Prestige Deck & Fence

I've waited almost 8 months to post this review because I wanted to see how our new deck weathered. First off, we had somewhat of a challenging deck project because the vast majority of homes in Idlewild have detached garages, and we wanted a one level, elevated deck that would span from the back of our home to the back of the garage. Additionally, we wanted a freestanding deck with no ledger boards screwed into the house or garage. My wife and I are both engineers, so we developed an engineering drawing to illustrate our design requirements prior to meeting with a variety of deck companies. Five other deck builders simply refused to do a freestanding deck, but when we met with Jeff from Prestige, he immediately understood our vision. Before we signed the contract with Prestige, one company revisited us and said they'd do a freestanding deck, but their cost estimate was more than double that of Prestige, and that was only for pressure treated deck board versus the composite board (DuraLife) that Prestige proposed!

Prestige used our engineering drawing to develop a detailed 3D rendering that easily got HOA approval. The work crew did a phenomenal job digging the required footers, by hand no less, and building the framing, which nearly 560 square feet. We even asked them to add additional framing supports for areas where we planned to have an umbrella (500 pounds) and fire table (300 pounds). The most beautiful part was that not one piece of the framing touched our house or garage, andno ledger boards were required.

The only area that I'd say the jury is still out is the DuraLife deck boards. While you see a lot of advertising from companies like Trex, DuraLife is a much smaller company, and they've developed an interesting fastening system where plastic clips are nailed into the deck beams and the deck boards "snap" in. Thus far, we've had about 4 instances where the board has detached from the clips, and it couldn't be snapped back into place. In these cases, we called Prestige and they promptly sent a person to screw the deck board into the beam and added a color matched plug so that the repair was barely visible. So far, the deck boards have weathered very well with no signs of fading or warping, and they do a good job of reflecting the sun.

To this point I could not be happier with the deck or Prestige's quality work and would highly recommend them to anyone!!

I paid the initial deposit, which I understand to be 10% of the total project cost. About two weeks later, the company sent detailed drawings for HOA approval. The process was smooth, and we received approval easily thanks to the thorough work of Prestige Deck & Fence. We are excited about the upcoming renovation, which is scheduled for late October.

I must mention Alex, the owner, who has been exceptionally responsive and supportive throughout this process. My satisfaction with the company’s service so far has been high, and I am eagerly anticipating the completion of our deck renovation.

The team is terrific! Brandon was wonderful at working with our quirky existing deck and making everything work out to a polished result. We are super impressed with all the router work that makes things pleasant and safer as well as the extra effort to make the gates match and fit perfectly for each spot. The whole family keeps walking outside, looking around and saying, 'aaaahhhh'.

Our project started back in October and ended at the beginning of March. Throughout this process we couldn't be happier with the work that went into our deck from start to finish. We had our estimate on an October morning. Jeff took into account what we wanted and actually listened to what we were hoping to design in our new deck. Unlike another estimate we had, Jeff really listened to us and made our project what we wanted rather than what we should have.

Once we signed the paperwork Prestige took care of everything from the building permits, setting up an electrician for the electric work, and the disposal of our original deck.

When construction started the crew worked diligently and safely. They made sure materials were cleaned up for the day, made sure our gate was shut when they left, and just took great care with this project.

Our experience with Prestige could not have been better! It started with the first phone call (within literal minutes of me submitting a 'Contact Us' form) with the professional and positive office staff. To my initial appointment with Jeff (early, forgiving of obnoxious dogs, a great conversationalist and super professional). The bid came exactly when he said it would and he and Alex followed up. Hiring Prestige became a no brainer. Once the job started, the guys came early every day, finished on time and even tolerated our dogs "assistance". They were hard-working, light hearted and overall a joy to have at the house. I love that I had a crew dedicated just to our home. Look, decks aren't cheap, but every single person and interaction made every penny worth it! THANK YOU!!

My project was small and it involved adding a privacy screen above a section of already installed deck railing. Prestige was very accommodating providing me with EXACTLY what I wanted to the point that we exchanged pictures and drawings. The work was scheduled, Len and James arrived on time and the project was completed accurately, including the caps matching the height above the top railing so it matched the rest of the rail styling.

Not only does this company do excellent work, but it is very well organized right down to detailed instructions on how to complete contracts and payments on line. I would highly recommend them!

We recently had our patio enclosed with Prestige Deck and Fence. They did an excellent job as you can see in the picture. Their crew was on-time and professional. This was the second time we have used their services, they also built our deck and screened in porch. The guys even power washed our patio when finished. Their price is fair, and the work is exceptional.

Got a Sunset Awning installed. Len, James, and Jason came prepared and on time. They were quick, efficient, and very courteous -- and believe it or not minimally disruptive. The awning looks great and we'll enjoy it for years to come!

I had a great experience using them for my screen in. The workers were on time and cleaned up before they left. Management kept me informed of any issues or changes and what their plan was to remedy it. Management took time to explain the details and provided great input. The cost was excellent when you look at the quality and the service combined. I recommend them and will use for any future projects.

People were wonderful to work with from the estimator, office staff to the workers doing the repair. They did a wonderful job on my deck and reinstalling my brick patio around the work. I will use them again for future projects. I gave 4 stars because their payment method needs to be improved and it would have been nice to know when the workers were done so we could have looked at the work before they left, just in case there had been an issue. But overall wonderful service and repair and I would recommend them.

Update: They sent a thank you card for using their business. Wow, you do not run into that these days so it is nice they show their appreciation to their customers.

Sorry in advance for the long review, but they deserve it. I waited about a month after the project to ensure I had no concerns to post this.

I shopped fence companies for a few months before settling on Prestige, what swayed me to give them the time of day was they were the only ones who brought a portfolio with their licenses, products, and BBB reviews. After talking to Jeff and having him put my concerns to ease he worked with me to find the best product for my family and area. I finally settled on a dual tone vinyl fence and signed the contract. During the entire process I loved that the entire staff was super happy to help and available. If Jeff wasn’t available, Alex (the owner) was happy to answer my questions with no wait or call backs. When it came a week prior to install my HOA denied the dual tone and I had to select just one color, I went with the more expensive Tan and was afraid this would delay the install or cost more money/fees like you hear from other places. It didn’t, the project started on time and we kept the contracted price! During the install, we had Brandon lead the project who should up on time and worked all hours until it was finished. I went out every morning to talk to him, he was very friendly and informative, and most importantly, walked the fence with me during the different stages to ensure my comfort and satisfaction. No, Prestige was not the cheapest quote I received, but you get what you pay for. I did not get day laborers, I got a team that works for Prestige solely and cares about the customer and success of the project. Finally, with all this COVID stuff going on I wasn’t able to make it to the office for my last payment but was afraid of being charged for paying over the phone, they were happy to waive the fee without me having to ask.

They have earned my business for future projects and deserve a huge thank you from my family!

So glad I found Prestige Deck & Fence. I got a deck and vinyl fence installed. Communication from start to finish was great. Had an estimate with Jeff and he was fantastic! Explained everything and answered any and all questions I had. Alex, the owner, was great. He went over the process with me and answered any questions I had. The crew was great. They did an awesome job! Prestige's pricing was more than fair. I had another company come out and give me an estimate that was ridiculously high, so I chose Prestige and I definitely do not regret that decision. I get so many compliments on our deck. A+ company. I had a rail installed on a back porch and steps. From getting an estimate on the project to completion of the project everything went smoothly. Prestige put together the renderings and information for the HOA approval. The crew arrived on time, got it done in one day, and cleaned up at the end of the project. They were very professional and the product used for the railing looks great. Bottom line we are very pleased with Prestige and our beautiful new rail !

The crew that did work on my deck showed up promptly on time and the work they did was superb. Recently we contracted with Prestige to install fencing at our newly built house in Fawn Lake, Spotsylvania VA and from the first discussions through the design phase and finally the installation the work was completed in a professional, timely manner. The crew were meticulous in their work and when they said they would be on site at 7:30 they were. The staff are to be commended for their exemplary performance. I highly recommend Prestige without any reservation.

they don't even deserve 1 star. worse people to deal with, they quote me a price.I did the financial application with them for a project loan and I got approved, but they wanted me to pay cash instead, so basically they pull my credit for nothing. I finally I agree to pay cash and then they told me that they won't be able to do my fence because I ask to have one door install instead of 2 like they quoted me. are you kidding me is my house I can do whatever I want on it. I feel like this is more of a racial discrimination. the lady Fatima is very rude she treat me like I'm stupid because I'm not from here and I have an accent. please don't waste your time with this people. Fatima is very rude and racist. I saw a lot of reviews of a guy called Alex that says he is the owner, after doing a little research the owner is DAVID F BERNHARDT. I will contact the Better Business Bureau I will also file a complain with the EEOC. what they are doing is not right. all they care bout is the money and not what you want. its funny how every single bad review is respond in a very unprofessional way. lets see what excuse they come up with, when they answer my review.

I needed deck modifications to my rental property in Virginia. My property management company found Prestige, and they provided a timely estimate with a sketch. The price was fair, and they were on time and completed the work in the allocated time with excellent results! The modification looks great! I highly recommend Prestige for your deck work.

We contracted Prestige to build a deck for our backyard and we couldn't be happier! We basically have one of the worst, steepest and unusuable backyards ever. However, we have a great view of trees and forestry and really wanted a deck out back to enjoy and bbq on. Anyway, I made an appointment and their rep came as scheduled. Took photos and came inside to discuss our options. We thought the pricing was fair for what we wanted done, especially with our crazy backyard. I was grateful! Once contracted to do the job, they actually started on the deck building a day early and worked in over 100 degree weather for about 5 days. Yup, they even finished earlier than we expected too. I was impressed. Everything went really smoothly, passed inspection from the City of Fredericksburg and we're all good to go. Now, we have a lovely deck to enjoy our lovely view. Finally, we can use our outdoor space! Thanks, Prestige! We would hire them again or recommend them to anyone who wants a deck built in the area. Reliable company. (It was raining when I took this photo, but this is the composite deck we had them build)

Owner was nice in the beginning, but after I paid the work quality was poor, and the owner was rude and not flexible at all. He told me during a 13 mins conversation that "he can't waste anymore of very valuable time to discuss my concerns" after charging me 3 hours of office time! Sir, I have served in the military community, saves lives every single day, and I had to take some time off just to get things resolved with this man!! It was a complete headache from day 1 to completion. They also overcharged me, and I did not have any choice but to pay up to complete the deck. It cost me close to $17,000 for a 16×14 wood deck!!! Never use this company!!!! The owner only cared about how he's getting paid! No regards to customer service and satisfaction. I have to make sure to check out the workmanship every single day to have tons of things corrected. I kinda gave up at the end since he never seems to care anyways. Definitely reporting this company to BBB!

Well i want to share my family's BAD EXPERIENCE with this company and why they don't even deserved one star, when we decided to build our fence in our home we made the mistake of doing business with these people first they didn't show up the day they where supposed to, they showed up couple days later but not a biggie, 2nd the quality on the fence is REALLY BAD, looks really cheap and not even one day warranty on the product or labor but i was ok with it even though is not right however when they begin with the project i was not around because i had to be at work when they finished i saw that there was alot of visible problem with the way they installed the fence especially with one of my request that they approved by their manager/owner there was bad gaps, the fence was uneven and it look like they don't care about how their project looks like after they finish (it look horrible) and the guy that calls him self the owner ALEX GEORGE was rude and all he cared about was how his was going to get paid they don't care about customers or customers service he even hung up the phone on me because he wants everything thru email (then why do you have a phone)
BAD BUSINESS i regret giving this people business they are not professional at all but what to expect when they operate from a storage unit but well we will take legal action so they can stop taking advantage of people.

We got three quotes for a white vinyl fence and decided to choose Prestige. Jeff came out to take measurements, pictures, and provide the estimate. He was really a pleasure to work with; always smiling and super friendly. Alex, the owner, was great with email and phone communications and very informative throughout the process. The crew were proficient, polite, and professional. We love our new fence and have received so many compliments on it. I'm sure it wont be long before the rest of the neighborhood starts replacing their old wooden fences with this beautiful, low maintenance material and I'm happy to refer them all to Prestige. Their customer satisfaction is on point; these guys want to make sure you are happy with what you pay for. We plan to use them again to replace our deck and to build a sunroom in the near future. Great job, gentlemen!

We are so happy with the fence that Prestige Deck & Fence installed. Not only were they cheaper than most of the other companies, but they were so professional and helpful during the entire process. We didn't have a current survey of our land, and Alex worked with us to make sure that we got the boundaries right without having to pay extra money for a new survey. Then, most of our backyard ended up having quite a bit of rocks underneath our grass--making it hard to install the fence posts. This didn't delay our fence installation nor did they charge us extra for the equipment they had to bring in to dig into the rocks. Our fence is gorgeous; it changed the entire look of our backyard. Plus, now our toddler has a safe place to run around (which was the most important thing for us). Prestige Deck & Fence did such a wonderful job throughout the entire process, and I couldn't recommend this company more!

We recently used Prestige Deck and Fence's expert fence construction crew to install a fence in our backyard. From the second I clicked "request an estimate" Prestige's customer care and service was ahead of the competition. I received a call to set up and estimate within ten minutes of submitting the online form. Without naming names, there are several fences companies in the area that I literally still haven't heard back from.

Jeff came out and measured for our fence and discussed fencing options, he was exceptionally helpful and informative. He provides a nice packet providing you were current information regarding their certifications, insurance and bonding. After reviewing our fence plan, we decided to make a few changes, in fact this decision came even after materials for our fence were ordered. There was no hassle whatsoever in ordering the extra/different material. The Prestige team promptly changed the site plan to reflect the changes and supplied us with all the info needed to immediately submit our plans to our Home Owners Association.

Prestige's construction crew started the project and finished the project on time. The gentlemen were in our yard for two and a half days. Each day they arrived and left promptly, answered any questions and addressed any concerns I had and left a tidy work site. They constructed a high-quality, level fence on our partially wooded and uneven lot. The gentlemen were exceptionally careful when stretching the garden wire across the split rail to keep our bird dog inside his fence. There are no gaps and absolutely zero clearance between the wire and the ground-- no temptations for the pooch.

Without a doubt we would recommend their services and will be returning to prestige with deck work in the future.
