I hired top notch, one construction to repair my roof. The response was very prompt They were able to address the problem in a timely fashion I was very impressed with the job and very impressed with the clean up. I would highly recommend them.

We never thought about masonry until the chimney needed work. After getting quotes, Claude from Top Notch Chimney stood out. Direct, clear, no hard sell. Simple plan: take the chimney halfway down, replace the top with matching brick.

Midway through, Ramon's crew called. The bricks weren't bonded. Mortar had turned to dust. They could pull it apart by hand. Everything had to come down to the roofline.

Classic pivot: bigger job, higher price. Were we being taken? It wasn't outrageous. When we bought the house five years ago, the chimney was already on its last legs, leaning awkwardly. The finished work answered any remaining doubts. Sharp, solid, well-matched. But what sealed it was after. Ramon's crew spent three more hours cleaning every trace of dust and debris, even checking the neighbor's siding.

That earned them our patio job on the spot. We thought the pillars needed reinforcement. They showed us weak footings instead. So they dug them out, poured proper foundations, and rebuilt from scratch. Beautiful work.

I hired Mike from Top Notch 1 to line the chimney for my furnace. His crew did a wonderful job and pointed up my chimney and the front of my fireplace while they were here. When they were through I gave their head man a check for the work, but by my mistake I wrote it for $500 too much. When I called them a couple of days later they promptly sent me a check for $500. Top Notch-1 replaced damaged pre-fab panels. Mike came by to figure out the problem and the best way to go about repairing the damage. We agreed upon the estimate and then a team of three was swung assigned to the task. They arrived at the scheduled time and and within 2 hours had pretty much repaired the fireplace, and cleaned up the mess made in the process. Both Mike and the assigned team were professional. Glad we were able to find Top-Notch via an internet search. I would recommend them without hesitation.

My block & stucco chimney crack repair turned into a full structure replacement, at four times the original estimate. The multiple hidden problems were not predictable, but the final cost seemed excessive. Actual work quality and demo cleanup were excellent and completed quickly. Had a few issues with project managers promising to include items, then not conveying those instructions to the work crew until I followed up.

I hired this company because I was getting a smoke odor when we had a fire in our fireplace. They recommended a chimney liner. After installing it we still got a smoke odor in our home. They came back, removed the chimney liner and did an extensive cement repair with specialized equipment. The cement coating went down the entire flue. This company went the extra mile even after I had a problem.

Just bought a house with an unsafe chimney that needed to be repaired. They gave me a great price, which was a relief after getting a couple of quotes that were very expensive. Showed up on time, got everything done quickly and they did not leave any mess.

UPDATE to the review below: The owner called me back to apologize and offered to clean my chimney at no charge. He was very understanding and the technicians arrived on time and were polite during their visit. He clearly cares about his customers and his business and wanted to make things right.

My gas furnace flue didn't have any draft and their tech came out and confirmed this. His recommendation was that the whole flue duct system had to be replaced including a new roof opening for a cost of $7500. He said the re-shingle job that was done this past summer was fine and had nothing to do with problem. The next day I had a DIFFERENT contractor come out. They found that when the roof shingles were replaced, a pipe at the cap didn't leave enough room for a proper draft. He repositioned it, and it only cost me a service call.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS Claude will promise you the moon and back but once they start work it's downhill from there. They will not be clear about when they are coming, make you call the day of to know even what time of day (morning/afternoon) they are coming, and then come late and cancel on your REPEATEDLY. They will also frequently tell you they told you one day and not the day they actually told you. They also might show up unannounced on a day you said doesnt work for you.

I had top notch tear down and rebuild my chimney and remove an old wood burning stove and install a new stove I bought. Claude said this stove installation would be no problem, but turns out the owner (Mike) told me they only do this 1-2 times a year so they have to special order the pipe. They were at my house like 5 times before they placed the order for the pipe even though the new stove was available for them to measure and look at at any point. Pipe took weeks to come in and then even more weeks to schedule as they kept canceling on me. Took 5 rescheduling's to finally get the pipe install finished.

For the chimney the teardown and rebuild the guys are notably sloppy. Claude and the owner will put on a good show saying don't get paint on this or else but then the guys make a mess anyway. They broke our hose quick connected and then covered it up and tried to fix it with caulk and got caulk all over our hose. They didn't acknowledge any of this until I pointed it out (I watched them do it) and then promised a new quick connect and never followed up.

I also had to keep pointing out little things like gaps in the soffit that they made from removing the old chimney and in the mortar of the lowest bricks for them to patch. I felt like I had to remind them a lot of pieces of the job (the workers kept trying to tell me they weren't installing the wood stove when it was in my contract). Not to mention I asked multiple times about them disposing of the old metal wood stove and was told originally they could take it for me but then later they said they couldn't or "had to check". I ended up having to get it removed myself since it was sitting in my backyard for WEEKS. I even had to call and remind them to submit the permit to the township since they hadn't done the application 2 months after the job was "completed".

Overall what should've taken just a few days actually didn't get completed for almost 2 months. I had an open pipe in my basement leading to the outside for weeks until they finally came back to do the piping. The hassle of dealing with their scheduling and staff is not an experience I would ever want again, especially for the size of the job and amount I paid- I expected a much better experience.
5 months after the job started we finally got a building/fire inspection which failed epically. I was told we would've burned our house down if we had used the stove as installed. top notch took forever to come out and fix it but still never addressed the distance to combustibles in the basement. After them not showing up and then showing up unannounced they stopped trying to come fix the issue and almost a year later I still couldnt use my stove. They failed fire inspection a 2nd time and we had to threaten legal action and get inspections and estimates from other companies for over 7k in repairs to bring their work "up to code" before he refunded us the amount we needed to get it fixed. The owner yelled at us on the phone even though HIS TEAM failed inspection twice. He refused to believe his team messed up inspite of the failed inspections and the camera inspection from another company showing cracks and missing mortar in an installation that was barely a year old and never used. Absolutely awful experience..never again
