Shake Guys

Shake Guys goes above and beyond! I recently called them with a roof issue and they were out at my home quickly and provided the lowest estimate out of three companies I contacted. They got the job done and they were super helpful and friendly. I would highly recommend them for any roofing project large or small. I trust them completely!

This is the second time I’ve worked with Shake Guys and their rep Ryan, for maintenance on my cedar shake roof, and I couldn’t be happier. Ryan is clearly very knowledgeable, and did a great job helping define the proper scope of the project, including the pros/cons of different options. Work was done very well and in a timely manner. I strongly recommend Shake Guys.

If you have a shake roof, these are your guys for repair and coating. They are competitively priced and offer a quality product. The team was thorough, friendly, and before they left they made sure that I was satisfied. Highly recommend them!

First off I take reviews very seriously. I wish every contractor or service provider was as easy to work with from start to finish. Given the nature of a roofing project alongside the insurance claim process, Shake Guys is second to none. When I originally did some research I contacted a few inspection committees in Illinois is and both mentioned Chris Paulus. When I met Chris i knew I had the right representation to make a claim. Chris’ “can do” approach and relentless follow up with the insurer to start and full disclosure with all terms and conditions made me very comfortable. The back office walked through the financial, permitting, scheduling, and closing forms with no issues and efficiency. Now let’s get to the install process. Chris provides great product selection information and the installation headed by Julio was Quality. I never met such a respectful, considerate, hard working crew for a significant job. Julio communicated with me everyday and answered my questions without issue. He also customized a fabrication solution for an irregular gutter located under one of my elevated porches. I never had to ‘hawk” progress, workmanship, or accuracy to plan but instead earned a lot about the structure through Julio as I moved to the home not quite two years ago. Bottom line I always measure service quality with me asking would I hire these guys as employees for my own company. It is a resounding “ Yes”. I am more than willing to answer any questions from the owner and can’t thank everyone enough for making this a stress free experience.

Sal and the crew did a fantastic job on replacing our roof.  Sal was very good at communicating and keeping me informed as well as making sure he addressed a few of my concern areas.  There was one particularly difficult spot where the chimney and roof met where be bright in another expert to ensure it was addressed correctly.  Afterwords they took drone shots of the roof and used that to make some adjustments to ensure the roof was perfect.  They did a great job and would highly recommend them to anybody.

I chose the Shake Guys to replace my roof not solely based on their price but on the reviews that I had read as well as visiting various other locations where they had installed the same roofing product I had selected. They lived up to their reputation. Their work was done completely in accordance with our contract and I was totally pleased with the end product. They did the work with a crew that was appropriate for the size of my project which made the work go very quickly. They protected the property around the house to make sure nothing was damaged. Julio the project superintendent had his crew go to extremes to protect my koi pond and assured that the fish and the pond surroundings were not damaged or disturbed. When the work was done the property was thoroughly cleaned of construction debris and all outside deck furniture was placed back to where it was previously located. I highly recommend the Shake Guys.

I recently had my roof replaced by Shake Guys and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. From start to finish, their team, particularly Max and Sal, were professional, efficient, and extremely knowledgeable. Sal and his crew arrived on time each day, worked diligently, and made sure to keep the work area clean and safe. What really stood out was their attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship. Customer service was top-notch as well—any questions I had were answered promptly and clearly. It's rare to find a company that combines great communication with high-quality work, but Shake Guys truly delivered on both fronts. I highly recommend them to anyone in need of roof replacement. Diego and his team were excellent! They replaced a 23 year old gazebo roof and it looks absolutely perfect and beautiful! They worked together so efficiently and came out with a great result.

I called the SHAKE GUYS for some advice on maintenance of a shake roof. I own a house out of state, but couldn’t find anybody there that I felt was knowledgeable enough about how to maintain a shake roof, but the SHAKE GUYS were very helpful. Gave me a lot of information and I appreciate it. Sadly, I don’t have a house here with a shake roof otherwise I’d use them!

I can’t rate these guys high enough! They ripped off our 5 year-old roof (installed by another contractor) which failed because of a manufacturing error. The previous roofer was ok, but what a difference! The Shake Guys were extraordinary! From their fair bid, to their careful attention to details, extensive knowledge and experience and their conscientious cleanup, this re-roofing job (November 2024) was excellent! At times they had 15 people working on the 5,000 square foot roof. But everything was extremely well co-ordinated. We can confidently recommend The Shake Guys without reservation!

Great experience with this company. They kept their promise to finish our project before the season was over and worked over the weekend and in 30 degree weather to get it done. A huge shout out to Brody our sales rep and Julio our project manager. All the workers were very professional and they also did a great job cleaning up everything at the end of each day. We were worried that the composite wouldn't look as nice as real cedar but it's really hard to tell with the finished product. Thanks Shake Guys!

Very efficient once the long wait for materials was over. They brought a crew of about 10-15 guys and our very large cedar roof was completed in a little over a week. Julio was a great resource and made sure clean up was done well.

We were delighted with the quality of the work and the great guys that did it! A light on our deck was accidentally broken and the team went above and beyond to find the perfect replacement. Julio was the BEST project manager!

Our experience with Chad Treutler from Shake Guys has been great! Chad took his time and explained thoroughly what work we needed to have done. Chad explored repair options & each associated cost. We did not feel rushed, the price was appropriate for the job & was good for us. We’re completely pleased with their work. We definitely recommend Shake Guys & would use them again!

I was initially really blown away by the level of customer service displayed by Shake Guys. Charlie was extremely patient while discussing the available brands, colors, and styles and providing samples of the final few color choices. He made a point to answer all our questions and emphasized that he wanted us to be happy with the job once it was completed. I especially appreciated his following up and suggesting additional snow guards beyond those provided above critical areas – it was purely an aesthetic choice, and I was glad that he asked before work kicked off.
Daniel, our project manager, kept us informed of when they’d start work. Once on site, Fabian’s crew made a point to protect all the plantings around the house with plywood (versus just a tarp), keeping them from meeting a quick and flattened end during removal of the existing roof. They made short work of the removal and replacement and were finished with the roof after just two days.
Where things seemed to go a bit off the rails was in coordination and follow-ups once the roof was substantially complete.
- Prior to the start of work, materials were dropped off, including our skylights. After finding the blinds that were to be installed with the skylights were missing, I notified the office and eventually spoke with the PM, who assured me that it would be taken care of before installation (the subcontractor would have it with them). During the whirlwind of an installation, however, the skylights were removed and replaced before the kit could be installed and I was told that they’d just need to install it from the inside…it’s a two-story vaulted ceiling. The subcontractor came out and had the crew remove the skylights to allow installation from the exterior.
- After the crew was loading up and moving on to the next job, they cleaned up around the house. Daniel noted that they’d come through to do a second clean-up since some nails and other debris may still be on the roof and the initial clean-up doesn’t get everything. I’m not aware of a second clean-up ever being done. While I didn’t mind doing it myself, the lack of follow-through was irritating.
- During the tear-off, the gutter guards that I was told would be reinstalled were, in some cases, twisted and tossed into trash piles. I salvaged and straightened what I found. After I was told that we were ready for a final walkthrough I ran a camera over the gutters and found in several sections trash had been left in the gutters, sections of the mesh had been pushed into the gutters, or the sections were simply missing. Shake Guys fixed the sections once I voiced my concerns and I largely chalk this up to how quickly the crew was moving with the job. Had I not inspected the gutters myself, however, I don’t know whether this would have been addressed.
- When I called the village to confirm I could take the permit off the garage (it had been a while since I’d heard from anyone), I was told that they still needed a final inspection and a skylight inspection that was supposed to be done during construction hadn’t been scheduled. After speaking and later texting with Daniel, I was told that I needed to go ahead and coordinate the final inspection with the village myself. That didn’t seem to make sense, so I called the office and was told they would handle the final. Sure…no worries. The only concern here was that I had to follow up with Shake Guys to find out when the final inspection was scheduled. The day of the inspection I ended up calling the village to find out what time the inspection was scheduled for, only to find out that it had already been completed. To date no one from Shake Guys has circled back to confirm completion of the job or otherwise follow-up.
All-in-all we’re happy with the final product and focus on the experience we had at the start of the job. Given the stellar experience others have had with this company I’m assuming this is may have been a one-off.

Every aspect of my roof replacement was performed professionally. JOSH From sales took me through the process and made sure we were on course. JULIO, our project manager, was knowledgeable and kept us informed. He made sure everything went correctly and quickly. Our supervisors on site, FABIAN AND MARIO, checked in daily with me and made sure everything on site was done well and the site was cleaned daily. The crew worked extremely hard from dawn until after dark. Finally, the roof looks great and the job site was immaculate. I could not have asked for a better experience.

Shake Guys did a magnificent job installing our new EcoStar composite roof system and snow guards. From the initial estimate to the final inspection they kept us informed of the entire process and what to expect at every stage of the project. Sal, the project manager, was very experienced and informative yet also very professional and personal. The final result was amazingly aesthetic and adds not just curb appeal but real value to our home, it reduced our homeowners insurance by approximately 10% and surely makes us the envy of our neighbors, well done!!

Ryan came to assess our leak issue right away and was able to find the source of our leak while no one else could. He came back for a follow up as well. This was some of the best customer service we've ever had. 100% would recommend and we will be using Shake Guys when our roof needs any maintenance or when it's time for a new one.

Initial impression…not so much. Very ready to take initial Deposit but took a few weeks to schedule roof cleaning and repair. They decided unilaterally to clean only a portion of the whole roof. After some discussion, agreed to clean the whole roof, which they did beautifully. Next day they applied the roof treatment. They were very thorough and careful to prevent any roof sealer from getting on the brick/ foliage/ windows/ etc.. I have to give particular credit to Diego and Julio for their attention to detail and their conscious awareness of what is required for perfection…they provided it. I highly recommend Shake Guys for roof cleaning/ sealing.

We've had roof preservation and roof repairs from Shake Guys multiple times. They are always professional and they always do the job right at fair prices. Last night, we had a terrible wind storm. We lost many shakes from the peak of our roof. I left a message after hours and Tyler called me first thing this morning. He arrived shortly thereafter, and all repairs were completed by lunchtime! It's good to know that we can always count on Shake Guys.

I chose Shake guy after a recommendations from one of my best friends. They came on times with seven people workings every day for six days and finished the work in-spite of having a large roofing. They cleaned the area well and left. They were several thousands more than the cheapest bid but we we went with them because of the recommendations of our friend and i am glad we did

A 5-Star experience and final product!! The Shake Guys recently replaced our old cedar shake roof with a new Brava synthetic cedar shake roof in the “New Cedar” color. They also replaced our gutters and downspouts. Quality and experience were key factors for us when choosing a vendor for this project. The Shake Guys really delivered on that! Our entire experience with the Shake Guys team was fantastic. It started with initial consultations with Connor L, whereby his easy-to-work-with-approach and great perspective of current options really helped us select the best choice for us. Then onto the worksite project led by Josh F, where he was so helpful at keeping us well-informed and more importantly at leading an impressive and high-quality installation process. The workmanship of Josh F and his team combined with the Brava “New Cedar” color of shakes resulted in an amazing looking final roof/gutters. Perhaps the most professional contractor group I have ever delt with for any project. Exceptionally good communication. Fantastic workmanship. Josh did an amazing job negotiating insurance coverage and what could have been a challenging issue was very simple. He did essentially everything and got our repair covered completely less deductible. Sal did a great job as site manager. Work was fast, unintrusive and of excellent quality with near spotless clean-up. I have a neighbor and a colleague who have used the same team at Shake Guys and they agreed. Appreciate having them on the project-we give Shake Guys our highest recommendation.

Professionals who take pride in their work! Once we squared away the financing with insurance and the bank (which did not go smoothly, thanks to horrible communication from the bank), the actual roof replacement work was fantastic, including attention to detail, fixing a few minor issues, and clean-up. The supervisor Sal was a standout liaison, handling every concern pleasantly and efficiently. The team of roofing folks took the job seriously and really seemed to care about their work! Our experience with Sal and the crew from Shake Guys was excellent. The crew was respectful. There was almost no damage to our lawn and landscaping. They kept things clean and picked up continuously. They fully met our expectations.

We must also acknowledge Chris Paulus, who, on a routine inspection of our roof, identified and assessed damage to the roof unbeknownst to us. Chris was very resourceful in working with our insurance company in documenting the need to replace the roof. Chris was continuously available to us through the contracting, construction and finishing stages. Chris is very knowledgeable about roof construction and selection of materials.

Not only do The Shake Guys do an excellent job installing high quality roofs, flashing and gutter, but they also stand behind their work. More than 7 years after the initial installation a very minor problem arose as a result of an architectural design flaw. The Shake Guys fixed it quickly, correctly and at no charge. That's the difference that a solid neighborhood roofing business like The Shake Guys makes in contrast to itinerant installers who disappear after the initial work is done.

Shake Guys did a great job. Ryan B got the ball rolling and it was hassle free from there. Project manager, Josh F, made sure the work was done correctly, efficiently and ahead of schedule. No complaints.

The Shake Guys Team, managed by Sal, was absolutely superb. In only three days, they replaced the entire roof of our 6000 sq ft house. The team worked seamlessly together, removing the shingles section by section, preparing the roof and then installing the new shingles. As a rule, there were 9-12 roofers working in almost military precision in 12 hour days to install the new roof. Great care was taken to prevent any of the old shingle debris from damaging the house or the grounds. 1-2 employees were constantly engaged in cleanup. Bottom

We are very happy with our interaction with Shake Guys. We were abruptly dropped by our insurance company, specifically because we have a cedar roof. No matter that it was only 7 years old. Our new insurance company inspector thought he saw some loose shingles and requested an inspection. Enter Ethan at Shake Guys! We had them out to identify any issues and inform us about any maintenance needs. They provided us with a free comprehensive inspection fully complete with drone pictures to help us know of any concerns. Ethan helped us identify best next steps to keep our roof in great condition. In addition, he was super communicative and service oriented, something I highly value. I mentioned we were working with Shake Guys to a realtor friend and she said she always refers people to them for roofing needs. They have won my business going forward!

The Shake Guys organization did a great job. We were dreading doing our roof, but Josh Fernandez and his crew were professional, responsive and thoughtful. They cleaned up after every day, were organized and did a good job of protecting the rest of our home while they were working on our home. I highly recommend Josh Fernandez. I could not be happier with either the Shake Guys or the work that they did for me. Originally, I contacted them to provide the yearly treatment for the cedar shake roof on my recently acquired house. Various issues arose and we agreed that replacing to the roof with more sustainable, fire resistant, fabricated materials would be the best choice for my needs. Their patience with the process, the HOA, and weather have been beyond expectations.

Because we had numerous delays from my end, I worked with many of the staff at Shake Guys between my first calls in August 2023 & completion in April 2024. Me and my husband had a very good experience with Shake Guys, specially Max M as our sales person and Josh F as our project manager. All parts of the project (roof cedar shingles, copper and gutters) turned out above expectation.

Exactly 1 year ago we had a hail storm that practically exploded many of the cedar shakes on our roof. The roof looked so bad a production company literally contacted us and asked if they could pay us to film a horror/comedy movie at our house. Who are you going to call? Chad T and the Shake Guys. Chad took over communicating with the insurance company so we hardly had to do anything. I’m not exaggerating when I say the insurance company sent 5 crews out to inspect the roof to make sure they would cover it. Chad met with them every time to make sure there was no funny business. He got them to cover the whole project and replace the inferior cedar shakes with hail proof/flame resistant Davinci shakes. They look great and are much safer.
Josh F took over when the installation for the project started. He and his team were incredibly hard working and respectful of our property. I think it took around 8 days in total (it was a large project) and the only day they didn’t work was when there was lightning. I couldn’t believe how fast they were and what a great job they did. The only downside was I felt like less of a man watching them run up the 30 foot ladder with a full stack of shakes while I could hardly move a stack 15 feet on flat ground. Not a bad thing though!
All in all I could not recommend the Shake Guys more. From start to finish you will not find a better company to work with. Thanks Chad T and Josh F and the entire crew! You did awesome!

We recently had our roof replaced by The Shake Guys. Everything in this project, from start to finish, has gone well. Chris Paulus, who initially assessed our damaged roof, has been a tremendous help to us throughout the entire process. He was always available to answer questions and to interface with everyone. His expertise, follow-through, and consistently sunny attitude made the experience a pleasant one. Our project manager, Josh F., was on site daily and was always available to answer our frequent questions and texts. The construction crew worked very long hours daily, cleaned up the site every evening, and did a very expert job installing our Da Vinci composite shake roof.
Clearly, The Shake Guys is a very well-run organization. We received several estimates to replace our roof, none of the others gave such a thorough inspection. We very highly recommend The ShakeGuys.

Chad T was extremely helpful with evaluating our roofing project and proposing reliable solutions. Chad was highly responsive and well educated on roofing products, and had several great suggestions for making our project better.

I would highly recommend The Shake Guys. Our insurance company dropped us because of our existing cedar shake roof. So to get reinsured we decided to go with a composite shake roofing material.This was not an inexpensive project. But Chris walked thru all the options of the various brands and gave us addresses of completed projects to go look at. We chose to go with the Brava Shake as it was the most realistic looking. Sal our PM on the job was also great as was the installation team. All the crew members were polite and VERY hard working. We are extremely pleased with the outcome and this we bevthe last roof the house will need.

I don't review often...but Shake Guys deserves it. Chad helped me a couple years ago with a no cost solution to a leaking roof. I told him I wouldn't do business with anyone but him in the future. When it was time to replace half my shake roof via insurance he held my hand through the process and got an outstanding approval on my behalf. Julio and his crew were exceptional. I bought a home with a shake roof and wanted to have it inspected before winter. I found a company with decent reviews through Yelp and a guy came out to look at the roof. Apologetically, he gave me the bad news that the roof needed to be replace for approximately $70,000. He said he had no reason to lie to me about it because he was not paid based on sales; he was just a specialist. I almost lost my mind.
