The Roofa

The Roofa was very easy to deal with and our gutters were replaced sooner than expected and they did a great job.

We've been working with The Roofa at Habitat for Humanity of Greater Portland for several years. They are great to plan and collaborate with from projects as small as a simple patch to replacing roof sheathing during a full roof replacement. Their professionalism and drive to deliver a consistent, quality product is greatly appreciated every time.

This is my second time using The Roofa, which is a testament alone. Contractors, handymen, etc can be super unreliable and I’ve had less than desirable experiences with many. Both times I’ve used The Roofa they have been honest, fair priced, and showed up as scheduled. Time was taken to the explain to me what needed to be done, and give foresight into potential future issues.

Rich was great. Came himself to complete the estimate. They were here within a week of us calling. His workers were very polite, professional and fast. You would never even know that they had been here except for the clean and thorough job they did installing the new flashing on our chimney. Highly recommend.

These guys were great! We had a leak due to some damaged chimney flashing and called them. Ritchie was really responsive and had one of his guys, Scott come take a look at it that day which we very grateful for. Scott did a temporary fix for us and came back a few days later with what he needed and repaired the damage. They did great job at a reasonable cost. I'll come back and update this if the repair fails, but I've been impressed so far. They were quick and easy to work with, friendly and seemed knowledgeable. I needed my repair done quickly so I didn't get any other bids, so I don't know how reasonable the price was, but it didn't seem wild to me ($500 for less than a days work for one person repairing some blown off shingles). Scotty and Rich were both happy to answer my questions and while both agreed that based on the state and age of the roof it will need to be replaced relatively soon, neither tried to pressure me into doing that right away.

I had a great experience with the Roofa. They fixed my leak and took care of everything quickly. Very responsive and accommodating throughout the process. I'd definitely recommend!

I am so happy we contacted The Roofa. They were quick to come assess our issues and even quicker to get them repaired. Scottie, the gentleman who did those repairs explained every step he did. He took video and photos before and after to show is his work. Could not be happier with this company.

Had a simple repair job after a part of my roof came off in a windstorm. Handled quickly and efficiently. So far so good - Scotty did the work and was friendly and thorough.

The service was outstanding! Super fast, looks great!! Everyone was very nice, the clean up after was the best I've ever recieved from any company, not one nail left behind! Thank you!

I have a very simple roof. Not tall, not steep, not overly large. The Roofa completely failed at one of the most simple roofing projects they could have been offered.

Neglectful
Workers from the Roofa installed tongue and groove roof sheathing "tongue to tongue" and "groove to groove". Manufacturer specification for this product stipulate tongues must go into grooves during installation. They did not bother to construct my roof properly because they were in such a rush to finish in a day.

Combative
Afterwards, the business owner came to my home, inspected the finished project, and gave it a passing grade. Following my discovery of the faulty workmanship, I gave this business the opportunity to make things right but they refuesed and advised I should hire somebody else. When I would not choose the contractor they wanted me to, the business owner attempted to wedge himself between us and the new contractor we hired in order to negotiate a better price for himself. It is my firm belief this business was not honest with me and I do not believe they will care about providing quality workmanship for your roof that you protect your family with either.

Unprofessional
In my opinion, the workers sent to my home by the Roofa did not fit any of the descriptions found on the company websight which promises consumers "Service with Integrity" and a "team of experts". It also makes claims of an "experienced staff" that is "highly knowledgeable". They rushed through the job and it came out absolutely terrible. They also left thier jackets behind and I found my kids going through the pockets the next morning.

Sloppy
In addition to the jackets, we found discarded phone charger cords, cigarrette butts, what appeared to by the remnants of drug parapheneilia, and other junk all left by the side of a private road that I share with my neighbors. We are still finding little bits of shingle trimmings in the gardens.

I don’t often post reviews, but this is one exception. I had a lot of storm damage to my house from the April storm. I contacted The Roofa and spoke with Richard, who was very helpful in answering my questions. He came out to look at the damage and he took over with scheduling crews to do the necessary repairs. I was very impressed with the various workers who came out to make repairs as they all worked hard and did a great clean up afterwards. My sincere thanks to the people of The Roofa. I had the roofa come to fix a leak in my roof last fall at the recommendation of my insurance agent. Nice guy Scotty also removed a satellite dish and replaced a couple of ridge cap shingles. The roof still leaked so I called back and they were coming back but never showed and would not return my calls. Very nice upfront but terrible follow up and no follow through. Look for someone else

The Roofa was great to work with! We had a small project to replace our ridge vent and roof caps. They were able to get the project done in a timely manner. The crew was very professional and did a great job!

Professional with quality work. Needed to have roof re-shingled due to leaking. Work was completed quickly and on time, including re-flashing of the chimney. Price was reasonable and the leak is gone.

Noticed some spots appear on my vaulted living room ceiling, so I called The Roofa. It turned out some shingles were missing from the peak of my roof due to wind damage. The repair they did looked neater than the rest of the house’s 10 year old roof, they said the shingles they had without ordering what I have on hand might not be an exact match but wouldn’t be noticeable for the ground. They also thoroughly checked everything else, sealed some exposed nails they found and another spot towards the edge that could potentially lead to damage.

We have used THE ROOFA for many years, and are 100% satisfied with the quality of work, professionalism, responsiveness, and always on time.

The Roofa replaced my roof. The owner and manager were both very helpful, always responsive to my questions and calls, the install team was friendly, on time and left everything very tidy after they finished. I wanted to see bigger color samples and went to the supplier to see them in person (I never trust photos for color). I’m very happy with my new roof and I highly recommend!

Disappointed. The quality of the roof seems great. The crew was fast and very clean. We are disappointed because we had a brown roof previously (see photo) that matched the house aesthetics, we wanted something similar and now we have a gray roof that does not. This is not a roof quality issue. I will update this review after I speak with CertainTeed and again with The Roofa.

Together the Roofa owner Richard and I chose the CertainTeed shingle color Driftwood, clearly with brown tones and he described it as “the best match to what we have currently.” (see Driftwood swatch). Yes, my wife and I also all agreed that the swatch was the closest match to what our roof currently looked like.

The roof is now gray (unlike the swatch) and does not remotely match the house. The CertainTeed swatch is inaccurate. We asked for relatively small financial consideration out of principle given we did not get the roof we wanted and because the roof color no longer matches the house. The Roofa told me "a discount wouldn't change the color of the roof” and that his shingle color suggestion "was just a recommendation and we chose the roof color."

Again, the quality of the roof is great. This is more about communication and lack of product knowledge. I did ask Richard the owner to contact CertainTeed so that I could speak with them directly. I am sick to my stomach.

We contacted the Roofa a few days after a big wind storm. We had some damage in the roof from shingles flying off! Richie came right out and gave us a quote and all the details laid out in an organized folder. A few days later we confirmed we would like to do business with them. I signed a contract and just a few days later they came out and got the job done! In and out in less than 8 hours! I was super impressed by the cleanup as they came after a big snow storm (and had to clear the whole roof from snow). Would highly recommended this local Westbrook business for any of your roofing needs! Very personable and professional to work with.

Friendly, professional, quick, and high quality work. What more could you ask for? (Based on one house and one large shed at two different properties in early 2022.)

Very friendly office staff on the phone, and Richie was great when he stopped by to give an estimate for our roofing project. He was courteous, informative, and walked me through the whole process. I can’t attest to their workmanship yet, but every experience with the company thus far has been very positive!

We hired the Roofa to replace 4 skylights in our gambrel home. They did a good job of working with us to get the right skylights and installed them quickly and efficiently. The skylights were installed a couple of months ago and no leaks or other problems.

The best roofing guys around!!Very honest,will not rip you off like everyone else. I called because I had a shingle bent up and I thought I needed to have a whole section replaced,the roofa got up on my ladder pushed the shingle down and fixed it absolutely free of charge and told me that it just did not seal. You absolutely cannot find better service and experience!!

They showed up on the day that they were supposed to. They were very efficient and did a great job. Everything was done in 2.5 hours. That included the cleanup. They even had a magnet to be sure they got all of the nails and staples left behind, I would definitely recommend them and will be be having them do a screen door and window replacement in the near future.

Helped me out greatly fixing flashing around my chimney and another small issue with the trim on the side of my roof. Just got my place in November and they got the job done when a few other local companies didn't want to give the time of day. Really happy with the results and friendly service.

Dan Wilson and his crew did an outstanding job on our old dilapidated house. The shingled siding falling off, rotted plywood old insulation. Dan and his crew took our ugliest house in the neighborhood to the best looking house in the neighborhood. New deck, new windows, beautiful new siding and trim. Beautiful sliding patio door leading on to the deck, new front door & storm door and a new set of front steps. His crew are well seasoned veterans at their craft, and it showed with incredible results, we couldn't be more happy. We have been getting positive comments throughout the entire renovation. If you have any kind of home project, call Dan Wilson and you won't be sorry. Like Joe Namath said, "I guarantee it".
