I hired this company to replace my AC window unit with a new one—an exact replacement of the Toshiba 12K BTW model from Home Depot. This was my first time working with them, though I’ve done extensive renovations on our condo over the past couple of years. I’d rate them 4.5 stars, as there was one minor issue I wasn’t completely satisfied with. Unfortunately, I had to leave for the mainland that same day and didn’t have time to address it. I’m hoping they’ll be willing to fix it at no cost when I return to the island in November. Other than that, they were easy to schedule, accommodated me on short notice, and did quality and fast work. I’d recommend them and will definitely use them again in the future.
The owner and the two guys that came to do handyman work were all really nice and I appreciate their effort, but continuous errors make me question the competence of this team.
I'm in the process of moving and I hired this team to help deconstruct a few pieces of furniture, pack the furniture into a shipping container, spackle and repaint the ceiling. I hired professional help to deconstruct and move my furniture because it's the first set of nice furniture that I've owned. I was really disappointed that one of the guys dropped my headboard when he was disassembling my bed, which damaged the corner of the headboard. I understand mistakes can happen, but it seemed like a lack of experience led to him not realizing that unscrewing one side of the base of the bed would lead to the other end falling to the ground. He was apologetic about it, as was the owner, but it's still disappointing because I hired help in an attempt to avoid damaging my furniture.
Also, I had asked them to spackle and repaint the ceiling where I had previously drilled some holes. I don't personally know enough about ceiling paint to know about the different variations of white paint and sheens, but I would expect a handyman business to be knowledgable enough to inform me of the differences and know which variation of paint to use. They painted the ceiling an off white paint that was darker and containing a shinier sheen than the rest of the ceiling. Afterwards, I brought this up to the owner and he kindly offered to "make it right" and redo that portion of the job. One of the guys came back to take a sample, color match it, and repaint it, yet somehow the paint color and sheen is still wrong, even though he came to color match it? I have attached a photo of the difference showing the paint job they redid compared to the rest of the ceiling. The photo was taken days after the job was redone, so the paint is dry in the attached photo.
I appreciate the owner trying to work with me to make it right, but if the remedy of an error is done incorrectly again, that's rather disappointing.
I would give 6 stars if they had them! Jerry from Maui Handyman came out to caulk a shower and we also wanted him to look at a pocket door, but we didn’t have much hope for the door since pocket doors are notoriously challenging. He did a great job of caulking (very quick but good) but also amazingly fixed the pocket door! This is after numerous companies had either said they couldn’t help or described dire impractical remedies.
