This company was the greatest to work with on my roof and gutter/screens. Very professional and I thought the price really reasonable. I definitely would consider RDK for any future projects!!

Kleinschmidt did an excellent job with our roof and skylight installation. A job done right and in one day. We really like our new skylights, which have remote-controlled shades that help keep our house cool on hot summer days.

The Kleinschmidt team was very well organized for the day. Of course, getting the roof done was chaotic and busy, at the end of the day they cleaned up beautifully and we've been quite happy with the finished work.

We had our roof replaced this summer after 24 years with the previous roof. That first roof was also installed by Kleinschmidt and the only problem over the years occurred in May with a leak that developed after a section of shingle was displaced. Based on our previous experience, we decided to go with Kleinschmidt again and everything seems to have been performed satisfactorily. One of the issues that has occurred with regularity when work of this sort (gutters, siding, etc.) is damage to plantings especially around our large front porch and the inevitable appearance of nails and staples around . We had some of these issues but relatively minor.

Kleinschmidt Roofing did a very professional job and were extremely careful to avoid damaging plants. The crew was polite and friendly. Also I felt the cost was very reasonable.

Thanks to the entire staff @ RDK they did an amazing job on our roof. Totally professional from quoting through completion. Ty was the only rep to get up on the roof before quoting it. The price was best of the 3 quotes, with the best warranty. When it came time to do the work the weather was questionable but I was assured it would be fine. Oh boy was it. I didn't count but there had to be 10 -12 guys on the roof. All done before the rain hit. Just simply amazing staff and crew. The entire experience was a pleasure. This should be everyone's go to company!

RDK replaced our roof, gutters, and fascia. They went above and beyond to make sure we were absolutely satisfied with the job, taking the time to ensure it was done right. Randy was great to work with and I would recommend them to anyone looking to upgrade their home.

My "go to" company for home improvements. This time it was garage/pole barn siding. Professional, quality work and they clean up at the end of the day.

New 4,000 sq/ft pole barn needed gutters. Estimator was on schedule for estimating quote. Quote was in line with other professional bids. Requested proof of insurance and received with no issues. The crew was timely, and honest with me. I asked early on not to scratch the metal roof, they were honest enough to fess up and repair. Just one down spout didn’t align with my PVC collection pipe, they had to put a bend in the downspout mid walk to meet the PVC pipe. In the end I told the crew boss I’ll cut the PVC below grade and adjust, then I’ll straighten the downspout. The one down spout is the only reason I didn’t give the company five stars. I would hire this company again.

I first used R.D. Kleinschmidt over 25 years ago when I had extensive hail damage. They replaced my roof, siding, gutters and windows. The work was impeccable.

My roof was still in good shape, but I wanted to replace before it was needed. Most of the other roofs in my neighborhood that had been hail damaged had already replaced.

R.D. Kleinschmidt did not disappoint! They had excellent pricing, and were willing to work with my schedule. The work crew was respectful of my property, and easy to communicate with. The clean up was complete, and the small repairs I needed in addition to the roof were done at a great price.

I have had RD come out and do all of my outbuildings over the years and the always do a great Job. The team is friendly and professional and the jobs look great.

Our barns are about 150 years old. The structure itself is solid and will last another generation. But it was really deteriorating beyond our ability to keep up. We weighed our options, and though we love the wood look, siding just seemed more practical (and cost effective). Because of our prior experience with roof work, RD Kleinschmidt was a no-brainer. After a positive experience with RDK at a previous residence for gutter installation, they were first on our list to contact when we purchased a new home that needed the roof replaced. We wanted a solid roof job so we could later pursue getting solar panels. When we saw the solar shingles option on the RDK website, we absolutely wanted to learn more. The more we learned, it seemed like a really great option for us. The entire process, from initial consultation to generating solar energy was approx 5 months which included the design and permit process and all applications /coordination with DTE. We could not be more pleased with the work - both in efficiency and quality - the communication, results, and support of our roofing project with both asphalt and solar shingles. We would absolutely call on RDK again and recommend to others.

Kleinschmidt replaced our roof in November 2025. We chose them because their bid was competitive, they have a great reputation in our neighborhood of houses built in the 1950s 1960s, and they did not employ any pressured upselling or marketing techniques. Our roof has had issues that we've been trying to fix for years. Once the roof was open, Kleinschmidt located the issues one by one and came to us with proposed fixes. They listened and answered our questions, and then they moved forward with solutions. Our roof is not only re-shingled, it's fixed. I appreciate the quality of the work, the communication and problem-solving, and the basic neighborliness of the whole experience. Highly recommend.

RDK installed a new exterior door on my house and reinstalled my existing storm door. RDK did a great job with the install and spent extra time ensuring that everything was perfect given that my door frame was particularly difficult to work with. I had some nice trim around the interior of the door that RDK saved and reinstalled at no extra cost despite it adding time to the install. When there was an issue with my lock, Chris (my sales rep) came out the next day to troubleshoot and ultimately replaced it at no cost to me. Great company to work with throughout the process and I'm very happy with the finished work.

We were very pleased with our experience with Kleinschmidt. They responded to our concern about a leak in our roof on the same day we called. They fixed the leak and indicated that we probably needed a new roof. Our roof was 25 years old and had been installed by them. We decided to have a new roof done, and it was installed less than three weeks later in a span of eight hours. They took great care to protect our property and landscaping while they were working and they did an excellent job of cleaning up afterwards except for a couple of nails. Very professional and efficient . We would have no qualms about recommending them to others.

We have had been targeted by several door knocking roof companies which all told us we need a new roof because visual streaking on the shingles was indicative of bigger problems... Ryan came to our house, reviewed the roof, told us that our roof still had about 10 years of life left. He found that the streaking was entirely cosmetic due to a combination of shade, roof shape, and water run off. He even recommended a store bought product that could be used to protect against additional cosmetic damage.

While we did not end up using their service this time, I wanted to leave a review because of their candor in not quoting our roof for replacement.

We will definitely contact Kleinschmidt again when we do need roof work!

Requested both a roof replacement quote and re-flashing quote on chimney. Quotes were competitive with other companies on both requests. We ended up going with a repair. The repair was scheduled promptly, and they were flexible on dates and times. When the date of the work came, their employees arrived early, worked quickly, and did a great job! All in all, a great company to work with in the Ann Arbor area, and will be using them again when I end up needing the roof replaced.

It was a pleasure dealing with this company, from requesting an estimate to completion of the project. Good work at a fair price is what RDK offers.

R.D. Kleinschmidt provided the most detailed and cost-effective estimate to remove a disused chimney and patch the roof. The day the work was performed, the weather conditions were very poor. We questioned whether the crew should perform the work in heavy rain/thunderstorm conditions, but they went ahead. They had to stop several times and protect the work site on our roof with a tarp. They did complete the project in one day to our satisfaction and the patch has held up through the winter. The initial bill got lost in the mail; when we received a past-due notice, the office was quick to waive the late fee. Overall RDK was easy to work with and did a good job.

I’ve used RDK twice for some new gutters and have found them to be honest, cost competitive and reliable. I would not hesitate to recommend them for any project.

My family has done business with RD Kleinschmidt, Inc. for decades. They recently responded to perform temporary repairs to our roof when a large tree damaged the roof. They later replaced the roof. They were true to their bid, and the crew respected our property. We ended up with a spectacular new roof, and the property was cleaner when they left than when they arrived.

I selected RDK to do major jobs on my house this summer: 1) replace roof and add insulation, and 2) cover fascia, soffits and other exposed wood with aluminum. They did an excellent job on both projects.

My neighbor Charlene and Paul recommended them, and I contacted by e-mail and phone, made all contract arrangements by e-mail to save my time. All staff and the president were very friendly and efficient and few days later a team of 4 came in a Friday morning, saw the access difficulties in terrain and 1 went back for more and bigger ladders. By 10AM the work yard organization was completed, and they start removing the old roof, and replaced it with a new one, and by 4pm they finished, took 2 h to cleanup the 2 yards perfectly, and left living behind a new roof, looking nice and being worked at a high quality level. The team of 4 synchronized perfectly, being very efficient in actions, and I was happy as it was done so fast, and so good. I warmly recommend them delivering a very good quality/price ratio in shortest possible time.

From bid to trucks rolling out of the driveway (1 day tear off and install) everyone was great to work with and installers went to great lengths to protect the gardens around the roof area.

They did our roof back in 2014 and it was a word-of-mouth referral. When the Hail storm hit and we had roof damage, we didn’t hesitate to call them. The team was here at 7am and they protected our property wherever they could. The clean up was very thorough and our roof looks great! Great company.

Kleinschmidt’s truly exceeded my expectations when it came to resolving an issue with my new roof. We have a very complex roof that is non standard and needed additional ventilation added which itself was pretty unusual. We encountered a slight leak in a tricky area of the roof but they promptly returned the next morning to address the problem. Not only did they fix the issue, but they went above and beyond with their solution, reshingling the area, showing a commitment to excellence. Purchasing a new roof and gutter system for our home and an out building was easy with R.D. Kleinschmidt, Inc. We got several quotes for the job and prices varied greatly. The quote from R.D. Kleinschmidt was about mid-ranged as far as price goes but the presentation, by their sales person, Ryan, was more of an education on various products and options than the hard push sales pitch we got from the other companies. Additionally, we were impressed with all the preliminary work Ryan did, taking measurements and photos, to create his quote for the work. Ryan has actual personal experience with putting roofs on so he could tell us exactly what to expect.

The hardest part for us was choosing the color. Ryan left several samples and when we couldn’t decide, Kleinschmidt’s dropped off more samples. When we were still undecided, they gave us addresses of homes so we could see some full-sized examples of what the colors looked like. All through that process everyone at Kleinschmidt was courteous and patient.

When it came time for installation, everything went like clockwork – just as Ryan said it would. The roofing part was completed in one day and the gutter work the day following.

One of the reasons we chose Kleinschmidt was that we wanted to have just one company to do both roof and gutters. We didn’t want to deal with a gutter subcontractor or as one salesman said “I know a guy who helps me out with gutters sometimes”.

The Kleinschmidt teams were friendly but professional. I liked it very much that they took special care of the many foundation plantings we have around both structures. The after-sale customer service has been great. Questions after instillation were answered quickly and to our satisfaction -with the same courtesy as before.
