Top Notch did a great job on two of our condo association's units, replacing the roofs. Each duplex was finished in a single day, very fast and very professional. And, we took quotes from 3 different companies, and Top Notch actually came in lowest - not that that was our only consideration. I have already recommended them to someone in the past two days who told me they need a roof replacement. I highly recommend them.

From start to finish my experience with Top Notch Roofing was excellent. Gabe & Jade showed up to look at the job and give an estimate on the project and they were extremely detailed in checking out all aspects of the project both big and small. The project manager Andrew was extremely detail oriented and ran a great crew of workers, who are some of the hardest workers I've ever seen. Communication was always clear and accurate. They replaced both the roof and the vinyl siding on my house and detached garage, and I couldn't be happier with the work.

Just had my roof replaced by Top Notch. Great experience from initial quote through scheduling and work completion. The people in the office were responsive and clear. Price was fair and competitive among the four bids I received. Job was scheduled and completed 6-weeks after I signed the contract.

I am extremely pleased with the excellent job Top Notch did installing our new roof! They have an outstanding competant staff including the estimator, scheduler, forman and installers. Trees and shrubs were protected and tarps were laid to collect debris. They worked diligently and did a beautiful job cleaning up our property when all was done! I'm thrilled with my new shingle roof installed by Top Notch Roofing Vt. in a day! In the morning crew removed two old roofs and prepared circa 1900 barn boards for "Chateau Green" shingles. It was a joy to watch crew work together to fill and empty wheelbarrows containing debris and blow away dust. Before leaving they took turns searching lawn for nails and pieces of packaging. That my install wasn't their first is evident by smiles and camaraderie. --

During the night of Jan.9, 2024, and a strong winter storm, the wind blew multiple shingles off the roof of our approximately 1200-square-foot ranch home. The roof was replaced just 16 years ago and now we needed a new one. We began our search for a reputable roofing company. After estimates from three good companies, we chose Top Notch Roofing. We are so happy we did. The estimate was reasonable, and we were scheduled for a brand-new roof the week of March 11, 2024.
The winter weather broke just in time for the work to begin on 3/13/24. The crew of 11 men arrived before 7 am and worked continuously all-day stripping, laying down appropriate layers, shingles, flashing, ridge vent, and more. We never heard any yelling or disrespectful speech from anyone. The foremen were attentive, respectful, and kind whenever we engaged in conversation with them. Every person we talked or met with from Top Notch, whether by phone or in person, demonstrated the same attentive kindness to us. By 4:30 pm we were told the crew would complete the clean-up and be finished by 5:30 pm that same day, and they were! The morning after I’d felt like we’d just dreamed that the roofing was already done. And, just in time for our Vermont weather to revert to winter!

I can't imagine a better experience. They gave me a fair price and excellent service. They are really nice people and also talented roofers.

Reached out at the beginning of October to have someone come out for an estimate on installing snow guards. The soonest they could schedule me was the end of the month, but I said that was fine and as long as we could get the work done before the end of the year, I wasn’t worried about it. The woman that I spoke to on the phone said that as long as we accepted the estimate as soon as we received it, that shouldn’t be an issue. The day before the scheduled date, the same woman called and said the estimator couldn’t make it the day they were scheduled, and could they come the following day. I would have much preferred to be here when they were here, because my husband and I had questions about what we were looking to have done, but we were told that if we emailed, we would receive answers from the estimator. I did send that email right after getting off the phone with her, although the company claimed they never received it (I do have a timestamped email showing, however, that it was sent immediately after receiving the rescheduling phone calls). About a week goes by after the rescheduled date, and we never hear back from our estimator, so I reach back out and get told (same woman) via a voicemail that estimates can take one to two weeks to receive but to call back if we still don’t have it. THAT timeframe lapses, and at the end of our third week of waiting I called and left yet another message. I finally hear back almost a full month after our estimate happened, and get told that they are very busy but we are “at the top of the stack.” She (yep, same woman) also didn’t even have down what we were having our estimate done on correctly; she said that we were receiving an estimate for a corrugated roof, when I had been abundantly clear in my previous phone calls that we needed estimates on snow guards. So who even knows if the estimator did it right when he first came out...since we don’t have our estimate I have no way of knowing! I ask for clearer information on a time frame, and expressed concern that now it will be too late to get onto the schedule for the end of the year, and the woman I speak to becomes extremely defensive and says that if I’m unhappy, I should just go find a different company, and then backtracks a bunch saying they never got my email with my questions, that their estimator’s the only one working in the office and he’s really busy, and she’s not the one responsible for scheduling/estimates so she can’t help me with any more information on a time frame. I asked to talk to the person who would be helpful with those questions, and she can’t even give me a clear answer of when THEY would call me back. We are now at the point where even if we do get an estimate from another company, we will not get the snow guards put on our roof in time to beat the first snow of the year. I have no doubt that if “Top Notch” responds to this review, that it will be with a similar degree of defensiveness and denial that I’ve gotten so far rather than ANY admittance of responsibility or dropping the ball, so…not looking forward to that. Look, I understand that things come up, but it is a company’s responsibility to provide clear, honest, and straightforward communication in the event that there is anything that would interfere with a previously agreed-upon timeframe. If they are extra busy because they have lost staff or got more overwhelmed than normal for this time of year, it is their JOB to follow up with pending estimates and customers who have expressed a timeframe that they want work done within and that the company has PROVIDED a time frame for, and say it is taking a little bit longer because of XYZ, you are still on our list, we know that you wanted to get this done, etc. That is simply common sense and good customer service.

If you are at all interested in clear and straightforward communication, as well as prompt scheduling and attention to customer service, I would highly recommend looking elsewhere for a roofing company. I certainly will.

We had a great experience with Top Notch Roofing. 2023 was the rainiest summer in years. They had to juggle lots of weather constraints to get our job done, but they did it. It looks great and they stuck to the original estimate right down to the penny. I recommend them.

These folks were booked out solid, but I was promised a date ten weeks out, and they delivered.
Supplies were dropped off early in the week, and a crew arrived around 7am on the day of installation to start work. They left our property around 3pm and you would never know they were there after they left-- they broomed and magnet-cleared the whole area and our roof looks amazing!

New Year's Day 2023 began with a leak in our 24 year old roof. We consulted every roofer in the area and received bids from 6 of them. Gabe, the project manager from Top Notch Roofing was the most professional so we chose them to replace our roof in May. Throughout the process Gabe has been great about keeping us informed. Andrew, the foreman is knowledgeable and oversaw a crew of 14 who tore off the entire old roof and replaced it in one day! The clean up afterwards was thorough around the exterior of the house and driveway. We made the right choice and are very happy with our beautiful new roof.

We called Top Notch Roofing based on a referal from our Insurance agent after our roof suffered wind damage. Everyone we dealt with at Top Notch, from Jessica at the office to the outstanding team that installed our new roof was polite, professional, curtious and respectful. A very nice group of people to do business with. Plus, they are good at what they do. Gabe in particular was very helpful. We threw a lot of requests his way, including requests for multiple quotes so we could size up our options. He delivered on everything we asked from him. We ended up replacing our damaged shingle roof with corrugated metal and it looks great. Hopefully I will never have to replace my roof again, but if I do I will be calling the folks at Top Notch Roofing.

They care. And it is obvious. I would recommend them 1000 times over. I started my search for a roofing contractor during the pandemic and was universally unimpressed with the bulk of contractors who came to estimate the job. That is, prior to meeting Gabe and the folks at Top Notch. Not only are the competitively priced, but they send an actual roofing expert out for estimating, as opposed to a salesman. I immediately felt was in good hands as he answered all my questions with authority and knowledge. On the job site, the crew was clean, polite, and professional. We did have a few hiccups along the way, which as anyone who has ever done renovation can tell you, is par for the course. These specific hiccups were discontinued products and shipping damages that were simply accidents. Just bad luck that had nothing to do with Top Notch. But it was their reaction to the situation that really won me over. Gabe, the foreman, and Jessica went above and beyond to come to my house on multiple weekends to install skylights because that is the kind of business they operate.

Top Notch Roofing is truly a 5 star company. Dave and his crew were extremely professional and efficient while they were here. They replaced all the rotten plywood and missing flashing and they cleaned up everyday before leaving. The new roof looks amazing! I would highly recommend them for anyone who is in need of a new roof or repairs.

These are the words that describe the work performed by Top Notch Roofing when they replaced our asphalt shingle roof in July, 2022. And, they are super nice people. We heartily recommend Top Notch Roofing!

Had them remove shingle roof and install a metal roof. Found and fixed areas that had water damage. I was getting leaks through some vents in my bathrooms prior to the new roof (reason I wanted the new roof and it was due for replacement anyways) and after had no more leaks even with jeavy rain. I have a metal roof on my garage, which is almost as old as the house with the shingles and it's holding up no problem, so I expect this new roof to as well.

We had a good experience with Top Notch and would use them again. We had a complicated situation with skylights and they took it in stride, unlike other roofing companies we dealt with. When they ran into unexpected rot, they took care of it in a short time frame. The workers were great and left the place immaculate.

Dave and Gabe did a great job on our slate repair, asphalt replacement, and a couple of weird nuances that they really came through for us on. It's been COVID times and scheduling was a little dicey, but they kept us informed and were responsive every step of the way and true to their estimate. The results -- excellent!

I am the president of the condo association in Colchester. This past spring, we were told that we would need to get our roof replaced due to shoddy workmanship from the original builders. After interviewing and getting quotes from several roofers, we decided to go with Top Notch Roofing. Not only was the quote they gave us the most reasonable price, but they also stayed on budget even after many weather-related delays during a time when there is a supply chain shortage. Throughout the whole process they communicated with us regularly and got the job done just before the first big snowfall! I had a relatively simple job of installing a cap on a roof vent. I called a few places who were unable to perform the work. Then I called Top Notch. They were professional from the start. They confirmed they could do it. They called the night before to confirm and again when they were on their way. That is appreciated. The guys showed up in a professional manner. They were nice too. When they completed the job their bill was reasonable. I would use them again. Over many years of using contractors for various projects I know that I need to remember the ones who do do the job right and for a reasonable cost. David and his crew replaced an original barn roof with a new one this summer. The crew did a great job, removing the existing roof, cleaning up all the debris from it and installing the new one. Due to covid, there were unfortunately a few supply issues. David was able to communicate that to me and formulate a plan to complete the project.

The quality of work was outstanding and I have gotten a ton of compliments from people in the community.

I would happily use David and the team again and would recommend them to anyone needing roofing services.

There were a few hiccups in the process of getting my house and garage done but once I got in contact with Dave he was able to accommodate and fix those hiccups. Dave stands by his workmanship and has really good work ethics.

First off I want to say David was easy to work with and responded to emails rather quickly, which was a big plus. We had our 2nd layer of shingles quoted (another thing they did well) and set for an early November 2018 install.

Fast forward to March 2019. Finally after months of back and forth the shingles were installed (as our house was being put on the market for sale). The reason for the 3 stars is simply the huge time gap between our original install date and the actual date the work was done. I completely understand that there are forces of nature that make putting shingles on a roof difficult or even impossible, but after so many months it was hard to not be discouraged.

The work was done quickly and from what I can tell professionally. Could have done without the cigarette stubs in the yard afterward but that is a minor thing.

Dave Smith's "Top Notch Roofing" did my roof 9-yrs ago and then all my neighbors had his crew replace their roofs too. All of us are happy.

I am posting now because Top Notch Roofing just replaced the roof on a small porch I have over my deck. The guys were great and the roof was done and fully cleaned up in one day. The team also installed "gutter screws" on my long (house length) high-up gutter. The next day, we had the 30" snow storm so the new roof was fully tested!
