Select put the original roof on a newly constructed home I bought in two rivers , Odenton. The house was 5 years old when the roof stated leaking. Inspection of the roof noted quality shingles installed by someone with no knowledge of how to use a nail gun (nails were left only partially nailed in & no none came behind with a hammer to tap in the nails in that did not go all the way down.) Some singles were sliced all the way thru, it was explained that this would happen when wrapped bails of shingles were opened with a utility knife , no care must have been taken to only slice thru the plastic. I still would not have seen a leak if proper overlapping of shingles had taken place. One of the men, when inspecting the roof got a nail in his boot, a nail had been left ‘standing up’ and a shingle slapped down on top of it.
It’s disgusting that this Co. has no integrity to stand behind the work that was done so poorly. The warranty offer by the builder for the roof (Classic homes of Maryland) is one year. Unbelievable, when the shingles that were used are rated to withstand 120 miles hr winds and last 30 years, are now no good because of such poor installation Pitiful , that the workmanship was so bad, that I am now replacing a roof on a home a little over 5 years old.
