Chris Callands went above and beyond for our family! He helped me with my door selection, scheduling, and when I had a personal problem he went out of his way to help me and was so kind. I would not hesitate to seek him and Taylor Brothers out in the future. Thank you Chris!

I purchased some 2x12x20 number 1 yellow pine yesterday and took them home. I got home to find out one of the boards had a split going down the last 3 feet of the board. I figured out how to make it work because I didn't want to make the long drive to replace one board. I called them today and they were nice enough to give me a full refund for the board, no argument. That was very nice of them and unexpected. Good luck getting customer service like that at Lowe's or home Depot.

Not impressed. They seemed confused about what we believed to be a pretty straightforward order of framing lumber, took a long time to get back with a delivery plan, lost the order when I went to pay, etc. After waiting several weeks for a quote on trusses we’ve decided to go with someone else and now will be looking for a different company for doors and windows. When we received the lumber we ordered, the delivery process went fine. The Lumber isn’t great but it’ll work.

As a local contractor we have found everything we need from a building product standpoint here at Taylor Brothers. They are our choice for lumber, windows, doors, trim and deck materials. Karen Bowman handles all our cabinetry design and provides the best price and the quality always matches. They provide a turnkey installation service for many scopes that we have them provide for us. Framing, drywall, trim and much more. They are highly recommended by everyone on our team.

TLDR: Little to no help with projects. ~$320 for a custom, oddly shaped door just for it to take a little under four weeks of my time and arrive in poor quality.

I needed to order a custom, odd sized interior door slab for my dad's home from here because Home depot and Lowes refused to help me with such a custom order, nor had anything close enough in stock for me.

I went with my Dad to the store and tried ordering. To be fair to the store, I was not on the same page as my Dad on what we should be getting. So, excusing complications from that end, it still took two weeks just for my order to finally be put in and filed. I even provided the store a technical drawing of the exact specifications I needed, along with all relevant information.

Conversations back and forth over the phone and in-store made things impossible as everyone was either on vacation, out to lunch, or elsewise busy. (the original plan was for a carpenter to come to my house and suggest whether or not we should also replace the door frame instead of just the slab, but he didn't show up the day he was scheduled, so we had to initiate a refund.)

Non-ideal, but I was finally happy that I was getting what I needed. When I went to pick up the manufactured slab after a-whole-nother week of waiting, the boys at the warehouse misplaced it and literally made me find it myself. I got them to help load it up in the truck, took it home, relieved that all I had to do was paint it and install it.

So, you can imagine my shock as when I started applying the paint, it wouldn't stick. I figured the primer was poor quality or perhaps it was too cold to dry properly, so I used a rag to start wiping off what paint I used... then the primer started to come off with it. Now I have to prime it myself which is even more time wasted on my end.

With some complications on me and my Dad's end, it's been a total of four and a half weeks and we still are working on the door.

Not a single thing was done for me, despite the price of the slab indicating so. Now that I have what I need, I can guarantee I will never shop here again.

I love this place. Karen was excellent in picking out a cabinet that would match our old cabinets. Can't wait to see the new arrangement in our kitchen.

Order RR ties on Friday for Tuesday delivery, called to find out delivery time, the guy answering the phone had no clue or exactly how to find out. "Ill have the salesman ,Joe Warren call you."...1hour and a half later nothing...called back, spoke with a very nice woman, she put me thru to Zack in dispatch " Somebody dropped the ball....we can bring it out after 2pm,Ill call when they leave." No call delivery shows up at 3:22, 3:24,I get a call saying he was there that he had tried to call several times and my phone went to voice mail....an outright lie! I saw the correspondence between the delivery guy and dispatch....called to speak to the general manager at 3:42.....no call back. The only way they'll delivery is prepay....if this werea 200.00 order I could see how it might slip by...This order was 2000.00......very unhappy with the way this was handled....I was selfemployed for 43 years...

Over all it has been an absolute disaster working with Taylor Brothers. I ordered four interior doors over 3 weeks ago and I was told they would be there within 5 days. These are pretty standard doors and it shouldn't have been a problem. Still am missing one door and they do not call you back and are very unorganized. I will never do any business with Taylor Brothers ever again. What a joke!

I typically don't do a lot of posting but would like for everyone to know what bad service Taylor Brothers in Lynchburg give to individual people if you aren't a contractor. I went the first part of February and ordered railings for my house and was told they get two shipments a week so it shouldn't take long. I have called several times and every time was told it would be in this week well I guess this week never comes because it is now April 4 and still no railings. When I called this week someone other than Anne answered the phone and I was put on hold needless to say nobody ever came back to the phone so it went to voice mail and I left a message. That was Monday and today is Thursday and still no phone call. If everyone ran a business that way they would no longer be in business or have a job. What is this world coming to when you no longer can get good service or honesty from companies like Taylor Brothers. They knew I needed this for home insurance and because of this my home insurance was going to be cancelled so had to go somewhere else and got railings today.

Great staff, nice display of cabinetry and a really nice display of crown molding that gives you a lot of ideas of what you can have in your home.

Service questions
1. Should I stay home during roof replacement?
+-

It's not necessary to stay home during roof replacement. Roofing work is noisy and can cause vibrations inside the house, which might be uncomfortable. Most homeowners choose to leave during major parts of the project, but our team ensures safety and keeps you updated, whether you're home or not.

2. How long does roof replacement take?
+-

The timeline for a roof replacement typically ranges from one to three days, depending on the size and complexity of the roof, weather conditions, and material type. Larger or more intricate roofs may take a bit longer, but we always aim for efficient, timely completion.

3. How to hire a roofing contractor?
+-

To hire a roofing contractor, start by researching local companies with good reviews and proper licensing. Request quotes from multiple contractors, verify their insurance and certifications, and ask for references. Always ensure you get a written contract that outlines the scope of work, timeline, and payment terms.

4. How to check if a roofing company is legit?
+-

Check if a roofing company is legit by verifying their business license, insurance, and local certifications. Look for memberships in professional associations, read customer reviews, and ask for recent project references. A legitimate company will be transparent and provide all documentation upon request.

5. How to choose a roofing company?
+-

When choosing a roofing company, consider their experience, customer reviews, warranty offerings, and quality of materials. Make sure they provide clear communication, detailed estimates, and a solid portfolio of completed projects. Local expertise is also a major advantage for understanding regional roofing needs.

6. How do you know if your roofing contractor is ripping you off?
+-

Warning signs that your roofing contractor might be ripping you off include vague contracts, pressure to pay large upfront deposits, lack of proper documentation, and unexplained price increases. Always ask for itemized estimates and written guarantees, and avoid contractors who avoid answering your questions directly.
