asheville, NC, and Lisa even worked with them long distance to make sure all of the specs were correct. She was a great asset to our job! Working with TCH was a really wonderful experience, from the welcome that we always received from the receptionist, to the availability of beverages in the office, to the design of the house we wanted, and to the construction team. We will probably not be building another custom home in our lifetime, but if we did, we would not hesitate to contact TCH! Thanks so much to all of the fabulous team there!!

I've had the pleasure of cleaning multiple custom homes for Turnstone. Each home that I go into is really like a work of art. I can always see the homeowners vision as soon as I enter the newly built or remodeled areas. They're always a pleasure to work with!

We chose Turnstone to remove a room from our house and add a deck and patio around a pool. It was a complicated undertaking and they worked really hard to get in done on time, on budget and with the fewest hassles. The result was amazing. Definitely recommend!

We engaged Turnstone to renovate the first floor of our Rehoboth Beach home. Harvey Ryan and Mike McDowell developed a plan to turn a dark, dated, columned abode into a bright, open, modern home. Their ideas were brilliant and the results are fantastic. We are hoping that the final results of our kitchen will also prove impressive.

Turnstone builders built our home in Rehoboth Beach last year. My wife and I had never built a new home before and it turned out that Rehoboth Beach has some of the strictest zoning and building restrictions in the country. Turnstones in-house building designer worked tirelessly with my wife to get a design that she wanted for a new home.
Our project manager Morgan was fantastic. He guided us through the project every step of the way .answered all of our questions and pretty much was there for us 24 seven we are extremely grateful for the time and work he put in to support us.

We were more than impressed at the way the leadership team managed the building of our dream home, from our first planning meeting to moving in. Our selections coordinator, Lisa, kept us informed of the due dates for the selections for the house so that the products were ordered, delivered and ready for the installers. I recently experienced a persistent leak in my Dewey Beach home. The leak appeared to be coming from a deck over a living space at the rear of the home. I asked Turnstone to look at it for me. They first attempted some minor patches to see if that would solve the problem at minimal expense to me. It did not. Then Turnstone brought in the A-Team, led by Senior Project Manager Morgan G. He also took an iterative approach, again trying to stop the leak without doing a lot of demo and spending a lot of my money. It didn’t work. The home is older, and it was time to tear stuff out and get to the bottom of the problem. That revealed several underlying problems. Morgan had the corrective work done very quickly and efficiently. The workmanship is excellent, and the pricing was fair. And my house doesn’t leak!

Morgan was a delight to work with. I never had to follow up with him – he was always one step ahead of me. He kept me informed, explained what he was finding, sending pictures and proposed solutions. In short, he was very proactive - which is rare these days – especially at the beach.

I have lived and worked in Sussex for decades and am very familiar with Lower Slower Delaware (LSD) syndrome. LSD syndrome is characterized by a high level of attention when you first hire someone, followed by a rapidly deteriorating interest in you or your project. No-shows and unreturned calls, texts and emails are par for the course. Not so with Turnstone.

I cannot say enough about the professionalism and responsiveness of Turnstone in general, and Morgan in particular. My advice - if you’re having house troubles, avoid LSD syndrome and start with the responsive A-Team at Turnstone!

Team Turnstone coached us masterfully through the entire process of building our new home in Rehoboth Beach, DE. We didn’t want a builder that said “yes” to our wildest dreams only to find out, in the realities of seaside living, that we made a mistake. They weren’t afraid to tell us when any part of our carefully-curated plan created an issue for our forever home. But they always gave us a selection of alternatives that enabled us to realize our vision without compromising safety, quality or the ever-persnickety Rehoboth building codes. They warned us there would be hard times throughout the construction process, jokingly calling it the “pit of despair”. And we can honestly say, despite a few frustrations (mostly due to building a home during a pandemic), we never fell into that pit. The Turnstone team went out of their way to ensure we were aligned, aware, happy and confident every step of the way. We knew this home would be amazing. We had no idea how amazing it would be; how much people would stop as they walk to the beach to comment on its beauty; how much our family and friends would catch their breath every time they arrived. In fact, we still catch our breath every day we wake up here and our first words of the day are usually “we live here!”. This house is not the one of our dreams. It’s better. And it is the team at Turnstone that built our dreams into an even more beautiful reality.

I don't write many reviews but I felt compelled to write one for our home builder Turnstone Custom Homes in Rehoboth Beach. When it came time to design and build our custom beach home in North Shores, we really had no idea of the enormity of the undertaking. It is one thing when you already have a home designed or at least have a good idea of what you want. Ours was a blank sheet of paper, and the range of home styles that caught our eye was very diverse at the outset.
Do we hire an architect and then find a builder? Or find a Design/Builder who can handle it all? We knew one of the owners at Turnstone and decided to listen to their proposal to design and build our home. We are very glad we did.
Their lead designer, Erik, is a creative genius! The design we settled on (after many, many iterations) is as unique as we are, meets all our lifestyle needs and fits beautifully in the surroundings. Every time we pull up, we get chills! The speed with which Erik was able to process changes and help us explore ideas really sets Turnstone apart from other home designers.
We made dozens of changes during construction, often at the suggestion of our Turnstone project management team or Ed Albers from DCOR, who we hired to help pull the whole look together. We received many great suggestions and acted on most of them. Turnstone’s cloud-based construction management portal made processing all these changes a breeze, even though we were 100 miles away during most of the build. The daily job logs and photos as well as the selections, budget and scheduling modules kept us totally informed along the way.
Our home is fabulous! The final product exceeded our expectations on so many levels. Also, we've been recently contacted by "Delaware Beach Life" magazine to do an article about our new home and possibly have it featured on it's summer issue. They also want to include our home on their popular Cottage Tour this summer.
Overall, we feel that we received a very fair value for the money we spent, especially because the cost to design our home was included in the builder’s costs. Who knows what we would have paid an outside architect, especially with all the changes we made in the field?
The Turnstone Team is highly professional, from the receptionist to the CEO. In addition to a new home, we feel like we made new friends during this process. Most importantly, we trust the Turnstone team to be fair, open and honest with us. We know they will be there for us over the long haul, resolving any issues that might arise. We recommend Turnstone Custom Homes without reservation to anyone who is hiring a home builder in Delaware.

After interviewing several local builders and receiving three proposals, we selected Turnstone Custom Homes to build our Rehoboth Beach home. Their price was not the lowest, but the proposal was complete and we felt it offered the best value. We hired an Architect to design our home and TCH was able to recommend a few changes to reduce the cost, before we even applied for the building permit. The construction process presented challenges along the way, as every project will. TCH promptly responded to the challenges, avoiding delays and excessive cost overruns. The project management program that TCH uses, provides daily communication and updates regarding the building progress. We were living out of state for most of the build, but never felt like we were out of touch. Our project manager was superb and went above and beyond his standard job requirements. Our home was delivered within a week of the originally scheduled date, despite some delays during the construction process. The minor punch list and warranty items have been or will be corrected soon. We are thrilled to be living in our dream home, thanks to Turnstone Custom Homes.

4.5 stars. We had not planned on building a home. We wanted a resale but there was limited inventory. In addition, what comes on the market is often limited in one way or another. After our first meeting with Harvey and a look at a few of Turnstone’s homes, we knew that this was what we wanted to do. We found their attention to detail appealing. We made some changes and Turnstone was able to accommodate us. In addition, we are quite happy to have new HVAC and a home that is well insulated. In any project of this nature, there are bound to be a few hiccups. Our project was no different, but Morgan and his team were very capable and took care of everything. The staff is accessible and easy to work with. We have since moved into our home and couldn’t be happier.

We have just started our process with Turnstone Custom Homes and have been so happy with our decision to hire them. All people part of the team from Harvey, Erik, Stephanie and Erin have all been so helpful and responsive as we design our home. We can't wait to see our home come to life over the course of the next year!

I had a wonderful experience with the staff from Turnstone Custom Homes. We had a terrible situation with water damage in our home in Lewes from burst pipes throughout the home. We met with Erin who navigated us through the process. His knowledge and expertise were amazing! The quality of work and the attention to detail throughout the process was fantastic! My experience with Turnstone Custom Homes was unusual in that my interest was not in building a beach home for my family, but rather as a speculative investment for a partnership I manage. I was aware that the property market in Rehoboth and Lewes was strong and sensed an opportunity. Living far from the area, and being very busy with my work, I was not in a position to do the research necessary to make an informed decision. This is where the principals at Turnstone were invaluable. They have the decision support tools in place to quickly evaluate potential investments and the market intelligence to weigh the risks and potential rewards of various locations. I think I was most impressed when Harvey Ryan, the CEO, recommended AGAINST proceeding with the first opportunity that we studied, even though it would mean an immediate construction contract for them.

When we did agree on a solid opportunity, the Turnstone people handled all the details while always keeping me informed. The home they designed was an immediate hit with the local Realtors, and the home went under contract about half way through construction, with final settlement happening this week. The partnership earned a strong return on invested capital, with a minimal amount of work required of me. The innovative financial structure we used insured that Turnstone was always incentivized to maximize the returns.

We love our house that Turnstone built!!! Now that we are in, it is everything that we hoped for when we first sketched out the plan. We spent a lot of time dreaming about building and revised out plans many times before settling on exactly what we wanted, but didn't really know how to select a builder; and we were very nervous about the whole process. I can now say that we are extremely happy that we went with Turnstone. They were very committed to doing a first rate job and dealt with the unexpected issues along the way to keep things on track without taking shortcuts. Committing such a large sum of money and putting ourselves in the hands of people we just met was very nerve-wracking so the fact that the Turnstone team kept making sure that they stayed true to the plan, kept in communication, and made sure to produce high quality workmanship gave us a great deal of confidence that the final result would be perfect. Back in 2012 my fiancé and I fell in love with a property in Lewes Delaware. A friend and real estate agent of ours recommended Turnstone Builders after we bought the land. My now wife and I are two years into our first home build and can't be more happy with the whole experience!! Working with Harvey and Donnie was just an overall great experience. We looked at some other builders but when we met Turnstone and sat at the idea table we both had a great first impression.
