Jack the owner was great to work with, making sure to design exactly what we wanted. Sonny was the lone person on sight building our deck and front porch and he does amazing work, very meticulous and makes sure everything is done to perfection.

We had a long dock built out to deep water on the Appomattox. They took care of the complicated permitting process and built us a beautiful dock. The structure is constructed in such a way to provide great strength, durability and beauty. The workers were the hardest workers I’ve ever had the pleasure of watching. They worked quickly, efficiently and without complaining about the steep incline they had to carry the heavy materials and equipment down to daily. We are beyond satisfied with the project and enjoyed working with Jack and Terri Bergman and his team. They were professional and attentive to any questions we had and addressed any issues quickly.

Deck Tech did an awesome job. Jack worked with us to look at alternative designs for a grill deck and stairs. He also suggested an upgrade to our screened porch deck. They are responsive, affordable, helpful, and friendly. The working crew always had a smile and greeting for us. When our home was inspected, the inspector's only compliment was about the high quality of the workmanship from the Deck Tech crew. I highly recommend them.

The Deck Tech recently completed a beautiful new Timber Tech deck for our home. We are ecstatic with the completed deck and we were very impressed by the careful planning and attention to detail provided by The Deck Tech. Jack Bergman and Dyllan Bergman were extremely helpful in designing our deck and providing us with all of the essential details of the project. They both checked with us several times before, during, and after completion of the deck to answer our questions and to make certain that all of our needs were met. They happily accommodated our last minute changes to the design. The three man crew was professional and courteous. The crew also explained the process to us during construction of the deck and made requested changes during the project. The deck was completed on time and the workmanship appears to be superb. The clean up after project was also excellent. We would enthusiastically recommend The Deck Tech without reservation.

Dillyn from Deck Teck came to my condo to look at my balcony and explained their services to screen it in. Was advised that the office was backlogged and will give me an estimate in 1 week. Two weeks later I called, and he advised that tomorrow I will receive it.
Now it is 8 days later and no estimate.
It has now been over 3 weeks and no response.
Shame on this company for not getting back to me.
Obviously, they don't respect their customers to keep them
updated as to what is going on.

We were very pleased with the work that Deck Tech did for us. We had our deck replaced and added a 3-season room to the back of the house. Jack Bergman did a great job helping us figure out what our needs were, and we ended up with something that was much nicer than what we had originally envisioned. He had solutions to all of our potential issues, and had some great suggestions that enhanced our project. His team worked hard and kept the project moving along. The workmanship was great. The deck and the new room look awesome. The cost was reasonable in comparison to other bids that we got for the job. Would highly recommend.

They are simply amazing and stand by their work. The screen on one of my doors became loose. They changed the screens on my porch doors they did almost 9 yrs ago with no problem. Might I say- the screened in porch still looks good 9 yrs later! Thank you so much!!!!

We decided to replace our thirty five year old wooden deck with a larger composite deck as well as adding a screened in porch on the major portion of the new deck footprint. We had a new deck installed. Owner Jack Bergman came out himself to give us the estimate. My husband and I were very impressed as he was very experienced and knew where we were going with our idea. My husband uses a wheelchair so this deck had to have a ramp and enough space figured in for him to move around. The staff that came out were so professional and kept me updated through the process. Cliff is an extraordinary builder and worked so hard. We even got two doors with storm doors that are great to go out on our new deck.
We are extremely pleased! And our dogs love it too. Deck Tech made us feel like we were their only client and that is attention and care that can be difficult to find these days. Thank you for giving us a beautiful space to enjoy for years to come.

Owner Jack Bergman was excellent to work with throughout this fairly large project. He was very accessible and courteous from start to finish. We replaced our existing wood deck with a three season room and the end result was outstanding. Jack was willing to make changes as the project went along and his workers Brad and Dillon, who did the work, were masterful. This was not an easy job as they extended our existing deck five feet and tied into the roof of our house. We are extremely satisfied with the final outcome and appreciate the hard work and attention to detail Brad and Dillon displayed.
We never felt pressure by Jack to add anything unnecessary (up sell), and he was always willing to offer his professional advise as to what would make our room more functional and look better. His electrician, roofer, and gutter installer did exceptional work as well. A shout out to his superintendent, Terry Porter, who followed up on questions/concerns and always displayed a great and professional attitude.
Overall, I couldn't be happier with the end result and I highly recommend The Deck Tech no matter what the size of the project. Just as important as the end result, I can't say enough about every single employee I met at The Deck Tech. Every one of them treated my wife and I with courtesy and respect from day one. They were an awesome company to work with and seemed genuinely concerned about our complete and total satisfaction. I would not hesitate to hire them again for any future projects.

Jack and his staff were exceptional to work with through the whole process of adding a deck and pergola to my existing house. The planning was clear and concise. His staff were exceptional in their perfection, workmanship and pride that they put into the project. The brick, the color of the decking, and the stain matched perfectly to the existing house. Jack Bergmann and his staff did an amazing job with our boat dock on Swift Creek Reservoir! The communication, construction process and workmanship were exceptional! They will handle every detail including county permits and the legal process which can be very involved and complicated.
The follow up and extra details such as cross bracing the piling supports added to a quality product!

Just had very old existing deck replaced. So glad that I chose Deck Tech. Andrew did an awesome job. The workmanship is great. Andrew was very careful as the hose from the sump pump ran from under the deck to yard. He actually did a little trench so it would not be rubbing the new structure. I knew it would take a while as Jack Bergman informed me up front that things were running a little behind so that did not bother me. Jack worked with me to get the new deck built within my budget. From start to finish, every single employee involved in our project was professional, friendly, prompt, accessible, and thorough, and their work is impeccable. Jack Bergman and the Deck Tech carpenters did a terrific job on our screened in porch. We had a covered porch on the back or our year old patio home. The mosquitoes were relentless so we decided to enclose it but we wanted to maintain the column style, color and view. Jack added a few columns to accommodate the door and the screen frames to our original design.They also removed all of the molding and replaced it with new molding so all the trim would match. Brad and Sonny were careful and methodical in their installation. Of course we were delayed by rain but every contractor that works outdoors was delayed this summer! Our porch is now completed and we love it. All of our dealings with Jack were timely and completely professional. We would recommend Deck Tech to anyone who wants a job well done!

I have done 2 projects with Deck Tech. If you want the job done right the first time, call them. I have fallen into the trap of trying to save money, or get something done quickly and it never pays off. Deck Tech and their crew do an excellent job. I would suggest you hire them for your next project, I know I will.

We just had a deck and screened in porch designed and built by Deck Tech. The experience was very positive and professional. The field staff were personable and very sensitive to the need for privacy while at our home. Throughout the process there was careful attention to quality. We highly recommend Deck Teck.

We were very happy with a custom Pergola that we had them install. You can tell that the staff here has a great attention to detail and pride in their work. We couldn’t have been more pleased with the final result. My only criticism would have been a lack of communication as far as keeping us aware of potential delays and scheduling conflicts. I understand that the company was likely very busy but we found that we needed to constantly call for updates on the job. At the end of the day though, they delivered an amazing product at a fair value and we would definitely recommend them to family and friends! In fact, I wish we had hired them to rebuild our back deck because of issues we had with our other contractor who missed cutting boards, had nails they did not line up, etc. and like I was saying, the level of craftsmanship with Jack and his team is undeniably superb.

Jack Bergman, the owner, meticulously examined our chosen area for the dock. He actually waded deep into the water and found that the ground surface in that area would not be acceptable for a dock. The first dock group we looked at didn’t do this careful preliminary evaluation. We found another very suitable area. We did have to wait awhile for construction to start but we had told him we weren’t in any hurry. Once he started, the work was completely finished in one week. Our dock is small and simple but appears to be well constructed. The workmen were very hard working, courteous, friendly, quiet, and neat. The electrician was very experienced and friendly and adaptable to our needs and desires. The price ws reasonable. We are probably going to have them redo our house deck (big job) next year—with strong, easy to care for materials. We are very satisfied and happy with our dock and their service.

Deck Tech just finished a screen porch addition for us and did a great job. The finished product is outstanding and I was even more impressed with their professional manner throughtout the course of the job and in particular with their ability to complete the work with a minimum of disruption to the rest of our property.

We have had a great experience with this company, from start to finish, and have all good things to say! I'll just start off with the fact that I didn't really care that they ran a month or two behind schedule in starting the project because I was willing to wait for a job well done, and this is a porch we will get to enjoy for many, many years. They WANT to be on schedule, but sometimes things happen, especially in construction. Be patient. You won't regret it.

Of all the companies we met with and got estimates from, we went with the Deck Tech because Jack seemed to really want us to love our porch and for it to be everything we wanted it to be and more. He really cared about the design and aesthetics, as well as functionality for us. They built a fairly large, entirely maintenance-free screened porch and deck for us, and it's beautiful and perfect and I love it. It's my dream porch! Richie does incredible work, everything is super precise and he is such a nice, polite, quiet guy, too. I kinda got to enjoy having him around. For the porch we have, the price was very reasonable and comparable to other quotes we received, and they stuck to it.

Don't hesitate to do business with the Deck Tech! I've learned with home ownership that good work is hard to come by. I didn't have to oversee or check behind anyone to make sure work was being done well, and that has been such a relief. Jack doesn't need to stop by constantly to make sure work is being done well because he employs people that he knows do good work (like Richie! Not sure if I mentioned that he's amazing?)

We cannot say enough great things about The Dech Tech. Our deck is absolutely beautiful. They finished ahead of schedule. Everything went smoothly and not a sign of our old wooden deck. They did a great job on our new dock and walkway between our main deck on our home and cottage. We are very pleased with the finished result and highly recommend them for docks, decks and walkways of any type!

We love our back porch and deck. Jack Bergman is such a professional along with his crew. He's motto is the customer comes first and he lives by that rule. Building the deck and back porch was made easy , not to mention incredibly beautiful. Highly recommend, you get what you pay for.

Usually I refrain from writing reviews publically although I feel this time it is appropriate to do so. I contacted The Deck Tech to repair one board in my deck that had a hole in it caused by storm damage. I called this company since relatives of mine had already signed on to use them for a bigger deck project.

Getting the quote wasn't the issue at the start, it was the mere timing on when the project was SUPPOSED to be completed that was the issue and complete lack of communication. I had to call/text several times after the "20 day" waiting period after receiving the quote. When I finally got a response, I was told one of two days when they would be out to do the repair and of course those days came and went. I then had to call get again and ask for the main office to let them know that Jack Bergman (owner) was not returning my calls/texts nor was he servicing the customer (me).

The following day, two guys showed up at my house - unannounced with no communication from Jack to this point. During the work, the workers were smoking and using profanity (could be heard through the screened windows - I have two kids under 3 years old - come on!). After they did the job, Jack called me and said it appeared the job was done pretty well. I later asked my wife to send me a picture of the work and I noticed the new board (much different material than was told) was installed in the exact same spot and was supposed be on the edge of the deck - to be less noticeable. So not only was this a lack of attention to detail - it was just careless work and direction from the OWNER of this company.

The next day Jack and I spoke on the phone, and I explained to him that not only was the new board nowhere near the same material as the original, it was installed in the wrong location, another board was cracked during the install, a few other boards appeared to have been pulled up from level position, and wood was chipped under the deck where the board was installed. So safe to say, a terrible job with the result being that I was worse off now than what it was to start.

Jack told me over the phone to give me 48 hours to try and track down the material elsewhere and yet again that time came and went. So I called a final time wanting an update with no return call. He texted me the next week stating he had tracked down a board although at this point I was fed up and had enough. Plus I didn't want Jack or his workers anywhere near my deck after the mess they left.

I'll end by saying, any owner of a company that says "I wish that I wouldn't have agreed to do this project to begin with...what a hassle this has become." to the customer - is insanity. Jack said that he has 20 plus years of deck building/repair experience. Well, I can truly say that he and The Deck Tech have ABSOLUTELY no years of customer service experience.

What a horrendous experience, horrible company to do business with, and I hope those who do decide to use this service, tread very carefully because you may end up like me - left with a problem that I have to now deal with. Just awful!

I can't say enough great things about this co and it's owner. The final result was everything I imagined and more. The guys building it were wonderful to work with and took their time paying attention to every detail. As all big projects tend to, we ran into a few hiccups. Every issue Jack (owner) stepped in and resolved my concern at every turn and made sure I was always satisfied. I am certainly satisfied. You can get a lot of people out there to put a deck up for you. Save yourself the eventual headache and have Deck Deck put in a grade A deck for you.

They completed a platform deck in the rear of my house. During and after the project I had a few issues with them.

First off, they won my business by offering the most competitive quote. After "some misunderstandings" on their end the quote price went up. Obviously, I wasn't too happy about this but I'm willing to be somewhat flexible.

The next problem came when discussing start date. I was told that the project could start within two weeks of when I got the quote. I signed the contract and they confirmed the start date. That date came and went with zero communication. I emailed twice and finally got an apologetic and excuse filled phone call pushing my start date back a few more weeks. The new project start date was missed as well but luckily they came out the week after to start the job.

The professional that came to complete the deck was kind and hard working. I would rate the craftsmanship at a 8.5/10 only due to the fact that there were a few items that were left unfinished. I felt as though a closer attention to detail would have resulted in a much superior product. A piece of decking actually fell off when I touched it...

I requested some items to be fixed/finished and they obliged without hesitation which was nice. However, the fixes themselves were subpar and I don't trust them to redo it for the second time. So, after paying for "professionals" to do the job, I have to go back behind them and fix their mistakes.

Overall, my experience was negative with a few positives sprinkled in. I would not recommend hiring this company unless it's for a high dollar job that they actually take seriously. It's obvious they don't care about any projects less than $5,000.

I LOVE my new deck and screened porch!!! Finished in a timely manner, with all my requests and it is BEAUTIFUL!!! Jack Bergman is wonderful to work with!!!

We had a screened in porch built about two months ago and we LOVE it! Jack and his team were good to work with. They provided different options and educated us about the pros and cons of each. We only wished we had done it sooner!

We already had a screen porch but the spring pollen made it unusable during too much of the nice weather. After seeing a friends Deck Tech porch with Eze-Breeze windows we had ours converted. Our only regret is that we didn't do it 8 years ago when the house was built. We included a mini-split HVAC that is super quiet - and efficient. This winter when the outside temps were 40 - 50 degrees our porch would get up to 90 and we would open it up to the house and enjoy the added heat. For this summer we have pull down blinds and will be able to block a lot of the sun. With the HVAC I expect to enjoy our porch for all 12 months of the year. Deck Tech was good to work with and I highly recommend them. They do quality work!!!
AND THEY CONTINUE TO DO QUALITY WORK!!! Even though we liked the Eze-Breeze windows, they now offer Scenix windows, which are so much better.....and worth the extra cost. With the Pandemic and weather and supply issues and etc. it took a while to get them installed, but Ritchie always does a great job. Thank you, Ritchie and Jack!
