SERVPRO of Washington, DC

Servpro has had many organizational changes since my house was on fire in 2023 and apparently has new owners. The Servpro that I had to work with until very recently deserves a negative review. There are a few employees, of course, who were great (shout out to Antoinette, Wally and the rest of the storage staff, , sorry I don't know your names!).

I'm writing this review to highlight the efforts one employee: the 6th? maybe 7th? project manager assigned to my home, Jordan Synoground. He picked up the mess made by all the previous PMs who would quit or be fired and apparently leave no information for the next guy. Jordan managed to wade through all that muck, stop lying about progress and got my home move in ready, where so many before him dropped the ball. Respectful, thorough, timely and honest, his work on my home stands in such stark contrast to how horrible every single PM before him was that I felt compelled to write this review.

Claudia led a stellar crew (Kimberly, Mirian, Irma and Anthony) that were all so very pleasant, welcoming and kind. They did an excellent job, while being very personable, helpful and courteous. I’d recommend them to all.

Tatiana Burmudez's DC team provided exceptional mold remediation service in my unit. Their expertise, professionalism, and pleasant demeanor made a disruptive situation smooth and tolerable. I highly recommend Servpro for their high quality performance and personable customer service.

I appreciated Victor's high-quality oversight of the remediation and post- remediation service calls.He was very adept at instructing and working alongside his teams. The guys responded to his leadership, and everyone enjoyed each other's company while staying focused on their respective tasks. I also appreciated that he explained to me what was being done and why.

Viktor and his team were absolutely amazing and we couldn’t recommend them enough. We had a 2 month old baby in the house so the work that needed to be done required extra diligence and containment and they did such a great job making sure everything was secure and clean and neat when they left. They were able to remediate the issue at our home and quickly deal with new developments. They were also punctual and very communicative. We still have a follow up visit from them and we are very much looking forward to it! Thank you, everyone!

Claudia and her crew, Marian and Kimberly were amazing! They did a fantastic job taking care of the remediation process at our house. They were respectful and finished the job in a timely manner.

Not for smaller jobs. Poor follow up after a fast initial response. I called about a leak that a plumber diagnosed. They brought dehumidifiers and said they could do repairs and mitigation. After 5 days of silence, I had to hire a contractor for the actual work and also had to hassle them to come back and take the equipment. It feels like I paid them over $500 so I could coordinate schedules to pick up their equipment which my contractor could have brought to begin with.

I have been extremely impressed with Servpro’s thoroughness and professionalism. They have been patient with insurance, and immediately did the water damage mitigation work I needed. They did an excellent job with repairs, and the paint looks even better than before. I particularly felt comfortable working with them as a single female homeowner — anyone else in that situation knows contractors don’t always treat you with respect, but Servpro did. Hopefully I won’t have to hire them again, but if I need to, I know who to call!

Marvin and his associates were very professional and courteous and completed the job to my satisfaction. Everything was well prepared and looks like nothing was ever wrong. I will definitely be using the service again if needed.

Our experience is terrible!!!! Servpro was recommended to us by our building manager. We made an appointment for water mitigation and repair. The Servpro team came on 8/16/24 told us will send us an estimate by 8/20/24. They didn’t send anything. After numerous calls and taking to McKenzie manager and Cody General manager we finally got the estimate on 8/30/24. It was pretty high. From the estimate we learned this estimate was just for water mitigation not for the repair as well. We spoke with Cody he stated another team needs to come out to do measuring of the same water damage rooms as the first team. We scheduled both teams the water mitigation and repair team to come on 9/6/24. The water mitigation team opened the walls, took parts of the floor. We asked them to take the whole floor out. They said no the other team will do that. The repair team came did measuring Mathew supervisor and left. As of today 10/4/24 Mathew’s team never send us their estimate. Our walls have been opened since 9/6/24. We called the Corporate office in Tennessee they told as Erik Olson is the owner. We emailed him no response. We contacted Ken Dutton who overseas Washington DC Sevpro left him a VM. Overall experience with this company is terrible would not recommend them at all.

Lack of transparency and poor customer service from the ServPro of Northwest Washington DC - I would give them zero stars if I could. I called them for an emergency remediation appointment to which they responded and arrived for. I asked for an estimate for the work, which the supervisor told me I needed to contact the office for. I was just looking for a ballpark to provide clients. It was a 3-day job by ServPro which was completed on 8/14/24 and only consisted of placing air handlers and a dehumidifier in a property. No restoration work or anything difficult or serious. Over the course of three weeks during and after the 3-day job was completed, I attempted to contact ServPro over 15 times to obtain some kind of estimated cost for the work they performed. These attempts were made by calling their offices, texting and calling the supervisor assigned to the project, calling the corporate offices, etc. Each time someone would either pass the buck, or say they'd get back to me, to which no one did. Finally on 8/29/24 I received an email with the INVOICE (never an estimate) of the remediation work totaling over $3K, which included services that were never performed like cleanings, moving large furnishing pieces, etc. I called to ask why no one ever got back to me or would give me any idea of the cost and they said that's not their policy. They sent the "estimate" which is not really an estimate, after the work is performed. And in my case several weeks AFTER the work was completed. Further, when I tried to discuss my disappointment and the lack of transparency with their claims department, Dre Marlowe, was inherently rude and did not even have the slightest care. Further he raised his voice at me and spoke to me as if I was some kind of idiot. Marlowe in our conversation said things like "when you go to a mechanic, do you stop in the middle of the oil change to get pricing? Or when the oil change is finsihed?" What kind of customer service is this? You get the estimate for the oil change BEFORE you have them start work!

You're operating the shadiest business that is operating under DECEPTIVE BUSINESS PRACTICES. STEER CLEAR OF THESE SCAMMERS. If you call them for anything emergent, CALL SOMEONE LOCAL AND MORE HONEST that has no problems providing estimates or ball park estimates of the cost of work. Why would someone need to hide these figures unless they were planning on price gauging you. They will withhold costs from you and then slap you with some insane bill you can't justify and then they won't even care to hear how terrible the whole experience had been. NEVER AGAIN WILL I USE THIS TRASH COMPANY AND NEITHER SHOULD YOU.

I couldnt respond back to Serve-pro response telling me that I wasn't their direct client. This is prime example why their business is trash. Because your employees directly stole from me. Your employees directly broke my $1200 Bose speaker. Your employees directly dragged my $2500 90in TV across my apartment. Your employees directly misgendered me. Your employees directly installed the garbage disposal & dishwasher in wrong ON PURPOSE. Both the project manager & estimator directly ignored me when I brought it to their attention that my things were being stolen.

But yet your first response was I was your direct client...... Yep. Serve-pro is DIRECT TRASH

I had a terrible smell from deceased rodents in my lobby and community room. Claudia and her team did an excellent job of remediating the smell. It smelled of death now it smells of roses! Customer service is top notch!!…

I had part of my ceiling cave in due to water damage from my attic and SERVPRO came to my rescue. Tony, Anthony, Rashonda and another lady came out today and did an amazing job . Everyone was so friendly, helpful and very professional and it was a joy having them work with me during this very stressful difficult situation....I recommend SERVPRO any day all day.

Kitchen fire happened December 18th 2023. It is now August 2024 & restorations are STILL not complete. The Hispanic workers who barely speak English are the WORST part because not only do they drink on the job, which I have proof of. They also have stolen items out of my home, misgendered me several times, broken expensive equipment that I had in here, destroyed the work they were supposed to be fixing, and even after 8 months they STILL messed up the work. I even have Marvin recorded & admitting to the workers messing everything up. I've made them ALL aware of the issues at hand and even then drinking on the job & stealing my things & both Marvin and Johnathan never addressed those issues SERIOUSLY. Serve-pro recently came back to fix more things they destroyed. Cash popped up missing AGAIN and Serve-pro (Matt) backed out of completing the project. Please, if you're reading this RUN! LOOK ELSE WHERE!

Servpro provided quick, professional, and comprehensive assistance to repair my home after my apartment flooded. Servpro's mitigation, repair, and cleaning teams provided excellent guidance and service during an incredibly stressful time. I truly appreciate that it felt like Servpro was on my team throughout the repair process.

I just wanted to leave a comment for excellent customer service. It’s hard to come in contact with a person who is not only knowledgeable but also friendly and welcoming. I called doing some price shopping for some services and Ronny was one of the best customer service representatives i’ve come across in a long time. Each time i’ve called she’s been nothing but pleasant and helpful but also relatable in a sense. I think serv pro is extremely lucky to have a person like her apart of the team and i decided to leave a review just based off of my experience with her. If you ever need services call serv pro and speak to Ronny. she’s such a pleasant person and i will be referring everyone to this location just solely based off of my interaction with this lovely lady!

ServPro is tops - we had water damage throughout the first floor. They mitigated the damage - not an easy job but they did it quickly and properly. We engaged them to rebuild the walls, woodwork, and repainting. Their team worked nonstop and did a beautiful job. ServPro arrived when they said they would, kept us posted on the work and its progress, and were careful with our furnishings and accessories which they boxed and wrapped and arranged to be packed out and stored. Marvin, Jonathan, Veronica and their team are highly professional and capable.

Claudia and her crew did a wonderful job here at 1330 7th street. And will be using you all again soon

Jonathan and Marvin were both great in getting our quotes over and work completed in a timely manner. Our residents were extremely happy with the timeline and work completed!

I want to thank Mauricio and Johnathan for helping me through this process. They have been a big help with picking out materials for my house. They even walked through Home Depot to help me pick out items for my house. I’m forever grateful for them and my house looks amazing ♥️ Thank you guys.

However,

Matthew Biederwolf was very RUDE, UNPLEASANT and NASTY to work with. He gave me false information about what I owed. He tried to get 15,000 more for me to pay after the work was completed. He lacks customer service and threatening to take me to court. I was baffled on why when he told me how much I had to pay when he was clearly wrong. He never showed me documentation of me owing 15,000 because he didn't have any proof. Matthew depreciates the company.

I reached out to the DMV area ServPro when my DC rental property had a sudden water and mold issue in the basement. This is a team of crooks and clowns, and Monica Sanchez-Brady is the ringleader. She's wasted so much of my time. On 12/18, I reached out with a request for inspection and an estimate. ServPro showed up to see about my issue on 12/19, so far so good. They showed up ready to demolish my basement (with the approval of the tenant - say what??) and started pulling up carpet/padding and taking off baseboards without first even giving me a diagnosis of the problem, pictures, or an official estimate. I didn't give any approval for anything beyond the visual inspection and estimate, and these crooks tried to get me on the hook for paying for whatever they were trying to do to my basement. When I immediately ordered that they stop tearing things apart, they told me there was mold and then refused to give me an actual estimate for the cost of the work -- I guess this was my punishment for not letting them tear my house up during the first appointment. I followed up for a week straight, requesting photos and an estimate, and Monica Sanchez-Brady had a new excuse every day -- she blamed Dimas, then Kevin, then Tatiana for the delays in the estimate. Then suggested we schedule a second inspection. These people are so unserious. Not sure how they have the reputation they do when they treat time-sensitive issues involving health and safety (e.g. mold in a flooded basement) with no urgency.

Antonio and Anthony were excellent! They were very kind and professional. They worked diligently by making multiple trips to ensure that all items stored were returned to me. Thank you.

Dre, Lenin and their team did a phenomenal job on my apartment. They were clean, professional and didn't give up when running into unforeseen circumstances. All of them worked countless hours to ensure my home was safe and went above and beyond to correct a minor error. They are easily the most professional team I have encountered for an issue like this and you wont regret hiring them to get the job done right.

Excellent Service!!! Our whole family is so grateful to Tatiana, Oscar, Jonathan, and the whole ServePro team! They put together a clear estimate of the work and got it done in no time. Highly recommend!!!

Pedro Ortiz led an all star team through a very demanding job, involving many stairs, and many, many contractors bags of contaminated garbage. The team was always courteous and attentive to the detail of their operations while respecting my at home business spaces.

If you have the need, THIS is the team.

Once they set up the job getting in touch with the contact person is impossible. The work does not get done on schedule. The workers are ok but the people in administration are awful. They changed the estimate for the work the day the work was supposed to start. My advice is use another contractor and not a franchise operation that in my opinion is incompetent.

Tommy, and his SERVPRO team, came through for me at a very stressful time. For confidential purposes, I will not reveal all the details. I will just say that I’m glad SERVPRO came through for me.

I had a pipe leak in my unit, and SERVPRO was recommended by our management team. Tommy, With SERVPRO , showed up. He did the paperwork and his team came out and did their thing. They were very professional and respectful. Most of all, they did a great job.

Stay away from this company! They were referred to me by my insurance company (my initial response was I did not want to use them), they arrived at my home and did not complete the work, let brooms and tools in my home, the project manager came in my home (insisted that I sign documents before they began any work) and then left the sight. He left a staff of about 8 young people (no one over 25), most of them did not speak any English (so I could not communicate with them), and no one had any idea where the project leader was nor did they have a number to reach him. Now, Servpro is in dispute with my insurance company and instead of settling the claim with StateFarm they are aggressively collecting the debt from me after I said I would pay the balance if they came up with the right number because I had to get a 2nd contractor to complete the work their staff did not perform.

Reply: You are correct Servpro, my insurance company did pay me the quoted amount but you sent me an invoice for 2times that amount, which was not the amount that was agreed upon between you and StateFarm. This is evidenced by the fact that your Complaints Manager contacted me and bribed me to remove this rating. Now, without speaking to me, you secretly try to respond to the rating and attempt to give the appearance that you are wiling to work with me only proves the level of dishonesty and low moral character of your organization, this also transfers to the poor quality of your work and the fact that the person your left in my home to supervise the staff was "separated" from your company days after my project also suggests that your have poor hiring practices, as well.

Insurance referred me to them for some water damage repair. Sent someone out within hours to assess the damage, so far so good. Then the guys said they didn't know I needed reconstruction and said to call the office. The office then proceeded to tell me they are at capacity and are no longer accepting reconstruction jobs. Which is understandable except they wasted my time (and their time) sending someone out to begin with.

Julio, Oscar and all of their crew were very professional and efficient in completing their work for us. Would definitely recommend!

I would like to thank Servpro and especially Mr. Waulker Merino and his crew for his excellent work. We had water damage in our basement and Mr. Merino went above and beyond to address this issue as soon as possible. He was very responsive and caring of our needs. He communicated clearly with us and dealt with the insurance company as well. Thank you so much!

Had a great experience with all of the personnel associated with Servpro. Because of my schedule, I requested that the work be done expeditiously. They honored my request and were amazing to work with.

Update: In addition to the water remediation work described below, I want to praise ServPro's team that handles storage of personal property ("contents") while homeowners go through restoration. I worked with Veronica Solorzano and Vanessa Lucero-Mendez and their team, including Angel and Tony, who were all exceptional. They were thorough, responsive, and careful with both the moving of items to and from my home (Angel and Tony) and with the coordination of all the details, including billing with insurance which can get complicated (Veronica). Thank you again, ServPro!

I recently experienced a sewage line backup into my ground level condo and ServPro DC's water remediation team led by Kevin Ruiz was phenomenal. They came quickly, communicated clearly, and worked closely with my insurance (USAA). The carpet, wood floors, baseboards, and lower drywall was all removed rapidly to prevent mold and mildew from taking hold. I am still in touch with them to resolve some lingering issues, and they continue to be helpful. Because of the good experience I had with ServPro DC for water remediation, I will work with them on other services like pack-out and moving of my items as well, when repair work begins.

The crew’s performance was great and their quick response was highly appreciated! When I have an emergency and need help, Servpro of Bethesda will be the company in mind!

I just want say that SERVPRO was superb. I am 70yr and was overwhelmed with having to move for the repair because of flood in my apartment.They came and treated me like a queen they were so sweet professional and kind they made cry.Thank you SERVPRO.,

I was appointed bankruptcy trustee to sell a property on the 4600 block of Hayes Street NE, when a fire next door damaged the house I was in charge of. Servpro was on site within a few days. There was substantial damage to the house which required extensive work. Servpro did a excellent job in remediating the problems. House ultimately looked brand new.

We were in need of help cleaning a large ground floor area and not staffed or qualified. I had an idea of how extensive the job would be, but they knew better. Our facility was brought back to a level of orderliness that I hadn’t seen before. I plan on calling SP for these needs in future, should they come up. Thank you!

ServPro was extremely responsive and professional in remediating water damage in our home. I was very impressed and would highly recommend them.

My fiancé had a pipe compromised in her basement and Servpro came in with professional technicians and drying equipment.

They extracted water and strategically placed her furniture and valuables in such a way that their equipment was able to dry the drywall that only a lower portion had to be removed.

They were able to explain the whole process to her and I am very grateful for the service of these heroes.

On two different occasions, several apartments in my building sustained major fire/water and water damages. On both occasions, I used Servpro to demolish and restore the apartments. They worked with the urgency knowing some of my tenants were displaced and focused on getting them back in their homes. The repairs were extensive. Drywall, flooring, cabinetry and part of the roof were all damaged from fire and/or water. From the beginning to the end of both projects, Servpro technicians and leadership were professional in restoring my building. They were very responsive, professional and skilled. There was never a question that didn’t get answered, never a call that didn’t get returned. The quality of the craftsmanship of their workers exceeded my expectations. God forbid, but in the future, if I ever have a need for fire, water, mold repair, without a doubt, Servpro will be the only company I call.

The clean up in howard dorm hallways were professionally handled. The account manager was amazing. He was on top the project from start to finish. Thanks servpro for a job well done.

I ate at a restaurant that was covid cleaned by ServPro, I chose this restaurant in downtown DC ( PJ Clarkes). When walking looking for a nice lunch dining establishment I notice stickers of ServPro posted on the entry door. I asked the hostess what did these stickers mean? She responded we have been cleaned , sanitized and ready for business. I felt safe entering this establishment.
