I initially did not want to leave a review at all but my recent interaction with Hassan reminded me of the pains and struggles I had to deal with for my renovation.
I had a project to renovate a kitchen and bathroom and add recessed lights throughout the apartment in 2022. I got multiple bids for the same exact thing. Hassan and One Horizon LLC (Homes?) was by far the highest bid and didn't even include painting. However I fell for his "professionalism", "knowledge"and sweet talk. He talked about what other contractors (lower bid ones) would do and how they wouldn't take care of your project and make change orders on everything. He does the exact same thing. The first day of the job, change order. Any little thing, change order. Which is okay but I feel like as a newbie renovator he left out of details out in his bid hoping to create change orders when the job starts. He will take advantage of your inexperience.
Moving on to the actual renovation. See the attached pictures. We expected high quality work however this looks like work that could be done by any worker waiting at home depot. Huge lippage on tiles, electrical boxes not in line, huge gaps behind cabinets, cabinets hitting walls. Cabinets were ordered from Fabuwood (highest quality cabinets?) and they came with damages on almost all of them. It took a month or two to get replacement. My project should have taken 1 month max and it took 4-5 months to complete. Throughout the whole process i had to micro manage every issue, mistake that was made to make sure nothing was skipped or missed. Everytime I called Hassan I was left with empty promises that this or that will be fixed/addressed today/tomorrow.
Finding all the materials to fit our unique space was also all my responsibility. I was told I only need to handle the appliances (which they don't install btw). But I had to do countless research on what materials to get, what finishes to get, what will fit my space. The biggest one being the shower glass door. I was told there was an in stock option for the glass door. However after days or research and days of calls to Hassan I told him I couldn't find one. He finally tried to find one himself and said "oh yea that's weird there is nothing available". So I had to custom order that also.
The whole renovation was frustrating but it was finally done. I was happy, not with the renovation but that it was finally over. The amount of money I spent, them being the highest bidder left me dissatisfied. Why did I pay so much when I had to do so much myself?
Now the biggest issue and what led me to write this review. After 1 year and a couple months, the shower which they've built from scratch, is leaking. I call Hassan about this and he mention they only warranty their work for 1 year but he'll come help fix it. Cool, I thought to myself. He's responsible for his work. I gave him my availability and asked when would be a good time. He promised to have it fixed next week. No response until a couple days later. "We don't have any availabilities next week but we can come the following week". This was an active leak so I didn't want to wait. In the end I had to fix it myself with someone else. This reminded me of all the empty promises and nothing has changed.
So if you're planning to get some nice renovations that only last a little more than a year, I'd say sure go with him. However skip this company if you don't want to deal with all the frustration and mediocre work that may or may not last.
