Excellent customer service by Richard, Walker and Cole. They all came out, on different days doing a great job diagnosing the problem each time. They took measurements, installed drying equipment through drywall in my garage. They checked on the drying equipment, keeping me posted. Today, well groomed, professional, and respectful, Walker un-installed the drying equipment and took down the plastic wall for it. I am impressed. All are well groomed, respectful, knowledgeable, informed professionals who represent your company very well. Thank you!

I just want to say how happy and grateful we are for Richard Atkinson and the team at Rumsey Construction and Restoration. When we had a major leak in our home that caused so much damage, Richard didn’t just treat us like another job — he really took the time to help us through it all. We ran into some issues with our homeowners insurance, but Richard handled everything so professionally and made sure we were taken care of. The repairs were done beautifully and on time, and honestly, we couldn’t be happier. We’re beyond thankful for everything they did. Hands down, the best restoration company in the Carolinas that I highly recommend!

The Rumsey Company did a really good job with the repair work and putting everything back together. I was very pleased with all of the work.
William Seth explained to me how the ceiling work would be done. And then how to put the bathroom back in place.
Jordan did a good job putting the tile down in the bathroom and then setting the toilet and making sure everything was back together again.

RC&R will not disappoint!!! My upstairs shower overflowed. Water poured into the downstairs bedroom. Called Rumsey, they were out to my home the next day. Besides, high level of professionalism and customer service Rumsey brings. You can’t beat honesty and integrity from start to completion. Every step of the way my questions and concerns were addressed. Rumsey went above and beyond. I absolutely will use and refer RC&R to everyone.

RUN!!!! this company is full of scammers. My first quote was for minor water damage from a hot water heater leaking. This quote was just for them to tear down and put in fans not to repair anything and came in at almost $8k for under 150 sq ft of space between a bathroom and and pantry. They take “before” and after 3D photos but the photos they took of my home were only of my kitchen and my laundry room but neither of these areas were apart of this quote. They took no photos of the area where the work would be preformed. Their quotes clearly state this is an accurate account of the work being preformed but when i pointed out items that didn’t make sense to the scope of work and dates from 2022 and the quantities of humidifiers/fans/air movers not adding up i was told that was a mistake that they copy and paste from old jobs. How is this an accurate quote of it is a copy and paste? When i requested an actual quote with actual information the price nearly doubled for many items but they "gave me a 10% discount" for their inaccurate quoting. The second quote i received for them was for electrical work. This quote came on a totally different quote format and was for Running one neutral wire from my breaker box to my kitchen. This quote also had items listed on it that were not needed such as cutting into my wall in two different places, repairing the dry wall, skin coating, ceiling repair and painting. When I asked why these were included I was told they would need to cut into my walls in both my breaker box and my kitchen and this may damage the ceiling. Any licensed electrician knows you run a wire with a fish tape you do not need to cut into the wall especially with my clear attic access. The sales agent never went into my attic so he would not know this. It is VERY CLEAR they are running scams and just trying to charge customers for unnecessary work. After doing some research they have several other reviews for pulling the bait and switch. I had the work they quoted requoted by another company and the quotes were thousands of dollars less. Save yourself the headache and find another company.

Lowes flooded our home when they installed our washer, and we had issues with them with claims. So it took almost a month. We were told we could use whoever we wanted and we chose rumsey. Richard Atkinson jr came by and was by far the best customer service I've experienced. They were very professional and gave us a ton of detail about whats going to happen throughout the process. He constantly reassured us that they would have everything take care of us. We also have had issues with Mungo homes and a roof leak and guided us what to do and our insurance would subrogate with Mungo.

Logan was great at keeping us apprised of our mitigation timeliness. Very friendly and helpful. Clyde was super efficient in his work and pleasant. Very pleased

Our Technician - Cole, did a phenomenal job setting our expectations and kept us informed on the "the Way Ahead". Cole was very thorough in his work and answered all of my many, many questions. Our house suddenly and accidentally flooded 10 days before Christmas 2024 and my wife and I were at a loss as to how to navigate the process of mitigation and renovation. Rumsey stepped in and made everything smooth and seamless. Clifton, Cole, Walker and Logan made things as easy as possible for us. I would absolutely recommend Rumsey Construction for any home flood mitigation and remodeling. Extremely professional, helpful and knowledgeable people. 10/10 would recommend!

Rumsey was great to work with! We had water backflow from the main line that exited through the toilet. It even damaged the flooring in the hallway. Rumsey was prompt and explained the whole process. They went above and beyond. Before starting the demolition of the drywall, they put up a makeshift barrier that protected the rest of our home from the dust/debris. They got everything dry in 3 days. When it came time to pay the invoice, the insurance company was very stingy. Rumsey worked with us so we wouldn't have to pay an arm and a leg. We would definitely use Rumsey again!

If you use Rumsey for mitigation, you will experience a moderate degree of satisfaction, BUT do NOT use them for reconstruction! We wanted a fairly simple bathroom reconstruction as well as floor refinishing and sheet rock in the kitchen and we endured 1 year of poor communication, mediocre work, unexplained stalls, and unnecessary inconvenience. For example, they moved furniture out for floor refinishing in April and actual refinishing happened in August. No explanation. No apology.
That's only 1 of many problems.

We used Rumsey Construction for our kitchen repairs following a large water leak that damaged the floor and cabinets. Over the course of the project we had two project managers. The first was not great and didn’t stick with the company. The second one, Stephen Appell, was awesome and got the job done quickly and professionally. He did a great job listening to us, meeting our needs, coordinating with sub contractors, helping with design solutions, and making sure the project was done the right way. Stephen was quick to respond and very active in his communication with us. He was proactive in his approach and deliberate in his planning so that once the demolition and construction started, it was finished much more quickly than we’d anticipated. We would use Rumsey again - primarily because of his work.

Betty Phillips has been a pleasure to work with and has gone above and beyond to help our mutual customer avoid any negative impact to their payment history and credit while awaiting payment from the insurance carrier that has been lost/delayed in the mail. Recently I had a leak in my home with water damage & Walker(mitigation technician) with Rumsey Construction & Restoration was very professional, knowledgeable, & attentive. Thus far I have had a great experience with Rumsey Construction & Restoration due to Walker! 5 stars all the way!

Had a tree fall on our house and Rumsey was extremely prompt and got the tree off and roof tarped before the next storms blew in 2 days later.

Once insurance was worked out, repairs were completed within a day.

They were great to work with and communication was plentiful and helpful.

I initially left a negative review that has disappeared after they called me asking to take it down.

The mitigation portion was completed after a sewer leak. They charged $14 to pull an air register and initially tried to do all kinds of things in unaffected areas.

I was on the hook for $13k. I had read of them putting liens on people's houses before, so I paid it. Which seems cruel to do while families are dealing with a disaster in their home.

Next came reconstruction. Mike put forth a work order of $26,000 to sand a refinish my whole first floor. Wanted $90 to unplug and move a stove, $7 to pull air vents. Just ridiculously inflated stuff. At that point my eyes were opened. I began to question these things and weak excuses about company policies and "uniform appearance" were given.

They were unwilling to adjust any line items and dropped me. Leaving a plumbing disaster and things cut out that the new contractor said didn't need to be.

The new contractor is about 40% cheaper and local. Rumsey will try to maximize what they can get out of your insurance by pumping up rates and trying to do a lot of unnecessary work. This stalled negotiations for over 3 months while my son slept on the floor on a blow up mattress. They did not seem to care.

Avoid Rumsey at all costs is my advice.

Rumsey may do very good work. Their technicians may be great. But my experience with them was nothing but greed and unreasonableness in the reconstruction process. They did not negotiate with the insurance adjustor in good faith nor listen to what I wanted.

Working with Ben and Cade and the mitigation team was a pleasant experience. But, they charge higher rates than anyone in the area. As in 40-80% more per my insurance adjustor.

When I got to working with Mike Fulbright on the reconstruction, Rumsey started to show their true colors.

I had a small guest bathroom that had a water leak. However, they wanted to sand a re-stain the entire first floor of my house for $6k. Carefully read through their estimates. They were charging 90 dollars to move a stove. $7 to remove a floor vent. They wanted close to $3700 to do work in a closet that was sealed off during the demo process.

When I began questioning why they were charging so much for unskilled things like removing floor vents and trying to do work in unaffected areas he could only provide weak excuses. He was not willing to listen to the homeowner to only rebuild the affected areas.

They will use excuses like "uniform appearance" to justify their inflated rates. This is to cover up their greed to try to do as much work as they can get away with while charging higher rates.

For Rumsey it is a game to squeeze as much money out of your insurance company as they can. This delayed my project for 3 months before we mutually parted ways.

If you do not care about integrity, honesty, and having a contractor listen to what you want... go with Rumsey. If you want someone who will work with you and offer reasonable rates hire local.

We used Rumsey to clean our office carpets. Ralph & Katrina in the carpet cleaning division were outstanding and went above and beyond. Highly recommend!

Ralph and Katrina from Rumsey Construction and Restoration Carpet Cleaning came to our home and did an excellent and professional job of cleaning our carpets. The results were amazing. This carpet cleaning was needed since the end of Covid 19 pandemic, and if you use them you will be pleased with the outcome. They were sure to explain needed precautions and even left us a bottle of spot removal in case of spots in the future. Thanks for a great job.

Ralph and Katrina of the Carpet Cleaning Division. They arrived on time, was professional. Performed a very thorough cleaning in our carpets. Answered all our questions. They did an excellent job also gave us tips on how to maintain our carpets after the cleaning. When they left the carpets looked new.

The 3 men who did the mitigation phase of the repairs required as a result of the damage caused by a leaking water heater did an outstanding job. They were professional, courteous, neat, informed, deliberate in carrying out their work, and explained their operation when we asked questions and when they felt it necessary to explain the what and why. They displayed patience and were sympathetic to our impatience. They worked as a team however were very responsive to their apparent team leader. They are assets to the company in their work ethic and concern for the customer.The names of the men were Clifton, Keegan and Clyde.

Carpet Cleaning Division Ralph did and amazing job in Cleaning of carpets that had been soiled from a contractor while replacing bathroom flooring.The carpet is spotless and beautiful once again. Rumsey was referred to me by my insurance company for water mitigation and reconstruction as result of some water damage our home sustained. The job is not 100% complete as of this review, but I'd still like to make known the excellent job that Clif and his crew have done. They communicate well through the process, arrive when they say they will, and do great work carefully. If you're in need of any home restoration or construction give them a call.

The caliber of work on my family’s home hasn’t started off well!! Poor communication and subpar workmanship. Plenty of lip service but the actual workmanship is NOT of good quality… Not every client is dumb and naive, if you’re going to take a job, do a good job!!! If not, then don’t take the job!!!

Rumsey Construction and Restoration has an extraordinary team of Employees. I had an unfortunate incident that occurred at my home. I made the initial call to Rumsey. The female that answered the phone was charismatic a customer service oriented. She said that she would have some respond to my residence immediately. Within 30 minutes, Richard Atkinson, Field Supervisor arrived. He began his assessment. He was thoroughly and meticulously assessed the damage. He genuinely seemed to care about my issues and his customer care skills were impeccable. He assisted me with everything that I needed and coordinated with his team to respond.

Next, Dimitrius Kerahaw arrived. I cannot commend him enough for his caring attitude and the assistance that he provided in setting up equipment to minimise additional damage. He went above and beyond to cover some areas in my home that will facilitate my family’s adjustment until the damage is fixed and our home is restored.

This company has made customer service as its priority and should be an example to other companies in times where true customer service is obsolete. I recommend Rumsey Construction & Restoration to anyone who is in need of Construction and Restoration Services.

Last year September, I had my son and was out of work for Month. My insurance company S**ted me with what I was suppose pay Rumsey with ( I was misinformed after asking 5 times as a new homeowner) My water heater blew the hot water. I called Rumsey after looking at reviews and crossing my fingers. They not only fixed it as far as patched the leak but they also took out the moisture. It was time to pay and well......I didn't have it. 2 months after I had my son , my mother passed. 6 months after I loss my Mother in law and Brother in law 3 days apart from each other. Of course , at this time I'm behind with Rumsey and things are tough as a single mother with 2 kids under the age of 10 with a full time job . Ms.Stephanie Colon ............I will never forget her name, her patience, her understanding, her remorse, her everything. She's the assistant manager of their collections department. When I tell you this lady figuratively held me in her arm the whole time , she was definitely sent from heaven. She understood my situations. She worked with me. We kept communication if things changed or if I couldn't make it due to financial reasons.
If I was to EVER meet her in person , I would hug her until my arms grew tired. I hope that Rumsey really takes care of her for the holidays with gifts or whatever it is. She deserves anything.

Rumsey Construction and Restoration has been such an incredible team to work with! They were timely in their response, getting someone out to inspect a day after our initial call to insurance. Clifton and Walker were so kind, knowledgeable and respectful. They were always sure to ask if I had any questions for them before they left and sure to tell me all the things they were doing while at my home. We had water damage due a faulty washing machine, but would hire this team a thousand times over again.

Was in a battle with insurance and Rumsey saved the day. William was a huge help and went above and beyond to help us along the way on get our house done! Highly recommend!

If you need any restoration work done, I highly recommend going with Rumsey!! We had a pipe burst last December and were dealing with some pretty bad insurance backlash that ultimately dragged out the process longer than it should’ve. Our project manager, William Gregory, worked with us for many months to help get insurance on the same page. Once the work started, he answered any questions we had about the project (there were a lot since we didn’t know the first thing about construction!) and stopped by our house multiple times to personally check on the progress.

Hopefully we never find ourselves in this situation again, but if we ever did, Rumsey is the place we would go to.

William has been so great with helping us get our house back together! He has been a very dependable & responsive. Highly recommend this company!

Ralph & Katrina in the Rumsey Carpet Cleaning Division were fantastic. They arrived on schedule, paid extra attention to pet spots on carpet. They made sure the carpets had dried completely, and even checked the next two days to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. Then gave a complimentary bottle of spot cleaning remover to myself and 4 neighbors.

My family has worked with Rumsey on both the emergency rescue side of the company and the renovation side over the last two years, and I'm going to have a hard time staying concise here because I can't say enough good things about our experience with Rumsey Construction & Restoration.

First, renovation. Our project is ongoing, but near completion. Following plans from our amazing architect at Architrave, Rumsey has made our dream home into a reality. They've refined and repaired both the interior and the infrastructure of the old portion of the home, as well as built a stunning new addition. What was a beautiful historic home with character but a lot of issues they have transformed into an elegant, modern, updated, and functional space. We are so grateful in particular to Lance Brooks for his work leading the project, and to company owner, Tony Rumsey, for his responsiveness to our concerns from the beginning. Any time we have relayed a concern, they have promptly responded to us. We've had a few times where issues have come up that needed a response on a weekend and they've been on it. Mr. Brooks has called in crews where needed and personally done some of the handiwork, taking care and time to do work right. We also appreciate Sean Martin's careful and detailed work installing built-in bookshelves in our house custom built by Mr. Rumsey. I'm bad at remembering names and there have been many fine craftsmen and trades folks involved in this project--we appreciate all of their work! Any of those reading this review who have worked on our project, please accept our thanks!

On the rescue side...well, there's nothing delightful about a sewer line back up flooding your basement/garage, especially late at night...but it was delightful to see Rumsey's emergency clean up crew show up a mere 20 minutes after I called them, and it was delightful to work with Mr. Demetrius and Mr. Clifton. They thoroughly sanitized and cleaned, leaving the garage in better condition than it was before the need for their services arose. They were kind, warm, polite, and professional, clarifying the scope of the work they needed to do and then getting to it. The company had a plumber out the following morning to snake the line, and made suggestions for additional service providers we could contact to ensure this wouldn't happen again. Ben followed up a few days later, removing the fans and other equipment once he confirmed everything was cleaned to their professional standards. Unfortunately, a few years ago, we had a sewage backup after a contractor from another company left debris in the line. At that time, we used a different company and the contrast of that bad past experience against the incredible experience we had with Rumsey underscored to me the professionalism and skill of RCR.

While we still have some work ahead in the weeks ahead, I couldn't wait to share our wholehearted endorsement of their work with the community. I emphatically recommend Rumsey for any of your renovation or emergency needs. I've known lots of people who have renovated and few who have a good relationship with their builders at the end. The ongoing professionalism and positivity in our relationship with RCR has been the best part--renovating is fraught with challenges and expenses, but it doesn't have to be an ordeal. Thanks to Rumsey, for us, it's overwhelmingly been a pleasure. I highly recommend them and their services.

They restored our home (master bath and living room) after the great southern freeze of December 2022. Our Project Manager (Will Gregory) was incredibly responsive and communicative. He patiently answered our many queries and walked us through the whole process. If he didn't know an answer, he was great about finding it and then closing the loop.

We were very pleased with our experience with Rumsey, from our estimator David to our project manager William. David got his estimations in very quickly. William did a ton of heavy lifting. He made sure all the subcontractors were the best fit for my specific job, he stayed on top of them the whole time, and he kept me constantly informed. I woke up two weeks ago to the sound of running water and found out the water supply line to the toilet had broken and flooded the house while I slept. Rumsey Construction & Restoration sent out their technician who was on call that Saturday. Tiffany Overton was very professional. She gave me a time frame of when she would arrive, assessed the damage, walked me through the process of what’s to come and ensured all my questions were answered. I am very appreciative!

Richard was phenomenal! His knowledge base and professionalism was unprecedented. He provided our family with peace of mind- which was priceless to us. I highly recommend Rumsey Construction and Restoration for any mold or restoration concerns- definitely ask for Richard!

I would like to leave a review for our home and project manager, William Gregory. He came in on the second half of our claim after water damage that we had and he was very on top of the situation. Always kept in touch with us on what was going on or asking questions and making sure the workers were doing what they were supposed to and fixing the problem that they didn’t , so I would definitely say that he is an asset to your company and hope he stays with you for a long time. They had to re-do my kitchen floor after the laminate flooring cracked. What should I do have been a one day job has turned into a month with no completion date in sight. Delays, installers show up late, or not at all. My next stop is BBB and move forward from there.

Rumsey Construction and Restoration came to my rescue on Christmas Eve this past year at a property I manage after a flood from a broken pipe. They jumped right in and took care of the water removal and mold issues. They had a plan and executed it with professionalism and understanding to the high emotions we were all dealing with. Their knowledge and planning are superb.

If I could give a half star, I would. Our experience with Rumsey went from trusting and professional, to downright creepy and suspicious. During the freeze on before Christmas Eve last year, we suffered a pipe burst in our master bedroom which caused significant damage there and in our kitchen. Our plumber recommended Rumsey to perform the water mitigation and possible restoration services. When their team arrived, they were friendly and professional. We informed them that our insurance was through USAA to which their team stated they have a long standing relationship with them and that all should go smoothly. During the process, we found this to not be the case. Rumsey did not follow standard instructions to obtain approval to perform work (in fact, they told us that they were approved to perform to which USAA stated they were not). This of course sent a red flag to USAA and began to scrutinize their work and claim. When the bill for the water mitigation and initial restoration process was submitted to USAA, they pushed back and felt the claim needed a high level of scrutiny. Rumsey became very impatient (remember, they stated that they had a great working relationship with USAA). They threatened my wife and I with placing a lien on our property. We felt this was very unprofessional as they were in negotiations with USAA at the time. Why would you threaten legal action with an existing customer when there was possibly thousands more in revenue for the remaining restoration portion (it really seemed very odd and creepy)? Nevertheless, USAA finally agreed to pay their claim and sent us a check to pay them. USAA informed Rumsey as well. However, to our utter surprise and contempt, Rumsey went ahead and placed a lien on our house anyway (two days after receiving the news that they were being paid)! I immediately called the law firm representing Rumsey and informed them that USAA agreed to pay, we have the check, and this was extremely unprofessional of your client to move forward with a lien. The attorney immediately cancelled the lien and apologized on behalf of Rumsey. We of course, moved on to a different contractor as result. It appears Rumsey's office administrator was overzealous in her approach and their claims of relationship with USAA were untrue. We will never use Rumsey for anything and I recommend all who do, please get everything in writing and ensure your insurance company approves any work before they start. They showed very little compassion and patience at a time of great disruption to our home and family.

First off, I would like to state that I struggled with the rating. Back on December 10th, 2022, I had water damage stemming from an upstairs toilet that went down to the garage. Initially, Rumsey was great. They came out on the weekend and Max was a solid guy. I can’t say the same with his supervisor Ben Reece. Ben was initially responsive but then went M.I.A. It took him approximately a month before the estimate was sent to my insurance company. Once they responded with updates, it took him another 3 weeks to follow up. After countless phone calls to Ben I had to resort to reaching out to higher channels. He basically ghosted me. Once I received the insurance money and the mitigation portion was paid I was assigned a Project Manager who came over to the house on his last day of work. Of course all the questions that I had were never forwarded to the appropriate parties until I had to escalate to a higher channel. Now this where my rating comes into play. A new Project Manager William Gregory was assigned to me. He was a mover and shaker. He sped up the process to get my house back in order. He responded back to me via phone or text timely while never feeding me BS. My rating solely goes to the efforts of William Gregory along with Max. These were the only individuals that I encountered with integrity and honesty. Rumsey, I hope you value your hard working employees as you do your customers (wink wink). Hopefully, you reward these individuals with more than a pat on the back. Based on my experience I could have easily went a different direction but I wanted to recognize individuals of high character.

While out of town, my wife had a catastrophe in that our hot water heater supply line ruptured. Rumsey Construction and Restoration was at our house almost immediately. Ben and Clifton are awesome! The team has done such a great job at assessing the damage, taking care of the remediation, and getting our house ready to be restored. I can't thank you enough.

Our bathroom was damaged due to a leak and rather than simply repair the damage we decided to update it instead. Rumsey did the clean up so we decided to use them for the upgrade and we are glad we did. There was a quality issue that I did not recognize/notice. Rather than let it go, Rebecca made sure the work was corrected because she didn't want their name to be behind work that didn't meet their standards. I would have never noticed this and I thought it was great for them to get the work done correctly and not leave it up to me to notice. Since I'm not in the construction field, it's unlikely I would ever notice. I would definitely use Rumsey again for my future renovation plans.

Will and Clifton were very professional and kept me informed about the process of the project. I would recommend Rumsey Construction to anyone who needed restoration work

If you need restoration and construction services, look nowhere else, except for Rumsey construction. I could not be happier with the work they’ve done so far. Clifton, Ben, Cade Were outstanding representatives of Rumsey construction. Their knowledge and professionalism were second to none. They informed me of what was happening every step of the way during the restoration process.

I highly recommend Rumsey Construction & Restoration. I was assigned to Project Manager Kevin Collins. He's outstanding! Kevin is very helpful, knowledgeable, and professional. He goes above and beyond for his clients. When I have concerns and questions Kevin was always there to assist. I was very blessed to have him on this project. Thank you Kevin for giving me my dream bathroom and kitchen.

Rumsey has been great to work with so far, and we're looking forward to working with them moving forward! Richard, Ben, Clifton and Kade have been terrific!

Prompt, helpful, explained the process. Clifton, Will, Max and Ben were wonderful to have in the house even if they did have to tear the bathroom to the studs. Not responsive. It's been 3 weeks since my first call to set up an appointment for an estimate. My information was taken and I was told someone would contact me to schedule an appointment. After a week, I called again and confirmed my information. I still haven't heard from them.

The team assigned to my project where absolutely amazing. Cade, Clifton, and Max were responsive, extremely professional and friendly. They answered all my questions and provided education on the process and next steps. I highly recommend this team as an example of what customer care should look like and replicate throughout your organization. Great job hiring these guys!

We had a slow leak from our dishwasher drain hose not being fully tightened. It had gone on for months. Once realized, and after we dealt with our insurance company, we call Rumsey. They were on site that day. The mitigation was much more extensive than we realized, as was the need to demolish our kitchen. The Reconstruction Team (lead by Will) was fabulous. New custom cabinets, new floors and new countertops. Will even came in after the first group of floor guys had come and said "this is unacceptable". He had a different group come back and redo the project. We didn't realize what a difference it would make. Will is professional, listens to his customers and has an innate ability to "get things done". Although I hope we never have the need to use their services again, if we do, we will use Rumsey. If Will had 10 stars, we'd give him that!!
