Richmond Slate Repair

Richmond Slate Repair replaced the original flashing on our 75 year old slate roof and fixed some loose nail leaks. The methods they used for the new flashing were superior to the original construction, resulting in an upgrade in structural integrity and confidence in their work. The crew are true craftsmen and I plan to have them do additional work.

Our 1920 home had several roof issues, mostly stemming from deferred maintenance and sloppy, band-aid repairs by previous owners. Wyatt and his crew identified and corrected problems with improperly installed flashing on a complicated slate roof and then installed a new standing-seam copper roof to replace the original over the front porch. Their approach to the entire process was thoughtful and clear, and the quality of their work is outstanding. It's obvious that they care for their work and take pride in the results. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Richmond Slate were the only ones to take the time to respond, gave a fair quote for a price I was expecting, and showed up to work right away. Their finished work looks and matches the original roof and slate. They even replaced a couple of additional broken tiles before those became an issue. I had dealt with a roofing company for slate repair about 20 years ago, but this company did a much better job. Well worth giving them a call.

I was sent a quote for a completely different job, with pictures of the wrong house, performing different tasks, with a roof that was in an entirely different condition (damaged gutters, ripped up gutter cap, and what appeared to be damage from falling limbs) When I pointed that out (I have no trees next to my house, have had no fallen limbs, and the gutters and cap are newly installed and in great condition), I received an edited quote, with no pictures of the condition of my roof, with the exact same price. Shady, and not in the "keep cool" way, and I'm definitely taking a pass on these unprofessional jokers.

I have a concrete tile roof which is difficult to find anyone willing to work on it. I hired Wyatt and his team to do repairs after a previous roofer incorrectly installed flashing around a skylight. I was very impressed by their professionalism, quality of work, and customer service. They arrived on time, completed the job within the estimated time frame, and cleaned up the site afterwards. Wyatt also explained the process and the materials they used, and answered all my questions patiently. They were very courteous and respectful of my property and my neighbors. I hired Wyatt shortly later because a leak showed up in a valley in a different part of the roof.

I contacted Wyatt to evaluate and repair a roof leak in the second floor bathroom.. He came out, identified the leak and promptly provided a cost estimate. On the day of the scheduled repair, his crew arrived on time and started the work. They subsequently found another hidden and larger leak above the enclosed porch. Part of his estimate includes contingencies like this, and so there was no surprise.
Overall, it was a very pleasant experience.

You want these guys to work on your roof! Very responsive, courteous, on time, old school approach to customers, but adapted to easily work with with proposals on the Web, text and via email. Usually I do my own home repairs, carpentry, electricity, etc it's an old Richmond crafts house. Total confidence Wyatt will take care of the slate roof however, I can't get up there to even look so it's a matter of trust.

I highly recommend this company if you have an old slate roof. Our home is 116 years old, and the original slate is in need of TLC. Wyatt offered a detailed proposal that was broken down by urgency. We did the most urgent, and now have a guide for the future. It's certainly not cheap, but a new roof that would be acceptable would be considerably more. Wyatt and his crew are very professional, and we would gladly have them back when needed. They went above and beyond with the work that was done.

Wyatt and his crew replaced a 75-year tin roof on a portion of my home in Westover Hills. Wyatt's craftsmanship was outstanding and his attention to detail was exemplary. We contacted his company to advise us on the best option to repair our leaky tin roof which was not in need of total replacement. Wyatt provided us a cost quote to repair the tin roof and a separate cost quote for total replacement of the tin roof with an aluminum roof. We chose the tin roof replacement after multiple discussions with Wyatt. Wyatt removed the 75-year tin roof and started to install the aluminum roof, but there were unforeseen issues with the aluminum fabrication. Wyatt advised us to install a more expensive copper roof but did not bill us for the additional cost of the copper or for the cost of rework from removing a portion of the aluminum roof. Wyatt treated us with a high degree of professionalism and integrity. He invested many hours of his personal time to insure that we were pleased with our roof replacement project. In short, we feel confident that we received a top quality job and are very pleased with the entire project. Our slate roof in Blackstone leaked for four years. We contacted several roofers, none of whom were willing to tackle the job . Finally, a contractor gave us a price and we agreed upon it. We never saw him again. After some research, we contacted Wyatt who responded in a very timely manner. He explained to us what the problem was and gave us an estimate in 2 days. I have nothing but good things to say about Wyatt and the work his company did for me. I have a 100+ year old home. The roof angle is steep and it’s slate. I’m not going up there. The roof was leaking around the chimney and evidence of that was in a bedroom. The ceiling was falling in one spot.

He and his guys showed up on time. I was informed of everything found and being done as it was found and being done. If you take a look at the last picture he stayed late and worked in the dark and then came back the next morning.

His prices were 10%-15% higher than the other estimates I received, but I went with him because of the things he said that other company didn’t mention.

This company is a credit to the roofing trade and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone for slate roof repair.

We have an asbestos tile roof and had been unable to find anyone willing to come inspect the roof because of a leaking problem. Wyatt came to inspect the roof and told us that the roof was fine but need resealing at the peaks and some windows. He said that it was not a bit job and would go to Lowes for the materials and would complete the work today. We were very pleasantly surprised, we just expected an inspection. Wyatt and his assistant stayed until well after 6 pm to complete the work. I strongly recommend him for anyone's roofing needs.

Discovered a leak around my chimney last week and needed to get it fixed as soon as possible due to the wet season starting. I have a leak in my gutter where the water was running to the back and flow down the side wall. Richmond Roof Repair was very responsive and was able to come to take a look at the problem and did the repair the same day. It was very reasonably priced and fixed the problem. I would definitely called them again for any future roofing needs.
